IVY CROWN share playthrough for 'Lonesome and Cold'
IvyCrown_small.jpg

Danish metalcore quartet IVY CROWN have released a playthrough for their single 'Lonesome and Cold'. The track is taken from their debut album Echo, released on 25th October 2019 via Long Branch Records.

Watch the playthrough video here: https://youtu.be/n1weNKFM8Ng

Get the album here: https://ivycrown.lnk.to/echo

IVY CROWN commented on the playthrough video: "'Lonesome and Cold' is a song that has a lot of meaning to us; it's the the opener on Echo, the first single we released from the album and Natasja wrote the first riff 12 years ago. We decided to strip it down to an instrumental song along with making a playthrough video. In addition to that, we hope that everyone does not get lonesome in the cold times ahead of us."

IVY CROWN are a melodic metalcore quartet hailing from the cold streets of Copenhagen, Denmark. Captivating vocals, detailed compositions and heavy riffs make up the band's formula which is impressively showcased on Echo. These girls are geared up to take on the world, and make some necks hurt.

IVY CROWN rose from the ashes of Taras, a well-known Danish punk rock band that played shows from clubs to arenas all over Denmark and in the UK, and even had their own episode on Danish national television, DR.

Debut album Echo was recorded and produced by Chris Kreutzfeldt (Cabal), with assisting vocal production from Mirza Radonjica-Bang (Siamese). The album also has guest features from Kadeem France (Loathe), Kim Song Sternkopf (MØL) and Jesper Gün (Ghost Iris).

Norwegian punks LÜT release new single 'Ingenting Å Angre På'

Norwegian punks LÜT have released their upbeat new single 'Ingenting Å Angre På', taken from their forthcoming album Mersmak, which is due for release January 2021 via Indie Recordings.

Stream 'Ingenting Å Angre På' here: https://orcd.co/iaap

'Ingenting Å Angre På' translates as 'nothing to regret' and is a full showcase of LÜT's PMA punk rock sound. The chorus delivers on energetic melodic hardcore vibes and is an instant earworm. Once again the overwhelming power of LÜT is a welcome shot of pure energy.

As the band comment:

"When closing our eyes we often re-watch the embarrassing incidents in our life. After a summer of touring and a lot of crazy sh*t happening (not suitable to be written down) we decided to stop giving a f*ck and write 'Ingenting Å Angre På'. We try to live our lives accordingly, which can be hard sometimes. At least the mentality gave us a really cool song. Enjoy!"

The singles continue the band's no-holds-barred, no-frills approach to modern rock as seen in previous tracks, 'Strictly Business', 'Homme Fatale', 'LÜTetro', 'We Will Save Scandirock' and 'Mersmak', the title-track from LÜT's forthcoming LP. 'LÜTetro' was featured on Kerrang!'s "5 Songs You Need To Hear" and enjoyed international radio airplay and recognition, and exciting playlist placements.

Mersmak roughly translates as 'Taste for more / Wanting more', a fitting title for this infectiously raucous group. Elements of Turbonegro, Blood Command, Kvelertak and more combine to exhilarating and beguiling effect, and cements the band's rising status as ones to watch following their critically acclaimed debut Pandion (2017).

Ever since their foundation, LÜT have been a band that have captivated rock audiences, making a name for themselves in Norway. With their debut album, LÜT were nominated for 'New Band of the Year' in both the Norwegian Grammys Spellemannprisen and the Norwegian Radio award show P3 Gull. They have also found a fan in Lars Ulrich, who praised them on his podcast 'It’s Electric'. The band have also recently played at Summer Breeze Open Air, Reeperbahn, Øya and Tons Of Rock, as well as several other Norwegian festivals.

"We went through highs and lows writing this album, and it was definitely a learning process which made the band stronger as a whole. As such; making this album has been a type of contemplation. We’re excited to have finished the ‘difficult second album’ and couldn’t have hoped for a better result. It’s great to finally be able to show the world what we’ve been working on,” says vocalist Markus Danjord.

The band have made some changes to the line-up in the last year, as guitarist Mads Ystmark (Heave Blood and Die) has replaced former members Hans Marius Mikkelsen and Viljar Ratama Dunderovic. Following this change, LÜT spent months in Norway and abroad, finishing their second album.

