Punk rock trio TRASHED release video for new single 'Disgusting'
Trashed Promo Resize .jpg

Punk rock trio TRASHED have released a video for their new single 'Disgusting'. The track follows the band's previous singles 'Isn't That Cute' and 'Charlie Sheen', all taken from their forthcoming EP Faceplant which is due for release on 24th April 2020.

"Disgusting is about a party romance from the point of view of someone who couldn't find their confidence, and so just watches with envy," the band explain.

Check out the video for 'Disgusting' here: https://youtu.be/9QISCjTT_Ls

For fans of Sum 41, early-era Green Day and Blink-182TRASHED are Bristol's answer to 90s/00s style punk rock, delivering a unique sound of neck-breaking riffs and throat shredding melodies that are soaked in a sense of nostalgia.

All it took was Green Day's secret set at Reading 2012 for Jimmy, Ben and Sam to become best friends and start making music together. In 2018 Jimmy and Ben decided to drop out of University and drag Sam away from his 9-5 to start TRASHED.

The trio released their first single, ‘Waste Away’, from their debut EP Yours Not Mine in early 2019. Their first year as a band was spent playing shows across the UK, cramming back into the recording studio and building a strong team around them.

TRASHED worked with producer Neil Kennedy (Milk TeethCreeperBoston Manor) to cultivate the sound for their stripped-back, catchy, 90s inspired punk rock songs that explore topics including vegetarianism, dealing with anxiety and trying at all costs to avoid a 9-5 job.

Prog-psych-doom rockers ELEPHANT TREE stream new single/video
promo 1resize.jpg

London-based prog-psych-doom artisans ELEPHANT TREE have streamed their new single/video 'Bird', taken from their highly-anticipated third album Habits, after four years of honing their sound on the international live circuit.

Watch the video for 'Bird' here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdKfohDIFUI

In the words of the band: "'Bird' is about having and raising a child, the innocence and fragility of the child in a sometimes hostile and difficult world. You hope to do right by them but know from experience that fairness is not guaranteed."

Released April 24th via Holy Roar Records / Deathwish Inc., you can pre-order Habits here: http://smarturl.it/elephanttree

The champions of the underground have delivered perhaps their most cohesive record yet, a scintillating blur of prog, stoner, psych, and melodic heavy rock. Opening on a hazy note of foreboding dread on 'Wake.Repeat (Intro)', the band explode into life soon after and rarely let up.

Every aspect of ELEPHANT TREE’s previously established sound has been amplified to 11 and fine-tuned to perfection. Their heavy, driving, grooves hold a more calculated rhythmic swing counterbalanced with leads that hold a soberingly clear gentleness. This is all tied together with vocals that possess a charming hedonism to their timbre, sure to win over legions more fans.

Elements of a heavy Pink FloydMelvins, and Deftones all combine with exhilarating effect, cementing the status of this group who have already sold tens of thousands of records and streams into the millions.

The union of sonic density and yearning is captured wonderfully, thanks in no small part to the band's production choice of The Church Studios, famed for the sounds of U2Nick CaveThe Jesus and Mary Chain and Adele amongst others.

If the sound of Kyuss and Smashing Pumpkins partying with Hunter S. Thompson and Cult Of Luna in an arena sounds like a good time, then this is the album for you. If there's any justice, 2020 will be the year ELEPHANT TREE bloom out of best kept underground secret into a household name.

French tech-death masters Exocrine release new single and album details
press shot small.jpg

Bordeaux, France-based masters of technical death metal EXOCRINE have announced the release of new album Maelstrom on 26th June  via Unique Leader. The band have also premiered the music video for the title-track.

Premiered via MetalSucks.net, watch the video to 'Maelstrom' here: https://youtu.be/Afl6zx2beX8

Maelstrom is the band's fourth album since their inception in 2013, and first with new drummer Théo Gendron.

The band commented, "We really pushed our limits this time, in composition and production. We put all our creativity into this album to make Maelstrom as surprising as possible while remaining true to our style.

"The arrival of Théo in the band has allowed us to try new things like extreme tempos, but also very difficult and proggy parts. We’ve really pushed ourselves to create a sound that works perfectly on the album but also on stage.

"Because it’s our 4th album we wanted to deeply explore our imagination, that’s why we have some guests on Maelstrom in order to further enrich our universe. This time we’ve really experimented with new sounds and instruments.

"Anyway, it is certainly intense, but also crazy and fun!"

Greece's largest rock band 1000mods release new single
YOD Gun Shhh.jpg

Greece's largest rock band of the last decade, 1000mods, have released their new single from forthcoming LP Youth of Dissent (1st May (UK) and 24th April (RoW) release).

Stream and purchase 'So Many Days' here: https://1000mods.hearnow.com/smd

Youth of Dissent is available to pre-order on special edition vinyl, standard vinyl, and CD here: https://1000mods.bandcamp.com/album/youth-of-dissent

The band comment: "'So Many Days' is about trying to figure out who you are. No matter all the changes you're going through, remaining true to yourself is one of the few things that really matter, especially in weird times like the ones we live in."

