Jakub comments: "'Wait' is a second track taken from my upcoming record, scheduled for early 2023. For some reason I've been always gravitating towards that thin line between hope and resignation, and I feel like this album is all about it emotionally. It's beautiful, it's loud, yet at times meditative. I just can't wait to send it out to the world. It's almost there."

One of the finest young guitar players today, Jakub Zytecki established himself as one of the most inventive composers of his generation with previous album Nothing Lasts, Nothing’s Lost. His new album promises to push sonic boundaries even further, as shown on new single 'Wait' and also previous single 'HEART'.

In terms of guitar excellence Jakub can be compared to his peers Plini, Aaron Marshall (Intervals), Chon and Polyphia, but his sound is more aligned with his wide range of influences, including The 1975, Bon Iver and John Hopkins.

Jakub has toured the world far and wide as the guitarist in prog-metal band DispersE, and in 2019 he took his solo project live, touring as support to Plini throughout Europe.

Jakub has announced an extensive UK / EU headline tour in 2023, supporting fellow guitar maverick Plini, with Owane and Jack Gardiner completing the bill. Dates:

Bay Area, California’s reigning kings of heavy hardcore first stormed into the scene in 2007 with their debut album: The Will To Survive. Taking influence from bands like Blood For Blood, and Madball; LIONHEART came out swinging with a full-blown assault of blistering metallic hardcore. They quickly followed it up with 2010’s Built On Struggle, 2012’s Undisputed and years of non-stop touring.

Following a short break after their release Undisputed, the band came back stronger than ever with 2014’s Welcome To The Westcoast. The album debuted at #1 on both iTunes Metal and GooglePlay Metal Charts. LIONHEART stormed into the scene again in January 2016 with Love Don’t Live Here. The album title, a nod to a classic R&B/ Motown Song by the same name, shows the band's unwillingness to conform to the typical hardcore mould, as well as the bitter and unforgiving lyrical content the band is known for. November 2017 saw LIONHEART unleash Welcome To The Westcoast II. A sequel to Welcome To The Westcoast (2014), the album brought forth a new era in California Hardcore, and saw them again debut at #1 across the iTunes Metal Charts and Google Play Metal Charts.

2019, after endless touring around the globe, LIONHEART returned with their most punishing album to date: Valley Of Death. Backed by a combination of blistering metallic hardcore and heavy West Coast groove, front-man Rob Watson provides an insight into a life of torment, violence, and an unrelenting will to overcome. With Valley Of Death LIONHEART climbed into the German Top 20 Album Charts, as well as #1 on iTunes Metal Charts and Google Play Metal Charts.

Groundbreaking Indonesian trio Voice Of Baceprot release new video for 'PMS' single

Groundbreaking Indonesian trio Voice Of Baceprot have released the video for their triumphant new single 'PMS'.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/K7vNHMGmxKY

Stream: https://li.sten.to/vob-pms

'PMS', short for perempuan merdeka seutuhnya ("completely independent women") is an anthem for the ages. The single celebrates women who are breaking stereotypes and boundaries in all forms.

The origin of 'PMS' came from conditions close to Voice Of Baceprot's background, when the band members still lived in their village in rural Indonesia.

A conservative community, there are few career options for women after school - by choosing a career in music, Voice Of Baceprot have been marked by some as an anomaly or rebel in their community. 'PMS' is then a solidarity call for all women who face the same problems but march on regardless, to keep doing what they love.

The new single cements the group's position as one of the most exciting musical voices from Southeast Asia, and follows their huge performance at Wacken Open Air 2022, among other European festivals this summer.

The all-female trio Voice Of Baceprot have made headlines globally with their music, a fresh take on metal, rap-rock, and funk metal. Formed in 2014 in school in rural Indonesia, the three schoolgirls - Marsya (vocals and guitar), Widi (bass), andSitti (drums) - aged 14, began a musical revolution.

Initially drawn to covers of System Of A Down, Rage Against The Machine, Metallica, and Slipknot among others, Voice Of Baceprot soon found their unique authentic voice. True to their name, given 'Baceprot' in Sundanese translates as 'loud'.

Voice Of Baceprot's debut video, 2018's 'School Revolution', their thrash-funk metal amalgam, has gathered nearly two million views. It is a searing track, raising awareness about the inequality of education, and helped fully stamp VOB's name on the global map. Since then, the group have gone from strength to strength, releasing follow up singles 'God, Allow Me (Please) to Play Music', and 2022's '[NOT] PUBLIC PROPERTY'.

