Extreme Metallers BLASPHEMER Sign to Candlelight Records; Announce New Album Details
blasphemer_hi_res_1.jpg

Candlelight Records has announced the worldwide signing of Italian extreme metal stalwarts BLASPHEMER. The group's third album The Sixth Hour will be released worldwide on 24th January.

The band commented: "The unholy crusaders have found their vexil: the phoenix. Blasphemer's third opus will see the light under the Candlelight Records banner."

The Sixth Hour showcases twelve songs of pure blackened-death metal, mastered at the famous studio Hertz in Poland, known for their work with Behemoth, Decapitated and Vader. Fundamentally a concept album, The Sixth Hour's main theme is the way of the cross, i.e. the last day of Jesus Christ, the path that led him from the Gethsemane to Golgotha. The aim of the album is to depict Jesus as merely human, trying to transpose into music the agony he felt in the last day.

The band have shared the first new track and video for 'The Deposition'. Listen and watch here: https://youtu.be/W9HpKSSGs_o and here https://blasphemer.lnk.to/TheSixthHour

BLASPHEMER have been a long running act in the underground since 1998, when they were founded in Italy by Simone Brigo (also BEHEADED). They have since toured Europe and US countless times, playing many festivals and shows all over the world.

The band released the full-length album On the Inexistence of God in 2008 and the EP Devouring Deception in 2010, both through the renowned US-based label Comatose Music, being critically acclaimed in extreme music circuits.

In 2013 the band became quiescent, eventually coming back to the scene with the release of sophomore album Ritual Theophagy (Comatose Music, 2016), featuring Darren Cesca (Deeds of Flesh, Arsis, Goratory, etc.) on drums.

2017 was the year of rebirth for BLASPHEMER: a new line-up and a different sound, more oriented on pureblood death metal, both by darkness and intensity, and progressively incorporating black metal influences. In June a promo song was released, 'Jesus Is Stripped Of His Garments', eventually to be released in early 2019 on a split CD with Neocaesar (featuring early-Sinister former members).

The band will also be playing Incineration Fest on the 9th May in the UK with the likes of Bloodbath, Dark Funeral and MGLA, with more dates to be announced soon.

Punk rock trio TRASHED release video for new single 'Charlie Sheen'
JKM00012-2 copy.jpg

TRASHED have released a video for their new single 'Charlie Sheen', out today (13th December 2019). For fans of Sum 41 and early-era Green Day and Blink-182, TRASHED are Bristol's answer to 90s/00s style punk rock, delivering a unique sound of neck-breaking riffs and throat shredding melodies that are soaked in a sense of nostalgia.

Check out the video for 'Charlie Sheen' here: https://youtu.be/4_kPXuBL-k0

The lyrics for 'Charlie Sheen' were written by frontman Jimmy Embleton-Smith before starting a ten-hour bar shift, trying to distract himself after a sleepless night from the impending doom of drinking, making poor life choices and wondering why he hadn't learnt his lesson before.

TRASHED worked with producer Neil Kennedy (Milk Teeth, Creeper, Boston Manor) to cultivate the sound for their stripped-back, catchy, 90s inspired punk rock songs that explore topics including vegetarianism, feeling disenfranchised and dealing with anxiety. The trio, who only formed in January 2019, released their debut EP Yours Not Mine earlier this year and have garnered over 240,000 Spotify streams since their inception.

TRASHED are currently working on their second EP, details of which will be revealed soon.

Swedish rock quartet SOLENCE release video for 'Brothers'
7516 glitch.jpg

Sweden's SOLENCE have released the video for their stomping new single 'Brothers', the title-track from their recently released debut album. For fans of Bring Me The Horizon, I Prevail and Holding Absence, 'Brothers' is an electrifying song with a soaring chorus which sees SOLENCE blend electro-rock, metal and post-hardcore in their own distinctive way. The track has already received impressive support and following its release, the band were championed as Alex Baker's 'Featured Artist Of The Week' for the third time on Kerrang! Radio.

Check out the video for 'Brothers' here: https://youtu.be/6Ae6y7aufkU

Stream/purchase Brothers here: https://orcd.co/brothers

The debut album title Brothers felt natural to SOLENCE, who have spent eight years growing up together, learning not only how to make music as a unit but also how to respect and treat each other, and despite facing many trials and errors along the way the quartet have developed a solid bond.

SOLENCE have hit over 23 million streams across all digital platforms, with 346,000 monthly listeners on Spotify - having featured on official Spotify playlists (New Core, New Metal Tracks, New Blood, Release Radar, Radio, Discover Weekly) - and 73,500 YouTube subscribers, all the more impressive for a band who have a strong DIY ethic and write, produce, mix and release all of their music independently.

