Portland USA sludge metal unit LORD DYING have released new single 'Freed from the Pressures of Time', taken from the forthcoming album Mysterium Tremendum which is set for release on 26th April via Entertainment One (eOne).

Mysterium Tremendum is the long-awaited new full-length from Portland progressive sludge metal merchants LORD DYING. Captured at Los Angeles' West Valley Recording Studios in August of 2018 with engineer Mike Plotnikoff (Fear Factory, In Flames) and mastered by Howie Weinberg (Slayer, Nirvana, Pantera, Red Hot Chili Peppers), Mysterium Tremendum is a monolithic, riff-heavy concept album boasting eleven heaving tracks examining the many facets of dying and what may or may not exist in the afterlife.

In advance of the record’s release, Decibel Magazine premiered second single, 'Freed From The Pressures Of Time.' Issues guitarist/vocalist Erik Olson of the brooding tune, “This track is pretty experimental and progressive for us; we’re very psyched with how it turned out. The song itself is a derivative of a dream that The Dreamer/protagonist of the album is having, longing for death; A paradox for an immortal entity.”
 
An emotionally satisfying record, lyrically and musically Mysterium Tremendum's exploration of death goes beyond the mere longing for it in order to see what lies beyond ('Lacerated Psyche' is about the death of Evans' sister). There are many layers to it - you might even find parallels between the record's concept and life itself. It's a journey. And in their quest to pursue death, LORD DYING have themselves found new life.

"We set out to write a record about life, and it ended up being about death," says LORD DYING guitarist/vocalist Erik Olson about the band's third studio album Mysterium Tremendum.

While the new record centres around death, it focuses more on what awaits us on the other side while also exploring our culture's fear of dying, and the struggles with our own mortality. The ideas for the concept have been kicking around for some time, but it's fitting that they're only now coming to fruition.
 
At the core of these Portland, Oregon, heavy metal titans is Olson and guitarist Chris Evans, who've been making music together since fifth grade. They formed LORD DYING before they had a name or a record when another Portland powerhouse Red Fang beckoned them to open some shows for them in 2010. Two records and countless live performances - including tours with Voivod and Crowbar - followed.
 
Mysterium Tremendum is the record Olson and Evans have wanted to make since the band's inception. It's easily LORD DYING's most musically diverse album, but one that could only be made following the band's jackhammer 2013 debut Summon The Faithless, and 2015's brooding Poisoned Altars. "It's more along the lines of what we wanted to do early on," says Evans.
 
LORD DYING was already beginning to expand its musical palette - including moodier interludes and Olson's expanded vocal range - but Olson says once the decision was made to make a concept record, he and Evans pushed themselves to match the themes musically and vocally. You'll hear it in songs like 'The End Of Experience' and the floating 'Severed Forever,' which sees Olson melodically doubling his vocals before returning to his trademark growl. Shorter interludes like 'Tearing The Fabric Of Consciousness' and 'Even The Darkness Went Away' are stunning and fragile, like nothing the band has ever done.
 
Olson and Evans worked tirelessly on the songs together over the course of a year-and-a-half, using programmed drum parts, and sending ideas back and forth. As Olson puts it, "It was the first time we were really able to put things under a microscope." The songs were all but ready by the time they headed to Los Angeles' West Valley Recording Studios in August of 2018 with engineer Mike Plotnikoff. L.A.-based bassist Matt Price and drummer Chase Manhattan jumped right in to bring these songs of death to life, and the results are huge and seamless.

Lyrically on 'Vacation', frontman Jeremy Stith references Harry Dean Stanton's discussion of "predestination and each humans' capabilities and their place in the world" Stith explains. "It's about how we will do what we do, and the outcomes will be what they will, and as much choice as we might have in the big scheme of things, the fact is just like earth, humans weren't here at one point, then we were, and soon we won't be anymore. Vacation is about grief and what comes along with it -- the denial, anger and the bargaining in situations where you come up short. We can only hope for acceptance that we are nothing, and Love is everything."

Failed Entertainment is FURY's take on the human experience, an attempt to describe every person's life and how it interacts with others through unmatched highs, desperate lows and mundane middles. As with their previous records, Failed Entertainment was recorded by Colin Knight and their own guitarist Madison Woodward at Paradise Records, in Anaheim, CA. This time, the band sought new surroundings and outside expertise, collaborating with engineerAndrew Oswald at Secret Bathroom Studios, mixing engineer Jack Endino (Nirvana, Soundgarden) and Parquet Courts' Andrew Savage. The new batch of songs shows growth in all directions: the slow parts more brooding, the melodies catchier, the lyrics out even further on the limb.

