Irish alt-metal quintet JET FUEL CHEMISTRY stream new video; announce new EP
Poster_OptionC.jpg

Dublin’s finest new rock/metal quintet JET FUEL CHEMISTRY have streamed their video for new single 'War', taken from their forthcoming EP Sign of the Times, released on 7th August.

Watch the video, premiered on Distorted Sound, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xudOcd9iyAY

And pre-save the single here: https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/jetfuelchemistry/sign-of-the-times

Elements of I PrevailNothing More, While She Sleeps and modern Bring Me The Horizon come together to create an EP far more than the sum of its parts. Opener ‘War’ is an absolute lungburster of a track and at no point throughout the five-track salvo do JET FUEL CHEMISTRY let up.

An impressive collection of songs from such a young band, JET FUEL CHEMISTRY first came together three years ago. The entirety of the band’s EP was recorded, mixed, and mastered in guitarist / producer Danny’s bedroom, for a grand total of £0.

A scintillating mix of anthemic alternative rock and modern metalcore mark this new group as ones to truly take attention of.

The sounds of Dublin are fully embedded in Sign of the Times. As bassist Lorcan states:
"Dublin is a city notorious for phenomenal indie music and there's a lot of positives to that, but what's overlooked by that movement is the misery endured by Dublin's young people for the last decade as more and more of their lives and identities shift to social media. We love the music coming out of our city but most of it does not capture the spirit of dread and aimlessness that's become the norm here. We want our songs to not only acknowledge these issues, but to give a two fingered salute to the enablers of our collective unhappiness and offer a source of strength to anybody feeling as lost as we do."

Such a thoughtful, considered approach is typical of JET FUEL CHEMISTRY and a true acknowledgement of their calibre, carried throughout the five songs. The EP’s eponymous track satirises our modern culture of self-worship, with the cry ‘it’s just a sign of the times’ signalling the forfeit of redemption in favour of nihilism. The track opens with a Greta Thunberg quote that perfectly encapsulates how self-involved we have become: a young woman speaking at the UN, begging them to take responsibility, and yet she becomes the target of abuse.

Who cares about public approval when you have integrity?

The spotlight on JET FUEL CHEMISTRY has grown steadily brighter following a whirlwind of live shows across Ireland, more than holding their own as support to a string of powerhouse US rock bands from Halestorm to Hundredth.

PHOXJAW release video for new single 'Teething'
Phoxjaw 2020 Teething Resize.jpg

Bristolian quartet PHOXJAW have released a video for 'Teething', the fourth single from their forthcoming debut album, Royal Swan, which is due for release on 3rd July 2020 via Hassle Records.

"Teething reflects the struggles we all face as human beings," explains vocalist/bassist Danny Garland"The nagging milk teeth erupting through sore gums, the challenges we all must face, and in this case the death of a friend. Some are taken sooner than others, but to celebrate life and the moments we experience with other beings makes the pain all worth it."

Watch the video for 'Teething' here: https://youtu.be/EyHS1h_MU20

Pre-order Royal Swan here: https://smarturl.it/Royal_Swan

'Teething' follows 'You Don't Drink A Unicorn's Blood', which saw recent support from Daniel P. Carter on the Radio 1 Rock Show and features on Kerrang! Radio's K! Nights playlist. Previous single 'Triple AAA' has also been championed by BBC Radio 1's Indie Show with Jack Saunders, Radio 1 Rock Show, Kerrang! Radio, Amazing Radio and more.

PHOXJAW recently announced their Royal Swan album release show, in partnership with Signature Brew. Due to the current lockdown the date for the event is to be confirmed, but tickets are on sale now and include a free beer. Those who purchase tickets and cannot make the date will be given a full refund.

Tickets are on sale here: http://signaturebrew.co.uk/phoxjaw

Born from a cabin-fevered recording experience at Devil’s Bridge in Wales, Royal Swan harks back to a fantastical medieval England. Without being overtly political, Royal Swan also details the tension inherent in modern day Great Britain – the sense of isolation and resentment the United Kingdom has fostered versus trying to retain a sense of pride in one’s own country. Listen out especially for the title-track and opening track for this.

To this end, and in classic PHOXJAW style, Royal Swan enlists a range of local musicians and sound-experiences, adding to the band’s core unique sound. Devil’s Bridge Cottage leaves its mark on the record, fostering PHOXJAW’s claustrophobic recording experience and physically shaping the sound, with each band member recording in separate rooms (and guitars in an airing cupboard).

