AS EVERYTHING UNFOLDS release new single 'Wallow'
AUE2_small.jpg

Melodic post-hardcore sextet AS EVERYTHING UNFOLDS have released their new single 'Wallow'. The track is the fourth single from their forthcoming debut album, Within Each Lies The Other, set for release on 26th March 2021 via Long Branch Records.

Check out the visualiser for 'Wallow' here: https://youtu.be/HGAhxk24ohI

Vocalist Charlie Rolfe comments on the single:

"Anger and sadness really drove this track lyrically and there's a lot of frustration which is present through the use of the mostly harsh vocals. It’s a song about betrayal, liars and anyone who has ever done anything to you to make you deliberately feel worthless. A lot of energy is taken out on this song, and we invite you to do the same."

'Wallow' follows the band's previous singles 'Take Me There', 'Hiding From Myself' and 'Stranger In The Mirror', which have collectively garnered over 1,000,000 streams.

Since the release of their Closure EP in late 2018, AS EVERYTHING UNFOLDS have gone from strength to strength, touring heavily across the UK & Europe, including performing alongside the likes of Dream State, ADEPT, Our Hollow, Our Home and more.

The success of Closure caught the attention of the esteemed Long Branch Records, who signed an international deal with the six-piece this year. Alongside their dedicated fanbase and hard-working ethos, the future is strong for the band, the future is AS EVERYTHING UNFOLDS.

HUMANITY'S LAST BREATH stream lyric video for 'Glutton' single ahead of release
bandpic 20 small.jpg

Swedish blackened death juggernauts HUMANITY'S LAST BREATH have unveiled the lyric video for new single 'Glutton' ahead of its release tomorrow. 'Glutton' is taken from new album Välde, out 12th February via Unique Leader.

Watch the lyric video to 'Glutton' here: https://youtu.be/IIK-aEEq3KY

Pre-save 'Glutton' here: https://hlb.streamlink.to/glutton

Välde is the apocalyptically heavy follow-up to 2019's album Abyssal. Meaning 'Empire' in Swedish, Välde is a darker, bleaker journey than its predecessor, with a further emphasis on the atmospheric nature of the band's sound and the use of dissonance, creating a claustrophobic, dense record that pulverises the senses. Almost uncomfortably bleak at times, echoes of the likes of Ulver and Meshuggah are present on Välde, combining perfectly with HLB's signature blackened groove template for which they have become renowned. An atomic bomb of a record - this is HUMANITY'S LAST BREATH in their coldest, nastiest form.

HUMANITY’S LAST BREATH will tour Välde in 2021 with Black Tongue and Cabal in support. New dates to be announced asap.

More information:

HUMANITY’S LAST BREATH are a deathcore band from Helsingborg, Sweden. Since their inception in 2009, they have made huge waves in the death metal underground with their monolithic, terrifyingly heavy, and relentlessly technical sound.

Led by band mastermind, guitarist and producer Buster Odeholm (Vildjharta, Born of Osiris, Oceano), HLB have proven time and time again to be one of the most fearless, uncompromising, and creative voices in extreme music.

Cambridge alt-rockers STANDING LIKE STATUES have released a video for 'Stupid Love', taken from their 2020 sophomore EP, Reality Checkpoint. The enticing single has already proven to be a hit with press and fans alike, including strong support from Kerrang! Radio's Johnny Doom. 'Stupid Love' was also championed as one of the best tracks on the BBC Introducing uploader, following recent airplay on BBC Music Introducing in Cambridge.

Check out the video for 'Stupid Love' here: https://youtu.be/6dZRrawRK04

The band comment on the new single:

"Love is beautiful, but it can also be painful. This is the ultimate 'keeping it together' anthem. It was written following the end of a near decade-long relationship, about dealing with the mixed emotions that come from all angles. It’s about fighting through the worst of it and realising that the end of one thing can be the beginning of something else."

Stream/purchase the band's Reality Checkpoint EP here: https://statues.fanlink.to/realitycheckpoint

Formed in 2015, STANDING LIKE STATUES have supported We Are The Ocean, Decade, Fort Hope and Courage My Love, as well as being featured on BBC Look East and, more recently, BBC Introducing Cambridge.

