AZUSA, the avant-metal group formed of members of The Dillinger Escape Plan, Extol, Sea + Air and more, have announced their highly-anticipated second LP, Loop Of Yesterdays, released 10th April via Indie Recordings / Solid State Records.
The band have also released their first single from the record, 'Memories Of An Old Emotion'.

In the words of drummer David Husvik, "'Memories Of An Old Emotion' is a classic, no-BS AZUSA all-over-the-place rifforama. It's the perfect first single for all the right and wrong reasons."
Loop Of Yesterdays is the follow-up to 2018's critically acclaimed Heavy Yoke. Although equally broad in scope, Loop Of Yesterdays finds the band with more to say but less to prove, achieving a more aerodynamic and accessible approach to their intricate sense of song-writing and inherently technical style. Expanding on ideas first presented on 2018’s album Heavy Yoke, AZUSA seek to captivate audiences with their unique blend of melodic-thrash, jazz-fusion, hardcore and early 90’s riff pop sensibilities. This is accompanied by lyrics which assertively confront coming of age struggles, like loss, grief, memories and estrangement. Bassist Liam Wilson says, “Heavy Yoke was the initial impact, Loop Of Yesterdays is the aftermath.”
“The line “cannot lose myself in a loop of yesterdays” was inspired by an eerie dream I had and became a recurring reminder for me. I had been out of focus for a long time that I wanted to get back to reality, to the present.” says vocalist Eleni Zafiriadou.
Anxious to continue where they left off, the band found themselves returning to drummer and producer-engineer David Husvik’s Hawk Studios in Oslo, Norway to record Loop Of Yesterdays, which was masterminded by long-time collaborators David Husvik and guitarist Christer Espevoll, and recorded in a series of marathon sessions that started before their previous album even left the pressing plant. The band once again called upon Nick Terry (Serena Maneesh, Kvelertak, Turbonegro) to achieve their ideal mix, a highly polished balance of punch and aggression, giving mastering engineer Jens Bogren (Opeth, At The Gates, Between The Buried And Me) a pitch he could knock out of the park. Intrigued by his ability to exist comfortably in both the jazz and metal world, the band reached out to world-class guitarist Alex Skolnick (Testament) to contribute a shredding guest solo on the track 'Detach'. The album artwork was provided by internationally acclaimed German artist Klaus Rinke from his work titled “Um mich herum - Wasser holen, Wasser bringen, Wasser schütten”.
Loop of Yesterdays will be released via Solid State Records in North America and Asia, and via Indie Recordings in the rest of the world on April 10th.

Doom metal trio GODTHRYMM have unveiled new single 'The Sea As My Grave' ahead of the release of their debut album Reflections on 14 February via Profound Lore.

GODTHRYMM, featuring vocalist/guitarist Hamish Glencross (ex-My Dying Bride, Vallenfyre, Solstice), drummer Shaun Taylor-Steels (ex-My Dying Bride, Anathema), and bassist Bob Crolla, arrive with riffs as gargantuan as the pedigree behind their band members.
'The Sea As My Grave', a mournful lament with crushing waves of titanic riffs and pounding drums, punctuated with ghostly leads and sombre vocals, is the latest single taken from forthcoming new album Reflections, a mammoth slab of heavy, anguished, yet pummelling traditional doom that harks back to the classic era of ‘90s UK doom/Peaceville Records.
Vocalist and guitarist Hamish Glencross comments:
"Lyrically, 'The Sea As My Grave' paints a picture of a broken, tired human giving up their earthly remains to the sea for an eternal rest in the vastness of the oceans. Musically, we believe this song perfectly defines us stylistically as a band, and represents us perfectly as musicians. The video was pieced together by our friend Carl Assault from live footage taken in Belgium last summer. Thank you for listening."
Forged in 2017 by Glencross, GODTHRYMM sees the respected UK metal luminary return to his doom metal roots, creating the music he was known to help forge with Solstice on the legendary New Dark Age album and especially with the heralded My Dying Bride from the 2000 – 2014 time period. Further adding to the GODTHRYMM pedigree is drummer Shaun Taylor-Steels who, after some lineup refining following the band’s A Grand Reclamation debut EP, became the core of GODTHRYMM. In the months to follow, the pair recorded the colossal Reflections full-length. Upon its completion, Glencross and Taylor-Steels added bassist Bob Crolla to the fold making GODTHRYMM a true power trio of doom.
Recorded and mixed by Nathan Bailey and featuring artwork and design by Brian D’Agosta of Gostworks Art (Vallenfyre, War//Plague), Reflections is the result of Glencross taking GODTHRYMM into darker, more melancholic, and towering realms. Through Glencross’ soaring passionate vocals complimenting his powerful riffs along with Taylor-Steels’ thunderous percussion giving the rhythm section that immense and glorious tone, Reflections is a testament to the glory days of the genre while simultaneously making its statement as a new force of modern day doom metal to behold.
GODTHRYMM’s Reflections will be released on CD, 2xLP on February 14th, and digital formats. To mark the release of the album GODTHRYMM will be playing at The Unicorn Camden Live in Camden, London on Saturday February the 22nd. Details including supports to be announced soon.

