KAOTEON return with self-titled album and new single
K-shot3.jpg

Lebanese blackened death metallers KAOTEON return with new single 'Wolves of Chaos' and have announced the release of new self-titled album on 17th January 2020.

Premiered via Metal Injection, check out 'Wolves of Chaos' here: https://youtu.be/rwzFbAiSJUI

Having both fully relocated to the Netherlands, guitarist Anthony Kaoteon and vocalist Walid WolfLust teamed up with bassist Linus Klausenitzer of Obscura and drummer Adrian Erlandsson of At The Gates for the next chapter of KAOTEON.

Kaoteon is the band's heaviest, darkest and most esoteric work to date, and with the world on the brink of societal collapse, there has never been a better time for such a bleak record. With their unique Middle Eastern perspective, it is all the more harrowing.

On the new record Anthony Kaoteon took a different approach to writing. He explains: “On previous albums, every KAOTEON track had over 10 main riffs that could be extended into a song each. With the self-titled upcoming album, the riffs have an identity of their own. Every riff on this album was composed during a state of flow and there are no fillers. I just didn't want to compose riffs that fit between other riffs. I recorded whole tracks as they came to my mind after several hours of meditation.”

The state of the world today and the band’s relocation to the Netherlands have played a big part in inspiring the themes on the album. The band comment: “The themes are about borders, physical, political and mental. They are about pushing forward against all weights, about looking for home, guided by a beacon in the dark, keeping one eye on your destination and another at the shadows of the mind as well as the shadows of power creeping over our world. These themes evolved from fresh out of the Middle East and rediscovering the notion of home and in the hope of settling someday.”

The new self-titled album is the first release since KAOTEON‘s award-winning album Damnatio Memoriae, which received wide critical acclaim, earned the band a Metal Hammer Golden God award, and put them on the global metal map. 2020 will see the band build upon their success and lead the charge for Middle Eastern extreme metal.

Canadian Hardcore/Metal act VULTURES release video for 'Acceptance'
769A2848resize.jpg

Canadian metallic hardcore outfit VULTURES have released their new video for 'Acceptance', taken from their raucous EP Hunger, released 4th October.

Premiered via New Noise Magazine, you can now watch the video to 'Acceptance' here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GH8_dsSe9Mw

Guitarist Cole Lamb comments: "'Acceptance' is the second song of our EP, Hunger. This song is about a young boy who gets peer pressured into doing cocaine to be accepted into a group of friends and in return dies from an overdose and his mom is devastated. Our mission statement in 'Acceptance' is to raise awareness because this is a tragedy that happens everywhere. Hunger is about different perspectives of the people drug abuse affects."

VULTURES convey an unapologetic and visceral energy through their brand of hardcore. With sonic inspirations that include the likes of ConvergeEvery Time I Die, and The Dillinger Escape Plan, the band combine the technicality and bite of metal with the attitude of hardcore punk in order to deliver performances with unrivalled potency and aggression and no little amount of fun.

VULTURES' second EP Hunger contains six tracks that put forth an attack of driving riffs and incendiary finger-pointing in just under twenty minutes. Hunger was produced, mixed, and mastered by Tim Creviston (Misery SignalsSpiritbox), and features Larissa Stupar (Venom Prison) on track five, 'This Hunger'.

Initially playing local DIY house shows as a means of introducing themselves in 2016, VULTURES have since proceeded to support metal heavyweights Enterprise EarthArchspire, '68 and plenty more.

The band since embarked on their largest tour yet in support of the EP, including their first foray into the USA, and select dates with Cancer Bats and Despised Icon.

VULTURES are:

Alex Pearce - vocals
Cole Lamb - guitar
Graham Scanlon - drums
Bradley Seabrook - bass
Ian Bezpalko - bass (on record)

Alt-rockers CARRY THE CROWN release video for new single 'Runaway'
image0.jpeg

UK alt-rockers CARRY THE CROWN return with a fresh lease of life with their new single 'Runaway', released today (Friday 1st November). For fans of You Me At Six, Don Broco and Mallory Knox, CARRY THE CROWN showcase a mix of electric, bouncy choruses with soft, infectious hooks. In the band's own words, 'Runaway' is a track "moving them forward", delivering a matured sound that remains true to who they are.

