Announce instrumental re-release of debut album Griseus

Bellum I
out 3rd December via Blood Music

Legendary atmospheric metal band Aquilus stream their orchestral and instrumental version of 'The Fawn', initially released on their debut full-length record, Griseus. The re-release of their debut album will be available alongside new album, Bellum I, due 3rd December via Blood Music.

Listen to the instrumental track 'The Fawn', premiered by Revolver, here: https://www.revolvermag.com/music/hear-aquilus-new-instrumental-neoclassical-version-fawn

The re-release of Griseus will be available in a two CD format featuring all instrumental versions of tracks. On the idea to re-release the previous material, Horace Rosenqvist states:

"There were lots of requests for an instrumental, neoclassical version of Griseus over the years. I'm glad to find the opportunity to release it alongside the new record, and the new remaster from Cutting Room Studios came out great."

Preorder Bellum I here: http://www.blood-music.com/

"Bellum I is an atmospheric metal album with a fusion of classical film, folk, and black metal influences, continuing in the tradition of the work started on the first album, Griseus, and evolving to new levels," says Rosenqvist.

'Into Wooded Hollows' and 'Lucille's Gate' are the first tastes of new music from the enigmatic band since the release of Griseus, which slowly amassed a following of devoted fans, climbing its way to being voted one of the top albums of the decade on MetalStorm.

For eight years, a follow-up masterpiece was in the making. The opus grew so furiously, the decision was ultimately made to split the work into two parts, culminating with the release of the first album, Bellum I.

Bellum I showcases the band's rare amalgam of authentic classical, European folk and black metal influences, alongside Aquilus' unique multi-instrumentation and compositional complexity.

Metal influences, ranging from early Metallica to the early works of SolefaldOpeth and Katatonia, combine with the classical romanticism of Rachmaninov and Chopin.

Bellum I also continues Aquilus' signature blend of acoustic elements, with an assortment of acoustic guitars and pianos to violins, mandolas, fipple flutes, balalaika, gusli and bowed psaltery, recalling the aura and dexterity of emotive film composers Bernard Herrmann (Psycho, The Twilight Zone) and Thomas Newman (Shawshank Redemption, Six Feet Under) .

Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, Aquilus' music is composed and produced by Horace Rosenqvist and recorded in collaboration with session musicians. The amount of detail poured into each note is immeasurable; years of dedication undertaken to produce the final product.

Bellum I is a testament to the beauty and chaos of creation.

Pyrexia announce new single / video

Gravitas Maximus album out 10th December via Unique Leader Records

Brutal death metal pioneers Pyrexia have unveiled their new single, 'Rule of 2', from their upcoming album Gravitas Maximus, due out on 10th December via Unique Leader.

Legendary brutal death metallers Pyrexia return with new album Gravitas Maximus. Now entering their fourth decade, the quintet return heavier and stronger than ever, proving once again to be one the most important forces in extreme music.

On the album, guitarist Chris Basile comments: "When you write an album like Sermon of Mockery, it’s like Moby Dick with this giant whale that you have to conquer. I spent over two decades throwing harpoons and missing every time. Gravitas Maximus goes right through the heart of the whale and kills it dead. Along with everything else."

Gravitas Maximus was recorded at Chapel Sound Recording Studios, aka “The Chapel”, Long Island, New York by Chris Basile, and mixed and mastered by Miguel Teresso at Demigod Recording Studio, Portugal.

Check out the video to previous single 'Pawn to King' here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDP_dvGFKRs

In 1987 guitarist Chris Basile joined the band Mortuary along with Terrence Hobbs, Doug Cerrito and Mike Smith, all of Suffocation. Together over 30 songs were written by the band with many of the songs and riffs written during this period appearing on both Pyrexia and Suffocation’s early releases leading too many comparisons.

In 1990 Basile met with Guy Marchais, Rob Shimonski, Daryl Wagner and Mike Andrejko and Pyrexia was formed. They went on to release their 1991 demo Liturgy of Impurity and later the classic 1993 full-length Sermon of Mockery, cementing their place in the anoles of death metal history.

