Crushing down-tempo, slam-infused deathcore masters DISTANT have released single 'Oedipism', ahead of their new EP Dawn of Corruption which is set for release via Unique Leader on October 23rd.

Premiered yesterday via Slam Worldwide, you can now check out 'Oedipism' here: https://youtu.be/AxUCcFDt2IY

The band commented: “'Oedipism' is a song about the ascension of the Tyrannt’s son - Gabraath, amongst the wretched gaining his unholy status. This aggressive and ruthless song is part of the story of Tyrannotophia - Dawn Of Corruption, and is the band's angriest tune to date."

Hailing from Rotterdam, The Netherlands and Bratislava, Slovakia, DISTANT have produced some of their most brutal work with the announcement of their second release for Unique Leader, featuring guest appearances from members of INGESTED and ABORTED

Dawn of Corruption, the follow up to last summer's Tyrannotophia, is a dark descent into the depths of the kingdom of Tyrannotophia - the realm of the doomed and the sound of the world's damnation. The kingdom is on the brink of falling and a new era is about to begin. Escaping from the darkness, all of the wretched creatures are on a hunt for its crown.

Featuring stunning cover artwork by Calean Stokkermans (The Acacia Strain, Lorna Shore, Misery Index), DISTANT perform the dark hymns of the fallen kingdom for listeners to experience the atmospheric despair and the grotesque void to come. Emotional, evil and ruthless songs of the fallen.

Joined by two new members Jan Mato on drums (ex-Shrill Whispers) and Eise Smit (ex-Rising ConflictDISTANT is now a fully armed six-piece band for this battle and ready to take the crown for themselves. Honourable guests on this release are Jason “Slam King” Evans of INGESTED and Mendel bij de Leij formerly known as guitarist of ABORTED

Since 2014 the band have bludgeoned their way across Europe, with the release of their first two EPs Slither (2015) and Tsukuyomi (2017). Recently joining forces with Unique Leader to release their debut full-length album Tyrannotophia (June 2019) and making a name for themselves by playing renowned festivals and tours across Europe and UK.

Irish dream-grunge trio BITCH FALCON release new single 'Martyr'
bitch_falcon_press_cg_06.jpg

BITCH FALCON are a name you will not forget, and a band who will not let you forget them. The much-acclaimed dream-grunge trio have streamed their new single 'Martyr', taken from their forthcoming debut LP, Staring At Clocks, to be released 6th November via Small Pond Records.

Pre-order Staring At Clocks here: https://link.smallpondrec.co.uk/staring-at-clocks

'Martyr' follows the release of BITCH FALCON's previous singles 'Gaslight' and 'Test Trip':

Stream 'Test Trip': https://www.get.smallpondrec.co.uk/test-trip

Slightly grungy, slightly dreamy, the rockers have made great waves over the last few years, with acclaim from Dublin Inquirer, Irish Times, The Guardian, Paste Magazine, Knotfest.com, and many more. The trio have played with Girl BandFontaines DCTorcheBlack PeaksPussy Riot and display touches of St Vincent, 2:54My Bloody ValentineThe Pixies and Bjork all in one scintillating package.

BITCH FALCON were formed by frontwoman Lizzie Fitzpatrick in Dublin in 2014, and are mainstays of the festival circuit in both Ireland and abroad (packing out rooms in the US, Canada and Europe). Since these freshman days, the lineup has galvanised around the rhythm section of Barry O'Sullivan on Bass and Nigel Kenny on Drums.

From the early days of their first single, 'Wolfstooth' to their most recent release 'Test Trip', an evolution in sound can be heard as the group perfect and refine their raw, fuzz-laced offerings over six singles and one EP.

There are few things conventional about BITCH FALCON, a band for whom otherworldly is a very fitting adjective - at least on record. The trio's live show must be seen to get a true appreciation for what this band can do, from the high-pitched wails and infinite feedback of Lizzie's guitar and soaring vocals, to the interplay between shattering bass and thunderous drums - there is very little left of any stage untouched. It's a rare group who manage to be so ethereal and devastatingly heavy simultaneously - but then again, BITCH FALCON are an unforgettable name.

Artwork was created by Lizzie Fitzpatrick; mixed by Grammy-nominated engineer Alex Newport (At The Drive InThe Mars VoltaDeath Cab for CutieThe MelvinsFrank Turner) and mastered by Magnus Lindberg.

Norwegian punks LÜT release new single 'VIEPÅ'

Norwegian punks LÜT hold onto the feeling of summer with their new single 'VIEPÅ', out today (24th September 2020) via Indie Recordings. The track is the fifth single from the band's forthcoming album Mersmak, which is due for release on 8th January 2021.

Stream 'VIEPÅ' here: https://orcd.co/viepa

'VIEPÅ' is a song about nostalgia, a tribute to the drive you only find in young people loving what they do - and this directly reflects the passion put into this song by LÜT. Catchy punk rock guitars, a strong chorus and the typically energetic LÜT sound shows that there are no boundaries for young people. 'VIEPÅ' sounds like freedom - an aural experience of driving to the beach, enjoying the sea breeze and feeling the last warm rays of late summer sun.

