After a 20 year career, Agnes Vein have found themselves at yet another crossroads.

The blackened doom trio, with a storied history behind them, are carrying the deep marks of 2020 as they look to release their huge new album Deathcall.

One could argue this is not the first time the seasoned band from Thessaloniki has come up against a tough situation. Forming in 2004 and releasing their …Of Chaos And Law EP the band have had a long line of shows, each leaving a scar on their process.

In 2010 Agnes Vein formed their partnership with Venerate Industries and released their Duality LP. Making a great impression on the Greek underground, the album manifested the influences of Bathory, Candlemass, Neurosis and Celtic Frost and was a landmark in the local genre.

Agnes Vein went on then to support Electric Wizard, Primordial and Rotting Christ, before stewing on their brilliantly dark Soulship LP, released 2013. The slow, heavy and bleak sentiment of the record however wore off on the whole band's existence and in the years that followed the struggles stacked up, leading to a change in line-up and a long, slow fermentation of their new record, Deathcall.

Appearances with Neurosis and Mantar left their mark too on Agnes Vein – both bands bearing some influence on the brilliantly dark, methodically heavy Deathcall. Elements too of Candlemass, Yob and younger bands like Conjurer can be heard – a brutal mix of doom, black and sludge metal. Agnes Vein’s standing in the Greek underground is a welcome reflection of the quality and diversity on display.

New album Heaven In Hiding out on 26th November via Arising Empire

Swedish metalcore outfit Imminence have released their astonishing season finale, a nine-minute short film featuring their new single 'Alleviate'. The track is another taste of the band's upcoming fourth album Heaven In Hiding, due for release on 26th November 2021 via Arising Empire.

'Alleviate' comes as part of the combined 9-minute music video that also includes previous single 'Chasing Shadows'. The outstanding cinematic project challenges the entire concept of modern day music video performances.

Guitarist Herald Barrett comments:

”I think we’re at the point where we could have released a music video within the regular concept. I guess it would have turned out fine and hopefully people would have enjoyed it - but what about us? Why should we need to repeat ourselves over and over again? I truly believe that outstanding creativity starts beyond the frameworks of how things should be done.”

Fronted by vocalist and violinist Eddie Berg, guitarists Harald Barrett and Alex Arnoldsson, drummer Peter Hanström and bass player Christian Höijer, Heaven In Hiding also includes the band's previous singles, 'Ghost', 'Heaven In Hiding' and 'Temptation', their highest performing tracks to date.

Pre-order Heaven In Hiding here: https://imminence.lnk.to/heaveninhiding

Heaven In Hiding is an outstanding collection of songs written with an unhindered manifestation of emotional outburst and sincerity. With an organic approach and honest creativeness, the group delivers an album where each song stands out in character and story telling, whilst still connected in a larger concept. The new record undoubtedly displays a musical and visual persona that instantly challenges the idea of how a modern metal act is perceived today, and acknowledges Imminence as ready to take the place as one of the genre's frontline artists.

Heaven In Hiding was recorded, mixed, and mastered in Sweden by award-winning producer Henrik Udd, who has worked on some of the most critically acclaimed albums with acts such as Architects, Bring Me The Horizon, At The Gates, and many more.

After the remarkably successful announcement of the band’s exclusive acoustic tour 'Live In Concert Halls', Imminence were granted a placing in Eventim’s Official Charts as one of the fastest selling tours in Germany. The quintet recently announced their biggest European headline tour to date, taking place in 19 cities during February/March 2022.

Founded by Berg and Barrett when they were teenagers, the band grew organically with a constantly expanding global fanbase, as well as touring actively through Europe following the release of their 2015 breakthrough single ‘The Sickness'.

Since the release of their 2019 album Turn The Light On, the five-piece have strongly established themselves in Europe as one of the most exciting up-and-coming bands in the metalcore scene. Nekrogoblikon return with new single / video 'RIGHT NOW'

New album planned for 2022

The self-proclaimed "Best Goblin Metal on the Planet" known as Nekrogoblikon have dropped the video for their brand new single 'RIGHT NOW'.

Watch "RIGHT NOW" here: https://youtu.be/0Ij38K5iCfk

The video also serves as a teaser for John Goblikon's talk show of the same name, which also features Blake Anderson (Workaholics), comedian/musician Reggie Watts, DJ Dillon Francis, and Tosin Abasi (Animals as Leaders).

"We're very excited to finally share the first single and video from our new album with you all," the band says. "Since the song JUST SO HAPPENS to have the same name as John Goblikon's talk show RIGHT NOW, we figured we'd also give you a sneak peak of what's to come in Season 4 amidst all the goblin metal antics. Hope you enjoy!"

