Metal band for kids SLAY DUGGEE release cover of Elton John classic 'I'm Still Standing'
SlayDuggee_BandPhoto_CraufurdArmsMK.jpg

Metal band for kids SLAY DUGGEE release their new video, a cover version of the Elton John classic ‘I’m Still Standing’.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/fEa6T9PvkDg

The song has been a staple at kids' discos since Taron Egerton’s gorilla Johnny closed the animated film ‘Sing’ with it. Now here is the metal version you never knew you needed to keep kids active and motivated at home.

Kids all over the world have been on lockdown for weeks. Can you imagine how long this feels when you are six years old? SLAY DUGGEE want to help them get through this with some metal motivation, and celebrate how good the kids have been at staying home and staying safe.

Black Shuck singer, “I’m Still Standing seemed like the perfect track, it’s all about being resilient against adversity. It’s also good for jumping around and shouting.”

SLAY DUGGEE recorded this track in their home studios while on lockdown. They shot the video on their laptops to show kids how to enjoy listening to metal in different places in your homes.

The track has been mixed and mastered by former The Prodigy engineer and mixer Dave Pemberton at MCC Studios.

Continuing some popular lockdown themes, SLAY DUGGEE have added a bear hunt into the video and some rainbows. See if you or your kids can spot them all.

Singer Black Shuck says “A daily 30 minutes of high intensity moshing in your living room is better than watching Joe Wicks. Kids will come out fitter, stronger, and with a better knowledge of blast beats. Just remember to try to fit in a short rest before the breakdown kicks in.”

Drummer Ozzy OzBone says “We want kids to stay home, stay safe and stay metal.”

Singer Ricky Bow-Wow says “Moshing is fun...but make sure you secure a decent perimeter. When the flat screen TV gets trashed by a mid morning circle pit gone wrong... nobody’s laughing.”

SLAY DUGGEE music videos: https://www.youtube.com/slayduggee

SLAY DUGGEE formed in January 2018. Only 48 hours later, the hounds' first single ‘Stick’ was played on BBC Radio 6 Music by Steve Lamacq.  Lamacq dubbed SLAY DUGGEE the ‘Lords of Toddler Metal’ and personally requested a cover of the theme tune to BBC CBeebies show 'Sarah & Duck'.

Since then, SLAY DUGGEE have gone on to give hundreds of thousands of kids their first taste of heavy metal. They’ve been selling out venues around the UK with their ‘My First Metal Gig’ shows, including a VIP set at Bloodstock.

SLAY DUGGEE have previously collaborated with TesseracT guitarist James Monteith, and Nekrogoblikon vocalist and songwriter Nicky “Scorpion” Calonne with their cover of The Lego Movie’s 'Everything Is Awesome'. And TesseracT vocalist Daniel Tompkins on a cover of The Snowman’s ‘Walking in the Air’

SLAY DUGGEE are:

Ricky Bow-Wow - vocals
Black Shuck - drums/vocals
Teddy Wall Street - bass/guitar
Mütley Crüz - guitar
Ozzy Ozbone - drums

Norwegian punks LÜT stream new single 'LÜTetro'
LÜT Press picture by Hans Marius Mikkelsen and Ørjan Nyborg Myrland (2)RESIZE.jpg

Norwegian quintet LÜT have streamed their new single 'LÜTetro', a driving, exhilarating post-punk anthem.

Stream here: https://orcd.co/lutetro

Pre-order the band's forthcoming LP Mersmak (25th September release via Indie Recordings) here: https://orcd.co/mersmaklut

'LÜTetro' continues the band's no-holds-barred, no-frills approach to modern rock as seen in previous tracks 'We Will Save Scandirock' and 'Mersmak', the title track from LÜT's forthcoming LP. Mersmak roughly translates as 'Taste for more / Wanting more', a fitting title for this infectiously raucous group. Elements of TurbonegroBlood CommandKvelertak and more combine to exhilarating and beguiling effect, and cements the band's rising status as ones to watch following their critically acclaimed debut Pandion (2017).

Ever since their foundation, LÜT have been a band that have captivated rock audiences, making a name for themselves in Norway. With their debut album, LÜT were nominated for 'New Band of the Year' in both the Norwegian Grammys Spellemannprisen and the Norwegian Radio award show P3 Gull. They have also found a fan in Lars Ulrich, who praised them on his podcast 'It’s Electric'. The band have also recently played at Summer Breeze Open AirReeperbahnØya and Tons Of Rock, as well as several other Norwegian festivals.

