New album JULI due for release 29th July 2022 via Arising Empire

German rock quartet blacktoothed have released a video for their dreamy new single 'Between You & The World'. The track is taken from the band's upcoming album JULI, due for release on 29th July 2022 via Arising Empire.

Pre-order/pre-save JULI here: https://arisingempire.com/juli

With a calm verse that leads to an energetic chorus and screaming guitar solo, 'Between You & The World' blends elements of a classic rock ballad, while the lyrics explore the worries and fears of society today.

Hendrik explains:

“The song actually has a great story to it, since it holds our beloved five-minute guitar solo. The song really got flipped around in the studio and originally didn’t have a solo, but then when we needed one, Matti had to write one on the spot. Took her five minutes.”

Produced by Annisokay guitarist Cristoph Wieczorek and Julian Breucker at Sawdust Recordings studio, JULI is blacktoothed narrowing their style. “Recording JULI was a funny three-way experience, involving three different recording sessions over the course of two years, changing band members, finally getting the flow in our songwriting process and, of course, lots of bad jokes and food with our producing team (cheers!) - to sum it up, we might finally know what we are doing musically,” David, Matti and Hendrik recall.

“With JULI, our main concern is to create awareness that we carry a lot of potential to change the lives of our loved ones for the worse, but at the same time recognise how we might be able to help those affected.”

blacktoothed stand out from the crowd, combining an array of stylistic elements from a variety of genres. JULI is characterised by the band's unique combination of striking rock, filigree guitar work and catchy pop-hooks, with a hint of 80's inspiration.

Despite the inspiring and motivating times during their songwriting and recording process, blacktoothed long to be back on stage, as soon as the global pandemic allows. The band have previously performed at Impericon Festival and shared stages with Annisokay, Bad Omens, Hands Like Houses, Polaris, Thundermother, Acres and many more.

A one-of-a-kind proposition, the death-pop group combine blistering riffs, a hardcore attitude, and pop sensibility to create truly scintillating, invigorating music. Heavy hard rockers Daxx & Roxane share mysterious music video for 'Delilah' cover

'Delilah' streaming now

DROP EP available now

London-based heavy hard rockers Daxx & Roxane have revealed their new mysterious music video for their latest cover of Florence & the Machine's track 'Delilah'. The track is lifted from the band's brand new covers EP, DROP, out now.

Premiered by Emerging Rock Bands, watch 'Delilah' here: https://youtu.be/P9TvqDxRIeA
Stream 'Delilah' here: https://push.fm/fl/delilah

The cinematic music video follows a couple who discover a relic hidden in the sand along the banks of the Thames, by which point a magic door transports them to another time and location. A group of menacing entities interrogate the couple over the relic, the key they found on the beach being the only thing the evil entities care about.

Stream DROP EP here: https://push.fm/fl/drop-ep

The band comment on the release of the new single: "The dreamlike and powerful vibe of this track is what you get when you mix the charm and delicateness of Florence & the Machine with the raw energy of more vintage acts such as Billy Idol or The Stooges. With this unpredictable mix of influences, we tried to come up with the recipe for a blistering foot-stomping cover of the 2015 hit."

'Delilah' follows Daxx & Roxane's previous releases: covers of Sammy Hagar's 'Heavy Metal', Stevie Wonder's 'Superstition' and Téléphone's legendary track 'Argent Trop Cher', the first ever to be translated into English. Of the brand new EP, drummer Luca Senaldi explains: "This EP is our creative release in between albums. It's a way for us to exercise the music that inspired us and also to experiment with new recording techniques at our home studio. We didn't want to go for any obvious covers so we learned more than a 100 songs and ended with these four tracks that really stood out in our style."

The quartet started off as a thrash metal band and eventually found their sound in the New Wave of Classic Rock scene with their debut EP 4X4 (2016)first full-length album Ticket to Rock (2017), and the swaggering self-titled follow-up in 2020. Garnering support and attention from Planet Rock, Emerging Rock Bands and more, the band have also shared their explosive live performances on stages at Bloodstock FestivalHard Rock HellMontreux Jazz FestivalRockin' the Bowl, and have supported the likes of HIMBiters, and Bad Touch.

