Mexican industrial darkwave duo EGGVN release new single 'N.B.O.' on album release day
unnamed - 2021-05-14T134113.683.jpg

Mexican darkwave duo EGGVN have released their new single 'N.B.O.' (New Black Order), taken from new album La Era de la Bestia, out today via Out Of Line Music.

Watch the video for 'N. B. O.' here: https://youtu.be/083afyv4RpQ

Purchase the album here: https://eggvn.lnk.to/LaEradelaBestia

The new video/single track 'N.B.O.' reveals EGGVN's mission: “taking Industrial and Industrial Metal to a next step; we love the classic industrial, but we believe that it is time to take it to another level. 'N.B.O' clearly illustrates the sound that the industrial of the future has, anyone who reads this will remember it, in a few years the industrial bands will be sounding just like this track, for that's because EGGVN are the Black Fathers of The New Black Order. No god, no idols, no limits!”.

EGGVN (named after the cult of the dead) fully demonstrate with their mesmeric sound how fragile our concept of 'reality' is. The new track conceptually deals with the obscure celebration of a war ritual: “in which the coming is announced, conquers, submits the enemy, and then the victory is glorified over the conquered land“, explain EGGVN.

La Era de la Bestia will decisively define dark electronic dance with EGGVN's satanic, ritualistic hard industrial wave.

EGGVN's new album La Era de la Bestia is available on all digital music platforms, you can listen to it here: https://eggvn.lnk.to/LaEradelaBestia

Watch the video for previous single 'Lvcifer Ex Machina' here: https://youtu.be/F7y3cN-gOO4

Forming in 2019, the duo have already showed what power and incredible presence exists within them and their music. Despite all their electronic subtleties, La Era de la Bestia has inherent originality that EGGVN carry on like the proud heirs of the Aztecs. Just as the band's forebears once combined their mystical mathematical knowledge with their animalistic rawness, EGGVN also see it as their task to carry on the “light of knowledge” – as the artists themselves emphasize – like a Lucifer on the dancefloor, with fervent brutality.

Evoking an ineffable blend of the savagery of Combichrist, the infectious beats of Front Line Assembly, and the positive aggression of Hocico, EGGVN are a new act fully demanding your attention.

Forgetting The Memories announce album details and release new single
Forgetting The Memories - Promo 1 - (credit Sebastian Gameel).jpg

Swedish metalcore five-piece Forgetting The Memories have announced their new album Vemod, out 24th September 2021 via Long Branch Records. The band have also released new single 'The Solstice Rebirth'.

Watch the video for 'The Solstice Rebirth' here:
https://youtu.be/TIgNcWZE1LA

Vemod is the second LP by the band and has been mixed and mastered by Buster Odeholm (Vildhjarta, Humanity's Last Breath). The 10 new tracks are lyrically haunting and deal with personal setbacks, world-weariness, anger and melancholy or wistfulness (= "Vemod" in Swedish).

Listen to 'The Solstice Rebirth' and pre-order the new album 'Vemod' here:
http://smarturl.it/ftm_vemod

Forgetting The Memories commented the new single "This song is about manipulative behaviour that occurs more often than it should. We try to put ourselves in the perspective where you are being manipulated into doing things for others' cause. With that, you'll live in that mindset until the darkness has swallowed you whole. You'll become self-destructive and dangerous to others but mostly to yourself."

Forgetting the Memories combine intricate, headbangable rhythms with melodic choruses that will have you singing along in no time, constructing a unique blend of deathcore and metalcore that is unparalleled in complexity and intensity.

Monophobia, their first self-released full-length in 2016, was a sprawling labyrinth of ferocious, hard-pounding breakdowns and catchy choruses, peppered with meaningful lyrics detailing deeply personal journeys through issues like battling cancer, losing a friend, and heartbreak. The band continued on this path on their first release with their new label Long Branch Records. The EP Known Darkness was released in 2019 and featured six songs, further confirming the band's rapid growth and potential.

Now Vemod, the second LP from the five Swedes, is a clear further development of the already known trademarks of the band and thus comes across even more intense than its predecessors. The 10 tracks on the new album, which was mixed and mastered by Buster Odeholm (Vildhjarta, Humanity's Last Breath), are lyrically haunting and deal with personal setbacks, world-weariness, anger and melancholy or wistfulness (= "Vemod" in Swedish).

Over the years, Forgetting The Memories have remained true to their particular style, yet have constantly evolved and defined themselves as a truly essential force within the genre.

