'Beyond The Wall' is the second single taken from the band's new album Origins, out on 24th June via Season of Mist.

Frontman and mastermind Andy Marshall comments: "'Beyond the Wall' refers to the Antonine Wall which ran across the central belt of Scotland to keep the Caledonians/Picts at bay. The song is about their freedom, as they were not under Roman rule and the beauty and mystery of the lands beyond the wall."

SAOR, in Scottish Gaelic, pronounced [sɯːɾ], means free, without obligations, unconstrained. All of these characteristics intrinsic to the music of SAOR, the musical entity spearheaded by sole member Andy Marshall

A lone wanderer proudly telling tales and myths of his culture from the tops of misty Caledonian mountains, Andy has carved a solitary, yet strikingly inspiring path with SAOR ever since his first album Roots in 2013.

A decade on, Andy is set release his fifth full-length; a decade in which Andy and SAOR have almost single-handedly made us all feel a little bit like Scots at heart, regardless of our own individual origins. Such is the passionate and almost visual way that this musician delivers his profoundly atmospheric hybrid of black and folk metal, peculiarly described as Caledonian metal.

Written over the pandemic, fifth album Origins appeared as a result of these difficult times. And for their first album in three years, and their premiere for Season of Mist, we wouldn’t expect anything other than… the unexpected. A counter reaction of sorts to the more meandering and even “accessible” direction of the previous records, perhaps inspired by its main theme of the Picts (a group of peoples who lived in what is now northern and eastern Scotland during Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages) and their fierce battles, Origins comes across as a more raging, black metal-infused effort, copiously evocative in its imagery and even melancholic in places, but decisively strong and abrasive at the same time.

“This album is a lot more guitar driven,” Andy confirms. “During the pandemic I listened to a lot of classic heavy metal and I think you’ll hear the influences on the dual lead guitars and solos. I also wanted this to be my heaviest album with emphasis on the riffs. My harsh vocals have changed from deep growls to more of a black metal style. Since the subject of the album is the Picts, I wanted a pagan theme throughout, and so that aspect is a lot more prominent than in the previous albums. I also used instruments such as the Carnyx and tribal drumming to convey that feeling.”

One of the strongest songs on offer, the opener in fact, 'Call of the Carnyx', is in fact about the Carnyx itself, the ancient Celtic war horn, and it conveys like never before the feeling that it must have been to hear its resounding bellow, calling the Pictish warriors to battle. A moving homage to the legacy of the Picts, Origins guides us through their gods, their fallen heroes who died protecting their families and land, and what still remains of their identity in the Scottish people of today.

As much as we have food for thought assured and guaranteed entertainment and inspiration for the months to come as we listen to and explore Origins and its themes, its creator is naturally already moving on. Andy doesn’t need much to create the worlds SAOR albums inhabit, and his most powerful tool is always with him.

“I don’t need to be in one particular place to write or be inspired,” he explains. “I do have my own little office/studio in my home where I write music and lyrics, but it’s nothing special. My imagination is the most powerful tool for SAOR.”

Not only do we vehemently agree, we would even say that imagination is the most powerful tool, always, for everyone. The one untamed weapon we all possess and can use at all times. Free. Without obligations. Unconstrained.

Having risen from smoky basements to packed arenas, 1000mods can be considered no less than the most successful Greek rock band of the past decade.

Deriving equally from the glorious 90s and 70s (not only songwriting-wise but also due to their love for vintage equipment and analogue sound), 1000mods have never hesitated to blend all their influences. Retro, hard, doom, and space rock melded with grunge and alternative create a recipe of explosive heavy music that’s impossible to imitate.

1000mods offer inspired, powerful and uniquely fresh heavy tunes, satisfying everyone from stoners to metalheads. Their debut Super Van Vacation (2011) is now considered a classic in European heavy rock, as well as a game-changer for Greek rock music, selling tens of thousands of copies.