'Heaven', the second single from the album, has seen huge success: the band were championed as the cover for Spotify's New Core playlist and featured as the first track on the playlist, which has 370,000 followers, and the track has since had 1.7 million Spotify streams (averaging at around 10,000 streams per day), as well as 300,000 YouTube views to date. Following singles 'Empire Of The Sun' and 'Death Do Us Part' were also featured in official Spotify playlists, where they reached over 500,000 followers.

Ahead of their debut album, SOLENCE spent two years releasing cover songs, including 'Warriors' by Imagine Dragons and Ed Sheeran hit 'Shape Of You', which built their strong fan base and set the foundations for a series of original singles and now their debut album. The momentum built from the single releases saw the band embark on a month-long European tour throughout Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic, the Netherlands and Italy.

KAOTEON stream new single 'Sun Of The East'
unnamed (89).jpg

Lebanese blackened death metallers KAOTEON are streaming new single 'Sun Of The East', taken from their new self-titled album, out 17th January 2020.

Premiered via Metal Hammer Germany, check out 'Sun Of The East' here: https://youtu.be/nRI4ZnZDbgE

Having both fully relocated to the Netherlands, guitarist Anthony Kaoteon and vocalist Walid WolfLust teamed up with bassist Linus Klausenitzer of Obscura and drummer Adrian Erlandsson of At The Gates for the next chapter of KAOTEON.

Kaoteon is the band's heaviest, darkest and most esoteric work to date, and with the world on the brink of societal collapse, there has never been a better time for such a bleak record. With their unique Middle Eastern perspective, it is all the more harrowing.

On the new record Anthony Kaoteon took a different approach to writing. He explains: “On previous albums, every KAOTEON track had over 10 main riffs that could be extended into a song each. With the self-titled upcoming album, the riffs have an identity of their own. Every riff on this album was composed during a state of flow and there are no fillers. I just didn't want to compose riffs that fit between other riffs. I recorded whole tracks as they came to my mind after several hours of meditation.”

The state of the world today and the band’s relocation to the Netherlands have played a big part in inspiring the themes on the album. The band comment: “The themes are about borders, physical, political and mental. They are about pushing forward against all weights, about looking for home, guided by a beacon in the dark, keeping one eye on your destination and another at the shadows of the mind as well as the shadows of power creeping over our world. These themes evolved from fresh out of the Middle East and rediscovering the notion of home and in the hope of settling someday.”

The new self-titled album is the first release since KAOTEON‘s award-winning album Damnatio Memoriae, which received wide critical acclaim, earned the band a Metal Hammer Golden God award, and put them on the global metal map. 2020 will see the band build upon their success and lead the charge for Middle Eastern extreme metal.

Doom Metal Trio GODTHRYMM Featuring Former Members Of My Dying Bride, Anathema, To Release Reflections Debut Via Profound Lore; New Track Streaming
Godthrymm_Promo-14 copy.jpg

Perhaps it’s the bleak and foreboding weather, the never ending cynical and soul crushing political landscape, or the rich history and romanticism of our small island, that sees the UK as a breeding ground for incredible doom metal. Step forward GODTHRYMM, featuring vocalist/guitarist Hamish Glencross (ex-My Dying Bride, Vallenfyre, Solstice), drummer Shaun Taylor-Steels (ex-My Dying Bride, Anathema), and bassist Bob Crolla who arrive with riffs as gargantuan as the pedigree behind their band members, bringing forth their debut LP Reflections, which is released on February 14 via Profound Lore.

The band have shared the first new track and video for 'Among The Exalted.” Listen and watch here: https://youtu.be/Tk6K41Ov8I0

GODTHRYMM was forged in 2017 by Glencross and sees the respected UK metal luminary return to his doom metal roots, creating the music he was known to help forge with Solstice on the legendary New Dark Age album and especially with the heralded My Dying Bride from the 2000 – 2014 time period. Further adding to the GODTHRYMM pedigree is drummer Shaun Taylor-Steels who, after some lineup refining following the band’s A Grand Reclamation debut EP, became the core of GODTHRYMM. In the months to follow, the pair recorded the colossal Reflections full-length. Upon its completion, Glencross and Taylor-Steels added bassist Bob Crolla to the fold making GODTHRYMM a true power trio of doom.

