Norwegian dark rockers DJERV return with new single
Djerv_02_Photo_JørnVeberg.jpg

Acclaimed Norwegian dark rockers DJERV have finally returned, releasing their first new music in almost a decade.

Stream new single 'Throne' now: listen to it here https://orcd.co/throne, or watch the lyric video on YouTube. Watch Making of Throne Music Video HERE.

After some tough years for frontwoman AgneteDJERV are ready to restake their claim as one of the most significant heavy bands coming out of Norway.

Lyrically, the song has very different approach, telling the story of the band's sudden disappearance back in 2013.

“Today it's almost impossible for me to understand how bad I felt at times,” Agnete (vocals) says. The strain of carrying two children in less than two years, combined with serious health issues sent Agnete spiraling down into deep depression, eventually landing her in the psychiatric ward. “I totally lost my footing in life, and for years I was unable to function normally. It is still a fight, and I am not fully recovered – but I know now that I will get there,” she says.

“Too many people go through this, and the stigma around the disease that is depression is still all too present. So, I wanted to be open about my experience, and hopefully help others struggling to realize they are not alone. That it is not their fault, and that it can, and will get better with time. Throne is about fighting yourselves, your mind, and reclaiming control of your life. Reclaiming the Throne, and again be the ruler of your own kingdom.” Agnete comments.

2020 will also see at least 3 more DJERV singles and video releases, and an album is also in the making.

“We don’t have a set release date for a new album yet. As things are now we just have to take it song by song. But that's quite interesting and it makes it easier to focus. The task in front of you is not too unachievable, as I feel an album would be at this point. Baby steps,” comments Agnete.

DJERV entered the international heavy music scene in 2011 with a debut record well ahead of its time. Engineered by Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, In Flames) and mixed by Matt Hyde (Deftones, No Doubt) the self-titled album received critical acclaim from Sweden Rock MagazineMetal Hammer UKTerrorizer and Rock Tribune.

Charting at #8 in the official Norwegian charts, DJERV toured heavily, including with Ministry, and performed at Hellfest, Wacken, Eurosonic, and more.

Vocalist Agnete also contributed to Dimmu Borgir's most-streamed song 'Gateways', and the League of Legends song 'Get Jinxed', which now has well over 90,000,000 views on YouTube.

TEETH share powerful new single 'Writhe' and sign to New Damage Records
TEETH - BlakeTeethRed.jpg

Metallic hardcore trio TEETH — vocalist Blake Prince (ex-Straight Reads the Line, Anniversary), guitarist Chris LeMasters ( ex-Dead and Divine), and drummer Ryan "Legs" Leger (ex-Every Time I Die) — have released powerful and topical new song 'Writhe.'

The band have also announced signing to New Damage Records.

Listen to 'Writhe' here: https://youtu.be/o_0k-P_lpwI / https://orcd.co/teethwrithe

"'Writhe' hits extremely close to home for me," says LeMasters"I wrote it after finding out that a woman very near and dear to my heart had been both physically and mentally abused over the course of 15+ years. I never knew — she never felt safe enough to tell anyone. But that's just MY experience. 'Writhe' touches on those moments of helplessness and anger when you or someone you know and love has been oppressed, harmed, or abused by someone in a position of power. It dives into those dark moments when you fetishize doing awful things to that person. 'Writhe' is directed towards the oppressors, the cowards, the abusers, and the people who violate your trust, and take advantage of it — whether it's crooked police, a family member, or a spouse."

He continues, "I know this applies to so many people's lives right now, too. Whether it's the repeated, systemic abuse (and murder) of innocent black/POC citizens by corrupt law enforcement, or COVID-19 causing so many of us to be stuck at home unable to work, attend school, etc., resulting in more and more instances of domestic abuse as victims no longer have a daily escape. We wanted/NEEDED to write a song that gives those people a voice. It's angry, spiteful, and violent because we refuse to ignore those primal human emotions — good or bad. They're REAL, and I hope this song acts as an outlet of sorts to those victims."

TEETH stand with the victims and encourage fans to donate/check out the following charities:

ACT BLUE:
"We chose this fund because it splits all donations evenly across numerous organizations that help support the BLM Movement. Instead of only donating to ONE charity, this lets supporters donate to a variety."

CANADIAN WOMEN'S FOUNDATION:
"We also chose to support the Canadian Women's Foundation because it provides a variety of resources, education, and opportunities for women while actively promoting gender equality. The CWA focuses on women, girls, trans, genderqueer, non-binary, and 2SLGBTQI+ because they face distinct barriers that require distinct solutions and because gender equality improves economic and social conditions for everyone - whether it's helping victims escape home/spousal abuse, poverty, or supporting important efforts to flatten the curve of COVID-19 and promoting equal rights for the 2SLGBTQi+ community."