Since their formation, Voice Of Baceprot's Marsya, Sitti, and Widi have been using their music to build their voices as activists and to raise awareness of the violations of women's rights globally. Their activism is only increasing and becoming more powerful as the trio age. This is reflected in the single '[NOT] PUBLIC PROPERTY', released in conjunction with the WoW Foundation and Indonesian crowdfunding platform Kitabisa to collect donations for victims of sexual violence and abuse.

Irish indie-punks New Pagans announce new album Making Circles of Our Own, release double single 'Karin Was Not A Rebel / Fresh Young Overlook'

Critically lauded Irish indie-punk group New Pagans will release their second album Making Circles of Our Own on 17th February 2023 via Big Scary Monsters.

In celebration of the news, the quintet have streamed their double single 'Karin Was Not A Rebel / Fresh Young Overlook', tracks six and four from the album.

Stream here: https://orcd.co/karinfyol

'Karin Was Not A Rebel' celebrates the underrated and overlooked artist and designer Karin Bergöö Larsson, one of the foundational modern interior designers. Highlighting the beauty that Karin brought to the world, the triumphant new single presents a key theme in Making Circles of Our Own - a celebration of people proud to be themselves, resisting the constraints of others, and who left behind a legacy of creation, exemplars of hope.

In contrast, the more melancholic 'Fresh Young Overlook' is a love/hate letter to the music industry. Being a working musician is all-consuming, and every aspect of life is infiltrated: and for New Pagans, the only acceptable response is to seek the joy in life as far as possible.

The new songs follow the first single from the album, the stunningly uplifting 'Better People'. Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/7Nw3HymioVw

As the music industry fights to return from the brink, New Pagans abandon chaos for a brief moment, in search of hope. Making Circles of Our Own is a glorious listen, incisive, inspiring, and uplifting. Ultimately, the album details the journey to self-assurance, deftly led by singer and wordsmith Lyndsey Mcdougall, whose transportive lyrics demand instant repeat listens.

New Pagans' critically acclaimed debut album, The Seed The Vessel The Roots and All was a self-reflective and self-critical release. Instead, Making Circles of Our Own is more poised, curious and outward-looking, but not without its own moments of angry power. Focusing on the societal limits placed on age and gender, the album is a strong statement of intent from the group.

Recalling elements of Pixies, The Xcerts and Muncie Girls, Making Circles of Our Own was recorded in the Glens of Antrim in Ireland by the band, and self-produced. Following their European tour with Skunk Anansie earlier this year, New Pagans then toured with English folk-punk heroes Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls on four dates across Germany.

2023 follows a stellar two years for New Pagans, following their globally-critically acclaimed debut The Seed, The Vessel, The Roots and All (March 2021, Big Scary Monsters). Strong support from Stereogum, Kerrang!, The Independent, NPR and more helped mark the Irish group as a band to sit up and notice.

Cahir O’Doherty - Guitar and vocals
Claire Miskimmin - Bass guitar
Allan McGreevy - Guitar

Creeper release brand new single 'Ghost Brigade'

A new dawn begins for Creeper. Following on from their sold-out one-off When The Sun Comes show at London’s Roundhouse on Friday, the band now share their brand new single 'Ghost Brigade'. The track represents their first release under a new deal with Spinefarm Records, home to Bullet For My Valentine and While She Sleeps. This new era sees Creeper set to build upon the chart success of their critically-acclaimed second album, Sex, Death & The Infinite Void, which debuted at #5 when it was released in 2020.

Check out 'Ghost Brigade' here: https://youtu.be/gvnrAJvl1ss

Stream/purchase 'Ghost Brigade' here: https://creeper.lnk.to/GhostBrigadePR

'Ghost Brigade' is Creeper uniting their musical roots of full-throttle punk and hardcore into one fiery statement of intent, before unleashing an instantly anthemic, sing-your-heart-out chorus. The track was produced by Tom Dalgety (Ghost, Royal Blood, The Damned, Pixies).

The When The Sun Comes show represented the closing act of the present narrative of Creeper and ended on a shocking note with the apparent decapitation of Will Gould - a big theatrical moment that continued the tradition of their infamous “final” show at KOKO back in 2018. The night started with sets from special guests Bad Nerves and Zetra.

Creeper recently announced that they will headline a stage at next summer’s Slam Dunk Festival. In the meantime, they are set to begin an Australian tour next week, headlining Stay Gold in Melbourne before playing four shows as special guests to Enter Shikari.

