Krüller album out 11th February via Relapse Records

UK / EU tour postponed

San Diego-based outfit Author & Punisher treat fans to a third and final preview of the forthcoming album, Krüller, out 11th February via Relapse Records, with the release of 'Blacksmith'.

Watch the visualiser for 'Blacksmith' here: https://youtu.be/hbAtufmWiZ0

“’Blacksmith’ is a track that I co-wrote with the Krüller producer Jason Begin (Vytear),” explains mastermind Tristan Shone. “This one is a bit of an adventure where we go from my slow bending drones and morph into Jason's jungle and breaks, with the same halftime bassline and vocals tying it together. Lyrically, this is an ode to Black women-led movements who have been fearlessly leading the way against oppression in this country for a long time."

Shone began work on Krüller after returning from his opening slot with Tool across the U.S., Australia, and New Zealand, before being cut short due to the March 2020 lockdowns. "Melody has been and is still a part of my sound," says Shone. "I've always bathed them in a lot of reverb, delay, and distortion, though. This time around, I was bothered by the wall of distortion I had created. I wanted a little more clarity. I wanted to refine the sound. I wanted to step back from my own show and analyze it a bit. I had all these competing distortions that I wanted to streamline. I like contrast and wanted the vocals to be immediately noticeable. There's something about mixing punishing drones and rumble with a mellow thing on top that I really like on Krüller.”

Two already-released singles: Drone Carrying Dread, and Maiden Star have showcased the new avenues Shone is taking his music. Consequence said Drone Carrying Dread is “one of the prettiest A&P tracks to date, though no less sonically powerful,” Metal Injection noted the music’s “massive industrial percussion, floating synths and dreamy guitars,” and Revolver succinctly dubbed the collection “emotional machine music.”

Part of the Krüller revamp included refining the machines that have become synonymous with Author & Punisher. As a result, Shone is also launching a bespoke audio gear company called Drone Machines to coincide with the release of Krüller. The gear company launch follows nearly two decades of Author & Punisher honing in on his craft - meticulously inventing, machining, experimenting, and creating custom musical instruments for his incredible live performances and recordings.

Krüller pre-orders are available now (https://orcd.co/authorandpunisher-kruller) with the 52-minute collection available on a selection of limited-edition vinyl variants, that tie into the colour palette of the album artwork, CD, cassette and digitally.

Author & Punisher have added several U.S. tour dates while simultaneously moving the forthcoming European headlining tour to Spring. The planned U.K. / EU dates have been cancelled. An overseas Fall trek with Perturbator and Health begins on 6th October.

The Holocene Termination EP available now

Demonstealer, one of India's premiere death metal musicians, has revealed his new track 'What She Creates, She Will Destroy'. The single is taken from his new EP The Holocene Termination, out now.

Sahil Makhija, better known as Demonstealer, has long been one of the pillars of the heavy metal scene in India. From being at the vanguard of a fledgling metal scene to becoming one of its most visible and respected proponents today, Demonstealer is integral to the growth of the Indian metal community.

In 2000, Demonstealer formed Demonic Resurrection, one of India’s best known and biggest metal bands. Over the last two decades the band has become one of the most recognizable faces of Indian metal, nationally and internationally. Also in 2000 he established India’s first recording studio dedicated solely to metal - a home to all of the country's top metal bands.

Five years later he launched Demonstealer Records – India’s first metal record label. The roster included the best in India’s burgeoning metal scene, and licensed internationally renowned acts, including Behemoth and Dimmu Borgir. Demonstealer also founded and ran Resurrection Festival, alongside Demonic Resurrection bassist Husain Bandukwala. For years it was India’s only dedicated extreme metal festival. Needless to say, Demonstealer’s impact on the national scene cannot be overstated.

Aside from the success of Demonic Resurrection (5 studio albums, Metal Hammer Golden God award, multiple tours and festivals across UK and Europe), Demonstealer’s solo career is notable. From his debut album And Chaos Will Reign (2008) to 2021’s The Holocene Termination, Sahil has been blazing a thunderous solo trail.

Occasionally however, even a tireless musician like Demonstealer must call in outside forces. The guest appearances on The Holocene Termination are highly impressive, including Eugene Ryabchenko (Fleshgod Apocalypse), Anton Zhikharev (Gorgasm), Simon Schilling (Marduk), Robin Stone (The Amenta, Norse), and Jeff Hughell (Six Feet Under).