"We went through highs and lows writing this album, and it was definitely a learning process which made the band stronger as a whole. As such; making this album has been a type of contemplation. We’re excited to have finished the ‘difficult second album’ and couldn’t have hoped for a better result. It’s great to finally be able to show the world what we’ve been working on,” says vocalist Markus Danjord.

The band have made some changes to the line-up in the last year, as guitarist Mads Ystmark (Heave Blood and Die) has replaced former members Hans Marius Mikkelsen and Viljar Ratama Dunderovic. Following this change, LÜT spent their months in Norway and abroad, finishing their second album.

Mersmak was mixed by Mike Schuppan (ParamoreM83Jimmy Eat World), mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (ConvergeKyle Dixon & Michael Stein Stranger Things Soundtracks), and recorded in Giske and Tromsø, Norway, and Bronson Island in Los Angeles, USA.

TEETH record and release quarantine single 'Deathrace'
TEETH - BlakeTeethRed.jpg

Following the launch of new band TEETH, the trio's debut tour and recording plans have all been cancelled due to the Covid-19 crisis. Currently under quarantine, the band are proving that they are an unstoppable force, having recorded their new single 'Deathrace' about the current situation, all remotely from their own home studios.

Watch the video to 'Deathrace' here: https://youtu.be/ilpZ0u94wUg

Listen here: https://open.spotify.com/album/1t7C0ONiMpVUEvVWQZIfqx?si=c4Um-NwAT1ST0pG-6t2MGg

Featuring vocalist Blake Prince (ex-Straight Reads the Line, Anniversary), guitarist Chris LeMasters (Hundred Suns, ex-Dead and Divine), and drummer Ryan "Legs" Leger (Hundred Suns, Norma Jean, ex-Every Time I Die), TEETH play pummelling hardcore with metallic precision; the perfect sonic combination to express their rage and frustration.

Guitarist Chris LeMasters commented: "After having to cancel our touring plans for the foreseeable future and re-schedule the recording of our new record due to this Covid-19 pandemic, we said f*ck it - let's keep moving however we can. We refuse to be a band that complains or stands still because circumstances aren't ideal. TEETH is a fight - it's uncomfortable because that's exactly what it's meant to be, and this is no different."

On the topic of 'Deathrace' Chris continues: "We were all going to be stuck at home anyways, so why not write/record a song about our personal experiences with this whole thing. 'Deathrace' touches on the negative mental impact global events like this can have on people while also asking "Are WE the real problem? Are we the f*ckin' plague?". While so many of us are quarantining ourselves to help stop the spread of this virus, you can still turn on the television and see parks full of people, college kids throwing house parties, packed beaches in Florida, all while governments turn to having to legally enforce social distancing with fines and penalties. It's almost like we - the human race - want to self-destruct. This is an unfortunate but interesting event to live through. It's very telling. "

The band wasted no time in thinking outside the box to create 'Deathrace', and quickly enlisted the help they needed to turn it around in a matter of days. Chris continues: "As for the recording process, we recorded everything remotely (and individually) from our homes while self-isolating. Our close friend Davis Maxwell took the tracks and mixed/mastered the song from his personal studio space, and our pal Morgan Tedd helped create this video for us. We wanted it to showcase humanity collapsing in on itself because that's really what this whole thing can feel like at times. We needed this to be a stark reminder of what COULD happen if we don't take things like this seriously."

And ultimately, this song is for those who have supported the launch of TEETHChris concludes: "And of course, on top of ALL of that, we just wanted to give something back. So many fans have reached out after we cancelled these tours and bought merch, shared our music, or shown support one way or another. This is our way of saying "thank you" and hopefully giving everyone something to bang their heads to while they're locked up at home. Plus, what better time than now to piss off your neighbors? Turn that sh*t up."

Check out 'Deathrace' streaming on all platforms now.

AUGUST BURNS RED release new video for 'Bones'
Promo-26resize.jpg

AUGUST BURNS RED have released the video for their smashing single 'Bones', taken from the glorious new LP Guardians, out now on Fearless Records.

Watch the video for 'Bones' here: https://found.ee/abrbonesvideo

Purchase Guardians here: http://found.ee/guardians

In the words of guitarist Brent Rambler"The video for 'Bones' is possibly the coolest music video we've ever done. It takes the song title quite literally, and creates an awesome and visually stunning video. It was a weird video for us to shoot, because for the vast majority of it we had to stand perfectly still, so all of the x-ray and other effects could line up properly. That's definitely a departure from a usual music video where you are supposed to bang your head as hard as possible all day long. We've been at this for a while so our old 'Bones' (wink) were happy for the change of pace."

