An idea conceived in a time of lockdown, THE ISOLATION SESSIONS is a collaboration between artists, who formed a virtual band and engaged in the process of writing and recording remotely from their respective homes, to create one standalone track.

Chapter and Verse's Josh Carter comments: "What’s been crazy about this is that everyone’s been so graceful with it. Every single person involved is such a brilliant artist in their own right that it could’ve easily ended up in disagreements, but it’s been unbelievably chilled and organic. It’s felt so natural without ever having to see the people that you’re collaborating with. Shows you the power of cooperation and kindness, I think.
 
"The rock world is in dire need of more collaboration. This has been an amazing experiment in taking individual artists’ personal flair out of it's usual context and into a new space. A lot of artists are frightened of coming out of their comfort zone and whilst I totally understand that (it takes a long time to find your identity, so risking losing it is a big thing), I’d like to think that this project is proof that you don’t have to be glued to your own band/project to use your artistic identity to create something awesome."

Courage My Love's Mercedes Arn-Horn adds: "This lockdown could have been a really depressing time, but it’s really cool to see everybody stepping up and creating art. So I think this is a really good lesson, y’know, you can’t stop art. Art always continues no matter what’s going on in the world. I love it, inspiring, it really is."

Sun Arcana's Jules Wildblood concludes: "2020 has brought so much uncertainty into all our careers...being able to use this time creatively has been a real honour! Especially with this challenge of writing and producing a collaboration project between so many amazing minds entirely remotely! I’m so happy with how this all worked out and feel privileged to have done it with close friends!"

The project will also be releasing a collection of video diary entries that have been captured and collated into a short documentary, to give an insight into how the track was conceived, how it evolved and how a handful of artists, from all over the world came together to create something new.

Newcastle metalcore quartet CREAK have revealed their latest single 'Bitter Picture', the title-track from their recently released debut EP. 'Bitter Picture' follows the band's previous single 'Eyes Without A Face', which has seen support from Alex Baker's Kerrang! Fresh Blood show and more.

“The song ‘Bitter Picture’ is about watching someone close to you set down a destructive spiral and seeing them become a shadow of themselves. Somewhere between acceptance and grief, it sums up the themes and tone throughout the EP’s concept on how turmoil can affect a family, and how much of a long term effect it can have.

"It’s probably the most honest song we have written as a band, but it’s also the most difficult to talk about because of that. There’s a lot of emotions and situations behind the inspiration of this song that I don’t think we have fully come to terms with ourselves, but I think sonically we managed to capture a part of it.”

Since forming in early 2019, CREAK have cemented themselves as ones to watch in the Newcastle metal scene and beyond. The band's debut single '(W)RETCH' has surpassed 15,000 streams and has been championed by numerous Spotify playlists, including 'Metal United' which boasts over 12,000 subscribers. This was followed by second single 'Recluse', which has exceeded their debut release with over 16,000 streams, as well as landing them the cover of Crowded Music's 'This Is Hardcore' playlist.

"Dublin is a city notorious for phenomenal indie music and there's a lot of positives to that, but what's overlooked by that movement is the misery endured by Dublin's young people for the last decade as more and more of their lives and identities shift to social media. We love the music coming out of our city but most of it does not capture the spirit of dread and aimlessness that's become the norm here. We want our songs to not only acknowledge these issues, but to give a two fingered salute to the enablers of our collective unhappiness and offer a source of strength to anybody feeling as lost as we do."

Such a thoughtful, considered approach is typical of JET FUEL CHEMISTRY and a true acknowledgement of their calibre, carried throughout the five songs. The EP’s eponymous track satirises our modern culture of self-worship, with the cry ‘it’s just a sign of the times’ signalling the forfeit of redemption in favour of nihilism. The track opens with a Greta Thunberg quote that perfectly encapsulates how self-involved we have become: a young woman speaking at the UN, begging them to take responsibility, and yet she becomes the target of abuse.

KOJ comment on 'Human Love': "Imagine you were a person on a spaceship, all by yourself for years, floating in deep space. You would feel the longing for human love, for someone to say your name out loud. How does it feel to be so lonely, to feel so detached from everything that makes us human? How does it feel to know that you will never feel that connection again? Human Love is a reflection on modern society on life happening on screens and on losing connection to reality. Human Love was the final track that we recorded for our new album HOME on the last days in the studio. Writing this song was a tour de force. With all the expectations that built up for HOME, we wanted to finish the album as intentionally as we opened it with Stars. Human Love wraps up the message of the album beautifully by emphasising that, to move forward, we need real human connection." 

German indie-prog band KOJ share a strong common musical vision in addition to their roots as a family. As a closely interwoven trio they create dark, emotional soundscapes that captivate the listener. As children of the 90s they love the rock music of that time, which is reflected in the raw emotionality of their songs. The band wrap their musical essence in minimalistic and fine sound garments, which is reminiscent of triphop in some places, letting feelings lead the listener.

The band shows itself sometimes unbending, sometimes fragile, sometimes self-confident, they don't gloss over their songs which are raw and to the point. In countless songwriting and recording sessions they have worked on their sound world and created their musical home together with engineer and producer Beray Habip. An intimate and personal image of the life of three people intertwined has been created in the process. KOJ want to understand where they come from, where they are going and how they can exist in this world.

Columbian blackened death metal band ESHTADUR have released 'All She Wrote', the second single taken from their new album, From The Abyss, set for release on 4th September via Blood Blast.

Featuring guest vocals from Zaher Zorgati from Myrath, 'All She Wrote' is the most melodic track on the album, and draws on the band's power metal influences.
