Dark pop quartet Letters Sent Home release new single, 'Misery Loves Company (Stripped)'

German alternative/dark-pop quartet Letters Sent Home have released their new single 'Misery Loves Company (Stripped)', an acoustic version of their summer 2021 hit 'Misery Loves Company'.

In celebration of the news, Letters Sent Home have also announced their debut UK live performance: the group will be supporting alt rockers Blackout Problems at London's Black Heart on 16th November.

The new version of 'Misery Loves Company' is taken from Letters Sent Home's upcoming new EP, Fire In Me, released 2nd December via new label home Hassle Records.

Pre-order Fire In Me here: https://hasslerecords.ffm.to/lsh_mlc-stripped

The band comment: "'Misery Loves Company' are the thoughts of a person who loves too much, and feels their loved ones pain as if it was their own. Misery usually does love company, but in this case the protagonist is way too involved and is suffering just as much as the person in pain, instead of being able to lend a helping hand."

Fire In Me will be available as a limited vinyl release of 200 copies, pressed on crystal clear vinyl and handnumbered and signed by the band. Available exclusively from the Hassle Records store, the physical EP features two new versions of Letters Sent Home's hit 'Misery Loves Company', including this stripped-back version.

Letters Sent Home formed in 2017 in Wolfsburg, based on the close bonds of friendship of Emily, Lara and Robin, quickly finding a forth member in drummer Louis. The band began their journey fully in 2020 with their first single 'Mosaic Mirror' - and the process that the band have lived through can be described as rollercoaster, full of highs and lows.

Driven by courageous ambition, Letters Sent Home came closer to their goals with their first, self-titled EP in late 2020, which served as the foundation for an incredibly successful 2021.

The group's second EP, Misery Loves Company, offered a greater expansion of sound, but also two top-class guest features, underlines the band's increasing heft. Besides Being As An Ocean's Joel Quartuccio, Letters Sent Home also teamed up with Halflives singer Linda Battilani. Both post-hardcore-infused alternative rock songs, they sit alongside the band's synth-laden dark-pop influences, showcasing a fine modern pop-rock sound.

The Misery Loves Company EP led to national attention across key alternative media outlets and an ever-growing fanbase, as well as Hassle Records, their new label home for third EP Fire In Me. A stunning listen, it's a fine demonstration of Letters Sent Home's non-conforming rock sound and their strong lyrical identity.

Thematically the band touch on the topic of mental health, and vocalist Emily's personal experiences. The band raise awareness on these themes not just through their music but with initiatives such as their Helpless But Hopeful Festivals and accompanying podcast.

Having now signed with established London-based independent label Hassle Records, Letters Sent Home look set to establish themselves as one of the most promising acts to watch out for over the coming year – new EP Fire In Me coming December 2022, with the quartet already working on crafting their debut album.

Profound Morality is out now via Church Road Records, available here: https://bfan.link/profound-morality

HERIOT are a blistering, vicious, visceral new group, having made their mark with their titanic singles 'Dispirit', 'Recreant', 'Cleansed Existence', ‘Near Vision/Enter the Flesh’, as well as their monstrous cover of Machine Head's 'Ten Ton Hammer' over the course of 2021.

The band’s output across the last year has led to heads being turned across the metal world, all blown away by HERIOT’s unrelenting take on the new heavy. Fully-focused and with a razor-sharp edge, the awe-inspiring double-vocal attack of Jake Packer and Debbie Gough on vocals is all-conquering; the titanic support of Erhan Alman (guitar) and Julian Gage (drums) rock-solid.

Profound Morality reflects different aspects of human behaviour in our modern society. How far people push their moral boundaries to achieve what they want; outdated modes of living and beliefs that harm our contemporary life; life and death and how fulfilment can be achieved, be that helping or hurting peers; and how this shapes tyrants of industry, and a clear separation of class and wealth.

HERIOT have deservedly been grabbing attention with all four pairs of hands, weaponising metallic sludge and hardcore, unholy levels of distortion, speed and gut-punching talent. Elements of NailsKnocked LooseCode Orange, and Vein combine and collide to exhilarating new effect, to create a new sound that is truly groundbreaking, fully worthy of the notice the band are achieving.