The two-time GRAMMY Award-nominated Pennsylvania quintet have been upholding the artistic pillars of technical proficiency, airtight grooves, and thoughtful lyricism in the hard rock world for 17 years now, and return with their most cohesive and collaborative album to date, receiving plaudits from Metal Hammer, Kerrang!, Rock Sound, BBC Radio 1 and plenty more.

About AUGUST BURNS RED

Following the seminal Messengers [2007] and Constellations [2009], August
Burns Red infiltrated the mainstream via 2015's Found In Far Away Places. The
latter stood out as their second straight #9 bow on the Billboard Top 200, in
addition to garnering the group its first GRAMMY® Award nomination in the
category of " Best Metal Performance" for "Identity." The momentum increased
with the arrival of Phantom Anthem in 2017. Marking the group's fourth Top 20
debut on the Billboard Top 200, it paved the way for their second "Best Metal
Performance" GRAMMY® nod for "Invisible Enemy." The record ushered their
career streams past the 100 million-mark as it earned four-out-of-five stars
from the likes of Alternative Press and Kerrang! Between sold-out shows
worldwide, ABR continued a 15-year tradition of holiday shows by launching
the Christmas Burns Red Festival. Now, their 2020 eighth full-length, Guardians
[Fearless Records], sees them not only preserve but perfect their DNA-distinct
and definitive sound.

5 Easy Steps You Can Do Right Now To Market Your Band

5 Easy Steps You Can Do Right Now To Market Your Band

By Darren Gosling, Head of Digital, Hold Tight PR

Since the Covid-19 virus turned the world on its head, everyone in the music industry has faced challenges that they’ve never encountered before and as a result it’s not easy to stay positive and think practically for the future when dealing with worrying global situations as unusual and unique as this.

I often find that what helps me to focus and keep things in perspective are just simple lists of tasks I know I can write down and get done every day, so I stay productive and maintain a sense of control and accomplishment, no matter how small it is.

If you’re in a band or working for a band, then you’ve probably had tours, festivals or gigs cancelled, releases delayed, jobs fall through, studio time cancelled, in short a lot of unexpected changes that have forced you into a new situation that’s driving us all to rethink our plans of action.

Despite the financial loss many of us are facing, there are in fact plenty of tasks that we can do, and must do, to try to take advantage of this situation and keep ourselves going so that we can come out of this on the other side fighting and ready to hit the ground running.

If you’re in a band and find yourself with time to spare, go through this list and I promise it will pay off for you in the future. Now is not the time to stop, hide or give up on the music that you’ve worked very hard to make and promote. Now is the time for action.

Here are my top 5 things that you can do today to help yourself tomorrow:

  1. Get organised

  2. Install tracking

  3. Design & create

  4. Free content

  5. Advertise & promote

Get Organised

Firstly, it’s time to tackle your band’s admin! Go through all of your social profiles and make sure that everything is up to date. I’m talking ALL OF IT. Yes, even that pokey little info blurb to the right hand side of your Facebook page that no one ever reads. Well, now is the time to add a picture and put some information in it. Make it useful information at that. Links to your music, name of your latest single - something a fan would find valuable. Just don’t leave it blank!

Make sure all of your ‘Contact’ and ‘About Us’ information is up to date. Get rid of any old crappy looking pictures from when you first started and couldn’t dress yourselves properly. Remove any ugly, dodgy or ‘off brand’ content from your news feeds and images.

Update your website! If you're rocking a website for your band that you made back in 1999 and it still looks like it's from 1999 - change it! Or get rid of it.

If you’ve got merch, make sure it's all on your website, make sure all of the inventory is up to date, make sure you’ve linked it up to your Facebook page, so that people can buy through that.

This is important for step two.

Add Tracking

Go to YouTube and type in ‘How to install a Facebook pixel’, then go through the steps to install it onto your website. Open a Facebook business manager account and set it up on there. This will pay off IN SPADES! (not literally spades) Everything will become so much easier if you organise your band’s Facebook and Instagram through the business manager platform.

The pixel will provide you data, information on what pages and what actions people took on your site such as clicking buttons to buy tickets and what items they added to their shopping cart.

Selling merch is literally one of the only ways bands can make decent money and just because people can’t come to a show and buy it, doesn’t mean they can’t or won’t support you by buying online.