Praised by fans and press throughout the globe, the band's next release Repeated exposure to... (2016) affirmed their place within European heavy rock and roll. The band went on to tour the US in February-March 2018, following that with a sold-out tour of Australia.

Boasting millions of streams and fans worldwide, 1000mods kicked things up a notch with Youth of Dissent, a fearsome blend of taut songwriting, hard-hitting riffs, haunting melodies and hefty psychedelia. Produced by Matt Bayles (IsisMastodonSoundgardenPearl Jam, Botch and many more), and recorded at Litho Studio (owned by Stone Gossard, founding member of Pearl JamTemple of the Dog) and London Bridge Studio (where Pearl Jam’s Ten was recorded), Youth of Dissent is 1000mods' most mature record to date.

Tom, Jonas, Rikard, Johan, Rikard"

Purchase A Heartless Portrait (The Orphean Testament) here: https://lnk.to/AHP-TOT/napalmrecords

EVERGREY, led by founder, singer and guitarist Tom S. Englund, are known for wandering the realms of progressive and heavy melodic metal and painting sonic renderings with their 12 studio records released as of today. A Heartless Portrait (The Orphean Testament), the follow-up to the unit’s highly successful 2021 full-length, Escape of the Phoenix (which landed at numerous chart positions worldwide), reveals a 10 track mélange of which every note, every riff and every word seeps pure poetry – creating a ceaseless intensity that mesmerizes from the very first second.

The new album was recorded at Top Floor Studios Gothenburg, engineered by Jakob Herrman and produced by Tom S. Englund and Jonas Ekdahl, with mixing and mastering by Jacob Hansen at Hansen Studios (Volbeat, Destruction, Epica and many more), whereas the hauntingly beautiful album artwork was conjured by Giannis Nakos at Remedy Art Design. Nakos is known for creating artworks for acts like Oceans Of Slumber, Amaranthe, The Agonist and The Crown as well as merchandise for Morbid Angel, Suffocation or Cryptopsy – just to name a few.

EVERGREY on the new album:

“Here it is! A new album! Yet again! This is what we love about music, it never ends! Our mission is to write music so here you are! 10 new songs! 10 new EVERGREY songs that we hope you will have by your side as your life continues to shift and grow. 10 songs that we wish will be part of the soundtrack when you're creating new memories and new possibilities in your life. 10 songs that we feel privileged to have you listen to. 10 songs that have risen through the ashes of two years where our creativity has had more time than ever to flourish.

10 songs we really hope you will enjoy as much as we did writing them. As usual we have given it our best and we can't wait to hear what you have to say! A new year, a new album, a new record label = new possibilities. All this can only be positive, right?

 Enjoy!

Tom, Jonas, Rikard, Johan & Henrik”

A Heartless Portrait (The Orphean Testament) tracklisting:

1. Save Us

2. Midwinter Calls

3. Ominous

4. Call Out the Dark

5. The Orphean Testament

6. Reawakening

7. The Great Unwashed

8. Heartless

9. Blindfolded

10.Wildfires

A Heartless Portrait (The Orphean Testament) impresses with flawless, meticulous production that deftly depicts both heartfelt honesty and scorching metallic intensity, while its instrumental force of furious, technically driven riffs, skyrocketing solos and dramatic synths merges with the expert, brooding vocal performance of Englund – one of the most distinctive vocalists in metal. He skilfully balances harsh and heavy tones with an inarguably soulful approach, all topped by melancholic, thought-provoking lyricism that digs deeper with every spin, leaving a long-lasting impact. Songs like 'Midwinter Calls', which also contains fan participation with atmospheric audience recordings from the band’s latest tour through Sweden, and 'The Great Unwashed', draw the listener in with grooving, glistering instrumentation, flowing between boisterous dynamics and a next level vocal performance, while emotive 'Wildfires' turns the volume down as a goosebump-worthy ballad that hurts and heals all at once. 'Call Out The Dark' begins atmospherically with accented keys, suddenly evolving into an intense opus of symphonic and power metal attributes in the blink of an eye, whereas the record’s longest track, 'The Orphean Testament', impresses by revealing its heaviest facet. A sensitive introduction lures the listener into 'Heartless', and offers one of the album’s most engaging verses, followed by a hauntingly beautiful chorus and variety in pace to create a magnificent listening experience.