Self-produced, with drums recorded by Lewis JohnsRoyal Swan marks PHOXJAW’s step into the limelight following two highly respected EPs (2018's Goodbye Dinosaur... and 2019's A Playground For Sad Adults). A rare group who combine humour, quirk, intrigue, a huge range of influences, and power, PHOXJAW are a band who’ll never stop having things to say.

Having toured with Black PeaksPaganZakk Sabbath’s cruise, Loathe and plenty more already, PHOXJAW have begun making waves in the UK underground rock scene. Solid support from Kerrang!, Metal Hammer, Dan P Carter’s BBC R1 Rock Show, Jack Saunder's BBC R1 Indie Show, Total Guitar Magazine and more has earmarked this band as ones to watch, and rightly so.

PHOXJAW are:

Josh Gallop - guitar/keys
Kieran Gallop - drums
Alexander Share - guitar/vocals

THE WINTER PASSING release brand new single 'Melt'
e84c9b0d-9827-4733-9043-2ef1bb3e5e9d.JPG

Dublin indie/emo quintet THE WINTER PASSING have released their brand new single 'Melt', featuring Stu Daly from Irish punk rock band Chewing on Tinfoil. The track is the second taste of their forthcoming album New Ways Of Living, which is due for release on 3rd July 2020 via Big Scary Monsters

Check out 'Melt' here: https://youtu.be/YLbmEZvH_ao

Pre-order New Ways Of Living here: https://bit.ly/2BrSUAL

Emerging from Dublin’s thriving DIY punk and hardcore scene, THE WINTER PASSING are among the city’s most forward thinking indie/emo outfits. Formed by siblings Rob and Kate Flynn and guitarist Jamie Collison in their hometown of Tipperary, the band have become known for their fiery DIY work ethic, pressing their own records and tapes and booking their own shows across the world. Armed with a deluge of influences, from Sonic YouthNo Doubt and American Football to a collective fascination with film photography, Irish colloquialism and rural seaside towns, the band have consistently created an infectiously raw mix of punk energy and indie rock quirks. Fans have come to love them for their ability to expertly layer their many inspirations with a heady mix of vulnerability, that make their sound difficult to categorize yet easy to love.

Their 2017 EP Double Exposure garnered strong critical acclaim from Upset Magazine, The Irish Times, Clash Magazine and more, with Clash saying it is “one that boasts rhythmic flexibility while lyrically the group have rarely hit harder”.

In 2019 THE WINTER PASSING released two new songs, ‘Original Sin’ and ‘Patience Please’, which knocked the band’s songwriting and musicianship to the next level. With each member bringing their unique set of skills and influences to the table, the band locked themselves away at The Ranch Production House to record their second album, New Ways Of Living, with producer Neil Kennedy. The band approached their new material with a heavy focus on strong melodies and the Flynn’s poetical outpourings centered around their experiences with loneliness, bullying, self-awareness, and Irish working-class anxieties.

THE WINTER PASSING’s energetic live show has taken them far and wide: playing shows in the UK and Europe with the likes of Modern BaseballThe Wonder YearsTouche Amore, The Dirty NilFour Year Strong and more. In 2019 the band sold out their Dublin headline show at Whelan’s and have played packed out festival slots at FEST2000trees FestivalManchester Punk Festival and Booze Cruise Bristol.

THE WINTER PASSING are back and ready to bash down the doors of the alternative world. Armed with a slew of anthems and ballads alike, they’re a band whose creative outgoings and DIY ethos make them one of the most exciting bands coming out of Dublin right now, acting as a beacon of hope and catharsis in a forever murky sea of noise.

French post-hardcore quintet FALL OF MESSIAH stream new single 'Young Pines'
FALL OF MESSIAH - promo shoot 2016 - 2.jpg

French post-hardcore quintet FALL OF MESSIAH have streamed 'Young Pines', the new single from their much-awaited fourth LP, Senicarne, released 31st July via Holy Roar Records.

Watch the video for 'Young Pines', premiered on Revolver, here: https://youtu.be/HBD9Zt7m--s

In the words of vocalist-drummer Pierre: "'Young Pines' represents the state of mind in which we wrote the album: Using negative situations that affect us to try and get something positive out of it. It's how we work — trying to convey an emotion that is just, raw but without artifice."

Pre-order on LP/CD/Digital here:
UK https://bit.ly/FOMUK
EU https://bit.ly/FOMEUROPE
US https://bit.ly/FOMUSA

Senicarne is a story of human ties evolving over time, an image of roots and attachments and symbolic representations of nature. Senicarne written backward (enracinés) translates as "rooted" in French; and "seni" "carne" translates as "old flesh" in Latin.

