New album Nail Below Nail will be released 8th July via Unique Leader Records

Brutal slam death-metallers Organectomy have released 'The Third Mutation', the second single to be taken from their forthcoming full-length album Nail Below Nail, which is set for release via Unique Leader Records on 8th July.

Pre-order the album here: https://orcd.co/nailbelownail

Nail Below Nail is a bludgeoning slab of slamming death metal which takes a deep dive inside a sadistic sci-fi horror tale of incomprehensible violence and destruction. Lyrically themed around visions of gore, excess, and torture, as well as the extreme lengths the human mind will go to when faced with entities beyond its dimensional perception. The album's monolithic riffs wrap themselves around endless realms of mountainous groove and atmosphere in an impressive demonstration of skill and songwriting that never compromises on brutality.

Once again the band teamed up with mix/master titan Miguel Tereso of Demigod Recordings with drums recorded by Troy Kelly at The Armoury Recording Studio in Wellington, New Zealand. Guitars, bass and vocals were recorded by Alex Paul and Sam McRobert. The stunning artwork was created by Par Olofsson and photography by Ollie Hudson.

Hailing from Christchurch City, New Zealand, Organectomy have been an unstoppable force at the forefront of New Zealand's slam and death metal scenes since first hitting the stage more than a decade ago.

Formed in 2010 Organectomy’s brand of ‘Brutal Slamming Death Metal' incorporates many aspects of the death metal spectrum, from old school to technical, fusing it with modern slam into a twisted, decimating cacophony of pure brutality.

Following a few early demos and an EP, the band released their acclaimed debut album, Domain of the Wretched in 2017 and then signed to Unique Leader Records. In 2019 the band followed up with the release of their sophomore album Existential Disconnect and embarked on a tour of the U.S.A and Canada.

Entering the studio in 2021 to begin work on their third album, Nail Below Nail will see release this year via Unique Leader, and with an added line up change, Organectomy are ready to forge a new era for the band.

Having shared stages with Fleshgod Apocalypse, Cattle Decapitation, Archspire, Aborted, Vulvodynia and many more and with a full touring schedule ahead of them, Organectomy are poised to give you a taste of the carnage yet to come.

HEILUNG means "healing" in the German language, and aptly describes the core of the band's sound. The 'amplified history' trio reach back into our collective past to present a truly immersive experience, leaving the listener at ease and in a relaxed state, after a magical musical journey that is at times turbulent.

HEILUNG reach far back in time to the Northern European Iron Age and Viking period to create the foundations of their sonic experience. The band utilises many means in their songs: from running water via human bones, reconstructed swords and shields up to ancient frame drums as well as bronze rings. It’s difficult to simply categorise a band that uses such a variety of influences, traditions, and instruments to create immersive soundscapes. Hence, the group settled on the description 'amplified history' to best describe their music.

When HEILUNG self-released Ofnir in 2015, the Danish band could hardly have anticipated the breakthrough success of their debut album. Spectacular live shows, strong critical acclaim, and a massive underground buzz added to the constantly high demand for this full-length led to HEILUNG’s new label Season of Mist re-issuing Ofnir in several collector's edition formats. HEILUNG's live album, LIFA (2017) was released in parallel.

The visionary three-piece continued gathering praise with their latest full-length Futha, released in 2019 which debuted at #3 on the Billboard Heatseeker charts and #4 on the Billboard World Music Charts in the United States, placing on a total of seven Billboard charts within the first week of its release. For the single 'Norupo' a music video was filmed at the Neolithic standing stones at Les Menhirs de Monteneuf in France, which can be viewed HERE.

The band’s music has been widely used in pop culture and transcends the traditional genre boundaries in music. Not only did leading television broadcaster HBO use their music in the trailer for the hit series Game of Thrones, HEILUNG’s sounds can also be heard in series like Vikings and Ragnarök on Netflix, as well as in the trailer for 2022's blockbuster The Northman.

Furthermore, the group has been collaborating with game studios for the soundtrack of several mainstream video games. In 2020, gaming company Ninja Theory and HEILUNG started to work on the soundtrack for their upcoming game, 'Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II.' The announcement trailer for the new game features HEILUNG's song 'In Maidjan,' which is taken from their debut album, Ofnir. Watch the trailer HERE.