Inspired by the likes of Taking Back Sunday, 30 Seconds To Mars and Biffy Clyro, STANDING LIKE STATUES draw from the greats of alternative rock to combine anthemic energy with soul-searching lyrics.

STANDING LIKE STATUES worked with renowned producer Romesh Dodangoda on their latest EP, which has forced the band to dig deep and harness the power to commit themselves to authenticity; rising above the blur of memes, trends, concepts and false personas which dominate modern life. Having learned to laugh in the face of adversity, there are no barriers to fight through and lots of love to give.

Greece's leading prog band NEED stream new single, 'Norchestrion'
unnamed.jpg

Greece’s leading proggers NEED have released their new single 'Norchestrion', the title-track of their anticipated fifth album, Norchestrion: a song for the end (to be released 12th January, 2021, via Ikaros Records).

You can stream the single here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OiR9_wdbZhk
Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/y5ypvruh
iTunes: https://tinyurl.com/yxdgw3zm

Pre-order Norchestrion: a song for the end, here: https://needband.bandcamp.com

The band comment: "'Norchestrion' was the last song we wrote for the new album. Being the last one, it kinda freed us even more to try some new and different stuff we had never tried before, thus creating what we feel is one of the best and most exciting songs we've ever put out. The fact that it ended up giving the name to the title I guess says something to that extent!'"

Norchestrion will be released on digipack CD, double vinyl LP (with a limited edition of golden vinyl), a limited edition boxset, and on all digital platforms.

Norchestrion follows NEED’s critically acclaimed LP Hegaiamas: a song for freedom, and is by far the band’s most ambitious and adventurous album to date.

Throughout Norchestrion’s 66-minute run-time, fans will see NEED experiment with new elements, whilst maintaining the characteristics that have – in their fifteen years of existence – made them one of Greece’s most fêted rock groups.

The touring cycle of Hegaiamas resulted in an impressive 72 shows worldwide, including a 24-date run across the USA and Canada, and then a 22-date EU run, both with Sweden's Evergrey. NEED also performed at the 20th Anniversary Edition of ProgPower Europe (Netherlands) and SoundArt Fest (Romania). The band also supported Fates Warning, Pain of Salvation, and Coroner in Greece, and undertook multiple headline tours across their home country and throughout Eastern Europe – including headlining Prog Over Athens in late 2017.

Elements of the best of modern melodic prog and powerful symphonic metal combine to create a thrilling and highly rewarding listen in Norchestrion: a song for the end. Elements of Dream Theater, Pain of Salvation, and Nevermore can be heard, all while remaining uniquely NEED.

Cover art was created by Dimitris Tsoutsas, who is also responsible for the artwork of Orvam: a song for home and The Wisdom Machine. The album's mix and master was handled by Hector D at hd factory.

NEED are:

Jon Voyager - vocals
George Ravaya - guitar, vocals
Anthony Hadjee - keyboards, vocals
Stelios Paschalis - drums
Viktor Kouloubis - bass

INTERNAL BLEEDING announce livestream with Dark Forces Live
unnamed (2).jpg

Pioneering New York death metal legends INTERNAL BLEEDING have announced a livestream in conjunction with Dark Forces Live, showing on 2nd Jan at 5pm EST/ 10PM GMT / 11PM CET.

Tickets and merch bundles can be purchased here: https://darkforceslive.com/

Guitarist Chris Pervelis commented “Welp, 2020 certainly sucked — so let’s bring in a new, better year on January 2! Join IB and thousands of fans worldwide and SLAM your way into 2021 with a killer livestream concert.”

The band will perform as set featuring material spanning their career as well as their devastatingly heavy sixth full length album, Corrupting Influence, out now via Unique Leader Records.

Obituary’s Trevor Peres, Joe Cincotta from Full Force Studio, and Sean Bell from Forever Dark have joined together creating Dark Forces Live, a new live streaming platform. To celebrate, Dark Forces Live has invited INTERNAL BLEEDING to perform at their inaugural livestream event. The performance will broadcast from Designatronix industries in Ronkonkoma, NY.

Trevor Peres comments: “After doing the livestreams with Obituary, Joe Cincotta, who was doing the sound for the first two streams, asked me if I would want to start up a production/promotion company to produce livestreams up in New York. I, immediately, loved the idea and figured we could help out metal bands that don’t know where to start to produce a livestream concert. We put a ton of hours researching and figuring out how this shit works, so we are taking that new found knowledge and experience to other bands and starting Dark Forces Live.”