The band have also created the "No Justice, No Peace" tee, with 100% of the profits going to Black Lives Matter.

Now signed to New Damage Records, the Canadian-based band are gearing up to release a new EP this fall.

Earlier this spring, TEETH recorded the new song 'Deathrace' remotely from their individual home studios.

The band previously premiered the video for 'Smother' via Revolver and the video for 'Filth' via Alternative Press.

Debut song 'Destroyer.' can also be heard here.

Chernobyl-inspired German death metal quintet CYTOTOXIN stream new single 'Lupus Aurora'

German brutal death metallers CYTOTOXIN have unveiled the first taste of their new LP Nuklearth, set for release on 21st August via Unique Leader Records

During the night of April 26th in 1986 a world-changing accident occurred at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine. Inspired by this catastrophe and its consequences, CYTOTOXIN first pulverised the death metal world in 2010.

In 2011 the band released their self-produced full-length album Plutonium Heaven, and the following year they entered Kohlekeller Studios (Aborted, Benighted) to forge their highly appreciated second record Radiophobia. Since the release of Radiophobia via Unique Leader Records in 2012, CYTOTOXIN continually toured the clubs and festivals of Europe. In January 2017 the band returned to Kohlekeller Studios to record their highly anticipated third album Gammageddon, which was released later that year.

Ready to conquer the world with their new weapon Nuklearth, you better keep your gasmask at hand.

Australian prog prodigies EBONIVORY announce full album livestream
unnamed - 2020-06-15T150046.847.jpg

EBONIVORY, one of the fastest-rising acts of the progressive music scene, will be performing their acclaimed new LP The Long Dream I in full on Saturday 20th June.

The set will be streamed via metalinjection.net at the following times:

London: Saturday 20th June, 1am
Berlin: Saturday 20th June, 2am
Melbourne: Saturday 20th June, 10am

The one-off event marks the Australian band's stunning new album release, which has been critically acclaimed worldwide. Plaudits from Prog Magazine, Rock Tribune, Metal Hammer, and across Europe and beyond, have cemented EBONIVORY as a vital force in the burgeoning melodic prog metal scene. The album is currently celebrating hitting #1 on the Australian Independent Label Charts, among other strong chart positions and playlist support.

Order The Long Dream Ihttps://smarturl.it/thelongdreamI

Hailing from Ballarat in rural Victoria, Australia, Ebonivory’s The Long Dream I is the first of a two-part concept album, delivering a vision that is pure and unrestrained by musical conformity, often leaving the listener nostalgic, enraged, and paralysed within the span of seconds. Entirely self-produced, mastered by Forrester Savell (Karnivool), and led by singer Charlie Powlett’s emotionally powerful delivery, every song presents a completely unique reimagining of what progressive music is capable of. The music shifts from the punk-inspired moments of 'Hanmer Street' into the gritty, futuristic soundscapes of 'Explosions After Dark', and transcendental riffs and passages of 'Introvection' - all the while effortlessly maintaining cohesive melodic bonds, resembling a sequence of dreams.

The last twelve months have seen EBONIVORY rise through the progressive ranks to become a commanding live act. A whirlwind performance at Australia’s acclaimed PROGFEST, alongside international heavyweights The Ocean (Germany), Monuments (UK) and Skyharbor (India/USA) kicked off 2019 in a big way for the Victoria, Australia quintet. They then went on to support alt-rock powerhouse Dead Letter Circus and traversed the country with progressive rock juggernaut Circles for their The Winter Tour.

The band's singles 'Patting the Black Dog' and 'Tales Of Termina' landed coverage with PROG Magazine (UK), Triple J’s The Racket, Spotify’s Homegrown + Heavy Playlist, and Rage. EBONIVORY recently toured Australia with fellow prog-scene mates Glass Ocean and were due to head to the US and Canada in May, touring with Caligula's Horse. This is now postponed until 2021 due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

PHOXJAW release video for new single 'You Don't Drink A Unicorn's Blood'
PHOXJAW FINAL.jpg

Bristolian quartet PHOXJAW have released a video for 'You Don't Drink A Unicorn's Blood', the third single from their forthcoming debut album, Royal Swan, which is due for release on 3rd July 2020 via Hassle Records.

'You Don't Drink A Unicorn's Blood' follows PHOXJAW's previous single 'Triple AAA', which saw recent support from BBC Radio 1's Indie Show with Jack Saunders, as well as the Radio 1 Rock Show with Daniel P. Carter, Kerrang! Radio, Amazing Radio and more.