MØL release instrumental version of Diorama album along with guitar playthrough video

Danish blackgaze masters MØL return with an instrumental version of their stunning second studio album Diorama, which was released via Nuclear Blast in November 2021. Diorama (Instrumental) is available on all digital platforms and as a special vinyl edition to celebrate the anniversary of Diorama’s original release date. The band have also released a brand new guitar playthrough video for 'Itinerary'.

Guitarist Nicolai Hansen comments: “We are very excited to present the instrumental version of Diorama to our fans. A lot of work and creativity goes into making our sound. That is why we feel that the music deserves a release of its own where it is possible to immerse yourself entirely in the soundscapes.”

'Photophobic' official music video: https://youtu.be/ooY2JtQ6NXc
'Serf' official music video: https://youtu.be/T2l2tvw2n7c

Undeniably one of the most exciting and unique groups to set the metal landscape alight in recent years, MØL mix elements of black metal with the contrasting sub-genre of shoegaze. Meandering dreamy soundscapes intertwine with hellspawn vocal rasps and lush melodies to create an exceptional collision of beauty and wretchedness.

Inspired by bands such as My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Drop Nineteens, Lantlôs and Alcest, MØL released their self-titled debut EP in 2014. A year later they perfected their sound with their second EP II, produced by Jacob Bredahl and released in 2015. Both EPs were well received and drove them on to do some emphatic live shows which were praised by press. In 2018, MØL made an international breakthrough signing with Holy Roar Records (UK) who released their debut album Jord to worldwide critical acclaim. The record was recorded at Grapehouse Studios and mixed and mastered by Chris Kreutzfeldt. The album was also released as an instrumental version and in 2019, the band re-released their two first EPs, remastered for CD and vinyl.

In November 2021 MØL returned with their second studio album, Diorama, the group’s first for Nuclear Blast Records. Recorded and mixed by Tue Madsen (Gojira, Meshuggah, Heaven Shall Burn), the album once again captivated critics worldwide.

Narrow Head announce new album and stream single / video

US rock quintet Narrow Head have announced the release of their new album Moments of Clarity, out 10th February via Church Road Records, and have also unveiled the title track single / video.

Watch the video to 'Moments of Clarity' here: https://youtu.be/moQiJhJk2Oo

Pre-order / pre-save Moments of Clarity here: https://bfan.link/moments-of-clarity

Solitude, melancholy, and revelation bleed into each other throughout Narrow Head’s, Moments of Clarity, transporting the listener through a vast terrain of emotional spaces.

Traversing the depths of towering, churning riffs, bouncing, lock-grooved rhythms, and crystalline, gorgeously constructed hooks, the Houston-based outfit puts on a masterclass in the art of writing songs that match the pain, pleasure, and confusion of modern living. Each track is sentimental without being precious, heavy without unnecessary griminess, pop-forward without letting the listener off the hook easy: these songs ask for some form of hurt or desire to be paid back to them in return, some promise that the listener is putting equal skin into the game.

Moments of Clarity’s title-track lyrically evokes images of numbed psyches and deep loathing, yet all the while holds out a sense of forgiveness in not knowing how to get better, a sense of forgiveness in the fact that, “it’s ok to say you want more.” 'Moments of Clarity' tunnels through a thick morass of sticky rhythms, eventually exposing a melody so triumphant and stadium-sized in its confidence that it almost seems to channel the ghosts of Oasis’s Knebworth 1996.

The record’s title came to vocalist/guitarist Jacob Duarte in an ambient, almost haunting fashion. The months surrounding the release of Narrow Head’s prior record, 12th House Rock, were marked by a series of personal losses and spiritual trials. Throughout the writing process of this most recent record, the turn of phrase “moments of clarity” appeared to materialise wherever Duarte looked in an almost serendipitous fashion. The notion of moments clarity seemed to coalesce as if it were a totem to the desire to keep on living, a counterweight to the self-inflected damage and depravity that defined much of 12th House Rock’s lyrics. “The phrase created a space for me to reflect upon my own life,” Duarte admits, “since our last record I’ve had plenty of moments of realization like that… when you experience friends dying, you’re forced to see life a little differently.”

Moments of Clarity reflects this matured sense of purpose. Longtime Narrow Head fans will undoubtedly still recognise the band’s signature marriage of brutality and grace, and many of the core themes of desolation, loss, and self-medication that the band established on their prior records Satisfaction (2016) and 12th House Rock (2020) continue to haunt the edges of Moments of Clarity. All the same, Moments rises above the darkness with a sense of elegant repose. While not exactly optimistic in outlook, these songs simmer with a certain life affirming desire, a burning passion to transcend pure cynicism and self-destruction, if only for even a few seconds.