Later, HEILUNG was invited to join in another video game collaboration with MY.GAMES and Booming Tech for the new season of the 'Conqueror's Blade' video game, 'VII: "Wolves of Ragnarok." The trailer for the game, featuring the track 'Galgaldr', can be found HERE. HEILUNG will also see their name being immortalised in one of the new combat map locations, which is now officially called ‘Heilung Fjord,’ and serves as a place for healing.

While the world came to a stop during the pandemic, the three-piece retreated into the studio to write and record the forthcoming album Drif. In classic HEILUNG fashion, all sounds are hand-crafted organically by the group. To create Drif, HEILUNG sought for forgotten songs, hand-crafted ancient instruments, and transcribed dead languages to spread messages of love and nature-respect. Drif will be HEILUNG's most immersive and successful work to date.

In their own words:

Drif means “gathering”. A throng of people, a horde, a crowd, a pack. In symbiosis with the album title, Drif consists of a flock, a collection, a gathering, a collage of songs, that much like little flames were seeking towards each other, to join, to bond, to create, and be greater together. This album has very clearly dictated its own path. Our attempts to tame it was repeatedly fruitless and once we came to this realisation, the creative flow surged forward with immense force. So much so that sometimes it felt like the songs wrote themselves. All the songs on Drif have their own stories. They have each their place and sense of belonging, with inspiration not only from Northern Europe, but from the ancient great civilisations.”

UK thrash / hardcore outfit Cage Fight stream protest video 'Guillotine' ahead of Jubilee

UK tours with Sepultura and Cro-Mags; Radar, Uprising and Bloodstock fests announced

Self-titled album out now via Candlelight Records

Hardcore / thrash / crossover band, Cage Fight, have released a video for protest song 'Guillotine', highlighting scandals and atrocities committed by the British monarchy, ahead of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The track is taken from their debut album, Cage Fight, out now on the Candlelight label.

Check out the music video for ‘Guillotine’ here: https://youtu.be/JxaX4QOgyQ0

Stream / purchase the album here: https://cagefight.lnk.to/CageFight

The band comment: "June 2022: A Britain where we have increased child poverty, citizens whilst predominantly working are forced to rely food banks and families choosing whether to eat or heat. In these times of record levels of inequality a decision has been made to celebrate an outdated institution that explicitly represents the wealth and class divide in this country. This is our protest.
Happy Jubilee."

One of the most furious hardcore records to emerge from the UK in years, the anger and frustration of Cage Fight’s self-titled debut album is the perfect catharsis for our times.

The album’s artwork – a grabbing hand with the Cage Fight logo tattooed on the palm - visually portrays the violent rage at the core of the band’s music. Legitimately tattooed by vocalist Rachel Aspe, a tattoo artist by trade, the process of creating the image is as impactful as the final artwork itself.

Metallic hardcore group Ithaca release stunning new Marie Antoinette-inspired video, 'Camera Eats First'

They Fear Us album due 29th July via Hassle Records

"An absolute beast" - Rock Sound
"Scarily good" - Kerrang!

Acclaimed UK metallic hardcore troupe Ithaca have released their stunning new single/video 'Camera Eats First', taken from their long-awaited second album, They Fear Us, due 29th July via Hassle Records.

Watch the incredible video here: https://youtu.be/8hk02Mf6SzE

Stream the single here: https://hasslerecords.ffm.to/camera_eats_first

Pre-order the album and stream the single here: https://orcd.co/theyfearus

The video for 'Camera Eats First' references Martin Scorsese's legendary short The Big Shave, with vocalist Djamila Boden Azzouz's makeup design a nod to Marie Antoinette and her attributed quote 'let them eat cake!'. The band comment: "With this video we're using stark contrasts to create a sense of pure unease - rococo indulgence meets clinical experiment, luxury with grotesque gorging, beauty with violence. The discomfort is designed to hold up a mirror to ourselves; in an era of self-surveillance and constant presentation, who is in control, who is the aggressor and, ultimately, are you devouring or is the camera devouring you?"

Ithaca are one of the most exciting and vital voices in the UK heavy scene currently. Formed out of a mutual love of metallic hardcore but despair at its lack of ambition, Ithaca exist to challenge everything you thought a band that makes heavy music should look and sound like.

A glitter-covered nailbomb, Ithaca seamlessly blend the brutality of Relapse Records metalcore with blackgaze, 90s industrial metal, 70s prog and even tinges of 80s power pop. Their influences stretch beyond the musical - this album comes with a clear vision and aesthetic: drawing from members’ different ancestral heritage, queer/non-conforming identities and iconic figures in avant-garde, new wave and post-punk culture.