Pyrexia continued to release one seminal release after another including their 1997 System of the Animal, and even joining forces with Trevor Peres of Obituary in 2001 to form the band Catastrophic, which went on to release their debut album The Cleansing on Metal Blade records.

In 2006 Pyrexia signed with Unique Leader records and began an extensive campaign of touring and performing both in America and overseas under the UL moniker. A tradition that continues today with no end in sight.

Australian alt. group Triple One release new single/video 'COME OVER'

Co-written with Matt Mason of DMAs

"trailblazers of the scene" - Rolling Stone

Australian four-piece Triple One have revealed their stadium-sized anthem 'COME OVER', their second single of their year following the award-nominated 'BLOOD RAVE'.

Co-written with Matt Mason of rock trio DMAs, you can stream 'COME OVER' and watch the video here: https://ffm.to/comeover111

Direct video link: https://youtu.be/E9rI7OFMEao

While Triple One have earned notoriety for their slapstick humour and boorish punchlines, 'COME OVER' sees them delve into the introspective artistry that has evolved triumphantly since their first single. The song combines Triple One's raw storytelling with more abstract references, describing "a situation where you're stuck in a loop of bad habits in a relationship, and not really being aware of that until it's too late. Ultimately, you have to know when to move on; but we often choose what we want, rather than what's actually good for us." What results is an intimate listen that highlights the group's intensely relatable songwriting, reaching a die-hard fanbase that stretches across Australia and well into Europe.

Sonically, 'COME OVER' is a tender statement that still captivates listeners with grandiose flair. Having shared a studio next door to longtime friend Matt Mason of DMAs, he offers the gleaming, nostalgic guitar riffs that open 'COME OVER', building gradually into one of Lil Dijon's most anthemic, stadium-sized hooks: "I wish I knew your hands like I knew I used to/Between my fingers, run through your hair/And it's the same mistakes we making in motion/Pretend you know this, I can't pretend." Producer Billy Gunns continues to effortlessly fuse the hip-hop and alternative worlds that Triple One have long dominated, placing Mason's riffs alongside trap-flavoured 808s and furious drums that foreshadow the song's most momentous drops. Rappers Marty Bugatti and Obi Ill Terrors trade poignant verses describing their own fleeting joys and inner turmoil, giving 'Come Over' a distinctly greyscale finish.

‘COME OVER’ arrives alongside an avant-garde visual accompaniment directed by Marty Bugatti, and is a sardonic take on consumption, hedonism, and fast lifestyles, showcasing the group’s trademark humour and style. Marty Bugatti explains further, “I thought it would be interesting to take the very emotive/introspective song and juxtapose it against a typical pop/rap music video. The song touches on lost love and the monotonous cycle of living in excess and bad habits, whereas the video glorifies material possession. I wanted it to feel like some hotshot director that knew nothing about Triple One came in and said "This is how we make a pop/rap music video" without paying much attention to the actual song itself or the message behind it.”

The group have also announced their Come Over Tour, a 10-date run that brings the transcendent Triple One live show to Australia’s sweatiest underground venues, showcasing a mix of new material and old favourites. These will be the group’s most special and intimate shows yet, before their next project catapults them into the stratosphere.

'COME OVER' follows Triple One's recent single 'BLOOD RAVE', which recently garnered an inaugural J Award nomination for ‘Australian Music Video of the Year’. The single was added to national radio rotation, as well as earning the group a cover spot on Spotify's The Hybrid playlist. In 2020, Triple One released their debut album Panic Force which debuted at #1 on the ARIA Hip-Hop charts, followed by a sold-out national tour. Their 2019 breakout single 'Butter' has been certified Gold in Australia, while the group have become one of the country's most ferocious live acts, playing at the landmark events including Falls Festival, Listen Out, and this year's virtual Splendour XR.

Triple One are impossible to categorise, and even harder to ignore. Brash bars come courtesy of rappers Marty Bugatti and Obi Ill Terrors, melodic hooks by Lil Dijon float in paranormal fashion while greyscale production is expertly crafted by Billy GunnsTriple One are a sonic experiment between hard, soft, and all the textures in between.

