Irish dream-grunge trio BITCH FALCON release new single 'Gaslight' & sign to Small Pond Records
bitch_falcon_press_cg_06.jpg

BITCH FALCON are a name you will not forget, and a band who will not let you forget them. Today, the acclaimed trio stream their stunning new single 'Gaslight', and announce signing to Small Pond Records (Clt DrpWild Cat Strike).

Stream 'Gaslight' here: https://smarturl.it/gas-light

BITCH FALCON showcase their return with the new track in typical fine form. Slightly grungy, slightly dreamy, the rockers have made great waves over the last few years, with acclaim from Dublin Inquirer, Irish Times, The Guardian, Paste Magazine. The trio have played with Girl BandFontaines DCTorcheBlack PeaksPussy Riot and display touches of St Vincent, 2:54My Bloody ValentineThe Pixies and Bjork all in one scintillating package.

BITCH FALCON were formed by frontwoman Lizzie Fitzpatrick in Dublin in 2014, and are mainstays of the festival circuit in both Ireland and abroad (packing out rooms in the US, Canada and Europe). Since these freshman days, the lineup has galvanised around the rhythm section of Barry O'Sullivan on Bass and Nigel Kenny on Drums.

From the early days of their first single, 'Wolfstooth' to their most recent release 'Damp Breath', an evolution in sound can be heard as the group perfect and refine their raw, fuzz-laced offerings over six singles and one EP.

There is nothing conventional about BITCH FALCON and rather than replicate the music they love, they have managed to effortlessly create something that is truly their own from these diverse influences. Their recorded history however, is only a small part of their story. The band quickly developed a buzz in Dublin, selling out their own gigs without having released any recorded music. Their live show must be seen to get a true appreciation for what this band can do. From the high pitched wails and infinite feedback of Lizzie's guitar and soaring vocals from the front to the back, to the interplay between the glass-shattering bass and thunderous drums, there is very little of the stage left untouched and still bolted down once they are finished.

In the words of the band: "Gaslight' is a song that came together quite fast. Barry started playing his riff and I played along messing rhythmically, just making noise. It sounded so weird and intense so quickly. I remember us all looking at each other and saying this is the one. I think this song was a change in our writing together. We knew we wanted a heavy sound with melodic intricacies.

I recorded the vocal layering at home, building up chords with my voice. When we recorded it in studio I wasn’t able to sustain my voice for the whole section, and so me and Rían (Trench) decided to record it in a wave, one note resting while the other picks up, so it sounds like a living, breathing thing.

I wanted to describe the feeling of what you see is not necessarily what you get. The holy grail of public display, and worth to others. Expressing yourself puts you in a vulnerable position, and I think a lot of people embellish the truth. In that way, an unachievable status is shoved down our throats, and we play into the game every day."

ENTERPRISE EARTH release quarantine-filmed video for 'Foundation Of Bones (Instrumental)'
FOB instr shot.png

ENTERPRISE EARTH have unveiled a quarantine-filmed video for the instrumental version of 'Foundation Of Bones', the title-track from new the EP released 19th June via Entertainment One (eOne).

Watch 'Foundation Of Bones (Instrumental)' here: https://youtu.be/WFUiV1ye4Js

Foundation Of Bones features one new song from the band (the title-track), two cover tunes - Lamb Of God's iconic 'Now You've Got Something To Die For' and Necrophagist's 'Fermented Offal Discharge' - an acoustic interpretation of 'There Is No Tomorrow' from their Luciferous LP, and an instrumental version of the new track.

The surprise EP serves as a bridge piece from their latest full-length effort, Luciferous, into the work being laid down for their forthcoming LP and also marks the band's first self-produced output.

Comments ENTERPRISE EARTH guitarist Gabriel Mangold"After deciding to do this impromptu EP we began sifting through current demos for our winner. The decision was made unanimously fairly quickly. After a short, mysterious, and unsettling intro it gets straight to the point by exploding into the first chorus and doesn't let up until it's over. This song also features new sounds that we have been developing in a condensed format, namely combining modern deathcore parts and structure with thrash and death metal influences. This sound will be expanded upon in our coming full-length."

Extreme metallers BLASPHEMER release new video 'The Sixth Hour'
blasphemer_hi_res_1.jpg

Italian extreme metal stalwarts BLASPHEMER have released a new video for their single ‘The Sixth Hour’. The video is the title track of the band's most recent album which was released worldwide by Candlelight Records on 24th January this year.

Premiered via Decibel Magazine , you can now watch the video in full here: https://youtu.be/9vdBgJJSppM

The band commented: "BLASPHEMER is proud to introduce you to the new videoclip of their latest album’s title track 'The Sixth Hour'. This visual assault which has been meticulously crafted by talented artist Chariot of Black Moth (Converge, Wolves in the Throne Room…) to blast the viewer with a relentless black-and-white abyss of sinisterness. The images displayed dive deeply into the most obscure religious manifestations of Southern Italy around the Holy Week and Easter, including macabre processions often climaxing in gore-drenched, self-harming traditions - aiming to emulate and celebrate the suffering of Christ in his path to the crucifixion. Unsettling portraits of Jesus upon Golgotha mix here with these nowadays representation of the passion, since the death of Christ and the grotesqueness of his vulnerability, counterposed to the falsity of his divine nature, encompass the centuries.”