Irish dark metallers Darkest Era announce new album and release first single

Wither On The Vine due for release 30th September via Candlelight Records

Video 'Floodlands' streaming now

Irish dark metallers Darkest Era have announced their third album, Wither On The Vine, is set for release on 30th September via Candlelight Records.

Check out first single / video, ‘Floodlands’ here: https://youtu.be/VpUiifrBqqQ
Pre-save the album here: https://darkestera.lnk.to/WitherOnTheVine

Guitarist Ade Mulgrew comments: “'Floodlands' is about human tragedy, and empathy in the face of chaos and despair. It was particularly inspired by the horrifying images and accounts we've seen over the last years of people forced to flee their homes and their lives in the face of war, famine, persecution and climate change. Following the outbreak of war in Ukraine the themes prove to be, sadly, ever relevant. We hope the song resonates with listeners with it's crushing drive and sweeping melancholy."

The haunting video for 'Floodlands' was filmed on the north coast of Ireland against the wild and windswept backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean. Director Anais Mulgrew comments: "Floodlands is the first of a series of three music videos written around the vision that Darkest Era’s new album brought to my head. The neverending tragedy of life, brought to the scale of the gods themselves. Everything withers, everything ends, while grief goes on forever, and the mourning creatures depicted in the video will work until the end of times as surely as the waves will keep crashing on the cliffs."

It has been eight years since Darkest Era’s last album, 2014’s Severance. In that time, the Northern Irish-centred band have undergone personal and personnel changes, while the world itself has entered its own new dark era. Now, they return with their third album, Wither On The Vine.

Recorded at Wales’ legendary Foel Studios with producer Chris Fielding (Electric Wizard, Primordial, Winterfylleth, Witchsorrow), it finds the band taking their shadowy take on the traditional heavy metal sounds of Iron Maiden and Thin Lizzy, and adding elements of doom, black metal, blackgaze and anything else that casts a musical shadow. Expanding their horizons with where their sound could go on Withered On The Vine, guitarist Ade Mulgrew says it could best be described as simply “dark metal”.

Speaking on the album, Ade adds: "The album presents a bleak reflection of the world as it stands today; politically, socially, environmentally. Among themes of human tragedy and personal introspection, there are also songs touching on pagan spirituality, the Dionysian perspective and even gothic romance. Stylistically the album mixes black metal and doom metal elements with an almost classic rock sense of tone. We hope the album resonates with listeners seeking music with genuine power and emotional weight, pulling them into its dark visions."

After a long absence, far from withering away, Darkest Era have returned as experts in their craft, and made a definitive dark metal statement.

Brady Deeprose (guitars, vocals) comments: "'Cracks' is probably the biggest departure from our previously established sound - the working title was 'Ballad'. For me this is the most affecting track on Páthos, I connect more with it on every listen, and I think it opens up a new element to the band's identity that will be important moving forwards. The video reflects the themes of the track and was captured on the Scottish coast: the breathtaking landscapes evoke the atmosphere the song is trying to capture, and we're blown away by the finished piece."

Thu 03.11.2022 UK Leeds Key Club
Fri 04.11.2022 UK London The Dome

Páthos is not an album for the half-hearted or faint-hearted. Elements of Sumac, Gojira, old Mastodon and Oathbreaker, the new record is a multi-layered beast – sludge, death, doom, black metal and hardcore influences clash and collide throughout, all masterfully finished by Will Putney’s exquisite mix and master.

The fifty-minute runtime of Páthos is not without its moments of the sublime, with post-metal nods to Conjurer and Pijn’s acclaimed Curse These Metal Hands project throughout.

Conjurer’s debut full-length Mire (2018) was released to a storm of attention from across the metal world, garnering significant acclaim from Metal Hammer UK, Kerrang!, BBC R1, NME, Visions Mag (DE), MetalSucks, Metal Injection, Loudwire and many more. Recipients of award nominations (Kerrang!, Heavy Music Awards, Metal Hammer’s Golden Gods) and countless albums of the year lists, Mire is a stunning listen, capturing the attitude of a young band who already know exactly who they are.

