Indie rock sibling duo SEREVA have released an animated lyric video for their brand new single 'Pulling Strings'. The track marks the band's first new material since their 2018 debut EP Day By Day. 

'Pulling Strings' blends soothing vocals with twirling melodies and warming tones, a perfect soundtrack for the summer months ahead.

Born and raised in the North East of England, Neil-James and David were both musically inclined from a very young age, studying guitar and soon after joining bands. Taking opportunities to perform, the brothers started to subconsciously shape their unique musical style. The 20-something-year-old brothers moved to London to begin their music career as SEREVA. 
 
While at first, it seems the alt-rock guitar riffs are there to get your head bopping, they actually stand at a juxtaposition to the sometimes sombre lyrics. Having found inspiration from bands such as Radiohead, Thrice and Jeff Buckley, SEREVA’s music is often centred around social and political issues whilst experimenting with an array of genres, showing true textured variety from the two-piece.
 
Their debut EP, Day By Day, amassed thousands of streams on Spotify, in what could be the foreshadowing of success for their upfront and punchy new single ‘Pulling Strings’.

With more touring miles under their belts than most, INGESTED have honed their craft playing alongside the likes of Crowbar, The Black Dahlia Murder, Cannibal Corpse and many more. Now five albums in, their refined songwriting skills, technical precision and all-round ability to decimate come together to create one of the finest heavy albums of 2020.

Dominic Grimard (Ion Dissonance, The Last Felony) handled bass duties on the album and there are special guest appearances from Kirk Windstein (Crowbar, Down), Vincent Bennett (The Acacia Strain) and Matt Honeycutt (Kublai Khan).

The album was mixed and mastered by long time producer of INGESTED and Cryptopsy guitarist Christian Donaldson (Despised Icon, Beneath The Massacre, The Agonist), engineering was handled by both Nico Beninato and  Sam Yates at Foel Studios in Wales. Senicarne is a story of human ties evolving over time, an image of roots and attachments and symbolic representations of nature. Senicarne written backward (enracinés) translates as "rooted" in French; and "seni" "carne" translates as "old flesh" in Latin.

Such a thoughtful, symbolic approach is typical of FALL OF MESSIAH, a group who pair delicate, pathos-evoking melodies with cascading drums and rhythmic hypnotism, reminiscent of early Pianos Become The Teeth, Heaven In Her Arms and Envy. 

Track one ('La Republique du Vide' - The Republic of Void) is the band's entry point of observation: in their philosophy, nothing makes sense any more, as everything is futile and arguable by anyone. A sense of detachment and desire for novelty are in constant tension, a striking theme felt throughout the record.

FALL OF MESSIAH's vast melting pot of influences lean into emotive atmospherics whilst never once losing their sharper edges. Large sections of the nine songs on offer bubble and writhe instrumentally - showcasing a deft art of controlled chaos (‘Atlantique’ and ‘The Loneliest Whale in the World’), which only amplify and contrast with the frantically drastic urgency of cuts such as ‘Sequoia’. 

FALL OF MESSIAH's vision, distilling the spiritual essence of early emotional post-hardcore into expansive and emotionally ravaging mini-epics, has led to the band performing at ArcTanGent Festival, Dunk Festival, Ieperfest, and alongside Maybeshewill, Pelican, La Dispute, Rolo Tomassi, and more.

During the night of April 26th in 1986 a world-changing accident occurred at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine. Inspired by this catastrophe and its consequences,  CYTOTOXIN first pulverised the death metal world in 2010.

In 2011 the band released their self-produced full-length album Plutonium Heaven, and the following year they entered Kohlekeller Studios (Aborted, Benighted) to forge their highly appreciated second record Radiophobia. Since the release of Radiophobia via Unique Leader Records in 2012, CYTOTOXIN continually toured the clubs and festivals of Europe. In January 2017 the band returned to Kohlekeller Studios to record their highly anticipated third album Gammageddon, which was released later that year.

'Toxic Brother’ sees the band bundling their raw live energy into a dynamically dense song, with a number of surprises that can perhaps best be described as ‘Speedstoner’, with a hint of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. ‘Toxic Brother’ is a song that deals with one’s own potentially evil side. As per the classic gothic novella, ‘Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde’, it hints at the potentially diabolical spirit lurking inside the mind, awaiting realisation via the loosening of the shackles of outward morality, scratching, biting and digging its way out until it finally takes full control of the body.
