In 2011 the band released their self-produced full-length album Plutonium Heaven, and the following year they entered Kohlekeller Studios (Aborted, Benighted) to forge their highly appreciated second record Radiophobia. Since the release of Radiophobia via Unique Leader Records in 2012, CYTOTOXIN continually toured the clubs and festivals of Europe. In January 2017 the band returned to Kohlekeller Studios to record their highly anticipated third album Gammageddon, which was released later that year.

Ready to conquer the world with their new weapon Nuklearth, and now their debut headline tour - you better keep your gasmask at hand.

Rock trio FINAL STAIR release video for new single 'Dreamhunter'

Rock trio FINAL STAIR have released a video for their third single 'Dreamhunter', out now via Arising Empire. The band are fast becoming known for their multi-layered, fuzz-laden brand of stoner/desert rock, drawing influence from the likes of Clutch and Kyuss

Check out the video for 'Dreamhunter' here: https://youtu.be/IW8j9KQUTgE

'Dreamhunter' is an emotional song, telling a personal story of the band and one that many of us have already lived through. The song also reflects the most painful phase in the history of FINAL STAIR.

We all strive for success, recognition, happiness and satisfaction; but sometimes the associated pressure, whether from colleagues, friends, family or social media, leads to an almost hopeless impasse. You wake up drenched in sweat in the morning, because the hunt for your dream does not solve your problems and your creativity has evaporated overnight. Your stomach will cramp thinking of social media peer pressure and the disproportionate following others receive online. In this light you feel small and insignificant and that paralyses all abilities that make you an artist, friend or person.

That is why 'Dreamhunter' is perceived as a release from creative rigidity: what do real values mean for each individual? How do you measure happiness and how many servings do you need? What are emotions worth in an increasingly cold and technological world? FINAL STAIR has no universal answers to these questions, but just thinking about them can be a saving bridge between fiction, claim and reality. As a band, FINAL STAIR want to keep chasing their dreams and encourage others to do so - but not at any price. The three-piece transform personal low points into creative high points, displayed through the enthusiasm and excitement of 'Dreamhunter' and its accompanying music video.

FINAL STAIR stand for a symbiosis of experiences, feelings, pain, passion and the will to create music full of inspirational stories. They relentlessly pursue this objective and climb the stairs step-by-step, overcoming obstacles together.

The trio, comprised of twins Istvan and Denes Vörös and blood brother André Seidel, unveil the art of writing contagious rock music in the modern age. Inspirational lyrics are wrapped in a massive wall of sound with an infectious effect. With this overwhelming energy they reach different generations hungry for genuine music, a powerful sound and authentic stories.

The band's previous singles have had impressive support, not only licensed by Netflix but also featured on compilations by Universal Music. FINAL STAIR has also been championed by Spotify's New Music Friday playlist, as well as Kerrang!, Alternative Press, Digital Tour Bus and more across the globe.

The trio have toured throughout Europe and China, including a headline show at the legendary MAO Livehouse in Shanghai. They've also appeared at festivals such as Sazavafest, Focus FestivalTaubertal Festival and Dithmarscher Rockfestival.

FINAL STAIR are an unstoppable band and 'Dreamhunter' proves yet again that their creativity and energy is far from exhausted, standing for exceptional style, massive sound and overwhelmingly intense shows.

BRYAN BELLER releases double music video for 'A Quickening' and 'Steiner In Ellipses'
bryan vid shot 1.png

BRYAN BELLER (bassist for The AristocratsJoe SatrianiDethklok) has released a new music video for two songs -  'A Quickening' and 'Steiner In Ellipses' - from his critically acclaimed 2019 progressive double concept album, Scenes From The Flood.

Playing five characters (including himself), and featuring special guests Gene Hoglan, Mike Keneally, Rick Musallam and Kyle Hughes, watch the 'A Quickening' / 'Steiner In Ellipses' video here: https://youtu.be/HMrecs4Niyg

Tackling the challenge of creating a unique home-shot video during months of tour-less semi-quarantine, BELLER’s hyper-paced, withering satire tells the story of four characters with musical dreams – a nerdy accountant, a hipster douchebag, a cross-dressing keyboardist, and an aging rocker, all played by BELLER himself – grappling with creating content and the drive-by commentary of social media, all in an age of ever-increasing isolation and primarily digital existence.

