On new single and video, guitarist / vocalist Paul Visser comments: "'Deny The Sun' is the first song we wrote for Tempus Veritas and we love how hard the riff goes!  We’ve been pushing more and more into the technical side of our music for this album and this track is a great example of that. Lyrically it deals with Galileo’s ideas about the central nature of the sun and the clash with religious views at the time, written from the point of view of his friend Pope Urban VIII who found himself in an impossible position and ended up condemning the astronomer. Our friend and long-time collaborator Alina Gordienco made the amazing video in LA, starring the wonderful Irina Dudyk as the sun goddess. Her work is consistently inspired and we love what she did for this song!"

On new album Tempus Veritas, he continues: "Interwoven with the fabric of our history as a species are countless opportunities for stories. Little pieces of imagined narrative, set within events we all collectively know as historical, that seek to explore what it means to be human - this is the idea behind Tempus Veritas. Whereas Semaphore looked to the future, this record reinvents the past, wondering what it was like to be inside the mind of a person living through times of consequence. Musically, we continue to seek the boundary between the savagely technical and the undeniably beautiful and attempt to push it as far as possible. We poured our entire creative beings into making this album - we sincerely hope you enjoy it."

Black Orchid Empire create huge, memorable rock music that combines heavy-hitting savagery with intense melodic beauty. Their technical, fearlessly complex grooves and gigantic sing-along choruses have already earned them a widespread fanbase.

A ferociously tight live band, Black Orchid Empire have toured Europe and the UK extensively, supporting Skunk Anansie, HED p.e, INME and Black Map as well as festival slots at Download, Standon Calling and Planet Rockstock. Black Orchid Empire have sealed the bands reputation as a force to be reckoned with.

Having released their debut album Archetype (2016) to universal acclaim, Black Orchid Empire signed with German label Long Branch Records to release the follow up albums Yugen (2018) and Semaphore (2020). Both albums received stellar reviews and over 1,000,000+ combined streams.

Tempus Veritas is a collection of stories that seeks to find compelling imaginary narratives hidden away in what we all think of as history. Behind every milestone or major event in humanity’s long, complex past lies a treasure trove of possibilities for invention - how did Pope Urban VIII feel when confronted by his friend Galileo about the true nature of the sun?  What really happened during an almost triumphant but ultimately doomed Everest attempt? What was it like to be a Norse settler amongst the Saxons; did the omens of the ancient gods begin to disappear?

In approaching Tempus Veritas, Black Orchid Empire sought collectively to push themselves both musically and thematically. Their pursuit of heaviness, melody, emotional power and rhythmic complexity has pushed them to create something they‘re immensely proud of. Semaphore was an album of Sci-Fi, this is an album of Hi-Fi. Tempus Veritas.

Dark UK post-punk group NAUT release new single 'Damocles'

Evocative UK post-punk quartet NAUT have unveiled their new single 'Damocles', taken from forthcoming debut album Hunt, to be released 24th February via Season of Mist.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/ZjQql2uaFBg

Pre-save the album here: https://orcd.co/naut-hunt

Pre-order the album here: https://redirect.season-of-mist.com/Naut

Comment NAUT"With this third single from Hunt we wanted to demonstrate the other sounds that influence our music, outside of the hard rock and post-punk. 'Damocles' is a sprawling, slithering slow-build of a track, taking as much influence from the new romantics as it does gothic rock. It wasn't a conscious decision to make the song take this shape, instead we trusted our instincts and followed them to what we consider new ground for the band. Ground that we will no doubt return to in future.

"The video's use of projected images blasted across a landscape marred by the pursuit of all that glitters, who's lights shine in the night like car headlights, quite literally make us a part of the city we call home. Filmed in the freezing cold January night, the creation process of this video perfectly reflects the song's message of a cold and uncaring world, one in which we must create our own fire and tread carefully, lest we fall from our path. One misstep and the blade swings free."

NAUT are a four-piece drum machine rock band from Bristol, whose shared love of classic rock and metal, alongside reverence for the post-punk pioneers of the late 70s and early 80s, makes itself known from the start. Triumphant synths and scything guitars entwine with danceable beats, while driving bass-lines, moving to pounding drums, create a dynamic and shifting rhythm section. The tracks pulse with a raw post-punk energy but always remain danceable and (perhaps most dangerously) catchy. The lyrics touch on mental paralysis, impending doom and divided peoples, and with the path our world is currently on they have become more relevant than ever.

Starting out as an evening sharing riffs in a flat in Bristol, the first tracks for NAUT had their genesis in 2016. Those first riffs, written by Gavin (vocals) & Jack (guitars) grew to become something much more compelling and after that initial moment, the idea of a band was born.