Produced by Matt Bayles (IsisMastodonSoundgardenPearl Jam, Botch and many more), and recorded at Litho Studio (owned by Stone Gossard, founding member of Pearl JamTemple of the Dog) and London Bridge Studio (where Pearl Jam’s Ten was recorded), Youth of Dissent is 1000mods' most mature record to date.

Having risen from smoky basements to packed arenas, 1000mods can be considered no less than the most successful Greek rock band of the past decade.

Deriving equally from the glorious 90's and the 70's (not only songwriting-wise but also due to their love for vintage equipment and analogue sound), 1000mods have never hesitated to blend all their influences. Retro, hard, doom, and space rock melded with grunge and alternative create a recipe of explosive heavy music that’s impossible to imitate.

1000mods offer inspired, powerful and uniquely fresh heavy tunes, satisfying everyone from stoners to metalheads, for over a decade. Their debut Super Van Vacation (2011) is now considered a classic in European heavy rock, as well as a game-changer for Greek rock music, selling tens of thousands of copies.

Praised by fans and press throughout the globe, the band's previous release Repeated exposure to... (2016) affirmed their place within European heavy rock and roll. The band went on to tour the US in February-March 2018, following that with a sold-out tour of Australia.

Boasting millions of streams and fans worldwide, 1000mods are stepping up with Youth of Dissent, a fearsome blend of taut songwriting, hard-hitting riffs, haunting melodies and hefty psychedelia.

Norwegian punks LÜT reveal Coronavirus challenge
LÜT Press picture by Hans Marius Mikkelsen and Ørjan Nyborg Myrland (2)RESIZE.jpg

Norwegian punk quintet LÜT have revealed a Coronvirus-caused challenge which will be streamed tomorrow, Saturday 28th March at 9am GMT.

All five members of LÜT will shovel the seven tonnes of snow currently covering their trailer.

In the words of the band: "Just as with many other bands and artists these days, all of our gigs have been cancelled, causing a lack of much needed income. It’s extra challenging for us as a band to set up a streaming concert, which has become a very popular thing of late. We’re looking into different solutions, but before we can do anything at all, we have to shovel our band car-trailer free of snow and park it on a legal parking space. And we live in Tromsø in Northern Norway, so that is a full day of hard work, which we also won’t get paid for. Or?"

We will do a live stream of us shoveling snow! You can either enjoy watching some hard-working guys busting their asses off for free, or you can support us on lutband.com/donation with whatever amount you feel the job is worth."

As a thanks to their supporters, the band will be releasing their new music video for the single 'We Will Save Scandirock' once the challenge is complete.

Stream 'We Will Save Scandirock', and pre-order the band's forthcoming LP Mersmak (25th September release via Indie Recordings) here: https://orcd.co/mersmaklut

'We Will Save Scandirock' continues LÜT's no-holds-barred, no-frills approach to modern rock. The album, Mersmak, roughly translates as 'Taste for more / Wanting more', a fitting title for this infectiously raucous group. Elements of TurbonegroBlood CommandKvelertak and more combine to exhilarating and beguiling effect, and cements the band's rising status as ones to watch following their critically acclaimed debut Pandion (2017).

Ever since their foundation, LÜT have been a band that have captivated rock audiences, making a name for themselves in Norway. With their debut album, LÜT were nominated for 'New Band of the Year' in both the Norwegian Grammys Spellemannprisen and the Norwegian Radio award show P3 Gull. They have also found a fan in Lars Ulrich, who praised them on his podcast 'It’s Electric'. The band have also recently played at Summer Breeze Open AirReeperbahnØya and Tons Of Rock, as well as several other Norwegian festivals.

"We went through highs and lows writing this album, and it was definitely a learning process which made the band stronger as a whole. As such; making this album has been a type of contemplation. We’re excited to have finished the ‘difficult second album’ and couldn’t have hoped for a better result. It’s great to finally be able to show the world what we’ve been working on,” says vocalist Markus Danjord.

The band have made some changes to the line-up in the last year, as guitarist Mads Ystmark (Heave Blood and Die) has replaced former members Hans Marius Mikkelsen and Viljar Ratama Dunderovic. Following this change, LÜT spent their months in Norway and abroad, finishing their second album.

Mersmak was mixed by Mike Schuppan (ParamoreM83Jimmy Eat World), mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (ConvergeKyle Dixon & Michael Stein Stranger Things Soundtracks), and recorded in Giske and Tromsø, Norway, and Bronson Island in Los Angeles, USA.

AUGUST BURNS RED stream new single 'Paramount'
Promo-26resize.jpg

AUGUST BURNS RED have released their new single 'Paramount', another glimpse into their highly anticipated eighth full-length, Guardians, out 3rd April on Fearless Records.

Stream 'Paramount' here: found.ee/paramount_yt

And pre-order the record here: http://found.ee/guardians

"'Paramount' is one of my favorite songs from Guardians," says lead guitarist JB Brubaker. "It has that classic ABR sound with a bunch of tempo changes and different time signatures. But there's a recurring melody that glues the whole song together. I think this is a song that longtime fans of the band are going to love."