Forming in 2014, FURY have established themselves quickly. They built on the melodic legacy of Orange County by way of heavy, rhythmic, start-stop guitars and frontman Jeremy Stith's wordy, referential and poetic lyrics. In 2015, FURY released a demo on D.C.'s Mosher Delight Records and the Kingdom Come EP on Boston's Triple B Records in the same calendar year. Then, in 2016, came their debut LP on Triple B Records, Paramount. The debut full-length was met with respect from the hardcore community and praise from outsider critics, earning them support slots on tours with the likes of Power Trip, Sheer Mag, Turnstile and tours around the world including two in the UK in just a quick couple of years.

STATIC-X have announced the UK leg on their highly-anticipated 'Wisconsin Death Trip 20th Anniversary' tour this Autumn, which will also serve as a memorial tribute to late vocalist Wayne Static.

Featuring support from SOiL, Wednesday 13 and Dope, the tour kicks off in Bristol on 24th September and concludes in Birmingham on 4th October.

“Our intention is to pay ultimate respect to Wayne and to celebrate the music that has been in all of our hearts for more than 20 years,” says bassist Tony Campos. “It’s all about channeling the vibe from 1999 to the best of our ability and playing those classic STATIC-X songs live and loud.”
 
“Rehearsals have been awesome,” adds guitarist Koichi Fukuda. “The music and the vocals are sounding really great! I feel like Wayne would be proud.”
 
“We understand that people are naturally going to want to know more about who is singing,” says drummer Ken Jay. “We have discussed this at great length and we came to the conclusion that at this time, it would be inappropriate for us to put the focus on anyone other than Wayne, Tony, Koichi and myself. It feels like the best way for us to celebrate Wayne’s legacy, along with the 20th anniversary of Wisconsin Death Trip, with all of our fans.”

RENDEZVOUS POINT commented making the video for 'Apollo': "We were very certain from the beginning that we wanted to make 'Apoll'o our first single and music video. It had this energy to it that we thought would appeal to the fans, and also represented a fresh direction in our sound. Plus we got a lot of positive feedback from it when we played it live. Originally we were going to shoot the video in Oslo, but Geirmund found a huge abandoned factory just outside of Kristiansand, so we decided to shoot there instead. And it turned out to be the perfect location. A dirty place, with a huge room in it, where it looked like it had been a zombie apocalypse. 

"Troll Toftenes, who shot and produced the video, took some time to think out a story we could have in the video. We loved the idea he had, so we ended up going for it. Him and Baard went to the largest costume warehouse in Oslo, rented a bunch of post-apocalyptic looking clothes, and we ended up shooting a story that we thought was really cool. However it was really, really cold to be outside in winter Norway two days straight for shooting. Geirmund also managed to gather his students as extras for the videos, and they must have frozen to death, standing still behind us while we were playing and shooting the video. But all in all it was worth it, and the video ended up looking pretty badass."

Combining melodic vocals with heavy guitars and dark electronica, NOT ENOUGH are a unique new quintet from Cracow, Poland. 

NOT ENOUGH take influence from many bands including Alazka, Being As An Ocean, Slaves and Bring Me The Horizon, which come together to create a sound that draws comparisons ranging from BMTH to Pvris.

The TO L-VE EP was recorded and mixed by Gabor Toth (Ghostship Recordings) who has previously worked with the likes of Sails of Serenity and Drown My Day. The majority of the music was recorded in home studios, but the band took a trip to Gabor’s studio in Budapest to record vocals, where they focused on developing their unique blend of clean vocals and screamo.

THE WILD! have announced their return to the UK and Europe with a bang by confirming a number of festival dates and a tour supporting their friends in Rose Tattoo this summer.

Frontman Dylan Villain commented "From playing with KISS and ZZ Top in Sweden to a sold-out crowd of 75,000 people at Wacken topped off with a bunch of shows with our good mates in Rose Tattoo and some headline dates in countries we’ve never been before... Kicking off on 6th June 2019 at Sweden Rock Festival, this trek will take them up and down mainland Europe and the UK. The band will make their first-ever appearance at the legendary Wacken Open Air Festival, play London Islington Academy 2 and they will make a key appearance at the Steelhouse Festival in Wales with Thunder, Thin Lizzy, Temperance Movement and Danko Jones. 

THE WILD! released Wild At Heart in 2017 via Entertainment One. Produced by Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Metallica, Airbourne and Aerosmith) at Armoury Studios in Vancouver, Wild At Heart served as the follow-up to their debut EP GxDxWxB, which stands for "God Damn Wild Boys" released in 2015.

"'Crawl Back' is about the struggle to find acceptance after the death of someone dear to you. The title 'Crawl Back' refers to the gruelling stages of grief and how long it takes. There's no determined time for these things, and the mind can be subconsciously stubborn when it comes to dealing with loss. Our previous releases are heavily lined with the topic of death and grief, this slab of anguish and rage closes that chapter as we continue writing for the next release."