Their upcoming second album They Fear Us is the sound of a band healing from trauma - standing in their own, unapologetic voice. Furious and wildly inventive while also being more coherent and accessible, this album will introduce Ithaca to a wider audience than they’ve ever had before. In the words of the band: ‘those who oppose us; your sins will catch up to you. You will fear us’.

Ithaca's 2019 lauded debut The Language of Injury was followed by their early 2020 tour with Grammy-nominated indie-rock band Big Thief, starting at London’s Hammersmith Apollo.

Press support from The Guardian, Pitchfork, BBC R1, Metal Hammer, Kerrang!, Rock Sound, Revolver, Decibel, BrooklynVegan, and performances with Bleeding Through, Jamie Lenman, Anaal Nathrakh, The Number Twelve Looks Like You, at Boomtown Fair and ArcTanGent Festival position Ithaca as a great hope in the future of new UK music. Ithaca have also appeared on Ed Gamble’s Spotify podcast ‘Lifers’, Sky News and BBC3.

UK melodic metal powerhouse Control The Storm unveil Bonnie Tyler cover ahead of Download Festival performance

Opening the second stage on Sunday at Download Festival 2022

UK melodic metal quintet Control The Storm return with a powerful cover of the Bonnie Tyler classic 'Holding Out For A Hero', released ahead of their performance at Download Festival 2022, where they open the second stage on the Sunday.

Stream on Spotify here.

Bassist / backing vocalist Paul O'Shea comments on the single: "We decided to focus on and record 'Holding Out for a Hero' because it transferred so amazingly well into our own musical style - it almost feels like one of our own songs."

On opening the Download second stage, guitarist Matt Smith comments: "Download is without a doubt a dream come true gig for us. Being able to share the stage with artists that we grew up listening to; artists that helped form who we are as musicians. Now it's our turn to take to that stage, put on one a hell of a show, and prove that's where we belong. "

Cited as one of the UK’s most exciting live acts, Control the Storm have emerged from the chaos of 2020 into a new era with a new stage production, new music and a pledge to rouse their fans old and new with their signature electrifying and grand performances both on stage and in the studio.

With touring and festival plans turned upside down and new album delayed due to the pandemic, the band still persevered and released their single 'Desire' in 2021 The single has proven to be the bands most popular release to date with support from over 600 radio stations worldwide and tens of thousands of online streams within the first month.

Matt Smith comments: “Managing to record and release 'Desire' was a miracle for us. It was this beautiful thing we managed to create whilst the world imploded around us. Music has always been important to us but never more so than now. This single was as much for us as it was for our listeners. It was our way of putting that year behind us, starting anew: It was us taking back control. It was our way of saying, “You can take everything from us, but we’ll only come back stronger.”"

Download Festival will mark Control the Storm's triumphant return to the stage, and with their long-awaited third album and soon to be announced tour plans for the autumn, this is a band who are set to make a big impact on the metal world in 2022.

Black metal synthwave duo Nighted stream new self-titled single

Credit: Manuel Vargaz Lepiz

New project of Ivo Henzi (Cellar Darling, ex-Eluveitie)

Nighted, the new genre-bending black metal synthwave duo, have streamed their third single, the eponymous 'Nighted'.

Stream 'Nighted' here: https://found.ee/nighted

Watch the video for 'Nighted' here: https://youtu.be/mRUq-KWi1Ow

Nighted are Ivo Henzi (vocals, guitars - ex-Eluveitie, Cellar Darling, Forest Of Fog) and Marc Petralito (synths, Appearance Of Nothing). One late and misty summer night, in the enforced lockdown of 2020, the two struck on the idea of mixing black metal with 70s-era synth, à la Blade Runner and Jean-Michel Jarre: and Nighted is the result.

'Nighted' is the third single from Nighted's forthcoming album Absence, released this coming Autumn. In the words of the group, it "is an ode to the night. A confession of love to all the wondrous, the awe and the deep abysses of the night." It follows their previous singles 'Acronyc' and 'Aeons'.

Absence was recorded, mixed and mastered by Anna Murphy (Cellar Darling, ex-Eluveitie) at Lucerne’s Sound Farm Studio, with drums performed by session drummer Dylan Watson (Kassogtha). Nighted are signed to the newly-formed heavy music label Klang Machine Records, co-founded by drummer and artist manager Merlin Sutter.

