London-based experimental/noise rock band TAYNE have revealed their new single 'Corrupt', to celebrate the release of their brand new EP Coherent, out today (2nd July 2021) via Armalyte Industries. For fans of HEALTH, Code Orange, Nine Inch Nails and Author & Punisher, the EP features new material and two remixes, by JESU and Poisonous Birds.
Check out 'Corrupt' here: https://youtu.be/cekylX_wYpQ
The band comment on their new single:
"This is the most 'jam band' sounding track we’ve ever written, it’s one big arch and is the first time we have come together as a band to contribute equally to a track. Themes deal with exhaustion of failure and lack of willingness to better situations."
Stream/purchase the Coherent EP here: https://linktr.ee/Tayneband
TAYNE's concept originated as a satire on contemporary pop music. With heavier music seeping into the mainstream, TAYNE was formed to try and test the limits of "pop music" ideologies. Heavy, industrial soundscapes serve as a juxtaposition alongside calculated, overproduced sounds and vocals with the classic verse-chorus-verse pop structures.
TAYNE’s music has been described as an aural assault, welding atmospheric vocals, punishing guitars and pulsating electronics to create immersive and intense sounds. The band released their album BREATHE in 2018, with themes exploring self-doubt and insecurities. Since then, TAYNE have gone on to share the stage with the likes of HEALTH and Acid Mothers Temple.
The band's new material was recorded and produced with Wayne Adams of PETBRICK / BIG LAD in his studio in London.

2021 marks 10 years since the release of We Are The Ocean's brilliant second album, Go Now And Live. Celebrating the occasion, Go Now And Live had its first ever vinyl release on 30th April via Hassle Records.
After instantly selling out, a second pressing has now been announced. Limited to just 500 copies, the second press is a turquoise marble colourway, in a hand-numbered sleeve, and will be released 6th August.
Vocalist/guitarist Liam Cromby has also recorded an acoustic version of fan favourite 'Now & Then'.
Pre-order Go Now And Live and stream here 'Now & Then' here: https://smarturl.it/WATO_NowAndThen
Featuring long-term fan favourites 'The Waiting Room', 'What It Feels Like' and 'Now & Then', the LP also includes the rare bonus track 'Distances'.
Vocalist/guitarist Liam Cromby has taken this opportunity to look back at the album's initial release, and subsequent impact:
"Before beginning to write Go Now And Live, we had just released a 4 track EP with some of our most melodic songs so far, 'Lucky Ones' and 'Playing My Heart'. We had also been on the road with bands like Funeral For A Friend, People in Planes, Mayday Parade, Canterbury, Straight Lines - bands that had big, melodic anthems. We also had a new touring crew with us at the time, which brought new music to our ears, listening to bands like The Draft and Hot Water Music. We were also listening to The Police and The Beatles a lot at the time. Inspired and hungry to grow as a band, we fearlessly set out to write our most melodic material so far. Not only were we set on writing big anthems, but we had also matured individually and collectively, and felt the need to write more direct and honest lyrics.
"We were on the road endlessly at the time and so had to take whatever writing opportunities whenever, and wherever, we could . 'What It Feels Like' was the first idea to come through - a song written as a conversation with myself. 'Runaway' was written in the front room of our tour manager's house in Leeds (we stayed there a lot during this time). With Leeds being the home of Slam Dunk, bands from the scene were coming through all the time, most of them staying at this house. We were in the thick of it!
'"Trouble Is Temporary, Time Is Tonic' came a week before heading to the studio. With the material we had so far we knew we had to have a strong opener that would match with the rest of the record, and so came the opening line "I would like to say some things and get them off my chest". We decided to record at Middle Farm Studios; tucked away from the world in the hills of Devonshire, it was a new studio run by producer Peter Miles. Pete had come to a show some months before, where we had an opportunity to chat and share ideas for the upcoming record. It was there that we decided to record with him, and so in the middle of December, snowed in, we began to record our second album, GNAL. Pete is a musical genius, whom I respected greatly, and studied from the get-go. During the recording process we still had a couple of songs to write, and subsequently it was in the studio that both 'Now and Then' and 'The Waiting Room' came to life. The latter would be an expression of the frustrations of a young man wanting to reach great heights.
Hassle had backed us and put faith in us to write and record a follow up to 'Cutting Our Teeth'. During the first playback session the songs were blasting through the Hassle office speakers; those guys were as happy as we were at how well the songs had come together in the studio. They were excited and the band was buzzing... we couldn't wait to release the album!
"It would catapult the band into Radio 1 playlists. I'll never forget hearing our songs on Radio 1, it was like the scene from the movie "That thing you do." . It also bagged us a spot on the main stage at Reading and Leeds festivals. An absolute dream come true!
"Recording Go Now And Live at Middle Farm Studios is one of my fondest memories, and set us up for the band's most successful years. Forever thankful for Pete Miles, Hassle Records and my bandmates, Dan Brown, Jack Spence, Tommy Moosh and Alfie Scully."
Hassle Records' label boss Wez also took the time to look back at the album's initial release:
“We went into the second We Are The Ocean album excited and nervous at the same time. The first album Cutting Our Teeth was (is!) great. Really good songs from a young band literally cutting their teeth.
"We met with the band at their rehearsal space in Essex a couple of times during the writing process to go through demos and make suggestions about what parts of songs worked well, what worked OK, and what didn’t. The guys in the band were always good at listening and taking onboard what we hoped were constructive thoughts.
"The debut album had done well. The band were on the rise in their scene. It sold well, but it didn’t really make a mark outside of specialist radio and press. The potential tunes we heard on the demos for the second record were a massive step up. It’s what you hope to see in a band; progress and growth.
"Peter Miles produced the album at his excellent Middle Farm studios and a visit to the studio proved to be as satisfying as we hoped. The songs were excellent.
"We collectively decided to put 'Trouble Is Temporary, Time Is Tonic' right at the top of the record as a statement of intent. A hard-hitting song with bollocks and melody, which was the perfect statement for what was to come on rest of the album. And the songs just keep on coming. From first single of the campaign 'What It Feels Like', to the excellent 'The Waiting Room' and onto the classic 'Now & Then'. We felt the band had delivered an amazing album. And Radio 1 in the UK agreed, as they playlisted three of the tracks from the album. Everyone's hard work was starting to pay off.”