Any Given Day release cover of Scorpion's anthem of peace 'Wind Of Change'

Metal heavyweights Any Given Day have released a cover of Scorpion's anthem of peace, 'Wind Of Change', out now via Arising Empire.

Stream/purchase 'Wind Of Change' here: https://arisingempire.com/windofchange

'Wind Of Change' will be released on 7" vinyl on 17th June 2022 via the Arising Empire and Any Given Day webstores, with proceeds donated to TMR Refugee Aid Ukraine to help those in need. More information here: https://ukraine-tmr.lnob.net/

Guitarist/producer Andy Posdziech comments on their cover:

"It was like a flash of inspiration that shot through my head a few weeks ago when I read a report about Klaus Meine (singer of Scorpions) saying "It's time for a new 'Wind of Change'!". I knew for sure, he is absolutely right and I started working on the first demo version in my studio the same day."

The band add:

"When Andy showed us the first ideas, we were absolutely thrilled and we all agreed: we have to finish this! We recorded more demo versions and eventually got official permission from Klaus Meine to produce and release our own version of 'Wind Of Change'.

"Music is a universal language that connects us all, that everyone understands and that brings us closer together. Especially in hard times like these, we all have to stick together and take care of each other. This cover is our personal contribution to spreading hope and uniting listeners all over the world, also beyond Ukraine.

"For these reasons, we took the lyrics to the verses as the Scorpions did live on their US tour in April. With this we position ourselves very clearly against the war. This unnecessary war is absolutely incomprehensible to us, it leaves us stunned and we can all only hope and pray that it will end as soon as possible.

"We would also like to thank all the volunteers who give their best every day and expose themselves to great dangers to help the victims of the war.

"'Wind Of Change' has always been a distinctive anthem of peace. A hymn that accompanies each and every one of us throughout life. It is an unspeakable honour for us to be able to implement this piece of music history in our own style."

Formed in 2012, Any Given Day ignited interest with their 2014 debut My Longest Way Home (Official German Album Charts: #28). They continued to prove they were more than just an internet phenomenon with 2016’s Everlasting (Official German Album Charts: #14). The band went on to share stages of every size with the likes of Caliban, Bury Tomorrow, Trivium, and Suicide Silence, receiving euphoric reactions and rapidly growing their fanbase.

On their 2019 full-length Overpower (Official German Album Charts: #19), Any Given Day perfected their unique blend of unruly brutality, compelling melodies and unbelievable catchiness. Surrounded by the great musicianship of his fellow band mates, one-of-a-kind vocalist Dennis Diehl handles both growls and clean vocals, putting many others to shame with his distinct, epic vocal lines. The album is packed with pummelling, in-your-face modern metal and epic arcs of suspense, all wrapped up in an uplifting message.

Modern rockers Amongst Liars release music video for brand new single 'All Over Now'

Debut album Amongst Liars due 8th July

Modern rockers Amongst Liars have released a sci-fi-inspired music video for their latest single, 'All Over Now'. The track is the second to be taken from the band's debut self-titled record, due to be released 8th July.

Watch the video to 'All Over Now' here: https://youtu.be/XudSb3HAlHY
Stream 'All Over Now' here: https://linktr.ee/amongstliars

The sci-fi music video shows the band travelling to multiple locations in an attempt to find a sustainable planet.