In their short recent history HERIOT have caught the attention of Metal Hammer, Rock Sound, Brooklyn Vegan, Kerrang!, Revolver, and Knotfest, among many others. Acclaimed as "one of the most promising young bands in modern metalcore", HERIOT have supported Rolo Tomassi and Svalbard on their respective UK tours, and performed at Download2000treesBloodstockArcTanGent and more in 2022.

Young Culture release video for new single 'Not In Love'

New York-based pop-punk trio Young Culture have released a video for their new single 'Not In Love'. The track is taken from the band's recently released album You Had To Be There, out now via Rude Records (UK/EU) / Equal Vision Records (ROW).

Check out the video for 'Not In Love' here: https://youtu.be/DnvdTmP4xSA

Stream/purchase You Had To Be There here: https://youngculture.lnk.to/YH2BT

The band comment:

Young Culture have always been about making the most of your life, taking advantage of those good times, so come and do that with us. You’ll find us connecting with our pop-punk roots but with a new, refreshing aim. Short, sweet and to the point as we like to do it, but packed full of memorable moments. If you’re missing out on the YC bandwagon, sorry, I can’t explain this one to you, I guess You Had To Be There.”

Recorded in Toronto with Anton DeLost (State Champs, Silverstein, Mayday Parade), it feels like the trio - vocalist Alex Magnan and guitarists Gabe Pietrafesa and Troy Burchett - are coming down from the lovestruck high of a year ago, marked by the band’s Godspeed EP. Although similarly dramatic with catchy surges of unabashed emotion, You Had To Be There features a melancholic rush of high-octane energy with shadows that lurk within the foundations.

You Had To Be There builds on the foundations Young Culture have laid down since their formation in 2016. It’s an album that defies the classic - and often true - notion of the difficult second record. This was anything but. What’s more, you can hear just how much freedom, joy, exuberance and fun was involved in the process of putting it all together. Due to the pandemic, Young Culture didn’t have a fair go at releasing and touring their first album, but You Had To Be There acts as another shot. It very much feels like a true stamp of Young Culture, both in terms of where they’re at now and what they want for the future.

This is a record about making the most of now, of living in the present and having as much fun as possible, whatever you or the world are going through. From the smooth and polished pop of opener 'Not In Love' and the hybrid pop-punk of 'Kinda Over It' - both songs about finding solace in the company of someone else, if only for one night - to the joyous, emphatic and triumphant strains of 'We’re On Fire' and the forlorn but still defiant nature of 'Know Better'.

Musically, it’s also an unashamed nod to all the genres and bands that the trio love. On 'Tattoo', for example, the band reference listening to Backstreet Boys, the same way they mentioned listening to Britney Spears on 'Hum'. There are no concerns whatsoever that it might not be cool within the pop-punk scene, and nor should there be. In fact, it’s precisely that unbridled passion and unfiltered enthusiasm that makes You Had To Be There stand out.

It’s done in such a way, however, that Young Culture are also looking forward to what’s next - both in the near future and the grand scheme of things - and are doing so with extra confidence. That’s something wholeheartedly reflected throughout the entire album, musically and lyrically, from the very first note to the very last.

Young Culture have also announced a co-headline tour with Super American, as well as dates supporting State Champs during October and November. Head to the band's website for full dates and tickets: https://www.youngcultureshop.com/tour

HERIOT release remix version of 'Profound Morality' with producer Dislover

Rising heavy quartet HERIOT have released a surprise new track, a re-working of their single 'Profound Morality' with Dublin-based producer Dislover.

The new version of the track is a collaboration made in heaven, as Dislover amplifies HERIOT's oppressive, unnerving industrial-tinge to new heights.

Stream: http://bit.ly/3TwEsd0

HERIOT comment: "As a band we are very fond of the idea of seeing other artists reimagining and interpreting our music. Remixes are a wonderful way of hearing a song in a new light. Dislover had been on my musical radar for a while, he creates mind-bending industrial/bass music. When the opportunity came about it was a very exciting prospect for us!"