Formed by ex-Hang The Bastard bassist Joe Nally and guitarist Angus Neyra after their former band called it quits, the pair already had a reputation for big, heavy riffs. Getting drummer Richard Harris on board in 2018, they gilded their new outfit with debut EP The Mountain Of Gold, which immediately marked Urne out as a formidable new metallic force.
Now, they return with debut album Serpent & Spirit. Heavier, wider and with an even higher ratio of killer riffs than the EP, it also comes with a weighty concept based around the central character’s struggle as he’s pulled between good and evil, darkness and light.
There is no single way that Urne describe their sound, it all comes back to one thing: heavy. There are shades of Metallica, Mastodon, Alice In Chains in there, hopping between sludge, tech-metal, doom, hardcore and anything else with a weighty heart.

New Parisian industrial metalcore quintet Glassbone have unveiled their powerful new single 'Misery', along with an intense music video.

'Misery' perfectly showcases Glassbone's chaotic and glitchy style - a metallic mix of hardcore conviction, numetal feel and industrial overtones.
The band comment: "'Misery' is born from the tortured vision of a lunatic prisoner of his own existence. It's a pessimistic look at the modern world, how it affects the human race by breeding the self-hatred and leading to a total dehumanisation to make profits. It describes an eternal restart of an under pressure life until the ultimate deliverance."
The band have also announced an extensive UK/EU tour supporting French heavyweights Landmvrks and fellow newcomers Resolve.
The band continue: "We’re very pleased to join what is, for us, one of the most exciting European metalcore tours. We love how all the bands execute a different vision of the genre, and we’re so happy to be part of this great line up for our first tour!"