“When COVID hit, at first, I really had no idea what to do creatively,” says BELLER, social distancing from the city in his remote north Los Angeles County residence. “It was all such a shock, the sudden cancellation of everything, everyone stuck at home. So I thought, I’ll just wait and observe. Lots and lots of screen time, you know? And then I realized – as musicians, creators, and just as people, we’re all doing the same thing, aren’t we? So let’s tell a story about what humans try and do with that.”

The result is a frenetic and radical deconstruction of a typical play-through video. BELLER’s four characters play their parts in earnest as a critical chorus of social media commentary appears on-screen with near machine-gun frequency. Eventually the accountant, the hipster, the cross-dresser and the rocker all check their own social media accounts and read the comments, to their abject horror. The second half of the video then takes a hard metal turn before a plot twist brings the characters together for the grand finale…or does it?

“It occurred to me that we could create a phenomenon where the viewer, in real life, is watching this video, probably on a social media platform with the ability to comment, about characters performing and posting on a social media platform while people comment about them, and then they log on to their own social media accounts and read those typically horrible comments about themselves,” says BELLER“It’s pretty world-inside-a-world meta, and more than a little absurd. But that’s where we are these days, aren’t we? All of us, spending too much time inside in front of a screen, doomscrolling and re-examining our lives? I figured, let’s at least have a little fun taking the piss out of all of it. And let’s make the video really fast, really crazy, really over the top and totally in your face.”

For that mission, BELLER turned to video editor ZZ Satriani (son of guitarist Joe Satriani, and editor/director of Satch’s 2016 tour documentary Beyond The Supernova). “I’m 49 years old, and ZZ is 28. The millennial take on video pacing is just completely different than your typical Gen X’er who grew up on old school MTV videos. It’s just so much faster, so much more dense, and I felt this video really needed that. I’d actually been a fan of ZZ’s work for a while. He really got the vibe I was trying to convey.”

The two short, up-tempo songs in segue succession – the breakbeat drum-and-bass-flavoured 'A Quickening,' and the throwback thrash metal anthem 'Steiner In Ellipses' –  proved to be the right tunes for BELLER to exemplify the concept. The actual musicians who played on the album tracks – legendary metal drummer Gene Hoglan (Death, Testament, Strapping Young Lad); eclectic genius guitarist/composer Mike Keneally (Frank Zappa, Joe Satriani), and L.A. session specialist Rick Musallam (Ben Taylor, Carly Simon) – show up in the video as well, playing straight men to BELLER’s esoteric ensemble cast. Additionally, British drummer Kyle Hughes (Bumblefoot, Marco Mendoza) contributes a new drum track layer on top of 'A Quickening' that isn’t present on the album version, creating a new arrangement of the song specific to this video.

“In the story of Scenes From The Flood, ’A Quickening’ is about the acceleration of our culture from the social media instant-feedback loop, and ‘Steiner in Ellipses’ is about a powerful force that presents as benevolent, but might be malevolent. Musically they’re two different worlds, but conceptually they’re very connected. They both move really fast, and they eventually build to this dizzying finale. It felt like the correct musical canvas to try something bizarre and left field like this. Hopefully people will get a laugh out of it, and then maybe think a little bit about where we are, how we got here, and where this all leads.”

The Oakland quintet specialise in music for the mosh where a good party is guaranteed - heavy breakdowns and metallic power combine to inspire all disciples of hardcore.

Live At Summer Breeze will be available on 6th November 2020 via Arising Empire as DigiLP and in limited special bundles via ImpericonCoreTex and EMP.