The range of talent on display is undeniable – all contributing to a thrilling near-20 minute ride from a highly significant musician.

Swedish symphonic metal heavyweights Tungsten release new single and announce album

'Come This Way' streaming now

Bliss LP released 17th June via Arising Empire

Swedish symphonic metal quartet Tungsten have released their new single 'Come This Way', taken from their third album, Bliss, due for release 17th June via Arising Empire.

Watch the video to 'Come This Way' here: https://youtu.be/j99DncpPFfY
Pre-order Bliss here: https://tungsten.lnk.to/bliss

The catchy, melodic and mid-tempo song, 'Come This Way', incorporates synths and stomping heaviness. The accompanying music video, directed in Stockholm by Ted Lindén, uses spooky visuals to make for a stark contrast. On the new single, vocalist Mike Andersson comments:

"It’s also a bit different to the rest of the album but, on the other side, all songs are quite different to each other in a nice way".

The quartet's third offering is their heaviest and darkest album to date, with the typical ingredients that define Tungsten's music also breaking new ground and exploring fresh territories. The hooklines are stronger and more dynamic, with lyrics taking a darker turn whilst still focusing on relatable themes. Andersson continues:

"It all came naturally. Creating and recording this album truly put us in touch with the feeling of bliss. Nick and Karl, who wrote the music, have really shown their skills and musical talents. Bliss explores new musical ideas but is still based in the genre that we established in the band from the beginning."

Bliss was recorded at Harm Studios, Trelleborg (Sweden). Nick Johansson once again took care of the mixing, mastering and production duties with the albums artwork taken care of by Andreas Marschall. Bassist Karl Johansson states:

"We really hope that Bliss will reach an even broader fanbase than before. So much pain, sweat and love has been put into this album so we're truly excited to introduce Bliss to the world".

Anders Johansson agrees;
"This album might be one of the hardest ones I've had to record. Nick is close to a perfectionist at the production helm, so if I can find something that has been good about the pandemic it might be the fact I could spend many more hours in the drum studio just to practise and develop my technique".

Tungsten are ready to enter the live scene in 2022 and are already confirmed for Oslo Metal Winter fest in Norway as well as Sabaton Open Air in August, 2022.

Tungsten were formed in 2016 when drummer Anders Johansson (Hammerfall, Yngwie J. Malmsteen’s Rising Force, Manowar) asked his sons Nick Johansson (guitars) and Karl Johansson (bass) if they were interested in starting a brand new band with him.

Tungsten's music has become synonymous with melodies, industrial power metal, and hints of Northern Folk music. Tungsten's first album, We Will Rise, was released in September 2019 with the track 'The Fairies Dance' close to passing 3 million streams on Spotify alone.

A year later, in November 2020, Tungsten released their second album, called Tundra. The song 'King of Shadows' was chosen as the first single, and has since gone on to become an anthem for Tungsten when performing live on stage.

Karl Johansson | Bass & Screams
Nick Johansson | Guitar

Led By Lanterns release debut album & new single 'Satellite'

Debut album Paralysis out today

Today (28th January 2022) alt-rock quartet Led By Lanterns release their long-awaited debut album Paralysis. Full to the brim with bouncy hooks, heavy riffs and soaring vocals, the 10-track release explores mental health in its many forms.

Lead vocalist Shaun Hill explains:

"This song is about over-thinking, something I really struggle with, and the depression it can cause. It references space, as in times like this it can often feel like you are a million miles away from reality. This song also touches on the pain it can cause to other people."

Stream/purchase Paralysis here: http://www.ledbylanterns.com

Led By Lanterns have announced rescheduled dates for their UK headline tour, with support from TRIBELESS. Originally confirmed for January/February, the shows will now take place in April due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

All-star quintet Imonolith release single featuring Jens Kidman of Meshuggah & annonounce new members

'The Reign' lyric video streaming now

Oswin Wong (Threat Signal) and Conan Freeman (Punchdrunk) join the band

All-star modern metal band Imonolith are back with new single ‘The Reign’, featuring guest vocals from Meshuggah legend Jens Kidman. A remixed version of the track from their critically acclaimed debut album State of Being, ‘The Reign’ will appear on the upcoming Progressions EP.

Stream / purchase here: https://orcd.co/thereignremix

Jens Kidman's appearance is a huge endorsement for Imonolith, as he’s only been featured as a guest artist once before.