The song will appear on the band's upcoming album, due out in 2022. Stay tuned for more details.

Season 4 of RIGHT NOW premieres on Wednesday 17th November, with special guest Blake Anderson.

Nekrogoblikon online:
Website || Facebook || Twitter || Spotify || Instagram

Los Angeles, California's Nekrogoblikon are melodic hard rock pranksters who deploy gnarly death metal earworms filled with crafty hooks, claw-pumping choruses, lightning-fast riffs, and over the top, EDM-style keyboard flourishes. With their ostentatious goblin hypeman John Goblikon, the band takes cues from hyperbolic horror-metal enthusiasts like GWAR, Finntroll, and Dethklok, while maintaining an affable, self-referential sense of humour. The group's early outings, like 2007's Goblin Island, were largely low-fidelity affairs, but by the early 2010s, Nekrogoblikon were operating at a far higher technical level, and employing a rotating cast of talented players.

Founded in 2006, Nekrogoblikon self-produced their debut album, the relatively lo-fi Goblin Island, in a basement. The LP was released in 2007, and an expanded line-up was quickly assembled to help flesh out the fledgling group's audacious live shows. The more technically proficient Stench arrived in 2011, and included the single 'No One Survives' — the video written and directed by Brandon Dermer (Panic At The Disco, Every Time I Die, Diplo, Dillon Francis) became a viral hit, and landed the band festival slots at Download Festival in the UK and Rock Im Park/Rock Am Ring in Germany. The Power EP was issued the following year, and in 2014 the band joined Limp Bizkit on the Kerrang! Tour. In 2015 they released the concept LP Heavy Meta via their own Mystery Box label, and in 2018, Nekrogoblikon issued their fourth studio long-player, Welcome to Bonkers, which was followed by extensive touring including performing on the entirety of the final cross-country Vans Warped Tour and Summer Slaughter. In between touring stints, the band (along with Brandon Dermer and writer/actor Dave Rispoli) released three seasons of RIGHT NOW, a comedic talk show starring band mascot John Goblikon. The series features a wide array of high profile guests including comedian Bobby Lee, The Used, Keith Buckley from Every Time I Die, Wes Borland from Limp Bizkit, and Joe Trohman from Fallout Boy.

Metal quartet Arkdown release video for new single 'Made Of Misery'

New record Terra Phasma out 3rd December 2021

UK metal quartet Arkdown have released a video for their crushing new single 'Made Of Misery'. The track is the third single from the band's upcoming record Terra Phasma, due for release on 3rd December 2021.

Check out the video for 'Made Of Misery' here: https://youtu.be/azYya5Niv0Q

Stream 'Made Of Misery' here: https://ffm.to/madeofmisery

The band comment:

"I promised someone a long time ago that I'd write a song called 'Misery', because they said I looked miserable every time they saw me. I've suffered with depression for quite a while, and tend to deal with it by shutting myself off from people. I've often felt like I deserve to be unhappy and, even though I don't think anyone deserves to be sad or suffer with mental health issues, my head tells me I'm different and that maybe I don't deserve what I've got. I don’t have the answer to dealing with that yet but I know that, like me, many people out there who feel the same way, will often turn to music as a safe place. Maybe hearing me talk about it in 'Made of Misery' and relating to it is a step towards breaking out of it."

Arkdown recently announced their hometown Terra Phasma release show, set to take place on 3rd December at Corporation in Sheffield. The show is Arkdown's first since March 2020 and marks vocalist Joe Hallam's debut performance with the band.

Tickets are on sale here: https://arkdownmusic.com/products/terra-phasma-release-show

Arkdown are a four-piece metal band from Sheffield, UK. Formed in late 2015, the quartet draw heavily on modern metalcore and death metal influences, framed by their signature melodic, yet heavy, riff-based style.

Self-releasing their single 'In Torment' and their debut EP The Calling whilst touring the length of UK, Arkdown have supported a glut of heavy hitters in the scene, from Fit For An Autopsy and Oceans Ate Alaska, to Kingdom of Giants and A Night in Texas.

With the release of their second standalone single 'Miasmic', Arkdown's sound matured and extended their reach, as they broke out of the UK to play shows in mainland Europe - before COVID-19 put on the brakes. Arkdown spent that time refining their line-up and sound before working on their upcoming record, Terra Phasma.