The band comments:

“After playing three concerts in less than 24 hours in Bergen, Oslo and Gothenburg, we had to ask ourselves; how the hell are we coping with this? This question became the self-examination and the song 'VIEPÅ'. A tribute to the 'drive' you only find in young people loving what they do. 'VIEPÅ' is a true rock anthem and takes us back to a summer without restrictions and inhibitions among the best of friends. A personal favourite on our upcoming album. God, we miss those times...”

'VIEPÅ' continues the band's no-holds-barred, no-frills approach to modern rock as seen in previous tracks, 'Homme Fatale', 'LÜTetro', 'We Will Save Scandirock' and 'Mersmak', the title-track from LÜT's forthcoming LP. 'LÜTetro' was featuring on Kerrang!'s "5 Songs You Need To Hear" and enjoyed international radio airplay and recognition, and exciting playlist placements.

Mersmak roughly translates as 'Taste for more / Wanting more', a fitting title for this infectiously raucous group. Elements of TurbonegroBlood CommandKvelertak and more combine to exhilarating and beguiling effect, and cements the band's rising status as ones to watch following their critically acclaimed debut Pandion (2017).

Ever since their foundation, LÜT have been a band that have captivated rock audiences, making a name for themselves in Norway. With their debut album, LÜT were nominated for 'New Band of the Year' in both the Norwegian Grammys Spellemannprisen and the Norwegian Radio award show P3 Gull. They have also found a fan in Lars Ulrich, who praised them on his podcast 'It’s Electric'. The band have also recently played at Summer Breeze Open AirReeperbahnØya and Tons Of Rock, as well as several other Norwegian festivals.

"We went through highs and lows writing this album, and it was definitely a learning process which made the band stronger as a whole. As such; making this album has been a type of contemplation. We’re excited to have finished the ‘difficult second album’ and couldn’t have hoped for a better result. It’s great to finally be able to show the world what we’ve been working on,” says vocalist Markus Danjord.

The band have made some changes to the line-up in the last year, as guitarist Mads Ystmark (Heave Blood and Die) has replaced former members Hans Marius Mikkelsen and Viljar Ratama Dunderovic. Following this change, LÜT spent months in Norway and abroad, finishing their second album.

Mersmak was mixed by Mike Schuppan (ParamoreM83Jimmy Eat World), mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (ConvergeKyle Dixon & Michael Stein Stranger Things Soundtracks), and recorded in Giske and Tromsø, Norway, and Bronson Island in Los Angeles, USA.

Acclaimed Norwegian dark rockers DJERV have released a video for their new single '(We Don't) Hang No More'. The track follows the duo's comeback single 'Throne', which marked their first new music in almost a decade.

“It`s been really fun doing these tracks, just trying out something a bit different, something a bit more up-tempo and simpler. Not over-thinking it too much,” states drummer Erlend Gjerde.

Frontwoman Agnete Kjølsrud says of the single's lyrical theme: “As much as it hurts, some relationships just have to end. When you find yourselves disappointed time and time again, when you expected more but finally realise that things won`t change… well, it hurts. But instead of breaking down you just have to deal with it and acknowledge the truth; We don’t hang no more.”

DJERV entered the international heavy music scene in 2011 with a debut record well ahead of its time. Engineered by Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, In Flames) and mixed by Matt Hyde (DeftonesNo Doubt) the self-titled album received critical acclaim from Sweden Rock MagazineMetal Hammer UKTerrorizer and Rock Tribune.

Charting at #8 in the official Norwegian charts, DJERV toured heavily, including with Ministry, and performed at Hellfest, Wacken, Eurosonic, and more.

Vocalist Agnete also contributed to Dimmu Borgir's most-streamed song 'Gateways', and the League of Legends song 'Get Jinxed', which now has well over 95,000,000 views on YouTube.

LA-Mexican trad metal trio RUSTY EYE release new video
lead press shot Rusty Eye.jpg

LA-based Mexican traditional metal trio RUSTY EYE have released 'Can't Wait To Go To Hell', the second single taken from their new album, Dissecting Shadows, set for release 23rd October via Blood Blast.

Premiered via Decibel, watch the video for 'Can't Wait To Go To Hell' here: https://youtu.be/WfKrWj19bws

Decibel have lauded the track for its “progressive metal riffing and the dual vocals of drummer Miss Randall and bassist Mr. Rust, (which) pack grooves, solos, synths and an anthemic chorus into the new song.”