On the inspiration behind the latest single, vocalist Ian George explains:

“'All Over Now' was written in response to the way powerful business people and leaders react to the increasingly important subject of climate change. There have been a lot of people seemingly ignoring the obvious and only getting involved when it helps their own gain. The UK government, for a start, are not clear and directive when it comes to measures that need to be taken by businesses (not that it comes as a surprise.) We feel there needs to be a lot more emphasis and importance put on the future of this planet, and sustainability talked about more openly and with more passion and purpose.”

Pre-order Amongst Liars here: https://earache.lnk.to/AmongstLiars

The self-titled debut album is produced by David Radahd-Jones (Heaven’s Basement, The Fallen State, The Cruel Knives, Death Blooms), and upon its release, will be accompanied by a UK tour.

On the new album, the band comment:

“Our self-titled debut album is a commentary on the world we currently live in, tackling issues such as abuse and bullying, war mongering for financial gain, poverty, greed, fake news, unjust and deceitful political misgivings, election fraud, human rights abuses and climate change concerns. But the message of the album is one of positivity and empowerment. There are a lot of inequities in this world, but people can and do get strength and take control, through challenging and standing up to abusers, politicians and general wrong doers.”

'All Over Now' doesn't just stop there though. The band will also be releasing two consecutive remixes over the coming weeks: a club remix and a rap remix. As vocalist Ian George explains:

“We decided that, for this single, we wanted to explore a multiverse of music and do B and C-sides, so have collaborated to produce two remixes of the song."

Eastbourne rapper Alpha Whiskey and DJ Jonny Jazz bring a south coast rap and scratch element to the song, giving it a Linkin Park vibe. Pihka Is My Name, a Finland-based duo, combine analogue synthesisers, hypnotic piano patterns and cinematic orchestrations on the club remix, just in time for summer.

The band continues:

"We are really excited for people to hear all versions and have loved mixing things up, experimenting and showing what is possible when you work a song with different artists. People are so quick to label music these days and we love bringing different elements into our sound, showing that there can be way more to being a modern rock band!”

Eastbourne/Brighton based Amongst Liars formed in early 2020 and play a unique blend of energetic, modern rock, taking influences from bands and artists such as Audioslave, Royal Blood, Rage Against the Machine, Bring Me The Horizon, Slaves, Jack White, Biffy Clyro, Shinedown, Cleopatrick and Queens of the Stoneage. Lyrically the band speak about modern life, tackling issues such as mental health, homelessness, fake news and government failings.

To date they have released six extremely well received singles amassing over 200k Spotify streams, as well as strong video views across all platforms, widespread support and plays from BBC Introducing, Kerrang!, Primordial and countless national and local radio stations. They recently won the prestigious Great Music Stories ‘Band of the Year 2021’, voted for by listeners across the year and they finished 2021 with an eight date UK headline tour.

Greek noise rockers Krause release new single/video 'Talentless But Connected'

The Art of Fatigue is out now via Venerate Industries

Greek noise rockers, Krause, are celebrating their album release with a new single/video called 'Talentless But Connected'. Taken from their third full-length, The Art of Fatigue, which is out now via Venerate Industries.  The album represents another switch in the band's sound, delivering a scattered and relentless listen which showcases their undeniable presence and sonic expression.

Watch the full video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Us8svrcI6Bg

Order The Art of Fatigue here: https://www.venerateindustries.store/krause

Comments the band on the new single: "Τhis song is a record of and reaction to what the last few years have felt like for us. We're calling it like we see it, pure anger and frustration at the manipulation and decline we have all been subjected to."

Heavy-as-all-hell Athens, Greece noise rock quartet Krause emerged in 2016, exploding onto an unsuspecting scene with the release of their debut LP 2am Thoughts (Riot Season, 2017). Following in 2019 came the the equally well received The Ecstasy Of Infinite Sterility, a brutal, sparsely melodic monolith of an album. In 2020 the band released The Vague Outlines of Almost Recognisable Shapes/The Fraternity of Lost Men-Children 7-inch, which served as a harbinger of things to come. Two monumental slabs of uncompromising sonic violence gave an inkling of where Krause’s future sound was heading.