Watch the video for 'You Don't Drink A Unicorn's Blood' here: https://youtu.be/6rqCe9gIoC0

The band comment on the new single and video:

"'You Don’t Drink A Unicorn’s Blood' is the ugly, chaotic monster from the new album Royal Swan. Angry, sludgy and based on the more aggressive side of our band it touches on the topic of trophy hunting, interweaving a jovial delivery of a heavy subject matter. Wanting to show the sheer range the album hits upon, we decided something darker needed to be represented.

"Teaming up with James Harris to create the music video for this track, we wanted to counter the last video we put out during a time of strict lockdown. We wanted it to look polished and big budget, we travelled to the plains of Africa AKA (Sailsbury) dressed up as animals and hunters and got covered in blood..."

Pre-order Royal Swan here: https://smarturl.it/Royal_Swan

PHOXJAW recently announced their Royal Swan album release show, in partnership with Signature Brew. Due to the current lockdown the date for the event is to be confirmed, but tickets are on sale now and include a free beer. Those who purchase tickets and cannot make the date will be given a full refund.

Tickets are on sale here: http://signaturebrew.co.uk/phoxjaw

Born from a cabin-fevered recording experience at Devil’s Bridge in Wales, Royal Swan harks back to a fantastical medieval England. Without being overtly political, Royal Swan also details the tension inherent in modern day Great Britain – the sense of isolation and resentment the United Kingdom has fostered versus trying to retain a sense of pride in one’s own country. Listen out especially for the title-track and opening track for this.

To this end, and in classic PHOXJAW style, Royal Swan enlists a range of local musicians and sound-experiences, adding to the band’s core unique sound. Devil’s Bridge Cottage leaves its mark on the record, fostering PHOXJAW’s claustrophobic recording experience and physically shaping the sound, with each band member recording in separate rooms (and guitars in an airing cupboard).

Self-produced, with drums recorded by Lewis JohnsRoyal Swan marks PHOXJAW’s step into the limelight following two highly respected EPs (2018's Goodbye Dinosaur... and 2019's A Playground For Sad Adults). A rare group who combine humour, quirk, intrigue, a huge range of influences, and power, PHOXJAW are a band who’ll never stop having things to say.

Having toured with Black PeaksPaganZakk Sabbath’s cruise, Loathe and plenty more already, PHOXJAW have begun making waves in the UK underground rock scene. Solid support from Kerrang!, Metal Hammer, Dan P Carter’s BBC R1 Rock Show, Jack Saunder's BBC R1 Indie Show, Total Guitar Magazine and more has earmarked this band as ones to watch, and rightly so.

HUMANITY'S LAST BREATH release bludgeoning video for upcoming single
HLB.jpg

Swedish extreme metal quartet HUMANITY'S LAST BREATH have unveiled a bludgeoning video for new single 'Earthless' ahead of its official release on 12th June. This is the first new music released by the band since their stunning Abyssal album.

Launched alongside a Metal Hammer feature where HMB name the best bands in the Swedish Underground, check it out 'Earthless' here

'Earthless' can be pre-saved here: https://orcd.co/earthless

Not for the faint hearted, Tuomas and Patrik of Riivata Visuals have created a video that visually matches the extremity of the sound. They commented "We love HLB and working with them on a killer track like 'Earthless' was a pleasure. We really tried to push the limits of our capabilities and do something unusual with this video. The music is so extreme that it gave us the freedom to create some disgusting visuals that really compliment the song. It was a long project with everything from costume design, make up and visual FX done by just the two of us, but it was definitely worth it!"

HUMANITY’S LAST BREATH are a deathcore band from Helsingborg, Sweden. Since their inception in 2009, they have made huge waves in the death metal underground with their monolithic, terrifyingly heavy, and relentlessly technical sound.

Led by band mastermind, guitarist and producer Buster Odeholm (Vildjharta, Born of Osiris, Oceano), HLB have proven time and time again to be one of the most fearless, uncompromising, and creative voices in extreme music.

Norwegian punks LÜT stream new single 'Homme Fatale'
LÜT Press picture by Hans Marius Mikkelsen and Ørjan Nyborg Myrland (2)resize2.jpg

Norwegian punks LÜT deliver the soundtrack of the summer with their new single 'Homme Fatale', released today, 10th June via Indie Recordings.

Stream here: https://orcd.co/hommefatale

Expanding on the sound of their previous singles, 'Homme Fatale' builds on a very synthesizer-focused post punk sound, with soft psychedelic rock elements. A perhaps less energetic song than the band's 'Mersmak' single, but 'Homme Fatale's chilled vibe really brings home the vacation experience.