Triple One's early cult singles 'Doozy' and 'Overflow' scored millions of views and streams internationally, but 2019 was the year that Triple One broke into Australia's consciousness: their singles 'Showoff', 'Tarlo' and 'Valentine Kid' were added to high rotation on triple j, and they were also profiled by Complex, GQ and Highsnobiety. Their 2019 single 'Butter' also dominated radio airwaves and led to the group's debut UK/European tour and five sold-out shows across Australia. 'Butter' was later certified Gold in Australia.

In 2020, Triple One released their debut album Panic Force which debuted at #1 on the ARIA hip-hop charts, and #8 on the ARIA album charts. It was also crowned the triple j 'Feature Album of the Week'. Onstage is where Triple One truly state their case. Having earned a notorious live reputation through relentless gigging across Australia, 2021 saw the band sell out their Panic Force Tour nationally in the midst of difficult pandemic circumstances. The release of 'BLOOD RAVE' and 'COME OVER' heralds the exciting next chapter for Triple One.

Bandbond launches unique show and release calendar

Bandbond is a revolutionary app connecting artists and fans featuring over 1500 bands

Bandbond, a FREE smartphone app that connects bands and fans, has launched its latest feature: A calendar of live shows and album releases and in one single customised feed. Now featuring over 1500 bands, Bandbond has become a vital resource for fans of heavy music.

Bandbond event section features:

Discover shows and album releases
Save events to customise your personal event feed
Add events to your calendar
A discussion forum for every album and each show
Track multiple locations to never miss out on a show

Watch the Bandbond trailer here: https://youtu.be/1Pd4MIlx0ao

Social media reach for artists can be as low as low as 5% on current platforms, meaning fans don't receive all their updates, and bands don't reach all their fans, unless they pay.

Music fans can make a free account on Bandbond and never miss a post from their favourite artists again. With Bandbond, you will see 100% of all content that the artists you follow post. As well as native posts, Bandbond consolidates posts from Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, so you can see everything a artist posts in one place.

Masterminded by Martin Brändström of Dark Tranquillity, Bandbond has been created by the music community, for the music community, to take communication back into its hands.

Over 800 active bands, including Alien Weaponry, Behemoth, Employed To Serve, Lacuna Coil, Conjurer and Meshuggah, have already signed up to Bandbond. The app also features news and information from an additional 700 mirrored bands.

The idea of Bandbond was born out of frustration when co-founder Martin Brändström was in charge of the band’s online social media. It quickly became clear to him that the communication with the fans - that the band had earned over the years by touring the world and recording albums - now had a gatekeeper in the shape of drastically increased price tags set by the social media giants.

“The relationship between a band and its fans is unique and not something you can market like toothpaste or soft drinks,” Martin explains. “Without sponsoring a post you will only reach a fraction of your followers. It’s really kind of strange that someone can charge you to reach the fans that actually wants to be reached, and to make you pay for the display of content that you yourself, as a band, has created which generates traffic to their platform ...”

Alternative metal act Bad Llama release venomous new single 'Viper'

'Viper' video streaming now

Midlands-based alternative metal act Bad Llama have released their venomous new single/video 'Viper'.

The single's lyrics explore the nature of those people that suck the soul and life out of every situation; the parasites, the leeches, the rats, the vipers. Injected with a hefty dose of venom, the combination of melodic chorus lines with filthy, growling verses, are all topped off with ear-splitting metalcore breakdowns.

Watch the video to 'Viper' here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5OiHpy7CXU

The band comment:

"'Viper' is about people coming into your life with ulterior motives. All they do is take your time and take your money, mentally drain you, or play off your empathy. Even after you’ve given them everything you physically can, they end up chipping away at your mental state instead until you’ve nothing left for even yourself. ‘Viper’ is similar to the snakes hidden in the grass, just like the people you bring into your life that just do you harm, whether they realise it or not. And its about trying to take that sense of self back.”