It all rapidly fell into place. NAUT's first show was in September 2017 followed by two shows supporting Grave Pleasures before the year was out, and they entered the studio the following November. Raise the Lights - their debut EP was recorded at RS Studios in Bristol by Jamie Elton (Moss, Amulet, Spite) and was mastered by Orgone Studios (Ulver, Grave Pleasures, Ghost). The intention was to break out into the world and NAUT did just that, with coverage in Kerrang! Magazine as well as a host of smaller blogs, publications and radio.

NAUT's Semele EP was released in November 2019 and was well-received, from UK press and beyond; the band also supported post-punk legends Pink Turns Blue, Discharge, and Orange Goblin and played the warm-up show for Incineration Festival in London alongside Idle Hands

The end of 2019 also saw a change in NAUT’s format, with the departure of their drummer. NAUT had started life as a drum machine project before the addition of Kenny Selway for the debut EP, and after a string of changes, the obvious choice was to return to that format. This opened up new avenues for musical exploration, on and off stage.

With the spectre of a global pandemic looming large, in March 2020 NAUT played their last live appearance of that year in a sold out St Pancras Old Church in London with King Dude.

With that the world of live music went silent.

However NAUT remained active below the surface: 'Threads' and 'Hand in Hand' were released as a double A side 7” in June 2020. With this release NAUT further gained the attention of fans from across the spectrum of dark music - the band featuring in Kerrang!'s Rock Chart and a number of other high profile goth and post-punk playlists.

Not content with releasing these new songs, NAUT began work on their debut album and struck a partnership with Doomstar booking agency, ready for the return of live music.

Now NAUT are excited to have signed with Season of Mist for the release of their debut album, Hunt. The label has come to represent all shades of musical darkness and feels like a strong pairing for NAUT, as although the band are less extreme in their musical approach, dark music in all its facets underlies all that they do.

UK rock quartet InTechnicolour have released a lyric video for their powerful song 'Eastman', taken from new album Midnight Heavyweight, out now via Small Pond Records. In addition to their upcoming tour with alternative act El Moono in March, the band have announced more live dates.

Watch the video to 'Eastman' here: https://youtu.be/HHP56wRUps8

Bassist Tobie Anderson commented: "'Eastman' is one of the most personal tunes on the album. It just fell into place with both myself writing the lyrics and Dave [Jackson] when he wrote the guitar parts.

"It’s about anxiety and mental health, but more specifically the worry that if my mental health goes south, will those that love me still be there for me. It deals with fears of abandonment and fears of loneliness. But most of all it talks about the struggles of worry on top of worry and how that might affect the relationships that mean the most to me.

"Album closers for this and our debut ended up being videos taken by
Dave on long drives in America, crossing the continent, while on tour with his other band, Delta Sleep."

More info on InTechnicolour:

Hailing from Brighton, InTechnicolour are a riffy, groovy, rock band with a knack for creating a colourful song or two. Formed in 2015 through a want to play loud music through slightly broken amps, the basis of the band was created.

InTechnicolour are an inventive four-piece comprised of technically gifted musicians, cutting loose and playing music that’s about as far removed from their day jobs as it’s possible to get – and they are doing it better than a good portion of their contemporaries. Landing somewhere between the slack desert-groove of Kyuss and Karma To Burn, the band combine deeply satisfying riffs with a dynamic vocal style, which calls to mind the sounds of Baroness, Soudgarden and Alice In Chains.

InTechnicolour have previously toured across the UK and Europe with the likes of Physics House Band, Black Peaks, Town Portal, Bitch Falcon and Haggard Cat, and are gearing up to hit the road this autumn with dates to be announced very soon.

Enterprise Earth unveil new single 'The World Without Us'

Progressive deathcore summoners Enterprise Earth today unveil their latest single, 'The World Without Us' via MNRK Heavy. The staggering hymn follows the band’s 'Death Magick' single, released earlier this month.

Watch the video to 'The World Without Us' here: https://youtu.be/6k-_rJ2TuOA

Guitarist Gabe Mangold comments: “‘The World Without Us’ is intended to follow directly after the ending of ‘Death Magick.’ There’s also an obvious juxtaposition between the two songs, which is also intended. When it comes to our music, we have always enjoyed being a multidimensional band and don’t like to limit ourselves to one sound. With 'The World Without Us' being more melodic, uplifting yet energetic, and progressive compared to the sheer intensity and aggression found in ‘Death Magick,’ we feel that together these two songs capture a broad range of what we offer musically. Enjoy!”

