Deeds Of Flesh announced for Hellfest 2022; unveil classic line-up
Deeds-of-Flesh-2021.jpg

Long-standing drummer Mike Hamilton returns; Jacoby Kingston returns to bass/vocals

New album Nucleus out now via Unique Leader Records

Technical death metal pioneers Deeds Of Flesh unveil a classic line-up, with the return of long-time drummer Mike Hamilton. Mike's drumming style has been a huge staple in shaping the band's sound and laying the blueprint for the future of technical death metal.

The band comment: "We want to thank Darren Cesca for all of his hard work on our most recent release, Nucleus. That album would not sound the way it does without his stamp on it. Darren is one of the most professional and skilled death metal drummers out there today and we guarantee you'll be seeing him continue to push the envelope for the genre and drumming as a whole. We're very proud to have Darren as a part of the Deeds legacy and wish him all the best and a future of success!"

This news follows the recent announcement that Deeds Of Flesh will return to the stage at next year's HellFest Open Air in Clisson, France.

The band continue: "Although we wish we could be hitting the stage with our brother Erik Lindmark, we feel going forward it would be best to retain the classic Deeds line-up as much as possible."

Jacoby Kingston will return to bass and vocal duties as he has done during his entire tenure with Deeds. Ivan Munguia will make the move from bass over to 2nd guitar, an easy transition given his recent guitar work live and in the studio with Continuum.

Going forward, Deeds of Flesh are:
Jacoby Kingston - Bass/Vocals
Craig Peters - Lead Guitar
Ivan Munguia - Guitar
Michael Hamilton - Drums

Mike Hamilton commented: "I am very excited to return to my rightful home as drummer of Deeds OF Flesh. I thought the opportunity of performing live with Deeds of Flesh would never present itself after the unfortunate passing of our brother Erik. I am honored and stoked to be reunited with my incredibly talented brothers Jacoby, Craig and Ivan and look forward to performing at Hellfest 2022 as well as writing new material for future releases!!!!!"

Jacoby commented: "Though I am saddened that Erik won't be with us, I feel honored to regain bass and vocal duties and am excited to be jamming once more! 2022 is going to be an amazing year for the band and we look forward to crushing skulls once again."

After a 14-year hiatus from playing live shows, Deeds Of Flesh are super excited to get back out there and play for the fans once again at HellFest 2022, so get ready.

Craig and Ivan are proud to announce that they are now endorsed by Ormsby Guitars. Craig and Ivan will be playing Ormsby's exclusively, both live and in the studio. Craig is currently playing an RC-One in a killer Orange Marblizer finish. Ivan is playing a DC GTR in Max Blak as well as a Metal X in a Red Dead finish. New album, Nucleus, is out now via Unique Leader and features guest performances from Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus, Gorguts and more, paying tribute to the band's late guitarist and founder, Erik Lindmark.

This follows previous singles 'Heir to None', 'Shroud' and the band's first single 'Wilt', which featured David Simonich from Signs Of The Swarm. Watch the 'Wilt' video here: https://youtu.be/hJ9HHX7bksI

Alongside their counterparts in Abigail Williams and Winds of Plague, TBP were the first out the gates in terms of bringing a symphonic, melody driven black metal influence into modern deathcore, setting the benchmark in 2008 with their genre melding debut In Waking : Divinity.

Fusing Unearth Oncoming Storm era style breakdowns with Dimmu Borgir flair reminiscent of Puritannical era, then adding the syncopated attack of the likes of Decapitated, TBP had unknowingly created a sound that would be imitated by many to come. TBP are the true originators of modern blackened deathcore and have returned to claim their crowns.

Their fourth album Labyrinthian is a majestic and nightmare fuelled journey deep into blackened death metal done how it's supposed to be. Featuring guest vocals from David John Simonich (Signs of the Swarm), Jamie Graham (Viscera) & a monumental mix and master from Dave Otero (Cattle Decapitation, Rivers of Nihil)

Jinjer's Wallflowers album hits the charts worldwide

Wallflowers out now via Napalm Records, purchase here

Additional dates for 2021 EU headline tour announced

Ukrainian modern metal giants Jinjer released Wallflowers, one of the most anticipated metal albums of the year on 27th August, and are already breaking the charts worldwide with the game-changing fourth offering.