Life Of Agony bassist and bestselling Beauty of Horror creator Alan Robert launches whitelist for ‘Monster Chompers’ NFT Collection

Rockstar-turned-bestselling-artist Alan Robert, best known for being the bassist and primary songwriter in Life of Agony, and for creating “The World’s Creepiest Adult Coloring Book” The Beauty of Horror, has launched his very first NFT collection called Monster Chompers. The presales whitelist kicked off on Halloween, allowing fans to reserve their spots to mint their own Monster Chompers to the Ethereum blockchain. Robert partnered with top software agency Way Too Digital to develop the limited, one-of-a-kind, digital collectibles. Way Too Digital is the group behind several high-profile projects for Gary Vee, NTWRK and Cardano.

Check out Monster Chompers NFTs at https://monsterchompers.com

See the video: https://vimeo.com/622763238

Each non-fungible token has a varying set of character traits that determines its rarity. First off, there are multiple monster species available, such as vampires, werewolves, mummies, zombies, and more. Secondly, each character is depicted chowing down on a bizarre selection of meals from the All-Nite Eatery Menu. Delicacies include Spaghetti & Eyeballs, Rancid Ratatouille, and Spicy Shrunken Heads Skewers, to name a few. All elements were hand drawn by Robert and randomly generated using algorithms to produce 10,000 unique combinations.

“This NFT collection has been an absolute blast to work on. Monster Chompers takes two of my favorite things: horror and comedy, and throws them in the blender together to produce something hilarious, twisted and completely unique,” said Alan Robert. “Working closely with the fantastic team at Way Too Digital has been an awesome and eye-opening experience, too. I’ve learned so much about how NFTs are revolutionizing the digital art space. It’s such an exciting time and now that we’ve launched the whitelist, we’re one step closer to unleashing Monster Chompers on the world. This collection is just the beginning for the brand, too. There are already plans in the works to expand the IP into other media as well.”

“This is by far our most exciting and fun generative NFT avatar project,” said Way Too Digital’s Founder & CEO Agustin Rodriquez. “It has been an amazing experience working with an artist of Alan’s stature, and every time we receive new materials from him, it makes us tickle and smile. He not only manages to create a strong emotional connection between his artwork and the community, but also with people like us who are new to the horror genre. We’re also very happy that Monster Chompers will be the first project launching on our new white-label NFT platform with a built-in secondary market. That way, it keeps the whole user experience on-brand, similar to how NBA Top Shop did with sports.”

Instrumental prog group Outrun the Sunlight stream new album ahead of release

A Vast Field of Silence LP out 12th November

Chicago instrumental progressive quintet Outrun the Sunlight have streamed their stunning new album A Vast Field of Silence a day early.

Released 12th November, you can listen to the album in its entirety here: https://youtu.be/gvQa3IEjAEQ

Guitarist Austin Peters comments: "This record has been four years in the making and we are so excited to finally share it. These songs have followed me through a very transformative period of my life. They've helped reveal fears around my instinct to create, and my joy in fulfilling that creation. I feel grateful for the people, especially the past and present members of this band, who have walked down parts of that road alongside me. Now it's something I feel ready to let go of and give away. As always, this album is best listened to in a quiet space on your best set of headphones."

A Vast Field of Silence pre-orders:

Physical pre-order: https://www.athousandarms.com/collections/outrunthesunlight
Digital pre-order: https://outrunthesunlight.bandcamp.com/album/a-vast-field-of-silence

A Vast Field of Silence is the Chicagoans fourth LP, and four years in the making. The thematic record is a wordless concept album, based around a recurring melody appearing throughout. Most clearly stated in the album opener ‘Awareness’, the beautiful theme is typical of Outrun the Sunlight, an unusually cinematic and compositionally-heavy group in the genre.

Although anchored to the theme, A Vast Field of Silence is a satisfyingly surprising record, one that is a journey of a listen. Going beyond simply instrumental progressive, the band incorporate elements of acoustic ambient, jazz, post-rock, and metal. Bearing comparisons to Cloudkicker, The Contortionist, and Russian Circles, A Vast Field of Silence is Outrun the Sunlight at their best.

The band have a huge depth and range of musical talent at their disposal: Kyle Kunkler (keys) is a professional dance piano accompanist (ballet, modern, and more) and composer, and custom-coded a majority of the synths heard on the album. Luke Angle (drummer) is a professional music instructor, from big-band jazz to math rock via country & western. Phil Kalas (bass) is also a composer, under the name Asleep In The Stars, while guitarists, Cody McCarty and Austin Peters formed the group in 2011, and have known each other since playing together in high school bands from 2008. Austin, aside from Outrun the Sunlight, has also practiced embodiment meditation since 2017, and is the founder of “Simple Being”, which produces recorded meditations with voice and ambient music.