Face The Legacy, the Finnish rock quartet, have signed with Out Of Line Music and released their new single 'Ashes on the Ground'.
Stream 'Ashes on the Ground' here: https://facethelegacy.lnk.to/AshesontheGround
And watch the video here: https://youtu.be/-OCcWfTd34o
The band comment: "We are pleased to announce that we have signed a worldwide record deal, which has always been a goal of ours since the beginning. First of all, as a band, we are excited to do our first record with Out Of Line, and we are happy that they believe in us. Co-operation with Out Of Line has been really good, and we are also really looking forward to the future with them."
Lead singer Niklas Lindeman comments on the first single, 'Ashes on the Ground': "As the writer of the song lyrics, I wanted to show a way for you to question maybe the ongoing problems in the world - the ethical side in particular. The song came together quite naturally, and we knew straight away that we had something great in our hands. 'Ashes on the Ground' also gave a straightforward direction to the whole album."
Guitarist Elias Suhonen gives an insight into the sound of the upcoming debut album: "We'd say it creates a dark, angry and inspirational atmosphere. Themes for the songs come from very personal experiences, from issues we've faced and that we wanted to make a difference in," adds Niklas.
"As of now, with the signing to Out Of Line, the band means everything to us. We want to show that we're putting our maximum effort when it comes to writing music, evolving as musicians, and of course as a band," confirms Niklas. And Elias agrees: "To me, this band is that I can make the music I love. Our music is a nice blend of the music I listen to in my everyday life. Signing a record deal has been on my bucket list since I found rock music as a kid, and that's what makes me work hard for my dreams. I also totally agree with Niklas. This band means everything to me!"
Bass player Aleksanteri Skaniakos defines the search for the location for the video shooting set: "We shot the playing sections of our music video at Tanssisali Lutakko, our local legendary venue. We're thankful for the staff there for letting us film the video there and being as helpful as ever. The story parts were filmed by our cameraman Teemu Myöhänen from KarmaMedia in Southern Finland, the Capital area. He scripted the video, and we really liked his ideas, for example, setting the man on fire for the solo section of the song."
Each band member brings particular effort to their music from various musical backgrounds to create Face The Legacy. There are many influences from many genres in their music: elements of '80s hard rock and '90s grunge, and also '90s and present-day rock music. Face The Legacy have been touring since 2017, including shows before even releasing any music. The band have already played around 60 gigs, a couple of Finnish tours, including performances from Helsinki to the North of Lapland, all entirely DIY.
From Jyväskylä, Finland, Face The Legacy started as a hard rock band. Over the years, the band developed into a mix of heavier riffing with melodic leads - inspired from the '80s and '90s, showing their way of writing and performing. The band is already known in their home country for their energetic live performance, hard-punching innovative riffs, and their very memorable melodies which will get stuck in your head for a long time - yet always sounding new and fresh.

Out Of Line Music are pleased to announce their signing of one of Finland's freshest acts, Detset. To celebrate, the band have release a video for their brand new single 'Graves'.
Check out the video for 'Graves' here: https://youtu.be/9nPSaTR6o58
Stream/purchase 'Graves' here: https://detset.lnk.to/Graves
'Graves' explores vocalist Sami Silvennoinen's two sides, the dark shadow that follows him through life and the struggle of his other half to keep it hidden. For Sami, the most unusual thing about Detset is that there are no boundaries: "we can evolve with this band in any direction we want to go. Also, it is great to write lyrics that are a little edgy, but there is always a reason behind the words.
"Detset means to me expression without any censorship. It tells about my personal struggles in a little twisted way, but those struggles are hidden inside those words. Detset also means brotherhood to me. As I said before, there have been ups and downs, but those things bring us closer," he concludes.
Sami discusses the new single:
"I was at the crossroads with my life, so 'Graves' lyrics came from that dark place. Deeper meaning of the song is that we only have a certain amount of grains of sand in our hourglass. You can repeat your mistakes as many times you like to. Your heart can be broken hundreds of times, but you can't do anything about your past. All we have is the present. So let your mind be shattered, heartbroken, but don't try to push those things away because the shadow will follow, and every invisible scar is attached to it. We have one life and one grave so embrace every scar you have. Everything happens for a reason."
Primarily filmed in a gravel pit, the video was shot and produced by the band, showcasing their sheer hard work and creativity. "Our drummer Janne Putkisaari had the idea for this song. The body bag shots were filmed at my place," adds Sami, who also created the body in the video. "It was pretty funny to walk on the streets, in the middle of the day, carrying a body. It was also a very hot day when we filmed, so my body couldn't sweat properly when we painted my body black."
The frontman adds about the signing to Out Of Line Music: "There are lots of things going on right now. There are many live shows to come, and we are very excited about them. We hope that the current situation will be solved before those shows to enjoy live music safely. I can't tell you everything yet, but many great things are happening with Detset. We are also very thrilled to be part of the Out Of Line family, and this deal is the next big step for Detset."
Detset are yet to release their debut album but have already achieved an impressive amount, including appearances at Finnish festivals and performing massive support shows.
Stay tuned for the band's next single 'So Offended', due for release on 30th July 2021.
Detset are announcing themselves to the world. We suggest you listen.