Bay Area, California’s reigning kings of heavy hardcore first stormed into the scene in 2007 with their debut album: The Will To Survive. Taking influence from bands like Blood For Blood, and MadballLIONHEART came out swinging with a full-blown assault of blistering metallic hardcore. They quickly followed it up with 2010’s Built On Struggle, 2012’s Undisputed and years of non-stop touring.

Following a short break after their release Undisputed, the band came back stronger than ever with 2014’s Welcome To The Westcoast. The album debuted at #1 on both iTunes Metal and GooglePlay Metal Charts. LIONHEART stormed into the scene again in January 2016 with Love Don’t Live Here. The album title, a nod to a classic R&B/ Motown Song by the same name, shows the band's unwillingness to conform to the typical hardcore mould, as well as the bitter and unforgiving lyrical content the band is known for. November 2017 saw LIONHEART unleash Welcome To The Westcoast II. A sequel to Welcome To The Westcoast (2014), the album brought forth a new era in California Hardcore, and saw them again debut at #1 across the iTunes Metal Charts and Google Play Metal Charts.

2019, after endless touring around the globe, LIONHEART returned with their most punishing album to date: Valley Of Death. Backed by a combination of blistering metallic hardcore and heavy West Coast groove, front-man Rob Watson provides an insight into a life of torment, violence, and an unrelenting will to overcome. With Valley Of Death LIONHEART climbed into the German Top 20 Album Charts, as well as #1 on iTunes Metal Charts and Google Play Metal Charts.

"In these uncertain times we hope our music and message can reach those most in need of a musical release"

Cambridge alt-rockers STANDING LIKE STATUES have released a video for their brand new single 'Skylines'. The track is the first single from their long-awaited second EP, Reality Checkpoint, due for release on 13th November 2020.

Check out the video for 'Skylines' here: https://youtu.be/avwI-hYTJpA

Vocalist Jamie Wiltshire describes ‘Skylines’ as "a story about feeling claustrophobic. To fear losing people for finally being true to who you are. The pain of constantly apologising to someone you love for things that you can’t control and the underlying anxiety that can eat away, making you question and over-rationalise things. It’s a cry for help, with an answer. We want to be there for the people who connect with this track, like this song helped us be there for each other.”

Formed in 2015, STANDING LIKE STATUES have supported We Are The OceanDecade, Fort Hope and Courage My Love, as well as being featured on BBC Look East and, more recently, BBC Introducing Cambridge.

Inspired by the likes of Taking Back Sunday30 Seconds To Mars and Biffy ClyroSTANDING LIKE STATUES draw from the greats of alternative rock to combine anthemic energy with soul-searching lyrics.

STANDING LIKE STATUES worked with renowned producer Romesh Dodangoda on the new EP, which has forced the band to dig deep and harness the power to commit themselves to authenticity; rising above the blur of memes, trends, concepts and false personas which dominate modern life. Having learned to laugh in the face of adversity, there are no barriers to fight through and lots of love to give.

Prog virtuoso PLINI announces new album & streams single

Hailed as one of the top 10 prog guitarists in the world today, Australia’s independent instrumental progressive solo artist, PLINI, will be releasing his long-awaited sophomore record, Impulse Voices, on 27th November.

PLINI is also streaming the lead track from the album 'I'll Tell You Someday'. Listen here: https://youtu.be/rm2WKBEj0fw

Pre-order Impulse Voices here: https://www.plini.co/impulse-voices

Impulse Voices was mixed and co-produced by Simon Grove, with artwork designed by long-time collaborator Alex Pryle. The album features Chris Allison on drums, Simon Grove on bass, with guest contributions from Dave Mackay on piano & synthesizer, John Waugh on saxophone, Amy Turk on electro-acoustic harp, and additional production from Devesh Dayal & Aleksandra Djelmash

PLINI comments: "The early demos for these songs range from a few months to a few years old, but the majority of the work that went into the album was during the first half of this year. With all travel plans cancelled until further notice, I slowed my lifestyle way down and spent almost every day from March til August wandering around Sydney, listening to podcasts and music, and then coming home and chipping away at these songs.