Recorded and mixed by Nathan Bailey and featuring artwork and design by Brian D’Agosta of Gostworks Art (Vallenfyre, War//Plague), with ReflectionsGODTHRYMM has unleashed a mammoth slab of heavy, mournful, yet pounding traditional doom that harks back to the classic era of ‘90s UK doom/Peaceville Records. A massive step up from their debut EP, Reflections is the result of Glencross taking GODTHRYMM into darker, more melancholic, and towering realms. Through Glencross’ soaring passionate vocals complimenting his powerful riffs along with Taylor-Steels’ thunderous percussion giving the rhythm section that immense and glorious tone, Reflections is a testament to the glory days of the genre while simultaneously making its statement as a new force of modern day doom metal to behold.

Vocalist and guitarist Hamish Glencross comments: "Lyrically, “Among the Exalted” is about desire becoming all-encompassing obsession, manifesting in such a way that yearning and devotion can even become a manic and destructive force.  Musically, we feel this song is very direct and represents us as musicians and who we are now, whilst also echoing our own history and also the glorious history of the celebrated U.K. doom scene. Thank you for listening."

GODTHRYMM’s Reflections will be released on CD, 2xLP on February 14th, and digital formats with preorders to be unveiled in January.

German hardcore quintet GIVER stream new single 'New Gods'
GiverShooting2_21_creditMarie_Laforgeresize.jpg

Hotly-tipped German hardcore quintet GIVER have released their new single, 'New Gods', taken from their upcoming second LP Sculpture Of Violence, to be released 7th February on Holy Roar Records.

Stream 'New Gods' here: http://bit.ly/NEWGODS

The band comment: 'New Gods' is a track about the advertisement industry as an outgrowth of a system that lives on your feeling of incompleteness and never being enough. Advertising does not seek to fulfil your needs but to create them in the first place. The worst thing that can possibly happen under capitalism is that all our dreams come true and we've got nothing left to wish for - that we are simply happy. But then Amazon comes up with another campaign for its latest device just before Christmas that has the slogan "for those who've already got everything" on it to make you feel even more complete than you've ever felt.

Pre-order the record: http://smarturl.it/GIVERSOV

GIVER's new record leans into fresh and melodious territory, reminiscent of early 00's hardcore birthed with the likes of Bridge Nine Records and Deathwish Inc., including Blacklisted, Have Heart and Modern Life Is War.

The German band have expanded upon their foundation of caustic and high tempo metal-tinged hardcore which won them acclaim with debut full-length Where The Cycle Breaks (January 2018). With new record, Sculpture Of Violence, GIVER demonstrate a dogged urgency and a self-assured versatility, a worthy addition to the modern international hardcore scene's bent of great melodic albums.

In the band's own words: "The central question behind Sculpture Of Violence really is whether there can ever be peace. Since men started settling during the neolithic revolution 10,000 years ago, the amount of years of recorded peace is disturbingly negligible. The record explores different ways and structures in which we form each other through the collective We that is society, which is us and not anybody else and which brings us up against one another and constantly focus on our differences... With the climate catastrophe approaching, the far right growing stronger everyday and the market economy reaching into even the furthest corners of our lives, the time to remain silent is simply over."

Cuts such as ‘Every Age Has Its Dragons (Like An Empire)’, ‘These Words Are Rain’ and ‘Imitation Dreams’ tackle topics of exploitative labour, the dissonance of religious discord and ill-conceived concepts of masculinity in the current climate to catastrophic effect. The ten songs on offer, whilst bleak, maintain a youthful vibrancy that truly aims to deliver change on a personal and much broader level.

Progressive metallers CHIASMATA release video for new single 'Absolution'
Chiasmata Promo.jpg

Progressive metal quartet CHIASMATA have released the video for their new single 'Absolution', the second taste of their forthcoming release.

The deliberate nature of the tonal dissonance within 'Absolution' provides an ample canvas for the video, which portrays an internal struggle and personifies the same battles which are explored in the track.

Check out the video for 'Absolution' here: https://youtu.be/XVydAOJKHEI

The band comment on the single:

"In writing ‘Absolution’ we found ourselves producing a very comfortable piece of music that addressed an ultimately uncomfortable subject matter - this in a way was as alien to us as some of the more extreme composition that we had written up to this point. This was furthered by the addition of choral sections and electronic interludes that we feel are as integral to the song’s identity as the instrumentation in painting the picture."

As much of a departure as it is familiar ground, 'Absolution' introduces several compositional signatures that trace the cracks of the upcoming record. This track is as much a statement of the band’s identity as it is foreboding a direct manifestation of the underlying struggles, providing a pillar of stability among the turbulence both musically and conceptually.

Based in Manchester, CHIASMATA are a four-piece progressive metal band who are bridging the gap between the atmospheric sensibilities of cinematic acts and the relentless complexity of modern technical metal. The young outfit strive to deliver their vision in line with lofty compositional ambition. The vocal hooks and melodic maturity that are staple to the band’s methodology are welcome anchorage, providing temporary reprieve as they navigate a turbulent sonic landscape.