Dislover comments: “I am beyond honoured to be a part of this collaboration with the mighty HERIOT, one of the UK’s most crushingly heavy bands and also one of my favourite acts in the world right now. I was elated when the band gave me their blessing to work on the remix, and tried my best to retain the original’s devastating power combined with some pulsing dystopian beats and hissing industrial noise. Much love to both Heriot and Church Road Records for allowing me to be a part of this amazing experience!”

Spanish brutal death metallers Bonecarver release new single 'The Reckoning'

Bonecarver commented on the new single: "Inspired by the film of Robert Eggers “The Northman”, 'The Reckoning' is a story that talks about the feelings surrounding the wrath that we fill when we pursue vengeance. Apart from horror and gore movies, we also love superhero movies so we thought that the video for 'The Reckoning' is the perfect mix, as well as being the song with the most crushing riff on the album."

Continuing on about their album release: "Our new album Carnage Funeral is here!  We want to thank all the people who have supported us since our name was Cannibal Grandpa until today's release. Don't forget to add us to your playlists and spread the word!"

Formed from the ashes of Cannibal Grandpa, Spanish masters of ultra-modern brutality, Bonecarver, have been at the forefront of the extreme scene in their native Madrid since 2014. Combining stories about infamous serial killers with their own take on brutal death metal, the band received worldwide praise for their Unique Leader debut Evil in 2021.

Returning with their sophomore album, Carnage Funeral, Bonecarver have spawned a skull crushing monster. Alt-metal quartet HAWXX announce new single/video 'The Worst Thing'

Hailing from Greece, Wales, England, and Italy, London-based alt-metal quartet Hawxx bring their blend of dystopian guitars, acidic vocals, battle crying bass and progressive drums to their latest single, 'The Worst Thing'.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/sMQDnEDcLpQ

The band play their single release show at the Black Heart on 11th Nov. Tickets available here: https://www.seetickets.com/event/hawxx-single-launch-party/the-black-heart/2431752

Guitarist / vocalist Anna Papadimitriou comments: "The message of the song is simple; some people are just little sh*ts . And the sooner you realise that it’s not your responsibility to understand them better or bend over backwards, the sooner you will feel like the 10/10 fabulous gremlin you deserve to feel like. Essentially it’s about understanding that other peoples behaviour isn’t a reflection on you and isn’t something you can control : The Worst Thing I can wish on you is to remain just who you are. Bye!"

New single 'The Worst Thing' follows this week's announcement that Hawxx will appear at Download Festival 2023. Having exhausted 2022 touring with Tremonti, appearing at Radar Festival, Download Festival, Great Escape, Summer Breeze, Burn It Down and more, Hawxx are firmly becoming one of the hottest UK live acts.

Concocting a mixture of doom, alternative, and technical metal, the quartet of virtuosic musicians decimate with every nimble drum pattern, masterful guitar solo, and Valkyrie-like vocal harmonies that will have you running head-first for Valhalla. Writing songs about oppressive beauty standards, mental health struggles, violence against women, self empowerment, the tales of being a norty gremlin and much more. Hawxx write the songs that need to be sung, as vehicles of catharsis, love and rage.

The band are currently fundraising for their debut album, due out in 2023, more info can be found here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/hawxx-are-making-their-debut-album

Hawxx aim to bring diversity and inclusivity to the rock and metal world and reform the standard sausage fest that dominates heavy music. The quartet write songs that reflect self empowerment, the lies of the diet industry, mental health struggles, and the challenges of being different.

Their first EP, Deadlands, came in 2020 and saw the band experiment with anarchic and lawless pinch harmonics, twin guitars, and unbridled lyrical vulnerability. Their second EP, You're Only As Loud As You Shout Right Now, is receiving consistent positive response from press and radio, including features in Metal Hammer, Classic Rock Magazine, Powerplay, and Rock Sound, as well as airplay on BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing, The Metal Hammer Show, Primordial Radio A-list and Planet Rock Radio.