Album The Sixth Hour was released earlier this year in January and showcases twelve songs of pure blackened-death metal, mastered at the famous studio Hertz in Poland, known for their work with BehemothDecapitated and Vader. Fundamentally a concept album, The Sixth Hour's main theme is the way of the cross, i.e. the last day of Jesus Christ, the path that led him from the Gethsemane to Golgotha. The aim of the album is to depict Jesus as merely human, trying to transpose into music the agony he felt in the last day.

Out now on Candlelight Records, you can order the album here: https://blasphemer.lnk.to/TheSixthHour

GLASS OCEAN stream lockdown video 'Bolero'
web-1EP_0355-Edit.jpg

One of Australia's most prominent up and coming acts, GLASS OCEAN have fast become key players on the global progressive scene. Today, the band release the video for third single 'Bolero' from their highly anticipated debut album, The Remnants of Losing Yourself in Someone Else, which will be released on 21st August via Wild Thing Records.

Filmed in lockdown, watch the video to 'Bolero' here youtu.be/wbIgmDiw9Xk

Dialled back and more sublime than the album's first two singles, 'Bolero' showcases GLASS OCEAN's ability to intertwine soulful groov and restrained passion, with an almost 80s power-pop feel.

Vocalist Tobias Atkins says of the video: "During the shooting of the video for ‘Bolero’, the country was right in the midst of its strictest lockdown measures. This made production requirements difficult to obtain. The silver lining was a chance to get creative with minimal tools, crew and sets. So my mum and I used what we could under the corona restrictions to come up with something we were really happy with. Along with the amazing editing skills of our chief of visual Adrian Goleby we ended up with something simple and vibrant."

Of the track Atkins says: "'Bolero' represents the sentiment and understanding from being rejected. That attractive soul across the room may not want to dance with you. It may be because of their preference, or it might have something to do with how you represent yourself. How is it that you express desire and engagement in the outside world? Is it the real you or something else? Expressing the truth, with no filter or mask will attract something greater than impulsive desire. Maybe then the real dance can begin."

The Remnants of Losing Yourself in Someone Else draws you into the waves of vocalist Tobias Atkins' heartfelt storytelling, which is escorted by trance-inducing heavy grooves, clouds of futuristic synth layers, and far-reaching, punchy guitars. Produced, mixed and mastered by Chris Blancato (Northlane)GLASS OCEAN's new record also showcases the continued collaboration with ex-founding member Nic Pettersen (Northlane) who co-wrote album tracks 'Voyage', 'A Dream From Which I May Not Wake', 'Soul Slumber', 'Divide', 'Pride', and 'Almaida'. Swaying smoothly between genres and influences, the record ushers the listener through the compelling emotions and energy of Tobias Atkins’ personal narrative and magnetising vocal performances.

The Remnants of Losing Yourself in Someone Else started out as a concept narrative record which evolved through the creative process into an honest exploration of personal themes. Vocalist Tobias Atkins elaborates: “The band set out with a vision to write a specific story. However, it became difficult to force a narrative that wasn't the truth. Instead, something entirely different emerged. The real beating heart of the album, the idea that the songs were the remnants of losing yourself in someone else”.

The album delves deeply into the highs of love and romance, and spirals further into an underworld of loss, tragedy, and malevolence. Atkins explains: “We build structures, only to tear them down. What was once there is gone, and replacing it is the remnants of who you are and who you wanted to be; a never-ending dialogue of forces subordinate to an ever-changing ideal. For better or worse, they exist here by the will of your own creation, through which we journey to find a covenant within ourselves and the world around us”.

Hold Tight! PR relaunches as music marketing agency HOLD TIGHT
holdtightLogo_2048x2048.jpg

Rock and metal specialist music PR and radio plugging agency Hold Tight! PR has relaunched as HOLD TIGHT, a multi-faceted music marketing agency offering print & online PR, radio plugging, strategic planning and digital marketing services.

Since its inception in 2010 as the PR arm of Basick RecordsHold Tight! PR has grown into a leading force in rock and metal music publicity, working with many top labels and bands worldwide. With development of its radio plugging service (launched 2017), and rapid growth of its digital marketing services (soft launched 2019), the rebrand is part of a strategic overhaul of the business and representative of where the company is today. The newly rebranded agency will still have PR as its core, but with a renewed focus on creative, digital and social media that will enhance traditional models.

In 2020 digital marketing has never been more important and works in tandem with PR campaigns to promote an event / record release, grow profile and expand audience. Reaching audiences directly via platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and DSPs has become vital for grassroots artists and projects to reach new audiences, but also established ones too.

Digital marketing manager Darren Gosling joined HOLD TIGHT in 2019 to develop this offering and has since worked with many bands across a range of genres, from American prog metallers Between the Buried and Me to British indie legends Cornershop, worked with a number of labels including New Heavy Sounds and Arising Empire, and launched tech start-up BandBond. In just under a year the success of HOLD TIGHT’s digital marketing service has seen it quickly become a permanent offering.