Hailed as one of the metal world’s most devastating, thrilling experiences, Conjurer are a band never content to rest. Following Mire’s release in 2018 the quartet soon toured Europe for the first time, appeared at multiple UK festivals, and support of doom titans Conan and Will Haven.

In the following years the band have toured the US twice, supporting Rivers of Nihil (stopping to record an Audiotree session along the way), and then Voivod, with Revocation. 2019 also saw Conjurer’s debut Download Festival appearance, thrilling a packed-out Dogtooth stage, and the release of the joyous collaborative project with Pijn, titled Curse These Metal Hands.

It was only at the end of 2019 that Conjurer closed out their triumphant Mire cycle, with a sold-out UK run – their debut headline tour. Using the COVID-19 pandemic to record and craft Páthos, Conjurer returned to the live setting performing at the Download Pilot 2021 and Bloodstock 2021 mainstages.

Kataklysm frontman Maurizio lacono launches solo project INVICTUS with new single

'Exiled' video streaming now

INVICTUS, the new solo project led by Maurizio Iacono, today unveils a video for 'Exiled'. Premiered via Metal Injection, the stand-alone single serves as the first taste of what’s to come from the as-yet-untitled new full-length, set for release later this year via MNRK Heavy.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/CkOFVRsw1Tc

Well-respected as the singer of Kataklysm and Ex Deo, head of Hard Impact Artist Management, founder of Distortion Music Group, and co-owner of hard-and-heavy booking agency Continental TouringIacono delivers dynamic new layers of heaviness and melody with his latest creative vehicle. A Latin epithet for various Roman deities, “Invictus” translates to “unconquered” or “invincible,” a theme present throughout Iacono’s latest output. “I’ve explored many facets of the music business, from performing, writing, and producing to managing,” he explains. “But I’d never explored that deep down energy inside my thoughts which drives me to compete and, in many ways, survive everything thrown at me.”

Iacono comments on the new single: "‘Exiled’ deals with feeling completely disconnected with your surroundings and society in general, where nothing is logical to your understanding of life, and in return standing your ground for what is real to you and makes sense to your life and survival. The song is personal to me on more than one level, but people can interpret this how it fits best their own world, it has an open concept “

Iacono stands among the most prolific and hardest working soldiers of the metal underground. With INVICTUS, the frontman tackles a new personal quest, exploring a deeper and more personal outlook on his upbringing and the struggles within and around him. Iacono executes his vision alongside long-time collaborator J-F Dagenais (guitarist for Kataklysm and Ex Deo), producer/main songwriter Chris Clancy (Mutiny Within), and powerhouse drummer Jeramie Kling (Venom Inc., Inhuman Condition). Stand by for further details on INVICTUS to be revealed in the months to come.

Co-organiser Catherine Jackson comments: "Up until a couple of weeks ago, we were starting to think that we would not get hit by any last-minute 2022 rescheduling, but like many similar events we had one and it quickly became a few. Given the current circumstances, it is understandable and we hope to welcome those acts back in future editions.

"However, we’ve booked some fantastic bands to fill the gaps and we are delighted to welcome
Soen, ten56., Port Noir & Mike Dawes to Radar Festival 2022.

"Sadly, it wasn’t to be this year so we will not be welcoming Intervals, Car Bomb and Nick Johnston from the US and Canada. Unprocessed received an offer they could not refuse; supporting Polyphia in America (can’t argue with that…) and finally, Shokran cannot make it due to the terrible ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

"Due to logistical reasons, Siamese and Time, The Valuator have swapped days on the main stage and The Scratch and Pintglass have swapped after party nights."

With their mixture of international talent and confirmed homegrown success, Radar Festival position themselves as champions of forward-thinking guitar-led music. Launched in 2019 to acclaim, with performances from Animals As Leaders, Agent FrescoRolo Tomassi and more, the new festival is already making a claim as one of the UK's most exciting progressive music events.