The successor of their critically acclaimed third album Macro, Wallflowers is currently ranked at #7 on the German charts – marking their highest position in Germany so far – in addition to entering at #5 on the official UK Rock & Metal Album Charts. Plus, the band entered both the US Billboard Top New Artist Albums chart and Canada’s Hard Music Albums chart at #1, in addition to landing at #2 on the US Current Hard Music Albums chart and scoring several other top positions.

Wallflowers has also gone on to gather numerous top spots in several other international territories. See all chart entries of this modern metal manifestation below.

unnamed.jpg

Bassist Eugene Abdukhanov commented on the new album: “Growing creatively has always been a major goal for us. The day Jinjer stops reaching for new musical horizons will be our last day as a band. We could have churned out what our peers expected us to do, or produce ‘Pisces’ clones without end, but we’ve never done that and we never will. Instead, we wrote an album whose level of emotions range from the fiercest aggression we’ve ever had, to the most intricate melodies and melancholic vibes you could ever get from our music. We decided to rip apart all possible stylistic boundaries without regard to financial success or competing with our previous albums. Wallflowers is a different kind of album musically and visually. It’s about our identity as a band, as individuals and a clear statement that we are different from most artists… and that it is OK to do your own thing.”

“... one of the finest – and most important – metal releases of 2021." - Kerrang UK

"Simultaneously mesmeric and ear-splittingly apocalyptic" - Metal Hammer UK

"Jinjer position themselves as one of the most outspoken metal bands on the planet" - Distorted Sound UK

“With WALLFLOWERS, the Ukrainian band, who musically buzz around somewhere between metalcore, djent, groove and death metal, goes to the next level.” - Metal Hammer DE

"Jinjer present probably one of their most important albums" - metal.de DE

“Jinjer’s most aggressive and melancholy album to date” - Revolver US

“Wallflowers is a progressive masterpiece that further cements the fact that Jinjer are one of most exciting acts in the current metal scene.” - New Noise US

“Never mind the hype, Jinjer are obviously brilliant, and Wallflowers is an ambitious and creatively honest modern metal record that we can all believe in.” - Blabbermouth US

“This band continues to impress and they deserve all the praise that they can get.” - Banger TV US/CA

Since announcing Wallflowers, the band have graced numerous renowned international magazine covers, booked the biggest stories, sold out countless tour dates and their first two new singles, 'Vortex' and 'Mediator', both cracked the multi-million stream mark in no time. The new album not only presents a methodical and premeditated next step in the band's already imposing career, but moreover, it mirrors the personal adversities they’ve faced due to the worldwide events of the last year. Wallflowers is not only an upgrade to the progressive groove metal sound that all Jinjer fans crave, but also a sonic pressure cooker of technical musicianship, emotional fury and an intense soundtrack befitting the harrowing state of the world today. Hailing from the conflict-ridden Ukrainian region of Donetsk but now calling Kiev their home base, Jinjer truly do not mince words – or riffs – on Wallflowers.

Jinjer's exceptional precision of modern metal paired with tough as nails attitude has earned them a fiercely loyal, rabid fanbase and massive critical acclaim, making them one of the most talked about bands today and garnering them many sold out performances across the globe. Driven by their unmatched work ethic, as soon as they were able, Jinjer took to the road in Europe to perform safely and adhering to strict local regulations, providing diehard fans with a much needed oasis during lockdown. In early 2021, as society reached for a light at the end of the tunnel, the band moved forward, announcing plans for international fall 2021 headline tour dates that, within weeks of announcement, already began to sell out. In support of their masterful latest full-length album, Wallflowers, Jinjer have just announced additional dates for their EU tour, starting 16th September, supported by French metallers Hypno5e and Ukrainian Metalcore unit Space Of Variations.

ten56. release new single / video and announce debut EP
ten56 by Mathilde Miossec Resize.jpg

Fronted by Aaron Matts with members of Novelists FR, Kadinja, & Uneven Structure

'Sick Dog' streaming now; Downer Part.1 out 24th November via Out Of Line

New death / industrial / all-round brutal metal band ten56. fronted by Aaron Matts (ex Betraying the Martyrs) have unveiled their third single / video 'Sick Dog' and announced the release of debut EP Downer Part. 1 on 25th November via Out Of Line Music.