Pre-order the band's forthcoming LP Mersmak (25th September release via Indie Recordings) here: https://orcd.co/mersmaklut

'Homme Fatale' continues the band's no-holds-barred, no-frills approach to modern rock as seen in previous tracks, 'LÜTetro', 'We Will Save Scandirock' and 'Mersmak', the title track from LÜT's forthcoming LP. 'LÜTetro' was featuring on Kerrang!'s "5 Songs You Need To Hear" and enjoyed international radio airplay and recognition, and exciting playlist placements.

Mersmak roughly translates as 'Taste for more / Wanting more', a fitting title for this infectiously raucous group. Elements of TurbonegroBlood CommandKvelertak and more combine to exhilarating and beguiling effect, and cements the band's rising status as ones to watch following their critically acclaimed debut Pandion (2017).

Ever since their foundation, LÜT have been a band that have captivated rock audiences, making a name for themselves in Norway. With their debut album, LÜT were nominated for 'New Band of the Year' in both the Norwegian Grammys Spellemannprisen and the Norwegian Radio award show P3 Gull. They have also found a fan in Lars Ulrich, who praised them on his podcast 'It’s Electric'. The band have also recently played at Summer Breeze Open AirReeperbahnØya and Tons Of Rock, as well as several other Norwegian festivals.

"We went through highs and lows writing this album, and it was definitely a learning process which made the band stronger as a whole. As such; making this album has been a type of contemplation. We’re excited to have finished the ‘difficult second album’ and couldn’t have hoped for a better result. It’s great to finally be able to show the world what we’ve been working on,” says vocalist Markus Danjord.

The band have made some changes to the line-up in the last year, as guitarist Mads Ystmark (Heave Blood and Die) has replaced former members Hans Marius Mikkelsen and Viljar Ratama Dunderovic. Following this change, LÜT spent months in Norway and abroad, finishing their second album.

Mersmak was mixed by Mike Schuppan (ParamoreM83Jimmy Eat World), mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (ConvergeKyle Dixon & Michael Stein Stranger Things Soundtracks), and recorded in Giske and Tromsø, Norway, and Bronson Island in Los Angeles, USA.

GLASS OCEAN release new single and announce long-awaited debut album details
shot lo.jpg

GLASS OCEAN have unveiled new single / video, 'Voyage,' and announced the release of debut album The Remnants of Losing Yourself in Someone Else on 21st August via Wildthing Records.

Co-written with founding GLASS OCEAN member and Northlane drummer, Nic Pettersen, watch the video to 'Voyage' here: https://youtu.be/vCXL1-kJj7k

Listen to the track and pre-order the album here: http://smarturl.it/glassocean

Vocalist Tobias Atkins comments: "For selfish and foolish reasons we can lead ourselves down paths with serious consequences. Under the guise of a virtuous pursuit or belief, we try defy nature herself to bend the rules of reality to our ideology. The repercussion for doing so can result in something catastrophic or traumatic. Something you may never come back from. Something you could of avoided if you had only listened to a voice on the wind that cared deeply about your wellbeing. Sacrifice yourself and your view of the world, if it means you will lead a better life"

The Remnants of Losing Yourself in Someone Else draws you into the waves of vocalist Tobias Atkins' heartfelt storytelling, which is escorted by trance-inducing heavy grooves, clouds of futuristic synth layers, and far-reaching, punchy guitars. Produced, mixed and mastered by Chris Blancato (Northlane), GLASS OCEAN's new record also showcases the continued collaboration with ex-founding member Nic Pettersen (Northlane) who co-wrote album tracks 'Voyage', 'A Dream From Which I May Not Wake', 'Soul Slumber', 'Divide', 'Pride', and 'Almaida'. Swaying smoothly between genres and influences, the record ushers the listener through the compelling emotions and energy of Tobias Atkins’ personal narrative and magnetising vocal performances.

The Remnants of Losing Yourself in Someone Else started out as a concept narrative record which evolved through the creative process into an honest exploration of personal themes. Vocalist Tobias Atkins elaborates: “The band set out with a vision to write a specific story. However, it became difficult to force a narrative that wasn't the truth. Instead, something entirely different emerged. The real beating heart of the album, the idea that the songs were the remnants of losing yourself in someone else”.

The album delves deeply into the highs of love and romance, and spirals further into an underworld of loss, tragedy, and malevolence. Tobias explains: “We build structures, only to tear them down. What was once there is gone, and replacing it is the remnants of who you are and who you wanted to be; a never-ending dialogue of forces subordinate to an ever-changing ideal. For better or worse, they exist here by the will of your own creation, through which we journey to find a covenant within ourselves and the world around us”.

'Voyage' follows the first single released from the album, 'Beyond Us', watch the video here: https://youtu.be/rGzLpcYVo7E