If you get super into this, go and research how to install the ‘Google tag manager pixel’ as well.

Design & Create

If you're visually creative, if you have design skills, can draw, paint etc or even if you don’t - go to Fivver.com and search designer, logo design etc and hire someone for £5.

Revamp your logo if it’s old, if it looks out of date or cheesy. Now might be a good time to start coming up with new alternatives.

The same goes for your merch designs. Time to improve. Shake things up and try different images. Have a look around your favourite bands or others in your genre and do your own version of what they do. Just because someone buys your t-shirt doesn't mean they like it, most of the time they're just being supportive. A band is a brand etc etc. If you can actually sell something that looks good, you’ll sell more. Simple.

marketing.jpg

Free Content

I love this one. It’s time consuming and requires effort but so many people are doing this right now and it’s awesome.

Going live on Instagram for live Q&As with your fans. Live jam rehearsals. Play throughs. There are so many ideas! So many of us are stuck inside at the moment, it’s a great way to interact with fans by uploading a video of you playing your tracks so in turn your fans can do the same. Maybe some people in the band have other interests and skills outside of music and want to create a VLOG about it that your fans might find interesting.

It’s free to record a video on your phone and upload it online. Maintaining a presence is key because it lets people know you still exist and you care.

Advertise and Promote

I’m not saying you should spend lots of money on advertising. Although I do believe that if you have a release scheduled and the plan was to drop a video or whatever then still go ahead as planned because a lot of people are online right now and Facebook & YouTube are still the best ways of reaching new fans.

But you don’t have to spend a lot if you can’t afford to. Just pick one platform. If getting views for a new video is important then choose YouTube. If growing a fanbase with whom you can share more detailed offers like a merch sale campaign is your objective then pick Facebook because the targeting is more specific there.

Go smaller. Why not try running a very small local campaign aimed at your specific demographics in just your local town for £5 a day? You can do this on either Facebook or YouTube by selecting your specific town or city from within the locations options inside the ad platform when creating your campaign.

I'll be putting out further videos on this topic in the coming days so subscribe to our YouTube channel here to stay up to date on our content.

Why not promote your live streams to your pre-existing fans and create a lookalike audience to retarget with the same content to reach news ones.

If you're making the content anyway, reaching a more focused smaller group is cheaper and less expensive to run.

Maybe you had planned to film a video that got cancelled but the track is still coming out and you want to promote it. Try running it as an audio ad on Spotify. We now provide that service for bands and it's a great means of getting your music heard by the millions of users on Spotify's free platform.

A lot of these tips are FREE to do, they just require time and effort. There’s never a lack of resources, just a lack of resourcefulness. So learn to delegate and think as creatively as you can.

Hell just learn to use Tik Tok - that's next on my list!

Share tasks out amongst your group, don’t try to do everything in one go. Just take it one step at a time and make the most of what you can at your disposal. The winners are the ones who take action and make an effort.

Have you got any more ideas to add to this list? Maybe you're already doing them. If you need help or advise in any area of digital marketing for your band then I’d love to hear from you. Get in touch and reach out, my email is darren@holdtightpr.com.

Ghost Iris share new track 'Made To Rust'
Ghost Iris 2020.jpg

Progressive groove metallers GHOST IRIS once again show the world what stern stuff they are made of with their new standalone single ‘Made To Rust’.

Listen to 'Made To Rust' here: https://youtu.be/LvTQk3KplLw

Stream here: https://open.spotify.com/album/6mN3h6KqLvCac1t57y1u7g

Written between the releases of albums Blind World (2017, Long Branch Records/SPV) and Apple Of Discord (2019, Long Branch Records/SPV), ‘Made To Rust’ combines the more djenty and clean approach of the band's earlier sound, and the heavier, groovier and darker sound they have been progressing towards ever since.

GHOST IRIS comment: “We are thrilled to present our new song 'Made To Rust' to the world. We hope you enjoy what turned out to be one of our heaviest songs ever as much as we do. 'Made To Rust' has been resting for a while after having been written, but is now more than ready to mosh the pit up! Unfortunately we won't be able to play the song live for you for the time being, as our EU/UK tour with Our Hollow, Our Home in April/May this year had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 crisis, but since #musicneverstops, we hope that you will be able to enjoy our new single at home just as well."