HOLD TIGHT’s PR and radio plugging business continues to go from strength to strength, working with key labels including Spinefarm/Universal, Fearless, UNFD, SPV/Long Branch, Holy Roar, Rude, Big Scary Monsters, Unique Leader, and bands such as Billy Talent, Zakk Wylde, August Burns Red, Elder, Misery Signals, Crowbar, Ihsahn, Darkthrone, CKY, plus many more. Based in the UK, HOLD TIGHT works with print and online media services across UK, GAS, Benelux and further afield in Europe, the USA, and radio in the UK.

HOLD TIGHT has also recently relocated its own office in Greenwich, London. Address below.

Director Lisa Coverdale commented: "The music industry was already evolving before the Covid-19 crisis, however the pandemic propelled many areas of the industry to adapt more rapidly and we’ve tried to predict those changes and stay one step ahead as they happen. Our digital marketing offerings have enabled our bands to instantly monetise revenue streams across their digital and social platforms, helping to pick up the shortfall created by an inability to tour and play live where a huge portion of their yearly revenue is made. For us as a business it was a case of choosing between turning the page and moving towards a new chapter or just closing the book on it all. We chose to turn the page and the results so far have been incredibly positive. We have evolved into an all-encompassing music marketing agency with digital and PR strengths, putting us amongst the forefront of such agencies in this fast-growing part of the industry."

Director James Monteith commented: "The music industry is constantly facing new challenges and evolving, so at HOLD TIGHT we have always made a concerted effort to adapt with the changing landscape and stay ahead of the curve. We are all highly passionate about music and strive to give our clients the most effective and meaningful service, and with the new digital marketing offering, we can further enable them to reach new audiences and clearly get their messages across. I feel truly privileged to work with the team at HOLD TIGHT, they are some of the most hardworking, determined, and creative thinking people in the business. Team HOLD TIGHT is ready for communication in the 2020s.”

Born from a cabin-fevered recording experience at Devil’s Bridge in Wales, Royal Swan harks back to a fantastical medieval England. Without being overtly political, Royal Swan also details the tension inherent in modern day Great Britain – the sense of isolation and resentment the United Kingdom has fostered versus trying to retain a sense of pride in one’s own country. Listen out especially for the title-track and opening track for this.

To this end, and in classic PHOXJAW style, Royal Swan enlists a range of local musicians and sound-experiences, adding to the band’s core unique sound. Devil’s Bridge Cottage leaves its mark on the record, fostering PHOXJAW’s claustrophobic recording experience and physically shaping the sound, with each band member recording in separate rooms (and guitars in an airing cupboard).

Self-produced, with drums recorded by Lewis JohnsRoyal Swan marks PHOXJAW’s step into the limelight following two highly respected EPs (2018's Goodbye Dinosaur... and 2019's A Playground For Sad Adults). A rare group who combine humour, quirk, intrigue, a huge range of influences, and power, PHOXJAW are a band who’ll never stop having things to say.

Having toured with Black PeaksPaganZakk Sabbath’s cruise, Loathe and plenty more already, PHOXJAW have begun making waves in the UK underground rock scene. Solid support from Kerrang!, Metal Hammer, Rock Sound, Dan P. Carter’s BBC R1 Rock Show, Jack Saunder's BBC R1 Indie Show, Total Guitar Magazine and more has earmarked this band as ones to watch, and rightly so.

Canadian rock quintet RARITY release video for new single 'Leave It Alone'
Rarity 2020.jpg

Canadian rock quintet RARITY make their return with their new single 'Leave It Alone'. The track, which is out now via New Damage Records, is their first new material since their 2019 full-length The Longest Lonesome.

Check out the video for 'Leave It Alone' here: https://youtu.be/nmED3ENMpsg

The band comment:

"What I take away the most from 'Leave It Alone' is what a testament it is to the band - long time friends - coming together, having fun and writing (in my opinion) one our most exciting tracks. We thought the song had immediate live energy, written specifically for our return to Europe this spring. The lyrics came together in one night, putting together a story from ideas jotted down in my phone. Touring has of course been put on hold due to the pandemic, but me and the rarity camp are eager for that green light - the go-ahead - ready for that first night we get to rip 'Leave It Alone' live for everyone."

Stream 'Leave It Alone' here: https://orcd.co/leaveitalone

RARITY wasted no time when they formed in 2014, releasing their debut EP Alive In Your Eyes through Rise Records and hitting the road shortly after. The band then returned to the studio with Derek Henderson (Knuckle PuckReal Friends) and State ChampsDerek DiScanio to work on their debut album, I Couldn’t Be Weaker

After a tough couple of years, armed with lessons learned, a newly-cemented line-up and an explosive second album, The Longest Lonesome, the heralded post-hardcore quintet had a fresh lease of life. Touring with the likes of SilversteinState ChampsEmarosaVanna, and more, RARITY quickly built their devoted fanbase and are ready to take on the world.