Mersmak was mixed by Mike Schuppan (Paramore, M83, Jimmy Eat World), mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (Converge, Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein Stranger Things Soundtracks), and recorded in Giske and Tromsø, Norway, and Bronson Island in Los Angeles, USA.

Ingested.pressshot1.jpg

Kings of British death metal INGESTED have announced the release of debut EP Stinking Cesspool of Liquefied Human Remnants, remixed and mastered. The band are also streaming the lead track from the record 'Butchered and Devoured'.

Listen to 'Butchered and Devoured' here: https://youtu.be/cTuiLxtqveA

Deleted before the release of debut album Surpassing the Boundaries of Human Suffering, the EP features the original recordings of songs which later made it to the full-length. Recorded just five months after the band formed in May 2006, this EP release marks the band's 15 year anniversary.

Drummer Lyn Jeffs commented: "To celebrate our 15 year anniversary as a band we're stoked to announce we are releasing a completely remixed and remastered version of our sought after 2006 EP, Stinking Cesspool of Liquefied Human Remnants, which originally featured on our debut split CD release North-West Slam Fest. This is a must have for fans who wants a piece of INGESTED history and is a great way for newer listeners to delve into our roots and experience our early sound."

With a huge-sounding modern mix and master, Stinking Cesspool of Liquefied Human Remnants is great snapshot into the band’s early sound for a seasoned fan, as well as a great intro to the band’s roots for a new listener. Recorded and engineered in October 2006 by Simon “Ding” Archer at 6dB Studios, Manchester, England, it was remixed, remastered and edited by Nico Beninato at Kimera Recordings, Palma de Mallorca, Spain.

INTERVALS release new single featuring Marco Sfogli

Torchbearers of progressive, instrumental rock, INTERVALS, have shared 'String Theory', the latest single from the band’s highly anticipated full-length, Circadian, due out 13th November.

Featuring a guest performance from guitar virtuoso Marco Sfogli, listen to 'String Theory' here: https://youtu.be/tH-cDIk8eY0

Aaron Marshall comments: "'String Theory' features one of my all time favourite guitarists Marco Sfogli and I'm hyped for you guys to hear his contribution on this tune".

'String Theory' follows the widely praised singles 'Lock & Key' and '5-HTP'.

Circadian was co-produced by Marshall and fellow Torontonian, Sam Guaiana (Silverstein, Obey The Brave, Like Pacific) - marking the first time the esteemed producer had ever worked on an instrumental record. It was also the first time that most of the work on an INTERVALS record was done locally in Toronto. As a result, Marshall had the opportunity to be more involved in the production and mixing process than ever before.

Circadian is meant to be viewed as a singular piece, with obsessive attention paid to the flow of the record. It’s full of motifs, cadences, and themes that are revisited throughout the record and even recalled from previous releases. Circadian intentionally clocks in at eight songs and roughly 40 minutes, as Marshall gave considerable thought to where the sweet spot between listener satisfaction and desire to immediately play it back was. Every minute detail surrounding the record has purpose, and builds towards an all encompassing experience.

More information on INTERVALS:

Through the progressive, instrumental rock project, INTERVALS, Aaron Marshall has long been considered an innovator. He’s built a career on trusting his instincts, even when that intuition has led him down a road that is decidedly less travelled. That may mean tearing down genre norms, finding creative ways to interact with fans, or a commitment to self-releasing music even when label opportunities are readily available to him. Marshall has bet on himself continuously, and backed that gamble up with hard work, unparalleled creativity, and an uncompromising desire to make each INTERVALS release a pivotal moment in the lineage of instrumental rock. On INTERVALS’ latest record, Circadian, Marshall continues to push the limit at every turn, resulting in arguably the most dynamic record in the band’s highly-revered catalogue.

HUMANITY'S LAST BREATH announce new album details and launch pre-order
bandpic 20.jpg

Swedish black death juggernauts HUMANITY'S LAST BREATH have announced the release of new album Välde, the apocalyptically heavy follow-up to 2019's Abyssal, on 12th February 2021 via Unique Leader.

