Since the release of their highly acclaimed and successful debut album, Resolve have been experimenting and exploring a more bare-bones sound, resulting in a special take on their own song 'Seasick Sailor (Alternate Version)'.

On the reworked version of the track, bassist Robin Mariat explains:

"We’ve never been afraid to show the softer side of our influences, but this alternative version of 'Seasick Sailor' is the most bare-bones we’ve ever been. Or at least it is for the first minute and a half, before it starts building into a full-on orchestra with a full orchestra arrangement. So probably not that bare-bones after all. But it sure was a lot of fun to put this version together and add another sonic layer to the BMATM universe!"

On the album overall, Robin continues:

“It’s about finding your own place within a world that is becoming more and more dominated by machines. We are part of the last generation that grew up without the Internet. Even though it feels natural to us, it’s also easy to still feel a little bit lost.”

Vocalist Anthony Diliberto comments on their debut album:

"It’s hard to put into words what this record means to us. We’ve been working on it and doubting ourselves for what feels like an eternity now, but to see it finally see the light of day is so much more thrilling than it is scary. 'Seasick Sailor (Alternate Version)' follows the album's previous singles 'Forever Yours', 'D.G.G.R.S.', 'Surrender', 'Emerald Skies', 'Beautiful Hell' and 'Seasick Sailor', which have all had strong support on Alex Baker's Kerrang! Radio Fresh Blood show.

Resolve are a band that have been savouring every second of their journey so far and biding their time - observing, learning, building - and making sure that every single aspect of how they’ve wanted the band to function was fully realised before delivering it to the world.

Starting their journey back in 2016 after their previous projects parted ways and their intentions set on this being their forever band, vocalist Anthony Diliberto, bassist Robin Mariat and drummer Nathan Mariat have spent the last half a decade tinkering with the formula that feels the most suited to them. Making their first mark in 2017 with debut EP Reverie, before following with standalone single ‘Carmela’ in 2018, it wasn’t until 2019 that they felt truly at home in their sound.

That was in the form of Pendulum, a collection of three songs that not only represented the beautifully bludgeoning and densely expansive sound that was resting in the back of their heads, but also found them appearing on Spotify’s New Core, New Metal Tracks and Kickass Metal playlists.

When looking out for each other and soul searching feels more crucial than ever before, Resolve have put together a record that transcends borders altogether. They've created a universe littered with as much darkness as light and as much hardship as hope. Between Me and The Machine feels like just the beginning of a truly spectacular voyage to the stratosphere, but right now, it is the sound of a band making the most brutally honest and beautifully human music they can.

In the words of Ithaca: "Making this video was one of the hardest but most creatively fulfilling things we've ever done as a band. We shot in multiple locations over multiple days, we stripped down to our underwear, we swallowed fake blood - we put everything into it!

"The video is about reclaiming power - our main location was in a stately home of the British landed gentry, to create a contrast between us and the colonial imagery on the walls, representing us kicking down doors and taking up space. The visuals are influenced by experimental cinema, religious iconography and pre-Raphaelite paintings. We set this level of ambition to announce ourselves as an unapologetic, inescapable force in the heavy music scene - you will fear us."

Ithaca are one of the most exciting and vital voices in the UK heavy scene currently. Formed out of a mutual love of metallic hardcore but despair at its lack of ambition, Ithaca exist to challenge everything you thought a band that makes heavy music should look and sound like.

A glitter-covered nailbomb, Ithaca seamlessly blend the brutality of Relapse Records metalcore with blackgaze, 90s industrial metal, 70s prog and even tinges of 80s power pop. Conjuring old-school flavoured thrash metal devastation with the kind of bombastic firepower that could wake the dead, Misfire creates more of a racket than bands twice their size, delivering song after song of unrelenting fury. It’s music that could have arrived in the thrash golden age of 1986, when bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Dark Angel, and Sodom delivered vital records. And yet Misfire is forward-thinking, injecting modern metal mastery into their brew for a powerful, timeless sound.  

Comments the band of new single 'Red Flag', “This song is the result of a series of incredibly challenging situations we have been in throughout our lives. This was one of the first songs written for Misfire and we are stoked to share it with you all! Raise your red flag!" 