UK genre-defying quartet Borders sign with Arising Empire and stream new single

'Fade To Black' video streaming now

Arising Empire is excited to announce signing UK genre-defying quartet Borders and have released their debut single on the label, 'Fade To Black'.

Watch the video to 'Fade To Black' here: https://youtu.be/xtt7QQ61mCA

Stream here: https://arisingempire.com/fadetoblack

On the single, the band comment: "'Fade To Black' is about how social media, or all of the media we soak in on the daily is mind-numbing as a whole, and how we need to disengage in order to take back our minds before we become slaves to the system."

Borders combine ferocious, hard-hitting metalcore with elements of hip-hop, grime, hardcore and alternative metal, completed with a dash of introspection and brazen, no-holds-barred atmosphere. The quartet are a young but driven collective hellbent on taking the heavy music community by storm with an onslaught of thought-provoking, sinister and brutally aggressive tracks. Built around an impetus that obliterates any notion of single-genre classification in favour of an immersive yet punishingly heavy experience, Borders continually push the limits of what's expected from any band in the metalcore circuit.

From taking the UK’s live music scene by storm supporting legendary deathcore act Martyr Defiled on their last run to their immersive, conceptual and thought-provoking 2019 debut full length release Purify, the band are well on their way to making themselves a staple in the underground heavy music community - a goal sure to be achieved with their addition to Arising Empire’s ever-growing roster.

The band will be touring the UK with US rap-metal act, Dropout Kings. Dates:

16.07.22 - Plymouth, UK @ Junction

Swiss progressive death metal quintet Kassogtha reveal new single, 'The Infinite'

Credit: David D'Agostini

FFO: Arch Enemy, Lamb of God, Gojira

New album, rEolve, released Autumn 2022

Swiss progressive death metallers Kassogtha have revealed their stunning new single 'The Infinite'. 'The Infinite' is the third glimpse of new material from the quintet's forthcoming album rEvolve, released Autumn 2022.

Stream 'The Infinite' here: https://found.ee/kassogtha

Kassogtha are led by vocalist-lyricist Stephany, whose incredible command of growled and clean vocals help mark the band as future Swiss heavy music stars. A concept album, rEolve tells the story of an endless self-destructive cycle of fear, anxiety, and jealousy. In a world that normalises negativity, we have forgotten how to be happy — and following a pandemic-enforced long, hard look at humanity and society, this is Stephany’s journey of dealing with these emotions. This album is a perfectly timed release valve for two years of isolation, anxiety and grief — a furious expression of frustration at missing the things we love that help us get through difficult times.

Of 'The Infinite's lyrics, Stephany comments:

“It is right here, next to you, and it's taking you on a trip to your deepest fears and angers. Will you choose to follow the path it's trying so hard to draw you to? Oh you will... for sure. 'The Infinite' drags us into a world of uncertainty and madness. Only one thing shines in the dark and gives a little hope: a presence, imperceptible, which inevitably draws us towards a path that could be fatal, unless it's the deliverance we've been waiting so long for..."

Guitarist and songwriter Mortimer elaborates:

"This was the first song written in the rEvolve writing process. In fact, its first iteration was created when the band was working on their previous EP, The Call. 'The Infinite' is now one of the most brutal songs on the album. As the opening track, we wanted to let our audience immediately know what we are up to. Progressive death metal. The song grabs you by the throat with a no-fuss blast beat intro followed by chaos and intensity that barely stops until the end of the song."

Kassogtha band place authenticity and sincerity above smoke and mirrors: a genuine metal band for true metal fans, that takes the genre further without abandoning its core ingredients. From Pink Floyd to Gojira via way of The Agonist and Arch Enemy, Kassogtha’s no-nonsense brand of groovy progressive death metal combines a variety of influences to create a steamrolling fusion of irresistible riffs, neck-breaking drums and a vocal range covering devastating growls and ethereal melodies.

On rEvolve, produced at Stockholm’s legendary Fascination Street Studios with David Castillo (Carcass, Opeth, Leprous), Linus Corneliusson (Ihsahn, Amorphis) and Tony Lindgren (Carcass, Opeth, Katatonia), Kassogtha showcase old school riffs and progressive inspiration, savage grooves and blast beats, creativity and speed, and pure, honest dedication to their craft.

rEolve will be released on Klang Machine Records, the newly-formed heavy music label co-founded by Swiss metal wizard Merlin Sutter (Cellar Darling, ex-Eluveitie).