Venues release video for new single 'Uncaged Birds'
VENUES 2021 Credit Venera Red.jpg

German modern metal outfit Venues have released a video for their striking new single 'Uncaged Birds'. The track is the third single from their forthcoming album Solace, due for release on 27th August 2021 via Arising Empire.

Once again, Venues worked with videographer Marius Milinski to create the music video for 'Uncaged Birds', continuing the story that began in previous singles 'Rite Of Passage' and 'Shifting Colors'.

Check out the video for 'Uncaged Birds' here: https://youtu.be/F1Unf6bC2e8

Vocalist Robin says:

"'Uncaged Birds' is a very special single for me as it is the first song that we wrote and recorded with our new members, Lela and Valentin. It was our internal proof that our new set-up works perfectly and just makes it more fun than ever before! Thematically, the track is about an unhappy relationship, from which one is crushed and narrowed until one finally breaks out of it."

Pre-order Solace in various formats here: https://Venues.lnk.to/solace

From the depths of their deepest crisis, Venues emerge victoriously, welcoming two new members - clean vocalist Lela and guitarist Valentin. When former vocalist Nyves quit the band mid-tour, following the release of their pivotal debut Aspire (2019), the modern metal juggernaut was shaken to the bone.

Despite this, the remaining members refused to give up and tirelessly searched for new talent. Following guitarist Constantin witnessing a performance of Lela at (of all places) at a Steel Panther show, the band found their new clean vocalist.

Venues went into the studio with producer Christoph Wieczorek (Annisokay) to record Solace, who coated their massive sound with a metallic alloy of remarkable precision.

“We wanted to be more metal,” Robin comments. “There were some pop sensibilities of Aspire we wanted to replace with rather the opposite.”

Melody and punch-drunk heaviness, metal and alternative rock, zeitgeist and authenticity, barbed choruses and unleashed creativity: with their soaring sophomore release, Venues fulfil every single promise they gave on Aspire.

“2020 showed all of us how much the band is helping us keep our sanity,” guitarist Robin muses. “Almost the whole band went through minor or medium crises since the release of our debut. Relationships went sour, things were ended and begun. In times like these, our second album was the light at the end of the tunnel. Something we all could look forward to. Our music held our heads above water.”

It’s a big leap, going from Aspire to Solace, and it’s a logical one, too. Ten songs, ten exorcisms of negative energy, ten lifesavers.

New York City-based collective VRSTY (pronounced "Varsity") - Joey Varela [vocals], Javy Dorrejo [bass], Chris Cody [drums], and Paul Gregory [guitar] - have released their cover of Lil Nas X's groundbreaking smash hit 'Montero (Call Me By Your Name)'.

Stream/purchase VRSTY's cover of 'Montero (Call Me By Your Name)' here: https://vrsty.lnk.to/MONTEROcallmebyyourname

"I remember hearing 'Montero (Call Me By Your Name)' for the first time and instantly thinking, this song is perfect," says Varela. "I made it a fun little challenge to try to cover it and keep it as close to the original as possible, but to also add my own spin on it. It ended up being really fun and now I'm left trying to figure out how I can get a stripper pole in my apartment that will take me to hell."

VRSTY's EP Cloud City is out now via Spinefarm Records and has tallied two million streams since its December release. The band (and EP) cross-pollinate metallic grooves with R&B vocal swagger on 'Shameless' and 'Massive', the latter of which was the most played on SiriusXM's Octane for two weeks in a row in late 2020. VRSTY also participated in the Octane Accelerator home concert series.

VRSTY are hard at work on their new album - their first for Spinefarm.

Check out the video for 'Meant To Live' here: https://youtu.be/2u-HyHM2SiE

The band comment:

"'Meant to Live' is the mental empowerment, the kick-start song to take up the fight against our burdens and depressions. We cannot wait to feel the energy of this song on stage and connect with our audience."

Stream/purchase 'Meant To Live' here: https://orcd.co/risinginsane_meanttolive

Rising Insane quickly gained attention in the German metal scene after self-releasing their debut album Nation in 2017, supporting the likes of Stray From The Path and For Today, as well as touring alongside Annisokay in 2018. Their rise continued in 2019, where they performed at Impericon Festival and signed to Long Branch Records. Later that year, the five-piece released their album Porcelain, with rave reviews across the globe which accelerated the band into international focus. They followed with a well-received cover of The Weeknd's 'Blinding Lights', which spread their name even further. Rising Insane's debut headline run in 2020 was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however they used the time to record their Recovered EP, which featured additional cover songs.