"It was an extremely fun, rewarding and explorative process – the closest I’ve felt to the free-spiritedness I had when I first started writing music (way before ever releasing it), but informed by everything I’ve learnt and experienced in the last few years of tours and travel. To make an analogy, I feel like I designed a pretty cool house for the listener to inhabit with these songs, but it was made truly special by the masterfully-crafted furnishings and decorations added by Chris, Simon and the rest of the musicians involved."

'I'll Tell You Someday' is the lead single from Impulse VoicesPLINI continues: "I picked this as the first “single” because I wanted to provide the listener with a big, warm, instrumental hug, in a time when I feel everyone could use one. I think it gives a friendly first impression of the album, in terms of sound and energy, though may also provide a false sense of security for some of the stranger territory the rest of the album ventures into…"

Caribbean prog-metallers AVANDRA announce new album and stream single
bandpic.png

Puerto Rican prog-metal band AVANDRA have released new single 'Celestial Wreaths' and announced the release of new album Skylighting, out 20th November via Layered Reality Productions.

Bandcamp: http://bit.ly/avandraskybc
LRP store: http://bit.ly/avandraskylrp

When the pandemic hit, guitarist Christian Ayala wrote ‘Celestial Wreaths’ about to the situation the world was in, and a snowball of creativity led to him writing a whole new album.

Christian Ayala comments: "'Celestial Wreaths' is an emotional song written during the pandemic that is hitting the world right now, about the inevitable loss that we have to deal with. It's a song for all those who have lost a loved one during these trying times. May you find them shining bright in the night sky..."

On the album, he continues: “This new album is the response to our current situation in the world due to everything that has happened to us. It became a voyage of loss and return through cosmic cycles in which I both searched inward and outward, combining my love for philosophy and current events into songs. We were joined this time around by keyboardist extraordinaire Vikram Shankar (Redemption, Silent Skies, Lux Terminus) who provided additional layers to the songs, taking them to a whole new level. We are really excited to share this record with all of you guys!"

Starting as a one-man project by Christian Ayala and evolving into a full on live band in 2017, Puerto Rican quartet AVANDRA have been on a consistent musical journey. Blending the technicality of progressive metal with the ambience of post-rock, their sound is both familiar, yet completely their own.

The follow-up to the critically acclaimed Descender album, which earned them tour offers for the USA and a slot on Prog Power Europe, Skylighting showcases a more introspective and ambient side to the band's sound. Yet when this album decides to hit hard, it leaves a big impact.

Featuring guest synths performed by renowned keyboardist Vikram ShankarSkylighting was produced by Daniel Schwartz (Astronoid) and the mastered by Jamie King (Between The Buried And Me, Scale The Summit, The Contortionist and more).

Vocalist Mac Smith commented: KROSIS is proud to present, 'Terminus,' the lead single from our upcoming album, Solem Vatem Redux. This release includes completely revamped production and new vocal work from myself. Joining the band roughly five months after the initial release of Solem Vatem, I am extremely excited to reveal my take on this material. This project was challenging, as I had to adopt some vocal stylings that I had not previously attempted before. Overall, I am very proud of how Solem Vatem Redux has turned out, and we hope you will be too! Thank you for all your support and we hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed creating it"

Solem Vatem Redux is the second part of KROSIS' Memoir Anthology, a series of three releases including a re-release of their debut album Mount of Sacrifice, a re-release of their 2018 Unique Leader label debut Solem Vatem and there will be a brand new EP to come in 2021.

Solem Vatem Redux featured all new recordings and mixes by Brandon Scurlark of Eltar Studios and a new master by Jamie King (The Contortionist, Between The the Buried and Me).  It also retains the original's guest performances from Pierre Daniel of Kadinja and John Robert C. of The Last Ten Seconds Of Life.

Solem Vatem was originally released in 2018 featuring vocalist Tyler Brown. Shortly after release, Brown departed from KROSIS and was replaced by Mac Smith. 2020’s Solem Vatem Ultimate Redux spotlights Smith's unique and diverse vocal ability, and gives the fan-favourite album a whole new soundscape.