Drummer Ryan Van Poederooyen commented: “We decided to take one of our most popular songs, ‘The Reign’ from our debut album, State of Being, and do a remix of it as part of our upcoming Progressions EP, being released in March 2022. We saw the potential of how an industrial-type remix could sound and we felt this song deserved to be a standalone single. ‘The Reign’ features guest vocals by the mighty, Jens Kidman from Meshuggah. He absolutely killed it on his performance and that is yet another big reason why we felt this song deserved its own release as a revamped single."

On the lyrics and production, Ryan continues: "The song is about how modern society tries to influence you and/or tells you how to live your life, when truly you should always do what you love and love what you do, not what others want. As for the production, Jason ‘JVP’ Van Poederooyen did a phenomenal job with the remix. It’s massive sounding and has a cool industrial twist to it. We’re all pumped on how this remix turned out!”

Imonolith are pleased to announce new members Oswin Wong (Threat Signal) on guitar and Conan Freeman (Punchdrunk) on bass. They replace Brian Waddell and Scott Whalen who have both decided to step down from touring.

The single follows the band's stunning cover of Björk's 'Army Of Me', watch the lyric video here: https://youtu.be/Afe5NXbyM9A

Featuring drummer Ryan Van Poederooyen (Devin Townsend Project), Jon Howard (Threat Signal), guitarist Kai Huppunen (Methods of Mayhem, Noise Therapy), Imonolith are a collective of heavy-hitting players at the top of their game. Their 2020 debut album State of Being features special guest appearances from Jens Kidman (Meshuggah) and famed Swedish vocalist Johannes Eckerström and is made up of 10 hook-laden, riff-heavy tracks that centre around the theme of how people deal with various stages of life.

With extensive touring commencing April this year, you'll be hearing a lot more from this ferocious new act very soon.

Alternative outfit Miscreant release heartfelt new single 'Escape the Night'

'Escape the Night' streaming now

Alternative outfit Miscreant have released their latest single, the heartfelt and powerful 'Escape the Night'. The song explores themes of love and the dangers of one-sided passion, in the words of Simon Sinek, "love is giving someone the power to destroy you, and trusting they won’t use it."

Watch/stream 'Escape the Night' here: https://youtu.be/cFDbfRRnfGE

'Escape The Night' is centred on the common narrative of almost losing the person you love most in the world. Miscreant highlight the importance of love and how loving someone is taking a chance, as there is no guarantee it will work out.

Speaking on the storyline of the song, the band explain: "It talks about the protagonist imagining life without the person they love. They see the person they love moving on and wonders if, without them, they could continue to live this life anymore. The lyric ‘so come and find me escaping the night’ is the protagonist saying that without them, they will take their own life. The music video is built to focus on this ying and yang, highlighting the positive and negative mindsets that come with falling in love."

Born from major influences from the likes of SlipknotBring Me The Horizon, and Sleep TokenMiscreant create a strong message for the UK music scene by combining intense atmospherics with raw emotion. As well as eccentric live shows that captivate their audience like no other, Miscreant exhibit what really makes them stand out from the rest of the UK music scene.

Having appeared at such festivals as UK Tech Fest, Burn It Down, and Macmillan Festival, Miscreant have also performed alongside the likes of LoatheHolding AbsenceHacktivist and many more.

Now, after some time in the studio with George Lever (Sleep TokenLoatheHolding AbsenceMonuments), Miscreant are now ready to bring in a new age of music, unlike anything we have ever seen or heard before.

This is the driving force behind Miscreant.

Future Palace release video for new single 'A World In Tears'

New album Run out 10th June 2022 via Arising Empire

German post-hardcore trio Future Palace have released a video for their new single 'A World In Tears'. The track is the third single from their upcoming sophomore album Run, due for release on 10th June 2022 via Arising Empire.

Watch the video for 'A World In Tears': https://youtu.be/9uChyuRi8pA

Pre-order Run in various formats here: https://futurepalace.lnk.to/run

The world has never been a gracious place. But mankind has not longed for hope as much as it has in the last year and a half. 'A World In Tears' sees Future Palace confront present-day, long-term issues, in particular climate change and how it's been neglected for far too long.