Featuring veterans of various scenes and genres (active and past members of VULNUS, Cut off, Rita Mosss, Casual Nun, Progress of Inhumanity, Dusteroid and Straighthate), Krause play AmRep/Touch and Go inspired heavy noise rock and put on an equally unforgiving live show to go with it.

Now, with their brand new full-length The Art of FatigueKrause are ready to lay down the next chapter in their noise-riddled, twisted, devastating course and meticulously take apart every single one of your expectations. The savage full-length may be the band's archetypal statement of intensity and despair made sonic.

On the album, the band comment:
"The tracks are essentially about urban decay and our disgust with politics, society and human life amidst the pandemic and the ongoing crisis. We are all rather misanthropic and pessimistic as people, so our lyrics tend to either be stories of urban isolation or reflect our disappointment with our own selves and humanity under capitalism. Our opinions were confirmed by the financial crisis and the resultant global situation, so I don’t see our themes changing any time soon.

"When we started Krause, all we wanted was to create an atmosphere and tone more than follow a style or genre. In our case, this harks back to the Amphetamine Reptile or Touch and Go bands which were characterised more by an attitude than a cohesive style or sound. As a result, the reference points that we do share (Unsane, Cherubs, Breach, Entombed, Cursed, Hammerhead, Killdozer, Helmet, Shellac, Today is the Day, Melvins, Whores, Gnod, Part Chimp etc) have more to do with a certain attitude and approach to music rather than the act of songwriting itself."

Upon A Burning Body drop 'Code of Honor' single / video

New album Fury out now via Seek & Strike

Upon A Burning Body have dropped new single 'Code Of Honor' with a stunning music video, taken from their crushing new full-length, Fury, out now via Seek & Strike.

Watch 'Code Of Honor' here: https://youtu.be/niTPXGm9h3M

New album Fury is aptly titled and is the band’s most ferocious offering of their storied career. It continues in the vein of Southern Hostility and showcases the band refining their signature sound with an added layer of heaviness. The new addition of Thomas Alvarez (bass, backing vocals) was the final element that helped craft this American Heavy Metal masterpiece. If you dig Lamb of God and Pantera, then this is right up your alley.

Watch the video to previous single 'A New Responsibility' here: https://youtu.be/jph_d7ICo4s

Ruben Alvarez (guitar) states: "After listening to the complete album we knew we had created something that represents what the band stands for on and off stage. Fury is a whole new monster. We’ve always been a band that experiments and Fury is definitely the stamp we needed on our own signature sound. We brought in elements from our first three albums and mixed them with our last two. If you like the heavy rifts from Red, White and Green or the groove of Southern Hostility, then you are going to be stoked on this!

"The biggest change on this album is
Danny and my younger brother, Thomas Alvarez. Now having three biological brothers writing and performing together, what more can you ask for? Thomas has already brought so much to the table; helping us as a song-writer since Southern Hostility and now adding another vocal element. He has brought a ton of fresh ideas and writing has never been easier.

Upon A Burning Body have been through a lot of changes throughout the years and we have come full circle back to our roots. We are ready to keep pushing forward on our albums and live performances. Fury is definitely a huge step for us to show the world that we are here to stay and American Heavy Metal is alive and stronger than ever!"

Drag Me Out (ex-Asking Alexandria) stream new single 'Crystal Arms' and announce new album release date

Album postponed due to war in Ukraine

Demons Away album now set for 26th August via Lödereih Music

Eastern European emotional metalcore quartet Drag Me Out, featuring Ukrainian frontman and former vocalist of Make Me Famous and Asking Alexandria, Denis Stoff, have returned with new single 'Crystal Arms'. Rescheduled due to the war in Ukraine, the band have also announced a new release date for their album Demons Away on 26th August, via their own label imprint Lödereih Music.