AVIANA vocalist opens up about suffering abuse in new single / video

Corporation album out 3rd August via Arising Empire

'Anomaly' video out now

Swedish alternative metal act AVIANA have released a video for new single 'Anomaly', a deeply personal track where vocalist Joel Holmqvist opens up about experiencing mental abuse. 'Anomaly' is taken from new album Corporation, out 3rd August via Arising Empire.

Watch the video to 'Anomaly' here: https://youtu.be/1L_JcQhfTCQ

Stream here: https://aviana.lnk.to/anomaly

Frontman and bandleader Joel Holmqvist commented "The word ‘Anomaly’ is described as “something that deviates from what is standard, normal or expected”. I was mentally abused for two years, something I didn’t wanna write about at first but I felt that I kind of had to. This calmer song was the one I could do that on. Telling the story about being drained and losing all will to live is hard. But I feel it’s necessary to do so. You should never expect to be abused in anyway by anyone and never ever think that it is normal. I hope this song might help someone else get out of an abusive relationship or get through a tough time in life."

AVIANA made a big impact on the global metalcore scene with their return in February 2021. Led solely by vocalist Joel Holmqvist as a consequence of past members leaving the band, Holmqvist has exceed all expectations and taken the band further down the path for greatness.

Previous single 'Obsession' released in January made it into the headlines, placing the band at the number one spot on Spotify's biggest Metalcore playlist New Core and later on also featured on the Top Of The Core playlist on the same platform. Being picked up by all major digital streaming platforms such as Apple Music, Amazon Music, Youtube Music and Deezer affirms the band as one of the most important in their scene.

'Anomaly' and 'Obsession' follow previous singles 'Transcendent', 'Rage', 'Oblivion', 'Overcome' and 'Retaliation'

Speaking on the album, Holmqvist concludes: "there is an album coming in August, finally. But I never wanted to have people sit around and wait for new AVIANA music. Instead I’ve been working continuously to try and get new stuff out there for the fans. You should consider this album more of an ‘Collection of Singles’ rather than something else. There will be new songs on the album which haven’t been released yet, but also songs that we’ve already put out since 2021 will be on the album.”

LostAlone announce long-awaited fourth album 'The Warring Twenties'

The Warring Twenties out 30th September via Dharma Records

Band supporting My Chemical Romance on reunion shows this month

Hyper-melodic, epic rock trio LostAlone have announced their long-awaited fourth album The Warring Twenties, due for release on 30th September 2022 via Dharma RecordsThe Warring Twenties marks LostAlone's first album since 2014's Shapes of Screams

Pre-order/pre-save The Warring Twenties here: https://ffm.to/thewarringtwenties

The band have already released two energy-fuelled singles from the album:

'The Last Drop Of Forever': https://ffm.to/lastdropofforever
'Punchline Punched Back': https://ffm.to/punchline

LostAlone surprised fans with their return in March - eight years since they originally split.

Frontman Steven Battelle comments: "When we played our 'final' show I barricaded the doors to that version of me and, without looking back, walked away into a future of unknowns. Two solo records and an EP later in the pre-pandemic world of 2019 I felt a looming presence, a constant barrage behind me. A melodic paranoia that I couldn’t shake."

Despite travelling the world to write country songs in Nashville and pop songs in LA, Battelle still dreamt of "fireballs of melody and incredible, stolen faces singing still-unwritten words back at me." Now, that dream has turned into reality.

A personal dystopia, The Warring Twenties was written and produced by frontman Steven BattelleLostAlone called upon a variety of friends to mix the songs: Greg Wells (The Greatest ShowmanDeftonesTwenty One Pilots), Rou Reynolds (Enter Shikari),  Adam Noble (Biffy Clyro, Placebo, Liam Gallagher) and Rich Collins.

Battelle continues: "Unbelievably this has been the most geographically diverse of anything we’ve done. Whilst isolating in my apartment during lockdowns, the record owes its existence to remote work in London, Derby, Los Angeles, Nottingham, Glasgow, Hastings and New York."

LostAlone returned to the stage this month for a sold-out hometown headline show at The Venue in Derby, followed by three shows supporting My Chemical Romance.