Check out the video for 'Runaway' here: https://youtu.be/Zo4voKNVRsw

"The song’s lyrics intentionally contradict themselves from the verses to the chorus, to highlight the confusion felt within the narrative," the band comment. "It moves from suspicion and needing reassurance, to the desire for what you already have to stay the same. It mirrors the complexity of relationships and the feeling of fear of losing someone. We believe ‘Runaway’ will be a refreshing change in style for our current fans and a great way to be introduced to everything Carry The Crown."

In their short time as a band, CARRY THE CROWN have already gained support from BBC Radio 1's Huw Stephens, BBC Introducing in Lincolnshire and Kerrang! Radio, and featured on numerous official Spotify playlists. It's no surprise, as they bring together the melodic vocals of You Me At Six and combine them with the bouncy guitar work of Don Broco, all whilst honing their own unique sound.

CARRY THE CROWN will play a series of shows in support of the new single, dates are as follows:

02.11.2019 - Lincoln, HMV (instore show and signing)
09.11.2019 - Lincoln, 2Q Festival
23.11.2019 - Lincoln, Liquor (Forget Me Rocks Acoustic, charity show)

Apocalyptic prog quartet PERIHELION release new single ahead of Euro tour
Perihelion_03b crop.jpg

Hungarian apocalyptic prog rock/metal act PERIHELION have release new single 'Tavasszal a Vadak', taken from new album Agg, set for release on 6th December.

Premiered via Metal Sucks, listen to 'Tavasszal a Vadak' here: https://youtu.be/cW2ohlp7YNg

Guitarist/vocalist Gyula Vasvári told Metal Sucks: “‘Tavasszal a Vadak’ is the opener of our new album Agg. This song was born as a result of rehearsal jam sessions and improvising. We originally intended to put it in a different place on the album due to its heavier character. However, as the concept of the new release evolved, we decided to put it right at the beginning, thereby giving the album the intonation we had always imagined. We love it!”

'Tavasszal a Vadak' is the second single which opens new album Agg, seven tracks inspired by the world's ever-increasing moral decline and turmoil, that is both abrasive and yet strangely comforting; a smorgasbord of dark sounds, emotions and feelings.

The band are about to embark on a Euro headline tour in support of 'Tavasszal a Vadak' and previous single 'Erdő'. Catch them on the following dates:

1/11 - Brno - Bajkazyl, CZ
2/11 - České Budějovice - Velbloud Music Ba, CZ
4/11 - Strasbourg - Le Local, FR
6/11 - Chambéry - Brin de Zinc, FR
7/11 - Delemont - The Pub Fiction, CH
9/11 - Maribor - Gustaf Pekarna, SL

PERIHELION fuse psychedelic rock, avant-garde metal and post-black metal, to create a sound that is atmospheric, ethereal, beautiful and haunting in equal measure. A band who use dynamics as much as melody, the quartet create captivating soundscapes with many twists and turns; each track is a journey in its own right.

Translating as "very very old" in archaic Hungarian, Agg is a concept album about escapism. Each track has a different take on the process of heading towards death, the ultimate escape, which serves as a sour metaphor for the decline of humanity. Agg was recorded live in a rehearsal space with the view to creating something truly natural and atmospheric, and the result is a chilling and distinctly organic sound.

Having played together since 2001, PERIHELION officially formed in 2012 and released their self-titled debut that year. In 2014 they followed up with an EP entitled Nap fele néz which caught the attention of respected French label Apathia records, who released their sophomore album Zeng in 2015. Subsequent releases Hold (EP 2016) and Örvény (album 2017) gained the band huge international attention, which saw them tour Europe, play festivals in France and Switzerland, and open for Zeal & Ardor and Tormentor.