Drummer Matt Greiner further explains, "At times over the last several years, I felt indifferent and uninterested towards the things that used to fuel me. I learned there is actually meaning in suffering. It's not random and without purpose. I found that the more I faced the fire, the more empathetic I became towards other people who are also hurting. I found meaning in the pain and stopped running from it. That's what 'Paramount' is about."

The two-time GRAMMY Award-nominated Pennsylvania quintet have been upholding the artistic pillars of technical proficiency, airtight grooves, and thoughtful lyricism in the hard rock world for 17 years now, and return with their most cohesive and collaborative album to date.

About AUGUST BURNS RED

Following the seminal Messengers [2007] and Constellations [2009], August Burns Red infiltrated the mainstream via 2015's Found In Far Away Places. The latter stood out as their second straight #9 bow on the Billboard Top 200, in addition to garnering the group its first GRAMMY® Award nomination in the
category of ‘Best Metal Performance for ‘Identity’. The momentum increased with the arrival of Phantom Anthem in 2017. Marking the group's fourth Top 20 debut on the Billboard Top 200, it paved the way for their second Best Metal Performance GRAMMY® nod for ‘Invisible Enemy’. The record ushered their
career streams past the 100 million-mark as it earned four-out-of-five stars from the likes of Alternative Press and Kerrang! Between sold-out shows worldwide, ABR continued a 15-year tradition of holiday shows by launching the Christmas Burns Red Festival. Now, their 2020 eighth full-length, Guardians
[Fearless Records], sees them not only preserve but perfect their DNA-distinct and definitive sound.

PHOXJAW announce debut album Royal Swan and release new single 'Half House'
Phoxjaw 2020 Resize .jpg

The endlessly mercurial, maverick Bristolian quartet PHOXJAW have announced their debut full-length record, Royal Swan, due for release on 3rd July 2020 via Hassle Records. To coincide with the announcement the band have released the first single from the record, 'Half House'.

Check out the video for 'Half House' here: https://youtu.be/E5mkMlrPrHg

Pre-order Royal Swan here: https://smarturl.it/Royal_Swan

Born from a cabin-fevered recording experience at Devil’s Bridge in Wales, Royal Swan harks back to a fantastical medieval England. Without being overtly political, Royal Swan also details the tension inherent in modern day Great Britain – the sense of isolation and resentment the United Kingdom has fostered versus trying to retain a sense of pride in one’s own country. Listen out especially for the title-track and opening track for this.

To this end, and in classic PHOXJAW style, Royal Swan enlists a range of local musicians and sound-experiences, adding to the band’s core unique sound. Devil’s Bridge Cottage leaves its mark on the record, fostering PHOXJAW’s claustrophobic recording experience and physically shaping the sound, with each band member recording in separate rooms (and guitars in an airing cupboard).

Self-produced, with drums recorded by Lewis JohnsRoyal Swan marks PHOXJAW’s step into the limelight following two highly respected EPs (2018's Goodbye Dinosaur... and 2019's A Playground For Sad Adults). A rare group who combine humour, quirk, intrigue, a huge range of influences, and power, PHOXJAW are a band who’ll never stop having things to say.

Having toured with Black PeaksPaganZakk Sabbath’s cruise, Loathe and plenty more already, PHOXJAW have begun making waves in the UK underground rock scene. Solid support from Kerrang!, Metal Hammer, Dan P Carter’s BBC R1 Rock Show, Total Guitar Magazine and more has earmarked this band as ones to watch, and rightly so.

PHOXJAW are:

Danny Garland - vocals/bass
Josh Gallop - guitar/keys
Kieran Gallop - drums
Alexander Share - guitar/vocals

Dave Simonich of SIGNS OF THE SWARM releases vocal rendition of DOOM ETERNAL track
unnamed - 2020-03-25T144454.508.jpg

SIGNS OF THE SWARM vocalist David Simonich has teamed up with Cerebral Audio Productions to record a vocal rendition of 'The Only Thing They Fear Is You' from the DOOM Eternal game soundtrack, to celebrate its release.

Watch the videohttps://youtu.be/ewtMu0M_28E

David commented, “As a long time fan, I originally submitted myself to be in the metal choir, and I didn’t get the audition. After this I sat down and thought of a way to be a part of the doom community.. but in my own way. I wanted to celebrate the release of DOOM ETERNAL and decided to demonstrate how awesome vocals would sound on the composure, Mick Gordon’s material. All the way around this was a super fun project and I had a blast!”

SIGNS OF THE SWARM are a five-piece death metal horde hailing from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. Combining various styles such as death metal, slam, and hardcore, each song SIGNS OF THE SWARM conjure is sure to maim and crush. With their catchy riffs, raunchy breakdowns, maniacal vocals and off-the-rails, un-apologetically heavy brand of sonic deviance, SIGNS OF THE SWARM have become a vital part of the heavy music underground. New album Vital Deprivation is out now via Unique Leader.