Vocalist Aaron Matts comments about the band’s debut EP and the decision to couple this new track with the announcement: "It was definitely a conscious decision to unravel and release the three singles in this order, just to show people that we’re not a one-trick pony."

He adds: "It’s honestly been the most enjoyable time I’ve personally had when writing and recording music. Downer Part.1 is a six-track, and it’s supposed to sound bloody horrible!"

The EP "Downer Part.1" offers an insight of what’s to follow from ten56. and proves that producing a steady flow of tracks represents the band at that moment, rather than sitting on a twelve-track for a couple of years. Plus "I have absolutely no patience generally speaking," Aaron laughs.

ten56. deliver a new level of uncomfortably heavy on their EP Downer Part.1 and unleash their gut-wrenching sound in six tracks that are sure to leave listeners in a state of despair. This is filth like you've never heard before.

On the formation of ten56. and upcoming plans, Aaron stated: "We've been working on this silently for over a year and have a lot of surprises all backed up and ready to go; I can confidently say that no matter what people's first impressions of our first single may be, they should not be hasty to form an opinion until they have heard the whole upcoming record, each single is going to be a shock to the system, that I am sure of! As for the guys in the band, it's been a help being in the game for over ten years, it started with Arnaud, then together we hand-picked from our close friends who we knew would be the perfect fit, and f*ck me we lucked out, everyone is so sick." ten56. is fronted by Aaron Matts with members of Novelists FR, Kadinja, and Uneven Structure.

Breathe Atlantis release video for new single 'Savior' featuring Eddie Berg of Imminence
Breathe Atlantis New 2021 Credit Kathi Sterl.jpg

German alternative metalcore band Breathe Atlantis have released their striking new single 'Savior' with stunning guest vocals from Eddie Berg of Imminence, his first ever vocal feature for another act.

Watch the video to 'Savior' here: https://youtu.be/6JKVB68kX_s

Stream here: https://breatheatlantis.lnk.to/savior

With 'Savior', the band's musical journey leads into harder realms and impressively proves that they are one of the most exciting acts in the German hard-and-heavy scene today. 'Savior' is a skillful mélange of profoundly sad pathos and raw bitterness about the fact of not being able to be the saviour that the world or oneself could gladly use.

Frontman Nico Schiesewitz commented: "It's always a war with yourself. 'Savior' deliberately has no happy ending because reality is just not a Hollywood movie. We all wish to be needed by others and to help others with their problems. But we must finally start to help ourselves first and accept our own struggles. Otherwise we will fall by the wayside in this selfish world."

On Eddie Berg's appearance, guitarist Jan Euler commented. "Eddie and I have a close friendship that goes beyond musical interests. He has family status; we talk on the phone regularly and visit each other from time to time. Making a song together was an incredible experience for all of us and broadened our creative horizons. The Swedish melancholy was just the right setting to process our emotions in the song."

Eddie Berg leads one of the hottest metalcore acts in the world right now - Imminence - who have just released three new critically acclaimed singles. Working with Breathe Atlantis was a totally new experience for him.

Eddie Berg commented: “Over the years, Jan has become one of my closest and dearest friends, so when asked it only felt right to work on this song together with him and the band. It brings up an important subject that a lot of us are struggling with; the difficulty of learning how to love ourselves in the first place, before we can help others. I think that Breathe Atlantis has come a long way in their song writing and vision and I’m excited on their behalf of what is to come.”

This follows the single 'Overdrive', watch the goosebump-inducing video here: https://youtu.be/Cung6VBjo48

Breathe Atlantis teamed up with producer Andy Posdziech (Any Given Day, Caliban, Nasty), who took on recording and mixing duties for 'Savior' and 'Overdrive'. Schiesewitz's relentless, bone-grinding shouts will send shivers down your spine, until the stadium-ready chorus hits you right in the gut.

Schiesewitz adds: "Musically, we're just taking the route that feels best for us. There were just two options left: starting over or let it be the end of this road. We are here to express our feelings through music and deliver the most honest and meaningful art. It just felt right for us to go for a darker and heavier sound than ever before and this ongoing pandemic was just fuel to the fire. We even relinquished the electronic elements in this song because we liked the roughness and raw energy."