Now, Rising Insane are back with new music and ready to elevate to a higher plane. Whilst staying true to their post-hardcore and metalcore roots, they have grown both as a band and individual musicians, evident on their new single which offers a more mature sound.

Aaron Steineker - Vocals
Ulf Hedenkamp - Bass
Sven Polizuk - Guitar

Osiah release new music video 'The Ominous Mind (Jaded Inside)'; reveal tour details
unnamed - 2021-05-13T153619.829.jpg

Undoubtably one of the UK's most ferociously dark bands, Osiah, have released a soul-stirring new music video for their album track 'The Ominous Mind (Jaded Inside)'.

Taken from their album Loss, which was recently released on 7th May to worldwide critical acclaim via Unique Leader Records, you can now experience the video here: https://youtu.be/Zvm8aAcNkhA

Pick up their stunning new album Loss: https://orcd.co/loss

Following on from singles 'Temporal Punishment' and 'The Eye of the Swarm (feat. Ben Duerr)', 'The Ominous Mind (Jaded Inside)' is another striking declaration of resolve from one of the hardest working bands on the circuit, showcasing their more sombre side whilst firmly establishing their prominence at the top of the new breed of deathcore hierarchy.

Speaking of their newest video Osiah shared: "The Ominous Mind (Jaded Inside) is our third single, representing the more melodic and groove elements of Osiah, and also showcasing some of Ricky’s most pain fuelled lyrics that dominate this release."

Vocalist Ricky Roper added: "It’s one of the most pained tracks on the record; recording it was an experience I’ll never forget. During the end section I was literally screaming my pain out, I don’t think I’ve ever been as low as I was at that point of recording, and the melodic section that guitarist Andy Mallaby provided really brought it out of me. I can still hear it when I listen back and it serves as a reminder of where I’ve clawed my way back from."

Hailing from the extreme metal wastelands of Northern England, Osiah have continued to make a name for themselves and the British metal scene, transcending the deathcore label with their trademark hideous, grisly, torturous barrage of filth.

Pummelling breakdowns and acerbic deathly chops scream classic Osiah, whilst jarringly downtuned guitars, surprising tempo changes and preternatural vocals all bringing to the fore one of the UK’s heaviest sounds on record. It is this commendably mature approach that elevate Osiah to the realm of heavyweight, alongside genre-pushing greats Fit For An Autopsy and Enterprise Earth. Special guest features from Jason Evans (Ingested vocalist) and Ben Duerr (Shadow of Intent vocalist) only serve to highlight the band’s status further.

Having toured with Cattle Decapitation, The Faceless, and Distant, and cutting their teeth on the underground circuit, Osiah continue to make a name for themselves – fully matched with their home on Unique Leader Records, the world’s heaviest label.

Colorado prog trio Source release atmospheric new single
unnamed - 2021-05-13T143105.713.jpg

Colorado USA progressive rock three-piece Source return with second single 'The Insipidness', taken from their third album Ethereal Self, set for release on 25th May.

Featuring a tabla performance by Nabin Shrestha, stream the visualiser for 'The Insipidness' here: https://youtu.be/fMKfh2vBnMk

Vocalist / guitarist Ben Gleason comments on the single: "'The Insipidness' is about getting so lost in the writing process that everything sounds the same. Since our debut record in 2016 there have been constant comparisons to the bands that influence us. This song is about recognizing that our expression is as unique as our fingerprints. It is a celebration of the writing process in which the digestion of influences is essential, and it is about accepting boredom as the foundation of something truly novel."

On the new album Ethereal Self, he continues: "This album is about forming unity between our physical and cosmic, or ethereal selves. It is an exploration of mind and matter inviting all who listen to search for a deeper sense of truth in their lives. We recorded, engineered, mixed and produced this album entirely ourselves in our studio on a mountain in Colorado, 8500 feet above sea level. We believe the magic of the surroundings is captured in the recordings and we hope you feel it too."

Formed in 2013 in Boulder Colorado, Source create consciousness-based music through the exploration of flotation tanks, philosophy, meditation, yoga, and other embodiment and mindfulness practices. Their music is an expression of the sensations experienced on this planet, the profoundness of the human experience and the beauty of all that is.