Vocalist Maria comments:

"The lyrics represent the perspective of a person living in an almost completely ruined world in the near future. It is important for us to draw attention to the fact that one must act carefully here and now and not tomorrow, before it is too late.“

Guitarist Manuel adds:

"While writing 'A World in Tears' we were instrumentally influenced by electronic music and the retrowave genre. Carried by the 80s vibe, the track was created with both dark and rock oriented sides, that reflect the interplay between hope and despair."

One of the most aspiring post-hardcore acts in Germany, Future Palace signed to Arising Empire to release their debut album Escape in 2020, which garnered several million streams across streaming platforms.

Future Palace's sophomore album Run was produced by Julian Breucker (Beyond The Black) and mixed/mastered by Annisokay guitarist Christoph Wieczorek. Run explores the aftermath of a toxic relationship, how the struggle with your own salvation is only the beginning, even after escaping from a dramatic situation. Blending the rawness of Holding Absence, Spiritbox and While She Sleeps with the irresistible, sweeping sounds of Bring Me The Horizon and PVRIS, the visually stunning and vulnerable record sets these painful processes to atmospheric post-hardcore, portraying the ups and downs of emotion.

Future Palace will join Annisokay on their European tour in early 2022, before embarking on their first ever headline tour across Germany in spring 2022. Full dates here: https://future-palace.com/#tourdates

Irish noise-pop sixpiece THUMPER announce debut album and stream new single

'Overbite' streaming now

Delusions of Grandeur released 18th March via EMMS

Irish noise-pop / alt-rock sextet THUMPER have announced their hotly-anticipated debut LP Delusions of Grandeur, set to be released 18th March - much to the delight of their rabid fans and enthusiastic tastemakers alike.

The band have teased the arrival of their triumphant new record with the new single 'Overbite'.

Stream here: https://orcd.co/lqojbap

Pre-order Delusions of Grandeur here: https://orcd.co/j4a8pjo

Over the last two years the Dublin six-piece have been developing their sound and building an increasingly passionate fanbase. With a line up of two drummers and three guitarists, THUMPER’s maximalist wall of sound has long since set them apart in the booming Dublin music scene, and has them “punching like heavyweights alongside Fontaines DC and The Murder Capital” (Chris Hawkins, BBC Radio 6).

Delusions of Grandeur reveals THUMPER’s trademark penchant for saccharine melody and unabashed hooks, all the while set against their signature psych-drenched rumble. This harsh juxtaposition of sweet and caustic is where THUMPER thrive.

While Delusions of Grandeur features plenty of homages to classic alt rock such as Weezer, Pixies or The Dandy Warhols, it is also steeped in the influence of contemporaries such as Viagra Boys, King Gizzard, Shame and even Idles at their most psychedelic. At other points the sheer bombastic nature of its production recalls Irish psych alumni My Bloody Valentine on Loveless, or no wave veterans Sonic Youth on Daydream Nation.

Nowhere is this bombastic recording process more apparent than on the record's final act – the 20-minute Overbite Suite consisting of three songs recorded and performed as one long piece - this epic attempt at pushing past the mould of what a ‘song’ can be, in part justified by the album’s title.

Delusions of Grandeur however is not just a statement of musical intent. The LP's title refers to a struggle of self image, internal and external, and the existential maintenance that all of this implies. Frontman Leahy Furlong’s visceral and surreal lyrics obsess over the search for the ‘authentic self’ in a medium so steeped in pretentiousness.

This central tension mirrors and challenges the chaos of light and dark in the music itself, as the record continuously swings from light hearted to brutal, keeping the listener hooked the entire time.

While THUMPER remain 'Cult heroes' (Clash Magazine) in Ireland, the six-piece band are no stranger to international touring. They've already completed 3 extensive UK tours, a European tour, supported Fangclub, and appeared at festivals such as Groningen's Eurosonic Festival ('My highlight of Eurosonic. Epic! Such a massive, massive sound' Abbie McCarthy, BBC Radio 1), and Hamburg's Mucke Bei Dei Fische.

This volume of touring is no mean feat for a band who are only now releasing their first LP, but THUMPER are not resting on their laurels. 2022 will see THUMPER head to Reeperbahn Festival and Iceland Airwaves, amongst many others.

THUMPER are:

Oisin Leahy Furlong - Vocals, Guitar
Alan Dooley - Guitar, Backing Vocals
Alex Harvey - Guitar, Backing Vocals
Dav Campbell - Bass, Backing Vocals
Stevie D’Arcy - Drums
Benedict Warner-Clayton - Drums