The band have also announced their signings with management Wild Thing Presents (Caligula's Horse), AMF Publishing (Cult of Luna, Leprous, The Ocean), and NMC Live (Agent Fresco, Sólstafir, Nordic Giants).

Lynsey Ward, vocalist, comments: "We couldn’t be more proud to be joining the Wild Thing and Northern team. Joining bands like Agent Fresco, Leprous, and Caligula’s Horse is such a pinch-me moment for us, and we are so excited for what 2021 has in store. After spending the past year writing our next record and assembling a crazy talented international team, we can’t wait to get back out on the road next year and back to what we love most!"

Eli Chamravi, Wild Thing Presents, says: "Earlier this year, Caligula’s Horse sent me a cover recording of Peter Gabriel’s ‘Don’t Give Up’ for a bonus track off their latest album. Hearing the Kate Bush duet parts, I was utterly astonished. These angelic sounds immediately struck me as a once-in-a-generation type voice. Who’s voice is this? The band tell me it's Lynsey Ward, from an up-and-coming UK prog act called EXPLORING BIRDSONG. I listened to their debut EP, and without hesitation signed myself up to be their manager and develop their career internationally. I couldn’t be more excited to work with such an ambitious and extremely talented young band, together with my esteemed colleagues AMF Publishing, NMC Live, and Long Branch Records."

Rarely are new groups as exciting, talented or unique as Exploring Birdsong, the piano-led guitarless trio from Liverpool. Straddling progressive rock, pop, and uncategorizable genre-blending beauty, the band are riding high following the release of their 2019 debut EP The Thing With Feathers (Long Branch Records).

Rarely too do you hear voices as captivating as frontwoman Lynsey Ward’s. Powerful, controlled, and spine-chillingly tender, Lynsey’s vocals help mark Exploring Birdsong as a prospect to watch, not least in the band’s staggering ‘The Downpour’, described by the band as “our Great Gig In The Sky”. Also playing keyboards, she is backed by the jawdropping talents of Matt Harrison on drums/percussion and Jonny Knight on bass/second keyboards (and sometimes playing both simultaneously).

The Thing With Feathers is broadly speaking a concept release, centred on the Seamus Heaney poem ‘Bye Child’ and the story of Kevin Halfpenny, one of the most bizarre cases of child cruelty ever recorded. This is mirrored in the EP title and cover art, with broken backbones becoming broken wings. The title itself also references Emily Dickinson’s “’Hope’ is the thing with feathers” poem.

Having recently graduated from Liverpool’s Institute of Performing Arts, the young group caught the eyes of key players in the UK press (Prog magazine, Kerrang! Magazine, Kerrang! Radio, Classic Rock Magazine) as well as placing high in the Prog Readers' Poll and picking up two Prog Award nominations – all prior to their debut EP release.

Among other early achievements, Exploring Birdsong were hand-picked to support Sleep Token (on their much-anticipated debut headline performance and subsequent debut headline tour), have toured with proggers Godsticks, and delivered stellar performances at HRH Prog and Winter’s End festivals. Exploring Birdsong have also supported Thank You Scientist across the UK and have recently signed with NMC Live, AMF Publishing, and Wild Thing Presents.

Lynsey recently duetted with Caligula's Horse's Jim Grey on their most recent critically acclaimed record Rise Radiant, for the bonus track, a cover of Peter Gabriel’s 'Don't Give Up'. Listen here.

Unplaceable for the most part, Exploring Birdsong bring to mind elements of Steven Wilson, Kate Bush, Rush, Sleep Token, and Agent Fresco. A new release is scheduled for 2021, via the esteemed Long Branch Records, following the label's release of 2019's critically acclaimed debut EP The Thing With Feathers.

Swedish symphonic metal heavyweights TUNGSTEN release lyric video for 'Volfram's Song'
BandMid_02resize.jpg

Swedish symphonic metal quartet TUNGSTEN have released the lyric video of their track 'Volfram's Song', taken from their second album, Tundra (20th November, released via Arising Empire).