With forming in 2011, the band released both Architecture of the Cosmos EP and debut LP The Return of Inertia in the same year. Signing with Rogue Records America in 2012, the duo re-released The Return of Inertia (Vocalist Version) which included vocalists from around the world, plus two bonus tracks. In 2014, the addition of drummer, Pedro Villegas, and bassist, Connor Grant, brought the band to the stage, and they released their second album Terrapin also on Rogue Records. In August 2015, following the release of Live at Electrical Audio EP, the group toured in the east coast United States with Native Construct (Metal Blade Records) and Wings Denied.

In 2016 Outrun the Sunlight went on to perform on Chicago internet music series, Audiotree, releasing the live album Outrun the Sunlight on Audiotree Live. They then released Red Bird independently in 2017, their third LP, the first instance that the group performed together on an album. A band not content to rest, they then released a live in-studio record, Emerge, in January 2021.

With the Covid-19 interruption and introduction of a new drummer, Outrun the Sunlight’s newest LP has eventually been four years in the making, from first conception ‘til release – but well worth the long wait.

Austin Peters - Guitar
Cody McCarty - Guitar

Luke Angle - Drums

The Holocene Termination EP available 3rd December

Demonstealer, one of India's premiere death metal musicians, has revealed his new track 'From Extinction Begins Evolution'.

Another glimpse into Demonstealer's forthcoming EP The Holocene Termination, released 3rd December, the new song features Simon Schilling of Marduk, Anton Zhikharev (Gorgasm), and Fabio Bartoletti (Fleshgod Apocalypse).

Sahil Makhija, better known as Demonstealer, has long been one of the pillars of the heavy metal scene in India. From being at the vanguard of a fledgling metal scene to becoming one of its most visible and respected proponents today, Demonstealer is integral to the growth of the Indian metal community.

In 2000, Demonstealer formed Demonic Resurrection, one of India’s best known and biggest metal bands. Over the last two decades the band has become one of the most recognizable faces of Indian metal, nationally and internationally. Also in 2000 he established India’s first recording studio dedicated solely to metal - a home to all of the country's top metal bands.

Five years later he launched Demonstealer Records – India’s first metal record label. The roster included the best in India’s burgeoning metal scene, and licensed internationally renowned acts, including Behemoth and Dimmu Borgir. Demonstealer also founded and ran Resurrection Festival, alongside Demonic Resurrection bassist Husain Bandukwala. For years it was India’s only dedicated extreme metal festival. Needless to say, Demonstealer’s impact on the national scene cannot be overstated.

Aside from the success of Demonic Resurrection (5 studio albums, Metal Hammer Golden God award, multiple tours and festivals across UK and Europe), Demonstealer’s solo career is notable. From his debut album And Chaos Will Reign (2008) to 2021’s The Holocene Termination, Sahil has been blazing a thunderous solo trail.

Occasionally however, even a tireless musician like Demonstealer must call in outside forces. The guest appearances on The Holocene Termination are highly impressive, including Eugene Ryabchenko (Fleshgod Apocalypse), Anton Zhikharev (Gorgasm), Simon Schilling (Marduk), Robin Stone (The Amenta, Norse), and Jeff Hughell (Six Feet Under).

The range of talent on display is undeniable – all contributing to a thrilling near-20 minute ride from a highly significant musician.

Instrumental psych/stoner trio Kanaan release new video

'Return to the Tundrasphere' streaming now

New album Earthbound released 12th November via Jansen Records

Instrumental stoner psych trio Kanaan have revealed their new video 'Return to the Tundrasphere', from their brilliant new LP Earthbound, released 12th November via Jansen Records.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/S9BrsNG-yJo

Pre-order Earthbound here: https://kanaanband.bandcamp.com/

The third video in Kanaan's live in Amper Tone Studio series, it's another glimpse into the band's heady performance process.

Emerging from an ocean of fuzz like a Kyuss that went to jazz school, power trio Kanaan return with their fourth studio album in as many years.

Earthbound will be released 12th November via Jansen Records – a change in direction for the still-young group. Where Kanaan’s former albums have been jazzy and psychedelic explorations, with forays into kraut and free improvisation, the new album Earthbound comes at you heavier than a ton of bricks. The heavier Kanaan bear elements of the best of stoner rock, psych and sludge.

Inspired by bands such as Colour Haze, Hawkwind, Elder, Motorpsycho and Acid Mothers Temple, Earthbound serves up plenty of surprising twists and turns, beautiful and mellow passages and masterful musicianship. Although never flashy, the whole album is a showcase of the three wildly talented musicians as they plough their way through enormous riffs and thunderous grooves.

Searching to perfect their hybrid of heavy rock and psychedelic jazz influences, the band isolated themselves in Halden's Athletic Sound studios, working day and night to accomplish what became Earthbound, a quantum leap for their sound in terms of sheer heaviness and psychedelic extravaganza compared to their previous albums.