PROSPECTIVE release third single & video from upcoming new album
shot lo res.jpg

Italian progressive metalcore quintet PROSPECTIVE have released 'Against All Odds', the third new single from the upcoming album All We Have. The heaviest track on the album, the band's uncompromising mix djent and metalcore is another great example of what's to come on the record.

Watch / listen to 'Against All Odds' here: https://youtu.be/nbXmSitKeuw

All We Have will be released on 17th January 2020 via Long Branch Records, and is now available for pre-order as exclusive bundles, CD in digipack and as download.

Pre-order here: https://prospective.lnk.to/AllWeHave

All We Have is 10 tracks of emotionally entrancing brutality from one of the hardest working bands in Italy today. The quintet – Pietro Serratore [Vocals], Luca Zini [Lead Guitar, Vocals], Davide Ruggeri [Guitar], Stefano Baldanza [Bass] and Flavio Cacciari [Drummer] – dug deep into themselves to deliver an album that is not only technically adept but also emotionally charged.

All We Have is the result of countless nights spent shaping their unique sound, trying to achieve the perfect combination of melody, tones, attitude and feel. The songs are straightforward and hard-hitting with no remorse, combining abrasive guitar tones, heavy riffs, gnarly breakdowns, catchy choruses and unexpected melodies. The album is completed with a mix finished to perfection by Buster Odeholm and mastering engineer Ermin Hamidovic.

The loss of someone, anger towards people around you, pollution and war, are some of the main themes on All We Have. An intricate mix of anger and love, the lyrics dive deeply into the feelings conjured by these topics. The theme of war, either inside yourself or on the battlefield, is explored in great detail.

Following on from the more technical and less emotionally driven sophomore album Unreal, All We Have is new chapter for PROSPECTIVE, and a chance to explore the deepest and strongest experiences and traumas that have inspired the album. There is a clear evolution in heaviness, with more thoughtful choruses but with more attention to song structures. This is a band packed with passion and a lot to say, and all the riffs and breakdowns to back it up.

Earlier this year THE WILD! turned up the heat a new video, 'Playing With Fire', which masterfully translates their hard-boiled poetry of the streets into a visually striking aesthetic of noir heroes.

Watch 'Playing With Fire' here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rgaht-i66OQ

A road paved by fast times and loose morals on the pursuit of personal freedom gave THE WILD! their sound. While always remaining true to their name, it’s their never-say-die attitude that’s proven them to be one of the strongest up and coming rock bands on the market today.

Without a record label, booking agent, or paid promotional team, in 2015 THE WILD! saw their first single, 'Roadhouse,' on the Active Rock radio charts in their native country of Canada. This gained them their agent, Ralph James and the interest of Mike Fraser, who was offered Villain’s ’65 Cadillac Deville in lieu of a label budget to make their first record. As a small but rabid fanbase grew, the band made a deal with North America’s biggest indie label, Entertainment One.

THE WILD!’s debut album, GxDxWxB, produced the Active Rock radio hit “Slow Burn,” which peaked at Number 5 in Canada while “Straight to Hell” and “What About You?” both cracked the Top 20. During this time, the band headlined their own tours and supported Buckcherry, Godsmack, Korn, Rise Against, Wolfmother and more.

In 2017, the band’s second album, Wild At Heart, knocked Metallica out of the Number 2 spot on the iTunes Rock Charts when it debuted. 'Ready to Roll' reached Number 4 at Active Rock in Canada and garnered the attention of legendary rock radio DJ and TV personality Eddie Trunk as he spun the song on his syndicated show broadcasted to nearly 40 American radio stations. The band then announced spots on major US rock festivals Carolina Rebellion and Welcome To Rockville. Both headline and support tours followed alongside the likes of Airbourne, Steel Panther and Rose Tattoo as the band continued to travel across North America before later heading overseas for the first time. On their first tour in Europe, the band sold 600 records in just 9 shows. With the demand of their growing fan base overseas, THE WILD! would make their way back to Europe two more times that year.

THE WILD! set 2019 ablaze with appearances on the European Full Metal Cruise, Wacken Open Air, Sweden Rock, and the UK’s Steelhouse Festival. THE WILD! then return to Europe for another headline tour as well as more dates supporting Rose Tattoo, along with a fall Canadian tour run.

This is a band making their name the old-fashioned way, earning their stripes night after night through hard work on the road. From their home in Canada to stages across America and Europe, THE WILD! are here to give rock fans something very real. If you like straightforward, no-bullsh*t rock and roll, THE WILD! is here to deliver.