With a heartfelt vocal delivery and thought-provoking lyrics, combined with an eclectic blend of heavy and melodic musicianship, Bad Llama continue to develop a very unique and recognisable sound. Complimented by a consistently explosive and passionate live performance, the band are becoming an exciting prospect among the unsigned circuit.

Folk-prog artist Dikajee releases new video 'Glorious Beautiful Magical'

From debut LP Forget~Me~Nots out now

"sublime debut album" - Metal Hammer
"out of this world" - Prog

The hauntingly brilliant folk-prog artist Dikajee has unveiled her new video for 'Glorious Beautiful Magical', taken from her mesmerising debut full-length album Forget~Me~Nots, out now.

Watch here: https://youtu.be/bJsA9Gv-VB0

Purchase Forget~Me~Nots here: dikajee.com

The artist comments: "'Glorious Beautiful Magical' is a song of your inner source of strength, life. It's about your personal childhood memory or a place that you can come back to and charge no matter how dark it is around you. It might be a melody or a quote that brings your confidence and passion to live, you can charge from it. It's individual for everyone. It's scenery. It is like a "light that never goes out", it's a hymn of freedom and wilderness and gratitude to that strange thing that makes me feel part of something bigger than myself and gives me strength."

Such an approach is truly typical of this brilliant artist, and an album recorded throughout Europe, and with a truly international cadre and calibre of musician. Recording and producing in Norway, Portugal, Germany, France, Latvia, Russia, Forget~Me~Nots features guest appearances from Faun’s Fiona Rüggeberg (bagpipes), Klone’s Guillaume Bernard (guitars), Erik Truffaz's Artis Orubs (drums) and Amber Foil’s João Filipe (guitars) among others.

The international, collaborative outlook pays dividends across a record that showcases the best of folk, minimalist electronic, neo-baroque, neo-classical and truly inventive progressive rock. Above all else shines through Dikajee’s voice, a once-in-a-generation talent that recalls the best of Bjork and Kate Bush. Musically, shades of Steven Wilson, Nightwish, and Gentle Giant shine through.

Across Forget~Me~Nots Dikajee’s gloriously imaginative ethos is heard again and again. Track Four, ‘River Rite’, is a self-described “pagan ritual” song, which plays on the dual parables of the energy of floral wreaths, and of the wiseman by the river. The closing track, ‘Something Mystique’ is an exploration of the state of loss, and involved the visiting of more than ten abandoned grand estates of the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries.

An artist who has previously toured Germany and Switzerland, opened for Yann Tiersen, Recoil (Depeche Mode’s Alan Wilder), and Nils Petter Molvær; and placed in Prog Magazine’s Top Unsigned Bands, Dikajee will deservedly have a bright and illustrious future.

Progressive metal giants Jinjer release powerful music video for 'Disclosure!'

Wallflowers out now via Napalm Records, purchase here

Progressive metal giants Jinjer have unveiled their stunning video to new single Disclosure!, the latest track taken from new album Wallflowers, out now via Napalm Records.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/OhxisV58nJw

This past summer, progressive metal giants Jinjer released their most in-demand and successful album yet, Wallflowers, subsequently hitting the top of the charts all around the globe. In addition to several other top spots, the band landed at #7 on the German charts, #5 on the official UK Rock & Metal album charts, #1 on both the US Billboard Top New Artist Album charts and Canada’s Hard Music album charts, and #2 on the US Hard Music album charts.

Purchase Wallflowers here: https://smarturl.it/Wallflowers-NPR

Amid their livelyNapalm Records colleagues Space Of Variations, and their current nearly sold out North American headline tour with Suicide Silence and All Hail The YetiJinjer pushed their limits and shot a massive music video for the album track 'Disclosure!'.

With a fiery opening, 'Disclosure!' cuts sharp like a razor blade without making any compromises. Distorted guitars, multifarious drums and an interplay of invading screeches and deep growls unfold the full power of the chart-topping title. The video verges on a visually played mind game, which seems almost cinematically intimidating, transmitting the feeling of strength across the screen.