Breathe Atlantis have previously played shows with Sum 41, Memphis May Fire, Attila, Bury Tomorrow, Crossfaith and Slaves, toured Europe supporting the likes of Any Given Day, To The Rats And Wolves and Imminence, and played top slots at German festivals.

Instrumental psych/stoner trio Kanaan release new single 'Bourdon'; new album Earthbound released 12th November via Jansen Records
unnamed - 2021-09-10T130602.084.jpg

Instrumental stoner psych trio Kanaan are proud to present their new single 'Bourdon', taken from their brilliant new record Earthbound, to be released 12th November via Jansen Records.

Stream 'Bourdon' here: https://jansenrecords.com/s/bourdon

Emerging from an ocean of fuzz like a Kyuss that went to jazz school, power trio Kanaan return with their fourth studio album in as many years. 'Bourdon' is the first tantalising glimpse into this otherworldly band's brilliant new opus.

Earthbound will be released 12th November via Jansen Records – a change in direction for the still-young group. Where Kanaan’s former albums have been jazzy and psychedelic explorations, with forays into kraut and free improvisation, the new album Earthbound comes at you heavier than a ton of bricks. The heavier Kanaan bear elements of the best of stoner rock, psych and sludge.

Inspired by bands such as Colour Haze, Hawkwind, Elder, Motorpsycho and Acid Mothers Temple, Earthbound serves up plenty of surprising twists and turns, beautiful and mellow passages and masterful musicianship. Although never flashy, the whole album is a showcase of the three wildly talented musicians as they plough their way through enormous riffs and thunderous grooves.

Searching to perfect their hybrid of heavy rock and psychedelic jazz influences, the band isolated themselves in Halden's Athletic Sound studios, working day and night to accomplish what became Earthbound, a quantum leap for their sound in terms of sheer heaviness and psychedelic extravaganza compared to their previous albums.

Kanaan are:

Ask Vatn Strøm - guitars, percussion, oscillations
Ingvald André Vassbø - drums, percussion, speed Farfisa
Eskild Myrvoll - bass, synths, Mellotron, guitar

Belgian shoegazers Slow Crush reveal new single 'Swoon'
SlowCrush-13.jpg

Celebrated Belgian shoegaze quartet Slow Crush have revealed their stunning new single/video 'Swoon'. 'Swoon' is the second glimpse of their stellar forthcoming album Hush, to be released 22nd October via Church Road Records.

Watch 'Swoon' here: https://youtu.be/4X2W81yWAYI

The result of songs written between tours, with unexpected downtime in the chaos of a pandemic, Hush showcases recurring Slow Crush themes, first demonstrated on their debut LP Aurora (2018). Slow Crush fully flex their creative muscles with another truly impressive sonic display on Hush - wistful longing and tranquil bearing contrasting beautifully with cascading echoes of glorious noise.

Some of the band’s darkest and yet most hope-filled music to date – Hush this is their proverbial calm before the storm. Radiating warmth through a haze of abrasive layered guitars and the beautiful soul of Isa Holliday’s vocals, Hush surpasses Slow Crush’s highly-acclaimed debut album Aurora in both songwriting and musicianship.

Following the acclaim of Aurora (now on its fourth vinyl pressing), Slow Crush toured nonstop for eighteen months, with the likes of Pelican, Torche, Soft Kill, Gouge Away and playing festivals like Roadburn, Arctangent, 2000Trees, Groez Rock.

Like the rest of the world, Covid-19 severely impacted the band’s plans – but they turned it to their advantage. Cancelling two European tours and one last-minute US tour was a blessing in disguise, allowing Slow Crush to regroup and rethink in a turbulent period.

Musically and lyrically Hush takes a slightly darker path, touching on the events and issues of the past year. Hush was recorded mid-pandemic in January 2021 in Ghent, Belgium, in whirling rain and snow. As with Aurora, Hush has the intensity and guile to fully envelop the listener, allowing them to form their own narrations of the story the band weave throughout.

Slow Crush will be touring the UK in support of Loathe. Dates as follows:

DECEMBER
9 Glasgow, Classic Grand
10 Liverpool, Arts Club
11 Birmingham, Asylum
12 Sheffield, Foundry
14 Bristol, The Fleece