Created in a small studio and engineered by bassist/vocalist Sean Coogan, the debut album for Misfire is free from click-tracks and other unnecessary frills, projecting the purity of what three musicians raised on Pantera and the Big 4 sound like in a room together. Sympathy For The Ignorant is heavy, confident, and filled with the kind of earworm thrash metal riffs that sends aspiring players to the guitar store.  

“The album is a sonically badass version of what you’ll hear live. It’s real, no fake shit,” drummer Nicademus says. “It’s very much a throwback to the way things used to be recorded. Like, just turn the shit on, press record, layer some stuff in after that, put some words on top of it, mix it, and it’s done.” 

Armed with the attitude and songs to follow in the footsteps of Slayer, Metallica, and Lamb Of God, the three men of Misfire are heavy metal lifers. “I started playing drums when I was eleven, and ever since, it’s all I talk about,” says Nicademus. “Jay and I started jamming together at ages twelve and thirteen.”  

In just a short couple of years, Misfire quickly shared the stage with thrash legends Sacred Reich and modern throwback bands like Iron Reagan and Warbringer. As long-running tastemakers Metal Crypt wrote in a review of Sympathy For The Ignorant, “these fellows are ready for the big leagues.”  

“Whatever happens, we’re going to be here for a long time because we can’t live without doing this shit,” Nicademus declares. “All we want is to make records, tour, and have a good time doing it.”

It’s kind of strange that it was written before the Covid epidemic because the song is basically what so many people went through in a metaphorical way during the shutdowns, loss of work, and social life. Things seemed so bad that no matter which way you turned it was the wrong direction. I wanted to express that there are people that feel that things are hopeless… but they do get better in the end. Your inner strength is there. It needs to be let out. I hope everyone enjoys the song. It is really one of my favorites.”

Today, Swedish saviours of heavy metal HAMMERFALL have released their latest video, 'Brotherhood', the third single from their forthcoming, much-anticipated studio album, Hammer Of Dawn (out 25th February via Napalm Records).

'Brotherhood' is a musical salute to their most loyal fans, The Templars Of Steel, who have stuck by the band through thick and thin. It’s also a heartfelt internal nod to each other, recognising the very close bond the band members have with each other, especially between guitarist Oscar Dronjak and singer Joacim Cans, whose brotherhood began way back in 1996.

Again, enlisting the help of seasoned video vanguard Patric Ullaeus to help them capture the essence of the song on film, together they have created a video that perfectly echoes the sentiment of the song itself and a video that will without a doubt thrill the very people that inspired the song itself, The Templars Of Steel. With the help of the band members' children, who steal the spotlight with their cameos in the video, it’s obvious that that bond of brotherhood isn’t just with the band members themselves – it’s also with their kids and their fans.

Singer Joacim Cans commented on 'Brotherhood': "A fantastic musical piece and album opener in honor of the greatest fans in the whole world: The Templars of Steel! We wouldn’t be here without you! The video for the song includes both ”The Metal Dads” and the ”HF Teens” and really shows how much fun we are having together both on and off the stage."

"Crunching alt-rock with a taste of grunge" - Clash

Alternative rock quintet, Psyence, are proud to unveil their new single, 'Domino'.

The first new music since March 2021's Reality or Design EP, 'Domino' is another scintillating offering from the Stoke-on-Trent group. Elements of Tame Impala, Kasabian and Psychedelic Porn Crumpets abound - a psych-drenched, grunge-inflected track of the highest order.

Psyence began as a collaboration between schoolfriends, all from the working-class background of the Potteries. The band released their debut EP in 2017, and their debut album in 2019 . 'Cold Blooded Killer' from their debut album featured in the hit US TV show SEAL Team in 2020. Two new singles were released in 2020, 'Tusk', and 'Retrospect', which formed part of 2021’s EP release.

Unable to tour for most of 2021 Psyence turned their attention to the studio, refining and expanding their sound. They made their live return at the Shiine Festival in November 2021 and have previously toured with Warmduscher, The Blinders, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, and Saint Agnes.

Of the new single, the band comment:
“This song is about your patience being tested, like once you've been pushed past that certain point there’s just no coming back. Call it a warning shot if you will, don't f*ck with me.”

Psyence are Steve Pye (guitar and lead vocals), Jay Bellingham (bass), Joe Walsh (drums), Ben Nixon (Keys) and Jamie Cartlidge (guitar and vocals). The 'Domino' single release is being celebrated with Psyence's first hometown headline show in two years, on Friday 25th February at Stoke's The Underground.
