"Clean vocals that have never sounded so good, powerful, and emotional. Exemplary for this is especially the number 'No Heaven'. If you want some more screaming after all, you should check out the fiery tracks 'Sulfate', 'Reanimate', and 'Lavender', because these still remind you the most of the early days."
Metal Hammer Germany

"We can't get enough of their unique style between sensitive clean parts and quivering growls." - MoreCore

"FOR THE FALLEN DREAMS reinvent themselves at a great measure yet simultaneously build up many bridges to their earlier releases to take their fans along with them." - FUZE

"an album that is bright, brilliant, brash, and brutal."GBHBL

What’s that old saying? “The more things change, the more they stay the same.” When it comes to Michigan-based metal outfit For The Fallen Dreams, perhaps a more fitting - but just as timeless - adage would be “change is the only constant.”

For The Fallen Dreams' career is defined by constant progression and a dedication to refining and rejuvenating their unique brand of aggressive, passionate metal. The five-piece have consistently demonstrated an ability to adapt and evolve their sound and dynamic, despite overwhelming adversity, all without sacrificing the core components of their sound.

Built around explosive breakdowns, gut-wrenching grooves and lyricism that touches on everything from an introspective glimpse into the human condition to brotherhood and camaraderie, these Midwestern masters of metal have made themselves a staple within the international heavy music community.

For The Fallen Dreams formed in 2003, but their story starts in earnest with the release of 2008's Changes - a record that would greatly impact the footprint of heavy music. Following ChangesFor The Fallen Dreams went on to release five more remarkable full-length records, from the atmospheric and moody Relentless to chart-topping comeback record Heavy Hearts, which landed at #162 on the Billboard Top 200 and #3 on Billboard Heatseekers lists. Six saw the band venture into more metallic territory, with over 20 million views on YouTube and tens of millions of streams across various streaming platforms.

While For The Fallen Dreams have been through their fair share of changes, one thing has remained constant: their dedication to growth while never failing to deliver primal-yet-emotional music, which has made them a staple in modern metal.

India's premier solo metal musician Demonstealer releases new single ft. Hannes Grossmann

Demonstealer, India's premier solo metal musician, has streamed his new single 'The Propaganda Machine', the title track of his forthcoming new album, out 31st March via Sweden's Black Lion Records.

Featuring Ken Bedene (Aborted), Anabelle Iratni (Veile, ex-Cradle of Filth), and Stian Gundersen (Blood Red Throne), the video for the new single can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/e2QMhfcoeeA

Pre-order The Propaganda Machine here: https://snd.click/propaganda

Stian Gundersen comments: "I was thrilled when Sahil asked me to be a part of this project. First of all I think that the track is an absolute banger and I had a great time recording it. I’m also humbled that I got to play along with so many great musicians from the death metal scene. Prepare to get your face melted!"

Featuring a stellar line-up of metal musicians across the globe, The Propaganda Machine is another chapter in the story of one of heavy music’s most tenacious underground legends. The album is a brilliantly wicked 40-minute ride featuring the likes of Hannes Grossmann (Alkaloid, Triptykon, Blotted Science), Martino Garattoni (Ne Obliviscaris, Ancient Bards), and Ken Bedene (Aborted). Technical symphonic death metal at its finest – no holds-barred, full-throttle heaviness. Relentless in its brutality, triumphant in its melodies. Vocally the album is also hard-hitting, marking a lyrical turn to reality and escape from fantasy - an eviscerating take on the polarised world today, and a record that fully speaks truth to power.

Sahil Makhija, better known as Demonstealer, has long been one of the pillars of the heavy metal scene in India. From being at the vanguard of a fledgling metal scene to becoming one of its most visible and respected proponents today, Demonstealer is integral to the growth of the Indian metal community.

In 2000, Demonstealer formed Demonic Resurrection, one of India’s best known and biggest metal bands. Over the last two decades the band has become one of the most recognizable faces of Indian metal, nationally and internationally. Also in 2000 he established India’s first recording studio dedicated solely to metal - a home to all of the country's top metal bands.