2020 saw the quartet become winners of the PRS Women Make Music Award and the chance to give an exclusive performance at the Heavy Music Awards. In 2021 they won Metal to the Masses, London, and played a packed out tent at Bloodstock Festival, described by Metal Planet as an ‘I was there’ moment. In November 2021 their debut music video for ‘Death of Silence’ won Best Rock Video at the International Music Video Awards and ‘Hologram’ won Best Music Video at BFII Sweden.

Alt-pop group CIEL release cover of electro-punks CLT DRP's single 'Aftermath'

Brighton-based alt-pop group CIEL have released their cover of hotly-tipped electro-punks CLT DRP's single 'Aftermath'.

Stream here: https://listen.smallpondrec.com/aftermath-ciel-remix

CIEL comment: “It was a great joy for us to be asked to work on a remix for CLT DRP. We had never made a remix together so it was a completely new realm to explore and very exciting! We took different approaches of working on the song and ended up stripping it back quite a lot and adding new synths. We cut parts of Annie’s vocal lines which we sampled and made into new instruments, sampled different parts of CLT DRP’s song and tried to combine them with elements that are typical for our own songwriting.”

CLT DRP comment: "We’re blown away with CIEL’s remix of 'Aftermath'. They’ve taken this song to new territory, and it slaps!
Thank you for taking the care and time to make this so awesome."

CIEL's remix is an extension of CLT DRP's Aftermath 7'', which includes a B-side cover of the song by The Big Moon.

'Aftermath' is centred on themes of sexual assault and gendered violence, and the internalised guilt and frustration that can follow in the wake of sexual assault.

CLT DRP's Annie comments:

"Generational grief’s discourse within feminism is something that I don’t believe gets paid much attention to. There’s been so much progress culturally around the education of sexual health, consent and intersectional feminism while I’ve been growing up. Unfortunately even within that progress - it feels as though a lot of disconnect surrounding the victim blaming narrative has stayed the same. The onus continues to remain on the women to solve the problem of sexual assault / gendered violence and I notice that there is still a slight trace of resentment clashing between generations. There are all these conversations around how lucky my generation is that culturally, these topics are being spoken about and normalised in our lifetime. The reality surrounding that is most of these women and victims of sexual assault have carried this generational trauma and grief and passed it down. Men are learning about power dynamics and trying to be better but the women in this world have been left to pick up the pieces. More emotional labour, more time forgiving their perpetrators than themselves. Shame, that’s never been erased from family tree to family tree. Trauma that’s never been paid for and then becomes recycled on to our children.

'Aftermath' was a way to process how I felt about the conversation around sexual assault. I’ve been a bystander before because I was too scared to speak up, I’ve second guessed accusations because it was too painful to believe the truth or blocked out my own experiences because I didn’t want to admit that I was a victim. When you pride yourself on independence it’s really hard to paint yourself in that light, as not in control. When someone starts sharing their story it almost holds a mirror to you and your experiences that you’ve managed to bury, it’s triggering and so many women I know were never taught how to deal with that conversation or that trauma. I used to be so jarred by women my mother’s age in how little they spoke about their trauma and how little empathy they had sometimes for women/LGBTQ+ individuals younger than them. I soon realised that that’s how they processed their experiences and who was I to judge or ask of them to be anything more than okay with how they chose to deal with it at the time. If anything, I admire them now in a way I never used to. It fills me with more love and empathy than I could have imagined having when I carried so much anger and judgement."

CLT DRP will be releasing a zine to accompany Aftermath - a visual lyric book with perspectives from the band on the wake and reality of dealing with sexual assault. It touches on victim-blaming, gendered violence, and notions of responsibility. Confronting the sense of self-reflection that trauma instils in victims, the song and zine are a vital moment from a truly special trio.

Pronounced 'CLIT DRIP' for those confused or too shy to ask, CLT DRP have been turning heads since 2017. The genre-bending trio's non-apologetic and yet playful approach has seen them garner praise from TheLineOfBestFit, Gigwise, and plenty more. Their music gets you moving, invites you in with power, and makes you question your environment and yourself.

In their time, CLT DRP have already supported Nova Twins, Warmduscher, among others, and performed at 2000trees and ArcTanGent festivals.