Entwining intelligent composition with melody at the core, you can hear a wide range of influences including Tool, Opeth and Chevelle.

Their debut album Return To Nothing was released in September 2016 on Pavement Entertainment and received a hugely positive response from music fans and press. Accolades included being named Metal Nexus' #1 best album of 2016 and heavy Music HQ's #9 best progressive metal album of 2016, and their video for single 'Memories of Yesterday' was supported by Axs TV, promo only, club com network and many more.

The success of the record earned them opening slots on tours with Hellyeah, In Flames and From Ashes to New, firmly establishing them in the US rock scene. 2019 saw the band release their stunning second album Totality, which achieved top reviews with Angry Metal Guy claiming "we could be witnessing the birth of the next great progressive metal band".

Heavy prog band Boss Keloid release heartfelt new single 'Smiling Thrush'
unnamed - 2021-05-13T131816.013.jpg

British heavy-prog band Boss Keloid have released their new single 'Smiling Thrush', a touching tribute that details the memory and pain of losing a parent. It's the second track to be released from their new album, Family The Smiling Thrush, out 4th June via Ripple Music.

Premiered via Prog Magazine, you can check out the new single 'Smiling Thrush' here: https://youtu.be/QnT1G4fvtdw

Pre-order the album here:
WW: https://ripplemusic.bandcamp.com/album/family-the-smiling-thrush

UK/EU CD - https://www.plastichead.com/item.aspx?catno=RIPCD158

'Smiling Thrush' sees Boss Keloid once again unafraid to tackle big life subjects, such as the death of a parent, and turn them into songs of soaring majesty and hope. Written by guitarist Paul Swarbrick as a catharsis for his own grief after his father passed away last year, the track gives an uplifting insight into the relationship they treasured. Throughout the changing kaleidoscopic mood of the music which represent the stages of that journey through grief, it’s the aural equivalent of someone putting their arms around you and saying it’ll be okay.

Commenting on the single Paul says: "My father passed away suddenly last year. I'm very grateful to Alex and the chaps for giving me the opportunity to write the lyrics and dedicate the song to him. It has been the most challenging period of my life since his death, having to deal with previously unknown levels of grief, insecurity, confusion and anxiety. However, going through this period and process of writing the lyrics enabled me more than ever to reflect, be inspired and be extremely grateful of the relationship and bond I had with my father."

Family The Smiling Thrush is perhaps Boss Keloid's most ambitious album yet and demonstrates their biggest transformation to date. Entering a new realm which leans more towards the grandeur of monumental prog-rock whilst still embracing their metal edge, the album is a true masterclass in versatility. Seven towering tracks of emotional energy, psychedelic grooves and riff-oriented guitar work combine with the signature melodic yet passionate style that vocalist Alex Hurst has been tweaking and perfecting since their debut, Angular Beef Lesson, in 2010.

Produced and mastered by Chris Fielding at the legendary Foel Studios in Wales, the band entered the studio with a focus on gaining a clearer, more open sounding recording than ever before. The end result is a typically Boss Keloid gargantuan soundscape, littered with spacious jams and sticky grooves which twist and turn in euphonic harmony. Family The Smiling Thrush is their most attention-grabbing effort to date and only further cements their status as one of this era's most interesting and vital bands.

Lyrically throughout Family The Smiling Thrush Boss Keloid explore the notion of the collective being greater than the individual, embracing all flaws and the strengths of each. Each song burrows deeply into areas such as community, communication, family, personal growth, mindfulness and positive inner reflection, inviting the listener to not only join but truly revel in the journey of being alive.

By continuing to experiment and incorporate new elements into their sound, Boss Keloid are a band driven by a burning need to move forward. Beginning with 2010’s Angular Beef Lesson and 2013’s Calming Influence Of Teeth, Boss Keloid made ripples in the stoner doom underground with their magnificently multi-layered music. In 2016 they gained worldwide critical acclaim with Herb Your Enthusiasm and their last album Melted On The Inch was released by Holy Roar Records in 2018 to worldwide critical acclaim from the music press, garnering significant support from Metal Hammer UK, Kerrang!, Prog Magazine, BBC Radio 1, The Guardian, Fuze Mag (DE), Rock Hard Mag (DE), MetalSucks, Metal Injection and many more. Total Guitar included guitarist Paul Swarbrick in their ‘best new guitarists in the world today’ feature and their previous albums having graced countless albums of the year lists, multiple times over.