Germany's biggest prog-metal export THE HIRSCH EFFEKT release new single/video 'Bilen'
shot 2.jpg

THE HIRSCH EFFEKT share their new single / video 'Bilen', the second track from the band's 5th studio album Kollaps, out 8th May 2020 via Long Branch Records

Listen / watch 'Bilen' here: https://youtu.be/G-aDNj7T6lA

THE HIRSCH EFFEKT comment: "BILEN was mainly written by Nils and like 'Lysios' from our previous record, it purposely alludes to the sound of world famous German band Rammstein. Tim Tautorat, the engineer, producer and mixer of the album, as well as avowed motorist, commented on the lyrics with: 'What a funny and true text.' It belongs to the more sarcastic tracks, just like 'Tardigrada' from our previous record."

Kollaps follows the highly successful Eskapist album, which charted at #21 in Germany. Kollaps encounters everyday madness with elaborate counterpoints and ludicrous lyric lines. The band tackle current social issues with a focus on the debate around the "Fridays For Future" movement.

'Bilen' and previous single 'Noja' are now available as stream and download on all digital platforms.

Kollaps will be available as Box-Set, CD/LP+T-Shirt Bundle, CD, 2LP, stream and download. Pre-order the album here thehirscheffekt.lnk.to/kollaps

After their last album Eskapist (2017), which charted #21 on the German album charts, and formidable show-offs at Wacken Open Air, Full Force Festival and as recent headliners at the renowned Euroblast Festival, THE HIRSCH EFFEKT have now spawned their new ogre. Musically, the trio from Hanover, Germany, has once again settled in the microcosm of progressive metal and enhanced their songs with their typical trademark of – at first glance totally out of the line – genre-hopping.

Similar as on previous records, it happens again by Hirsch-style chopping of parts and beats, that first off felt safe and usual. In between chorals resound, helping to find one's way back to a necessary recollection. On the one side it's a euphonious, on the other side a hurting listening experience that leads to a heightened perception of the exposure of the human disorientation, and serves as a call to the solitary consciousness of courageous individuals - to gather together at concerts.

Live, this symbolic demise is celebrated purification. This can be celebrated together with the fans at upcoming shows, by the way of indulging unison and clamor, questioning oneself whether their own heart and thoughts have gone prone to egoism or still are in line with the harmony of hope, that is hidden within Kollaps.

THE HIRSCH EFFEKT are:

Moritz Schmidt (Drums)
Nils Wittrock (Guitar, Vocals)
Ilja John Lappin (Bass, Vocals)

WINTERFYLLETH Release New Single 'Misdeeds Of Faith'
unnamed - 2020-04-03T100540.992.jpg

British Black Metal pioneers WINTERFYLLETH have released their merciless new song 'Misdeeds Of Faith', the second single to be taken from their forthcoming new album The Reckoning Dawn which is set for release on 8th May 2020 via Candlelight Records/Spinefarm Records.

Listen to the new single 'Misdeeds Of Faith' and pre-order the forthcoming album The Reckoning Dawn here: https://winterfylleth.lnk.to/TheReckoningDawn

"The new single, 'Misdeeds Of Faith', is a really immediate, aggressive and visceral song for Winterfylleth, and is probably the song least like the others on the album," comments guitarist/vocalist Chris Naughton.  "But for me that's no bad thing, as it's an interesting twist on the Winterfylleth sound in that it mixes a more 'up front' style of riffing with the chanted vocals and the elements of the band that might be more familiar to our fans. It's actually the first song on the new album and sets out the album as a triumphant return to Black Metal (after the acoustic album) and is hopefully a moment that makes people sit up and listen."

The first full length metal album since 2014’s The Divination of Antiquity, The Reckoning Dawn finds the band returning at the absolute top of their game, across an expansive journey of an album. Eight brand new songs of blistering, atmospheric and emotive black metal adorn the records near 60 minute running length and serves to highlight the strength and depth of material in the WINTERFYLLETH canon, resulting in one of the darkest and most powerful records of 2020.

Recorded and produced once again by the legendary Chris Fielding (Primordial, Napalm Death, Conan, Electric Wizard, Fen) at Foel Studios in Wales, The Reckoning Dawn shows the band at their strongest.

The band recently had to cancel their forthcoming headline tour, 'The Reckoning of Europe' with support from Mork, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic worldwide. Dates throughout April and May have been postponed with a view to rescheduling, however at the time of writing, further live dates to catch WINTERFYLLETH in July and August are still scheduled to go ahead (subject to change). More dates will be announced shortly.

The Reckoning Dawn will be released via Candlelight Records/Spinefarm Records on 8th May. Preorder now: https://winterfylleth.lnk.to/TheReckoningDawn