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/Va0IHMB-P5w

Order Tundra here: https://Tungsten.lnk.to/tundra

Following the success of their debut LP We Will Rise (September 2019), TUNGSTEN continue their fine vein of form with Tundra – epic, catchy, dark metal.

The band were formed in 2016 by famed ex-HAMMERFALL, MANOWAR, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN'S RISING FORCE drummer Anders Johannsson with his sons Karl and Nick Johansson. Soon after Mike Andersson was added as vocalist and the band began recording We Will Rise.

Now on to Tundra, which, in the words of Karl demonstrates that: “The diversity is still definitely there just like on the first album. But this time around to quote my dad’s boss from the 80s ‘MORE IS MORE’!”

The lyrics on Tundra are predominantly about time, and centred on the stories of Volfram, the guardian of time and balance, and the character who adorns the album cover. Volfram travels from a past world, filled with the glory of castles, fairies and knights, to a future desolate city, where he ends up in the middle of an icy tundra, alone.

The recording of Tundra started in late 2019 with drums at Der Bunker followed by bass, guitar, growls and keyboard recordings at Harm Studios. Final vocal recordings were completed in February 2020.

TUNGSTEN enlisted famed keyboard player, and drummer Anders’ brother, Jens Johansson (Rainbow, Stratovarius) to record a solo on the track ‘Here Comes the Fall’. This marks the first time where Anders, Jens, Nick, and Karl Johansson have all appeared on a record together.

TUNGSTEN have already been confirmed for Sabaton Open Air 2021.

TUNGSTEN are:
Mike Andersson | Vocals
Karl Johansson | Bass & Screams
Nick Johansson | Guitar
Anders Johansson | Drums

UK rockers CHEAP MEAT return with news of debut LP, stream new single
CHEAP MEAT_0633.jpg

London trio CHEAP MEAT are back, announcing their debut full-length record People Are The Worst, to be released 29th January via Jerk Store Records.

The band have also streamed their new single, 'Marigold Moon'. Premiered via Distorted Sound, you can hear the track here: https://ffm.to/p76bgop.ois

Pre-order the record here:

Bandcamp:
https://cheapmeat.bandcamp.com/

IndieGogo:
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/cheap-meat-people-are-the-worst-lp-launch

The group - Ross Drummond (vocals and guitar), Matt Rebeiro (drums) and Peter Hakola (bass and vocals) - formed at a chance meeting at a pub quiz hosted by ex-Coronation Street star Martin Hancock, almost certainly the only band in the world to have this claim to fame.

Cheap Meat had already kicked up a fuss with their hook-filled, guitar-heavy The Parts That Show EP and subsequent single 'Spin-Offs'. Some years on they now return with People Are The Worst, an LP which has been created despite significant setbacks.

The theme of the record is misanthrope; the story, DIY.

People Are The Worst was mostly written during a time of significant sociopolitical unrest – Brexit debates at their peak, Trump being, well, Trump, and culture wars on left and right of increasing hysteria. The band's refrain became the title of the LP.

The specific context and themes of the record are rooted in the day-to-day unpleasantness the band found themselves involved in – which is captured in the album artwork, a series of microaggressions all claustrophobically close together in a high-rise apartment block.

It’s taken a long time for CHEAP MEAT to get their heads around releasing People Are The Worst. In the span between the EP release and now, Matt’s had two kids, Pete was diagnosed with manic depression/bi-polar disorder, and Ross was diagnosed with high-functioning depression and anxiety. Safe to say the group have been through the ringer: emotionally, physically and creatively.

Despite the challenges, People Are The Worst is the record the band wanted to make, on their own terms, and is released on their own label, Jerk Store Records.

Despite too, People being The Worst, some are the best – not least the crew of friends and creative contacts CHEAP MEAT relied on to make their record.

There are plenty of moments of light and love throughout the LP. Musically, as a counterpoint to the bleakest lyrical moments, the album delivers a sonically upbeat palette, delivering poppy hooks and air-guitar-euphoria. Clocking in at only 30 minutes or so, People Are The Worst is here for a good time, not a long time.

CHEAP MEAT have previously received acclaim from Kerrang!, Rock Sound and Upset, and supported Bob Mould, Frank Iero, Tellison, Lonely The Brave, We Are The Ocean, and have performed at 2000 Trees and The Great Escape festivals, among others.