The release of 'The World Without Us' and its companion track 'Death Magick' comes in conjunction with Enterprise Earth’s European tour supporting Shadow Of Intent, currently underway. Oath Of Cranes (ex-Celtic Frost) announce debut album and stream new single

Oath Of Cranes - the new band from ex-Celtic Frost drummer Franco Sesa and ex-Celtic Frost guitarist Erol Ünala - turn doom metal on its head.

The band combine Sesa's passion for eastern traditional music - particularly the mantra chants of Tibetan monks - with his love for hard rock to create a genuinely innovative wall of sound.

Today, the band reveal their debut album The Unsung Mantras will be released 21st April via Klang Machine Records.

In celebration, Oath Of Cranes have released their new single 'Akasha', the second single from the album.

Stream 'Akasha' and pre-order the record here: https://oathofcranes.lnk.to/akasha

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/qS8vNfSxLNU

'Akasha' fuses metal attitude with the Eastern emphasis on the healing effects of music, creating something much more than simply entertainment. Metal was and is survival, family and religion. It is a healer and a way of life. Oath Of Cranes pay homage to that music and those keeping it alive despite rejection by mainstream society.

Sesa comments: "'Akasha', the essence of life. The sonorous attempt of an appreciation of our mystical, magnificent collective experience called: life. To reflect mindfully and fall into what true life can be, could be. To feel it, smell it, hear it, touch it and to see it should shock each of us to the bone. The appreciation can only be too narrow."

The songs on The Unsung Mantras are dark and disturbing, yet beautiful and healing: traditional instruments and sounds from Asian heritage and cultures with shamanic roots, including singing bowls, horns and Tibetan monks' chants, support the powerful and innovative metal celebrated on the album. The result vividly underscores the album's Daoism-inspired concept and the band's broader cultural influences, such as the choice of Sanskrit for song titles, imagery inspired by the Sadhu tradition, and the tribute to the uplifting virtues described by the iconography of Hindu deities. The Oath Of the Cranes is a promise: good death follows a good life.

The record was produced by Oath Of Cranes, engineered at Switzerland's New Sound Studio by Tommy Vetterli (Coroner, Eluveitie, Cellar Darling & more), and mastered at Sweden's Fascination Street Studios by Tony Lindgren (Sepultura, Kreator, Witchcraft & more).

Oath Of Cranes are:
Franco Sesa (ex-Celtic Frost): Drums, songwriting, lyrics and concept
Erol Ünala (ex-Celtic Frost and Apollyon Sun): Guitar, sampling and drones
Chris Tragianidis: Rhythm and lead guitar, bass and keyboards
Fabrizio Merico: Lead vocals, video production and graphics

Due to a diary clash, RADAR 2023 has moved location to Manchester's O2 Victoria Warehouse - a stunning new venue and one which promises to provide a truly incredible experience.

Co-organiser Ash Cook comments: "This summer is going to be so special: we have brought together inspiring bands and outstanding musicians together in the vibrant city that we now call home, Manchester. The last few weeks of winning Best New Festival, a venue move, and confirming this next wave of acts has left me proud and excited to be working with our team to produce another outstanding event.

"When I like a band, I really get sucked into all elements of their music. It’s been a pleasure getting to do that with some fantastic rising stars among our line-up, as well as reacquainting myself with memorable moments from incredible albums from the more established acts that we’re bringing over.

"Periphery and Volumes are both favourites, and Sleep Token blew me away with their show last week. We're excited to see what you all think - and I can’t wait!"

RADAR Festival 2023 will be held 28-30th July at the new venue of O2 Victoria Warehouse, Manchester.

Early bird tickets are now sold out. Weekend tickets are £133.75, and you can purchase here: http://www.radarfestival.co.uk

Following the sell-out success of RADAR 2022, the festival's second ever edition (featuring Leprous, Haken, Dirty Loops' debut UK performance and many more), RADAR 2023 will be moving from Guildford's Corner House to Manchester's O2 Victoria Warehouse, and will boast an internationally acclaimed 42-band bill.

RADAR capped their intensely impressive 2022 by winning the Best New Festival Award and the UK Festival Awards on 6th December in Manchester.

With their mixture of international talent and confirmed homegrown success, RADAR Festival has already positioned themselves as a champion of forward-thinking guitar-led progressive music. No genre boundaries, welcome to all, RADAR Festival was launched in 2019 to acclaim, with performances from Animals As Leaders, Agent FrescoRolo Tomassi, among others. Following the COVID hiatus, RADAR Festival 2022 expanded to three days with triumphant appearances from Leprous, Haken, Dirty Loops, Plini, Conjurer, Soen and more.