The announcement follows the release of crushing new single 'Vittring', watch the video here: https://youtu.be/_RBiC8WvW8I and stream here: https://orcd.co/vittring

Meaning 'Empire' in Swedish, Välde is a darker, bleaker journey than it's predecessor, with a further emphasis on the atmospheric nature of the band's sound and the use of dissonance, creating a claustrophobic, dense record that pulverises the senses. Almost uncomfortably bleak at times, echoes of the likes of Ulver and Meshuggah are present on Välde, combining perfectly with HLB's signature blackened groove template that they have become renowned. An atomic bomb of a record - this is HUMANITY'S LAST BREATH in their coldest, nastiest form.

HUMANITY’S LAST BREATH are a deathcore band from Helsingborg, Sweden. Since their inception in 2009, they have made huge waves in the death metal underground with their monolithic, terrifyingly heavy, and relentlessly technical sound.

Led by band mastermind, guitarist and producer Buster Odeholm (Vildjharta, Born of Osiris, Oceano), HLB have proven time and time again to be one of the most fearless, uncompromising, and creative voices in extreme music.

Greece’s leading prog band NEED have streamed their new single 'Nemmortal', the first glimpse of their long-awaited fifth album, Norchestrion: a song for the end (to be released January 12th, 2021, via Ikaros Records).

The release of 'Nemmortal' holds special significance, as it is a celebration of the band's 15th anniversary - 5th November 2005 being NEED's first ever live show.

Premiered on Prog, you can now watch the video for 'Nemmortal' here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CDH0gucGlU

Norchestrion will be released on digipack CD, double vinyl LP (with a limited edition of golden vinyl), a limited edition boxset, and on all digital platforms.

Norchestrion follows NEED’s critically acclaimed LP Hegaiamas: a song for freedom, and is by far the band’s most ambitious and adventurous album to date.

Throughout Norchestrion’s 66-minute run-time, fans will see NEED experiment with new elements, whilst maintaining the characteristics that have – in their fifteen years of existence – made them one of Greece’s most fêted rock groups.

The touring cycle of Hegaiamas resulted in an impressive 72 shows worldwide, including a 24-date run across the USA and Canada, and then a 22-date EU run, both with Sweden's Evergrey. NEED also performed at the 20th Anniversary Edition of ProgPower Europe (Netherlands) and SoundArt Fest (Romania). The band also supported Fates Warning, Pain of Salvation, and Coroner in Greece, and undertook multiple headline tours across their home country and throughout Eastern Europe – including headlining Prog Over Athens in late 2017.

Elements of the best of modern melodic prog and powerful symphonic metal combine to create a thrilling and highly rewarding listen in Norchestrion: a song for the end. Elements of Dream Theater, Pain of Salvation, and Nevermore can be heard, all while remaining uniquely NEED.

Cover art was created by Dimitris Tsoutsas, who is also responsible for the artwork of Orvam: a song for home and The Wisdom Machine. The album's mix and master was handled by Hector D at hd factory.

Prog virtuoso PLINI streams new single / video 'Papelillo'

Australian progressive solo artist, PLINI, has released video / single 'Papelillo', taken from his long-awaited sophomore record, Impulse Voices, out 27th November.

Voted as one the greatest musicians of all time by Prog magazine readers, watch the video here: https://youtu.be/IpjpgbmwEkM

New album Impulse Voices was mixed and co-produced by Simon Grove, with artwork designed by long-time collaborator Alex Pryle. The album features Chris Allison on drums, Simon Grove on bass, with guest contributions from Dave Mackay on piano & synthesizer, John Waugh on saxophone, Amy Turk on electro-acoustic harp, and additional production from Devesh Dayal & Aleksandra Djelmash

PLINI comments on Impulse Voices"The early demos for these songs range from a few months to a few years old, but the majority of the work that went into the album was during the first half of this year. With all travel plans cancelled until further notice, I slowed my lifestyle way down and spent almost every day from March til August wandering around Sydney, listening to podcasts and music, and then coming home and chipping away at these songs.

"It was an extremely fun, rewarding and explorative process – the closest I’ve felt to the free-spiritedness I had when I first started writing music (way before ever releasing it), but informed by everything I’ve learnt and experienced in the last few years of tours and travel. To make an analogy, I feel like I designed a pretty cool house for the listener to inhabit with these songs, but it was made truly special by the masterfully-crafted furnishings and decorations added by Chris, Simon and the rest of the musicians involved."