Such a thoughtful, symbolic approach is typical of FALL OF MESSIAH, a group who pair delicate, pathos-evoking melodies with cascading drums and rhythmic hypnotism, reminiscent of early Pianos Become The Teeth, Heaven In Her Arms and Envy

Track one ('La Republique du Vide' - The Republic of Void) is the band's entry point of observation: in their philosophy, nothing makes sense any more, as everything is futile and arguable by anyone. A sense of detachment and desire for novelty are in constant tension, a striking theme felt throughout the record.

FALL OF MESSIAH's vast melting pot of influences lean into emotive atmospherics whilst never once losing their sharper edges. Large sections of the nine songs on offer bubble and writhe instrumentally - showcasing a deft art of controlled chaos (‘Atlantique’ and ‘The Loneliest Whale in the World’), which only amplify and contrast with the frantically drastic urgency of cuts such as ‘Sequoia’.

FALL OF MESSIAH's vision, distilling the spiritual essence of early emotional post-hardcore into expansive and emotionally ravaging mini-epics, has led to the band performing at ArcTanGent FestivalDunk FestivalIeperfest, and alongside MaybeshewillPelicanLa DisputeRolo Tomassi, and more.

US death metal unit AHTME stream new single 'Putrid Perforation'
Group1.jpg

Technical death metal monsters AHTME have unveiled 'Putrid Perforation', the second single from new album Mephitic, a noxious mix of wizardry and brutality, delivered with obscene ferocity, out 24th July via Unique Leader.

Listen to 'Putrid Perforation' here: https://youtu.be/G_642Q9_TIU

The band comment: “We’re excited for everyone to hear this one. We feel that it has all the ingredients we’ve culminated in our sound over the years and represents the album in a great way. But... we saved our favorites for the full album release, so keep an ear out!”

Surgically precise guitar riffs, a groove-driven ultra-sturdy rhythm section, topped with raw, violent roaring vocals, come together to create AHTME.

Forming in Kansas City Missouri under the name The Roman Holiday, AHTME bring a signature and unique sound to the table. After a long journey solidifying their sound, they renamed as AHTME and their 2018 debut album under that name Sewer Born turned many heads, establishing them firmly in the US death metal scene.

Relying more on groovy and catchy riffs to grab their twisted audience by their necks and slam them to the ground, the quintet always deliver something you can bang your head to, all while maintaining the guarantee to pick even the thickest of tech scabs off the arms of those interested only in speed and precision.

Hold onto your boots.

MISERY SIGNALS release video for new single 'River King'
MiserySignals-PromoPhoto.jpg

Original metalcore pioneers MISERY SIGNALS have revealed the video for their new single 'River King'. The track is the second taste of their brand new album Ultraviolet, due for release on 7th August 2020 via Basick Records. The forthcoming record marks their first full-length release in seven years, and first with founding vocalist Jesse Zaraska since their 2004 debut, Of Malice and the Magnum Heart

Check out the video for 'River King' here: https://youtu.be/sJSJ0vuuyp8

Pre-save the album on Spotify/Apple here: https://orcd.co/miserysignalsultraviolet

The most effective, connective and inspired creative expression often comes from those who've abandoned all aspirations beyond the art for the art's sake. At a time when the vast majority of the so-called “scene” is obsessed with careerist goals, popularity and time-tested formulas, MISERY SIGNALS have reemerged from self-imposed hibernation to once again remake the rules and reassert the inherent power of true passion. Over fifteen years since their initial formation, the Midwestern musical collective remains driven by determination, resilience and the urgent need to share their work with their enduringly diehard supporters.

MISERY SIGNALS' 2014 reunion tour, celebrating the ten year anniversary of their debut album Of Malice and the Magnum Heart, sparked a flame among the original members. Despite facing initial challenges, the band ultimately felt healed by the experience of reuniting, and following their Yesterday Is Everything documentary they set to work on their new album. Marking the return of all founding members, Ryan Morgan (guitar), Branden Morgan (drums), Jesse Zaraska (vocals), Stu Ross (guitar) and Kyle Johnson (bass), the band spent the last few years writing and recording one of their finest releases yet and a true return to form, drawing on a resuscitated storm of creativity and camaraderie not witnessed since Of Malice and the Magnum Heart

"Jesse has this really clear voice, and even in his most vicious screaming the vulnerability gets through first,” says Morgan. “People will hear the record and there won't be any need for decoding the emotional content. 'Sunlifter' was the first song we wrote for the record and it set the tone thematically for the lyrics on the album, which came to be about ambition and striving and all the parts of ourselves that are in contradiction with each other."