Canadian all-star metal powerhouse IMONOLITH have announced the release of their highly anticipated debut album State Of Being on 27th March via Imonolith Music and are streaming new single / video ‘Instinct’.
Check out ‘Instinct’ here: https://youtu.be/zlmOcXMilHs
State Of Being is now available to pre-order / pre-save here: https://lnk.to/stateofbeing
Featuring drummer Ryan ‘RVP’ Van Poederooyen (Devin Townsend Project), guitarist Brian ‘Beav’ Wadell (Devin Townsend Project), Jon Howard (Threat Signal), guitarist Kai Huppunen (Methods of Mayhem, Noise Therapy) and Scott Whalen (Econoline Crush), IMONOLITH is a collective of heavy hitting players at the top of their game, and ‘Instinct’ serves as a great taster of what can be expected on their debut album.
State of Being features 10 hook-laden riff-heavy tracks including ‘Hollow’, the debut single that made big waves for IMONOLITH straight out of the gate, racking up 216K Spotify streams in 2019. There are also two very special guest performances from Jens Kidman (Meshuggah) and Swedish vocalist Johannes Eckerström.
Having spent much of 2019 writing, arranging, recording and fine-tuning State of Being, the band worked incredibly hard to achieve their goal - to make an engaging heavy metal album. RVP commented “We spent a lot of time making this record. We wanted it to be done the way we envisioned it. We didn’t cut any corners, from the song writing right up to the album production and artwork. It’s a debut album that we’re very proud of and excited for the world to hear.”
The high production video to ‘Instinct’ is not only a great example of the band’s quality aesthetic, but it also serves as a look at IMONOLITH’s collective personality. RVP continues “I think we raised the bar with the ‘Instinct’ video. It’s a different kind of video that’ll catch you off guard in a few ways. It can also be interpreted differently depending on the viewer. We put a lot of thought into it and hired great visionary people to make it a fun watch.’’
IMONOLITH will be touring globally for the next two years and have announced their first ever UK / EU headline dates, commencing on 27th March in Sheffield UK. Beav commented: “To be able to take a brand-new band overseas and have the opportunity to headline shows is completely mind blowing!! German dark indie prog three-piece KOJ have shared their haunting new single 'Jenny' alongside an evocative live session video. It's the second single to come from the band's forthcoming debut album HOME which is set for release via Long Branch Records in Spring 2020.
The song 'Jenny' talks about experiencing dark moments in your life and feeling like there is no possible way out. KOJ wanted to explore the way someone might perceive the world through this lens of anxiety and hopelessness and it made them wonder what it might take for that person to see a silver lining and to feel like they belong again.
Stream the song here: koj.lnk.to/home
Watch their live 'Jenny' session here: https://youtu.be/U1RikXYBYOo
KOJ comments on new single 'Jenny':
"Jenny was written in our home studio and it was a very intuitive and collaborative process. The three of us started jamming randomly at the beginning of a songwriting session and it just sort of came together. Beray Habip, our producer and engineer, coordinated the whole thing and guided us through the process of making the song. In a way Jenny came out of thin air, but then again this is one of those songs that seems to have been waiting somewhere in the collective subconscious just to be written. Basically it only took us one day to write the entire track and record a demo version. It was such a wonderful feeling to listen to Jenny at the end of that day, realising that ‘wow, we really did this!’. We then took the demo to Toolhouse Studios to record the final version of the song.
So, the song is called Jenny, which originally came from ‘Jennifer Lawrence’, which was the working title for the track. The song has a line about a silver lining, so we thought of ‘Silver Linings’ and about Jennifer Lawrence. We had started this weird habit on previous songs of temporarily naming the songs after celebrities, before committing to a proper song title. We created quite the line-up with names such as Pamela Anderson or Scarlett Johansson, before renaming them for the album. Jennifer Lawrence became Jenny and stayed this way, because the name also has a very personal reference and connection to the theme of the song."
Since 2012 KOJ have continuously been working on their music and forging their deep dark indie soundscapes. Made up of three musicians - two brothers and one married couple; this is KOJ. Together they give life to a sound that is full of contrasts, sometimes roaring, untamed and raw as the ocean that inspires them, other times delicate, fragile and minimal.

Create an impression, let your light shine, leave traces.
Following this vision, German band TIME, THE VALUATOR were founded mid-2015. With vast influences from a wide array of different styles, they craft a sound of their own, blending atmospheric, catchy and heavy elements together, while taking absolutely no creative compromises.
Pushing boundaries was the foundation of creating the project as a musical endeavour. To choose one genre wouldn't do the band any justice, because the material blends alternative rock, pop, metal, jazz and ambient, a limitless style with many surprises in store.
With a lot of potential and very disciplined work ethic, TIME, THE VALUATOR strive to create something to remember.
Their debut album How Fleeting, How Fragile was released on August 3rd 2018, receiving critical acclaim both from media and from fans of the genre. The band started to make a name for themselves live, playing at events such as Euroblast and High 5ive Summer Fest and touring the UK/EU in 2018. More touring and new material is planned for 2020.