Five years later he launched Demonstealer Records – India’s first metal record label. The roster included the best in India’s burgeoning metal scene, and licensed internationally renowned acts, including Behemoth and Dimmu BorgirDemonstealer also founded and ran Resurrection Festival, alongside Demonic Resurrection bassist Husain Bandukwala. For years it was India’s only dedicated extreme metal festival. Needless to say, Demonstealer’s impact on the national scene cannot be overstated.

Aside from the success of Demonic Resurrection (5 studio albums, Metal Hammer Golden God award, multiple tours and festivals across UK and Europe), Demonstealer’s solo career is notable. From his debut album And Chaos Will Reign (2008) to 2021’s The Holocene TerminationSahil has been blazing a thunderous solo trail.

Slovakian deathcore group Abyss Above share new single 'Vain'

Slovakia’s Abyss Above are the newest signing to the Seek & Strike family. They unleash a brutal deathcore assault that is best showcased on their blistering new track, 'Vain'. The band’s frenetic, live intensity is highlighted in the song’s music video, which you can watch below. 'Vain' also serves as the first look into their highly anticipated new EP due later this year.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/FtxSuP6zksk

Stream the song here: https://linktr.ee/abyssabove

Abyss Above comment: "Our new track, ‘Vain', offers a taste of our latest musical direction. The rhythmically driven track introduces a raw, abrasive punch complimented by dissonant tones, which will get you in a mood to go head first through a concrete wall. Our upcoming EP will certainly deliver the heaviness and emotion to do that. The lyrical side takes its roots in our previous EP Inevitable End and continues the theme of humanity’s irresponsibility causing the destruction of everything around us, yet taking no accountability for these actions."

“The music video reflects the track's dark, grainy and gritty mood supported by chaotic edits, glitchy effects and lack of lighting to help convey its overall atmosphere. This song, along with the video, showcases that raw energy and chaos we always love to deliver on stage and we can’t wait to share it with everyone live."

On their recent label signing, the band add: "We are also beyond excited to finally announce our signing with Seek and Strike. Being among so many incredible bands still feels a little unreal to us. With our upcoming EP and their amazing team in our corner, we're looking forward to playing as many live shows as possible and going absolutely crazy with all of our fans, old and new."

Hailing from Prešov, Slovakia, Abyss Above were founded in summer of 2015. Through the years and via many lineup changes, the band have grown stronger, solidifying their position as an important new deathcore act. With three EPs out already, Abyss Above shows no signs of stopping. The 2019 EP Doombound showcased a band ready to take it to the next level. The EP's first single 'Omega' made its way onto the official deathcore Spotify playlist. Their most recent work Inevitable End further proves that Abyss Above is a force to be reckoned with and displays the band's evolution. Turning away from standard deathcore songwriting styles, the band are experimenting with compositions and structures, inspired by the likes of Humanity's Last Breath and Reflections. The band's new EP is due for release later this year.

Abyss Above are:

Erik Gladič- Vocals
Martin Mikuška- Guitars
Tomáš Gladič - Guitars
Matúš Čonka- Bass
Josef Ronto- Drums

Noir pop quartet The Nightmares stream new single, 'Cursed'

Welsh noir pop outfit The Nightmares have unveiled their new single/video 'Cursed', ahead of their forthcoming debut album Séance, to be released 7th April via Venn Records (UK and Europe) and Equal Vision Records (USA and RoW).

Watch the video for 'Cursed' here: https://youtu.be/c4qemoJXmr0
Stream 'Cursed' here: https://thenightmares.lnk.to/cursed

Pre-order Séance here: https://thenightmares.lnk.to/seance

Vocalist Adam Parslow comments: “‘Cursed’ is a modern day ‘Jack & Sally’ love story. It is a song for anyone that has ever felt like life & luck are against you. It is our message to anyone that feels that way… we want you to know you are not alone. Keep your heart open, you never know where you might find love.