Zaraska comments on the lyrical direction of the album, "It is a record that purveys a much greater sense of hope than those that preceded it, and I think that as older individuals this was important from the onset of the process. I tried to create a MISERY SIGNALS record that was lyrically more positive than the previous outings, something that I could get behind as a father. Though there still exists a fair amount of tension and darkness, there shines a great amount more light."

MISERY SIGNALS are the type of group who inspire questions about time signatures and musical gear rather than hairstyles or love lives. Their combination of progressive, technical and atmospheric riffage with melodic prowess, impassioned frenzy and unhinged rock 'n' roll edge helped define part of the New Wave Of American Heavy Metal, a sub-genre that includes the commercially successful likes of All That RemainsKillswitch Engage and Lamb Of God. The transcendent experimentalism of Deftones, the mind-bending pulse of Meshuggah, the power of seminal metalcore masters Shai Hulud, and the adventurously dynamic engagement of “thinking man's metal” band Cave In all exist within the unique blueprint MISERY SIGNALS have pioneered for themselves.

The fact that MISERY SIGNALS have thrived on tours with peers ranging from Between The Buried And Me and The Dillinger Escape Plan to Norma Jean and Emmure speaks volumes as to the band’s singularly broad appeal. Leaders and not followers, innovators and not imitators, MISERY SIGNALS have built a catalogue of stunningly complete sounding albums, including Absent Light (2013), Controller (2008), Mirrors (2006) and Of Malice and the Magnum Heart (2004). MISERY SIGNALS still deliver their boundary pushing music, continuing to fly the flags for authenticity, audience/band communal experience, old-school DIY ethics and impressively unwavering artistic bravery.

ENTERPRISE EARTH unleash surprise EP and video via eOne
shot 1.jpg

Foundation Of Bones is the new EP surprise dropped today from death metal practitioners ENTERPRISE EARTH.

Released via Entertainment One (eOne), the EP serves as a bridge piece from their latest full-length effort, Luciferous, into the work being laid down for their forthcoming LP and also marks the band’s first self-produced output.

The band have also released a video for the title-track, watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9C8CTFdBXA

Foundation Of Bones was a spur of the moment idea that quickly came to fruition,” elaborates ENTERPRISE EARTH guitarist Gabriel Mangold. “After returning home from our cancelled tour, we began writing and finishing up new material. While listening back to some new demos and being stoked on the quality of the mixes, we thought, ‘Fuck it. Let's give self-production a go and release an impromptu EP!’ Dan [Watson] tracked vocals at home in Indianapolis. Brandon [Zackey] recorded drums with our good friend/sound engineer, Chris Ghazel, in Los Angeles. I did guitars, bass, production, and handled mixing/mastering duties in my tiny home trailer studio rig in Taos, New Mexico. After several days of tweaking, we had a mix that we were all very stoked on and felt comfortable moving forward with our first self-produced release. I don't think we intended to accomplish anything specific with this EP other than releasing new music that we were very excited to show the world. However, throughout the process, we realized that we were attaining something vital in addition to releasing new music: the ability to self-produce. The sound we're developing is what we want to sound like, and we've all become that much more connected to our music now that we're at the reigns throughout the entire creative and production processes. We are very excited to continue developing our sound and have decided to self-produce our next LP.”

Foundation Of Bones features one new song from the band (the title-track), two cover tunes - Lamb Of God’s iconic 'Now You’ve Got Something To Die For' and Necrophagist’s 'Fermented Offal Discharge' - an acoustic interpretation of 'There Is No Tomorrow' from their Luciferous LP, and an instrumental version of the new track.

Notes Mangold“The covers were something that we had in mind for some time, and the opportunity to do this EP prompted us to take action. Lamb Of God and Necrophagist are two huge inspirations on us, so covering these tunes was a no-brainer. We experienced a ton of electric energy tracking these as they are songs that we've loved since we were kids; hopefully, we did them justice!

“The acoustic version of ‘There Is No Tomorrow’ was a cathartic experience,” he continues. “It was inspired by bands that have done incredible acoustic renditions of their heavy tunes, namely Alice In Chains, The Contortionist, and I See Stars. Our sonic inspirations and musical expressions go much deeper than just being brutal, and we wanted to express that sentiment and develop another facet of our sound. We love melody, peaks, and valleys within a song, acoustic jams that take you on a journey, and most importantly, we love writing music that resonates strongly within us. ‘There Is No Tomorrow’ is easily the most melodic and emotional song from Luciferous. If any tune from that record deserved an acoustic rendition, it would be that one. That it’s our collective favorite from that record, also made it an easy choice. Expect more of these acoustic renditions in the future.”