US modern deathcore heavyweights Signs Of The Swarm have unveiled new single / video 'Totem' and announced the release of forthcoming album, Absolvere, out 24th September 2021 via Unique Leader.
Watch the video to 'Totem' here: https://youtu.be/PqRdo9d67Io
Pre-order/save Absolvere here: https://orcd.co/absolvere
'Totem' concisely showcases Signs Of The Swarm's talent for inventive brutality and infectious hooks, and serves as the perfect taster for Absolvere.
Drummer / producer Bobby Crow comments: "‘Totem’ is a solid cross section of what to expect from Absolvere. Crushing riffs collide with insane drumming, all layered underneath explosive yet memorable vocals. We turned Dave (vocals) up in the mix, yet it doesn’t take away from the musicality at all; it complements it. Oh yeah, and this is far from the heaviest track on the album, so get ready.”
On the video, vocalist David Simonich continues: “I’m incredibly proud not only of the music and lyrics but also the video we did with Eric DiCarlo of SquareUp Studios. I get super involved with the visual aspect of our videos. In this case, I worked on the burning book, body paint and hands. The hands grasping at me is a metaphor for us being pulled in different directions. The book is a reference to the line ‘bled my blood in the pages,’ which highlights us pouring our life into the band. The fire symbolizes how difficult dedication to the band makes managing the rest of our life. We wouldn’t have it any other way, though.”
On fourth LP Absolvere, Signs of the Swarm are bleak without being blackened, smashing without being slam, and downtempo as a choice rather than a stylistic confine. They contrast that with some of the most brutal moments in their seven-year career, with riffs more punishing than pensive and a rhythm section that frames them in creatively cacophonic ways. Above it all, they’re utilising vocalist David Simonich's monstrous range in a much fuller capacity than on his debut, 2019’s Vital Deprivation. That transitional album found the band experimenting to re-find their footing. Though the addition of guitarist Jeff Russo could suggest growing pains, they sound more confident than ever with Simonich’s former Improvidence bandmate sliding right in.
Simonich roars about the real (loved ones struggling with addiction, submitting one’s self wholly to art despite negativity swirling about) and the surreal; he or his characters beg for the release of death only to be denied. The album's finishing touch is Ben Duerr (Shadow of Intent) and Alex Erian (Despised Icon) joining the band for guest vocals.
On the album, Bobby Crow continues: “Absolvere makes good on the musicality we were striving for on Vital Deprivation and combines it with the eerie atmosphere and brutality on our first two albums. We added a myriad of new sounds, techniques and vocal styles as we collectively composed each song from the ground-up.”
Proven as a major force on the stage, Signs of the Swarm have toured with the likes of Aborted, Lorna Shore, Shadow of Intent, Brand of Sacrifice, Ingested, Disentomb, Traitors and more. US and European tours soon to be announced, more news soon.

Quebecois tech-death masters First Fragment have unveiled new single 'Pantheum' and announced the release of new album, Gloire Eternelle, out 29th October 2021 via Unique Leader.
Watch the visualiser to 'Pantheum' here: https://youtu.be/IQdE96MQ65Y
Pre-save Gloire Eternelle here: https://orcd.co/gloireeternelle
From day one First Fragment sought to create a brand of extreme technical death metal that combined counterpoint-based riffing, neoclassical lead guitar work, power metal-inspired passages as well as flamenco & swing sections, with desire to establish their own unique voice.
Their critically-acclaimed 2016 debut album, Dasein, released through Unique Leader, was the culmination of almost 10 years of hard work and dedication to their craft. First Fragment have since perfected their sound through expanding upon their extensive musical influences, further blurring the line between flamenco-inspired technical death metal and neoclassical power metal.
The result is Gloire Éternelle, an ambitious conceptual album that is unmistakably First Fragment, yet at the same time, impossible to categorise and pigeonhole. Baroque-influenced guitar counterpoint, flamenco sections, unique slap-bass-driven swing grooves (which the band trademarked by name as "swingdowns"), face-ripping lead guitar work and bombastic drumming, combine with a highly aggressive dual vocal approach and lyrics soaked in abstract poetry (sung in French), to create the ultimate shred fest. A shred fest with soul, memorability, identity, purpose and conviction.