Pre-order options are available now on CD, Vinyl (limited to 500 clear variants) and a special limited-edition branded boombox and cassette bundle at http://store.rustyeye.com. Digital pre-orders can be found here

RUSTY EYE - which along with Mr. Rust includes co-vocalist/drummer Miss Randall and guitarist Baron Murtland - have previously released five studio albums, a catalogue of EPs, live records, singles, and music videos that have seen them featured in several notable music outlets including Noisey, Revolver, Metalsucks, Metal Edge, Exclaim! and Music Connection, while their horror-themed lyrics and videos have received praise from the likes of horror genre outlets including Rue Morgue and the defunct FEARnet.com. Their 2014 release Saca el Cobre, a cover album of Spanish language classics by Cuca, Amantes de Lola, Fobia, Caifanes, Café Tacuba, and Maldita Vecindad, caught the attention of famed Mexican musician and filmmaker Sergio Arau, who hired RUSTY EYE to be his backing band.

New album Dissecting Shadows is the most ambitious RUSTY EYE recording thus far, encompassing all of the strengths of the band’s past with a bold look toward the future. The entire album celebrates exploitation cinema, Italian horror, and grindhouse, executed with top-notch musicianship, songwriting, and creative originality. The fierce and fast 'This is Permanent' disguises darkness in catchiness. Its lyrics examine the perils of addiction, without being preachy; it plays with the idea of being “under the influence” (whether that’s of drugs, the media, other people…). 'Hellbound Witch' delves into the band’s love of the occult, sensuality, and Halloween, with echoes of the Salem witch trials, draped in an ambience of persecution. The epic 'Mrs. Baylock' is about the demonic nanny and devilish servant of the 1976 horror classic The Omen.

RUSTY EYE consistently defy expectations, boundaries, and trends, with the same drive of sweat and self-sufficiency that first ignited the band in Mexico City. The RUSTY EYE experience is a wild theme park ride of thrills, chills, and mischievous mayhem, stuffed with the theatricality and cleverness that keeps heavy metal music timeless, iconic, enduring, and gleefully reinvigorating.

Commencing with torches and fire, the video for ‘Deliverance’ has a mysterious atmosphere, and portrays modern society’s unhealthy relationship with luxury, sex, drugs and gambling. Scenes include a sacrificial ritual, extravagant parties, the band performing, and Lars Vegas - dressed like a king - showing his exceptionally long tongue.

The band comment: “We are proud to present you “Deliverance” – the most extreme song and video we’ve ever released. Play it HARD!”

FIGHT THE FIGHT are the soundtrack to punching your inner demons and one of the most unique alternative metal groups out there, as can be heard on the Deliverance album. On the album, they continue: “We are happy to release our second album Deliverance! After many years, sweat, and hard work, we can finally show you guys the result. We are truly happy and proud of the album we’ve made. Hope you guys like it and will play it loud!”

PLAGUE YEARS stream new single video / 'Paradox of Death'
USE FIRST - PY12 Credit - Rian Staber.jpg

USA crossover death thrashers PLAGUE YEARS have unleashed their new single / video 'Paradox of Death', taken from the band's punishingCircle Of Darkness full-length, out now via Entertainment One ("eOne").

Premiered via Metal Sucks, watch 'Paradox of Death' here: https://youtu.be/bIKiSxMa88w

Guitarist Eric Lauder commented: "‘Paradox Of Death’ is a mid-tempo stomper. This is one of my favorite tracks and highlights Mike [Jurysta]’s incredible drumming. The song is a story about killing a snitch after he’s betrayed his people. Loyalty should never be broken. No mercy for rats. Never fold, never bend."

This follows the band's previous singles 'Incantation' and 'Play The Victim'.

Circle Of Darkness is out now on CD, digital, and vinyl formats. Purchase here: https://lnk.to/circleofdarkness

Like an ice pick to the face, PLAGUE YEARS arrive with an electric surge of sudden pain. An unrelenting end-of-the-world assault of the cataclysmic convergence of thrash and hardcore, with added blackened death and mid-tempo madness, the Detroit master blasters are here to crash the crossover party. Summoning the primitive spirit of the singular moment when the heaviest of metal first smashed into a circle pit, PLAGUE YEARS reignite the flame with sharp fury.

Mining the subterranean depths once unearthed on classic Sepultura albums like Beneath The Remains  and Arise, with the vicious bite of Germanic slabs like In The Sign Of Evil by Sodom and the Hall of Fame '80s output of Slayer, the devilish and down-tuned death worship within PLAGUE YEARS serves as a demonic calling card for the foursome; a brutal counterbalance to their otherwise like-minded thrash revivalists. On Circle Of Darkness, the band's full-length debut, PLAGUE YEARS reunite with engineer Arthur Rizk, whose work with Power Trip, Tomb Mold, Candy, and Cavalera Conspiracy has propelled him to the front of the horde amidst the resurgence of crossover thrash.

PLAGUE YEARS pay homage to Detroit fore bearers Negative Approach and modern contemporaries Hellmouth in equal measure, while infusing the proceedings with a brutal spin of their own design. In terms of lyrical aggression, songs like 'Play The Victim' and 'Paradox Of Death' blend traditional death metal blood-and-gore fantasy with the unrestrained bravado of Detroit's grittier contributions to rap, like LOM Rambo and Motown upstart Icewear Vezzo.