This newfound lust for life is baked into the essence of the songs themselves. Each riff, melody, and drum fill has been rigorously constructed and pushed towards its most simplified, base instinct. There are no frills or unnecessary ornamentation, only pure sensation in the absence of conscious thought. Duarte credits the presence of Sonny DiPerri (NIN, Protomartyr, My Bloody Valentine), who recorded, mixed, and produced the record, with elevating Narrow Head’s sound. Prior to recording, the band spent a week with DiPerri at a house in Sherman, TX, reworking and refining the record with a sense of surgical intent, sculpting each melody and hook until it had reached its logical conclusion. The band then relocated with DiPerri to Jeff Friedl’s (Devo, A Perfect Circle) home-studio in Los Angeles, where they completed the tracking of the record under the reprieve of an uncharacteristically mild Californian late-summer.

The addition of Kora Puckett (Solo, Bugg, Sheer Mag), who was promoted from touring guitarist to permanent band member, further bolstered the writing process, expanding the band’s traditional songwriting trio of Duarte, guitarist William Menjivar, and drummer Carson Wilcox and pushing the songs towards a broader minded, arrangement-by-committee register. An ecstatic sense of group cohesion shines through in each individual performance. The songs on Moments lurch and pulse with a sense of breathless, single-minded determination, reflecting the fine-tuned tightness of a band coming off of a heavy touring cycle that saw them play alongside the likes of Quicksand, Turnstile, Gatecreeper, Chubby and the Gang, Young Guv, and Fury. The band eschews any sort of overt reliance upon studio effects in order to convey dynamic shifts, leaning instead upon the strength of the songwriting itself, as well as their intimate familiarities with one another as musicians, to carry the momentum of each track directly.

With Moments of Clarity, the band’s third full-length, Narrow Head dash away any shadow of romantic nostalgia or indulgent self-deprecation. Channelling equal parts pop-star conceit and weathered sobriety, the band have, in the truest and most basic sense, arrived at a record that only they could have written. Moments of Clarity does not speak to or build upon the past. Rather, it cuts straight to the heart of the matter, taking the struggle, brilliance, and mystery of contemporary life as its direct subject.

Moments of Clarity sees its release on Church Road Records (UK/EU) / Run For Cover Records (ROW) on vinyl, CD and all digital streaming platforms. Just after a successful, headlining fall North American run, Narrow Head are thrilled to announce they’ll be back on the road in the US in February 2023 with White Reaper.

Black Lakes battle with post-truth in new single and video 'Verity in Flames'

Black Lakes have shared a video for their single 'Verity in Flames', taken from their album For All We've Left Behind, released earlier this year. Through a social commentary on the notion of post-truth, the song highlights the Welsh alt-metal outfit's social and political approach, and frontman Will Preston's unique talent when it comes to marrying these societal issues with poetry and imaged songwriting.

Watch the video for 'Verity in Flames' here: https://youtu.be/VF3DgSNAkCI

Frontman Will comments: "Whilst Verity can be used as a girl's name, the word also means truth. The song is a social commentary on the notion of a ‘post’ truth society, and the fact that even the notion of ‘post’ truth exists. In a world where phrases like ‘alternative facts’ and ‘my truth’ exist, the echoes to an Orwellian dystopia are as terrifying as they are stark. Verity makes clear that whilst the truth may be burning, in embers she remains, just waiting to rise again, and be discovered. It’s in this last line that we counterpoint the anger of the song, with a sense of optimism that the truth will out amongst the panic and despair of our current societal norms."

Black Lakes create a sound which deliberately blurs the boundaries between hard rock and alternative metal, drawing on a wide range of influences from across both scenes. Their debut album For All We've Left Behind was recorded in the Welsh capital with premier hard rock and metal producer Romesh Dodangoda. Their previous single 'Fragments' was picked up across national radio including Kerrang! and the BBC. Despite the impact of the pandemic, the band grew from strength to strength, having been named both a Great Music Stories 'Band of the Year 2021', and 'Live Band of the Year', a critically acclaimed redux set released exclusively for the Spirit of Wildfire festival and making the final of the Hard Rock Hell - Highway to Hell competition at the O2 Academy. Having successfully completed their gofundme campaign to support it, their highly anticipated debut album For All We've Left Behind was released on 22nd February 2022. The band has been touring extensively in its support this year.