Stream / pre-order here: https://dragmeout.lnk.to/CrystalArms

Stoff comments on the single: "'Crystal Arms' is about fighting your biggest enemy and this time it was something that resided inside of me for years. It wouldn't let me breathe, sleep, feel, live, love. This song was an ultimate cure for the itch that swallowed me. Sometimes all sorts of sh*t like depression and anxiety just finds you and start haunting you, and you just need to find your way out. I found mine through this song. I hope it will help more people who are currently suffocation under their own skin."

The new single follows 'Bullets In My Teeth', watch the video here: https://youtu.be/7j7xVIy35jg

The upcoming album Demons Away is part one of a three-part concept album and continues from where their previous release Pressure left off. 12 new songs filled with huge chunky riffs and punchy rhythms, tight grooves with soaring melodies and infectious hooks, this is a record guaranteed to start a mosh pit on the dance floor or in your living room.

Stoff on the new album Demons Away: “It is soaked in the paranormal vibes. Your spiritual journey begins here and now. Our main purpose is to shed the light on the things that really make you feel bad, anxious, weak or wrong. It is our call for you to face the pain and explore it at its energetic core as the truth lies deeper than it might seem. My demons truly showed me that they are in fact always standing somewhere in between my perception of life and the ultimate truth about our world.”

French tech-death masters Exocrine release new video/single 'Dying Light'

LP The Hybrid Suns due 17th June via Unique Leader

French masters of technical death metal, Exocrine, have released their second single 'Dying Light',  taken from their forthcoming new full-length album The Hybrid Suns which is set for release via Unique Leader Records on 17th June.

The Hybrid Suns is the career-defining fifth record from the Bordeaux-based group, a concept album studying the voyage between life and death, and showcases a jaw-dropping level of musicianship. Continuing to push the boundaries of extremity and precision playing, Exocrine are the bridge between the ferocity of Archspire and Cryptopsy, and the potent progressive leanings of Obscura and Gorod.

Comments the band on the new single: "Here comes our brand new single 'Dying Light' from our upcoming album Hybrid Suns. It reveals a little more about the album concept, some links will start to appear. Still on high speed as usual but we focused on the more melodic aspects which includes an important female vocal part. Thus we tried to accentuate the contrast, to amplify the feeling of distress and the dramatic side in connection with the concept."

Written and produced by guitarist Sylvain Octor-Perez, the album was recorded at Triceraprod Studio and mastered at Roadster Lab, with the album artwork created by concept artist Tania Sanchez-Fortun

Since their inception in 2013, Exocrine have cemented their reputation as one of France’s most fearsomely technical and revered acts, beginning life as the brainchild of prolific guitarist Sylvain Octor-Perez.

Their 2015 debut Unreal Existence (Great Dane Records) caught the attention of keen-eared aficionados; not content to rest the band immediately set to work on their profound second record, Ascension, released 2017, again via Great Dane Records. Anchored in a sci-fi universe supported by a spatial sound design and cinematographic atmosphere, Ascension expanded on their trademark technical and brutal riffs, flowing melodies and sumptuous solos.

Determined to grow within technical death metal, Exocrine joined Unique Leader Records for the release of their third album Molten Planet in 2018, taking their sounds to the stage across Europe and Japan with bands such as The Faceless, Obituary, Obscura, Archspire and more. Maelstrom, the bands transcendental fourth album followed in 2020, pushing the genre to its outer limits, exploring extreme tempos, technicality and brutality with a progressive approach and Synth Wave inspired synths.

Now with their fifth offering due for release in June 2022, The Hybrid Suns is the sound of a band hitting their full potential, intent on carving out their own style within the realms of technical death metal. With a sound unlike anything else, Exocrine are the masters of intricate technical experimentation and The Hybrid Suns is a formidable offering.

Catch the band live at Hellfest, France in June with further tour announcements to follow.