Jinjer bassist Eugene states: “The track 'Disclosure!' and the video itself is a very important video for Jinjer. Not only is it one of our favorite tracks on the new album as well as live, our ex-guitarist Dmitriy Oksen stars in the video and was great to work with him again, even if it‘s in a different capacity now.”

On the video, Eugene continues: “Believe it or not it is not always easy being in the spotlight all the time … with each success this band reaches there is a huge amount of expectations from the outside that come with each step we make. From personal opinions to politics and now to the pandemic, our every move is scrutinized and judged by the outside. Although it‘s not always fun, we would not have it any other way …”

The new album Wallflowers is available in the following formats:

- Deluxe Box (Hand-Numbered Box, Limited Shirt (different sizes available), 7" Black incl. 2 Bonus Tracks, CD Digipak (Sleeve)) - Limited to 1000 Copies (Napalm Mailorder ONLY)

Jinjer's exceptional precision of modern metal paired with tough as nails attitude has earned them a fiercely loyal, rabid fanbase and massive critical acclaim, making them one of the most talked about bands today and garnering them many sold out performances across the globe.

Since announcing Wallflowers, the band have graced numerous renowned international magazine covers, booked the biggest stories, sold out countless tour dates and their first two new singles, 'Vortex' and 'Mediator', both cracked the multi-million stream mark in no time. The new album not only presents a methodical and premeditated next step in the band's already imposing career, but moreover, it mirrors the personal adversities they’ve faced due to the worldwide events of the last year. Wallflowers is not only an upgrade to the progressive groove metal sound that all Jinjer fans crave, but also a sonic pressure cooker of technical musicianship, emotional fury and an intense soundtrack befitting the harrowing state of the world today. Hailing from the conflict-ridden Ukrainian region of Donetsk but now calling Kiev their home base, Jinjer truly do not mince words – or riffs – on Wallflowers.

Greek prog-psych quartet Naxatras announce new album, IV

To be released 25th February
Pre-save the first single, 'Journey to Narahmon', now

It’s been almost a decade now since Naxatras first set out from the Greek north to carve out the path fate had set for them.

Since 2012, the group have been honing the rough edges of psychedelic rock, combining heavy riffs, heady soundscapes, astral melodies and a deep appreciation for groove.

Naxatras now return, with their long-awaited and highly-anticipated new LP, IV, to be released 25th February. The band have today revealed the tracklisting and awe-inspiring cover art, and given notice that the first single from the record, 'Journey to Narahmon' will be released 26th November.

Pre-save here: https://orcd.co/naxatras_journeytonarahmon

IV is - fittingly - the first new music to showcase Naxatras as a quartet. It is a significant departure for the group, already celebrated across Europe for their jamming-based approach to psychedelia. The focus with IV is now more directly on songwriting, musicianship and composition - drawing magic from early 70s prog rock and master songwriters of esoterica.

The new album has gaps that only a keyboard can fill, so Naxatras welcome a new member to the clan: Pantelis Kargas. The whole operation of the band has changed - the previously trademark analogue sound has shifted to a more surgically precise approach, the orchestration multileveled and powerful.

IV is the band at their creative peak, with all their experience put to use, and you can hear the first glimpse of the record on 26th November with the exquisite 'Journey to Narahmon'. An expansive, mesmerising six-minute journey, with nods to Pink Floyd, Elder, Steven Wilson, the new track's wordless vocalisations demonstrate the power of Naxatras at its fullest.

Naxatras' musical imprint began in 2015, with their first album I. Recorded in a single day, the record was a best-selling underground sensation and welcomed with critical acclaim.

Shortly after the band went on their first tour, with live shows in Greece and five neighbouring Balkan countries. The second album - II - followed in 2016, with the same attitude in live performance, live recording, and fully analogue mentality.

However the road proved to be the band's calling - summer 2016 led to Naxatras' first full European tour, sowing the seeds of high anticipation.

An established act with the release of III, 40 more European dates followed, with a firm fanbase in every city on the continent. The album release show in Athens was to more than 1,000 devotees, a sold-out spectacle, and the subsequent tours included performances at Desertfest, Rock Im Waid, Duna Jam, Ozora and a series of appearances in Australia.