"For the music video, we teamed up with the incredibly talented shadow puppeteer Tania Yager, to bring our Tim Burton inspired vision to life using the ancient art of Shadow Play.”

Fresh from their support of post-hardcore heavyweights Casey, The Nightmares will be touring Séance at the following shows:

Co-headline with Miss Vincent:

Apr 19: Southampton Joiners
Apr 20: Newcastle Little Buildings
Apr 21: Leeds Boom
Apr 22: Newport The Westgate Hotel
Apr 23: Kingston Fighting Cocks

Forming in 2018, The Nightmares are as inspired by shared musical passions - The Cure, Placebo, Interpol - as they are by the art of seances themselves. Centred on the local music scene of Newport, South Wales, the quartet quickly embarked on their first UK tours in 2019, including supporting local legends Holding Absence. The Nightmares have also toured with Tiger Army, Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties, Bleak Soul, and supported Salem and Bad Nerves, among others.

Plans for future touring, along with the rest of the world, were derailed by the COVID pandemic. Instead, then, The Nightmares turned to writing music and experimenting with seances - and what unfolded during these long nights had a lasting effect on the band.

The noir pop quartet's recurring themes of death, love and mourning have already chimed with fans and critics alike, including early support from The i Paper, Clash, Kerrang! and more. Elements of The Cure, Salem and Interpol clash and collide throughout Séance, and listen out for a special guest feature from Creeper / Salem's Will Gould on track six, 'Murder Season'.

The Nightmares are:
Adam Parslow (Lead Vocals, Guitar)
Eleanor Coburn (Keys, Vocals)
Benjamin T. Mainwaring (Bass)

Instrumental psych/stoner trio Kanaan stream new single 'Orbit'

Instrumental stoner psych trio Kanaan have streamed their huge new fuzz-laden single 'Orbit', taken from their upcoming album, Downpour, to be released 5th May via Jansen Records.

Stream 'Orbit' and pre-order Downpour here: https://orcd.co/kanaan-orbit

The band comment: "'Orbit' is a simple ode to the worshipping of the good riff, a kind of primitive track we’ve wanted to do for a long time. Towards the end it explodes in an all-amps-on-10 psychedelic assault, reminiscent of some of our most extreme live experiences!"

Kanaan will be touring the triumphant new album in May. Full dates as follows:

May 4: NO Trondheim, Lokal Scene
May 5: NO Oslo, Parktreatret
May 6: NO Bergen, Hulen
May 17: DK Copenhagen, Stengade
May 18: DE Kiel, Schaubude
May 19: DE Berlin, Desertfest Berlin
May 20: DE Munich, Outdoor Opening
May 21: AT Vienna, Chelsea
May 22: HU Budapest, Dürer Kert
May 24: DE Kassel, Goldgrube
May 25: DE Hamburg, Bar 227
May 26: DK Esbjerg, Esbjerg Fuzztival
May 27: SE Malmö, Plan B
Aug 12: PT Moledo, Sonic Blast Festival
Aug 26: BE Rillaar, Down The Hill Festival

Kanaan produce so much music that their fuzz pedals are hardly switched off between each practice session. Once again, the young power trio now step out of the rehearsal room, and with them in tow is the brand new album Downpour.

It’s not difficult to hear that this is a continuation of their last album, Earthbound (2021, Jansen Records). Indeed, many of the ideas on the new album came about when they recorded their previous record in Athletic Sound in Halden. The heaviest songs on the album are a continuation of the idea of "The Great Riff" and the feeling of triumphant ecstasy when one good riff is replaced by another. Bands like Kyuss, MC5, Sleep and Hawkwind are still great sources of inspiration – while Needlepoint and Dungen are also important markers for the more melodic material on the album.

You truly have to hold tight and not fall out of your chair when Kanaan blast out the monster riffs on songs like 'Orbit', 'Solaris pt. 2' and not least 'Amazon', the new single released today, where they are joined by one of Norway's most kick-ass guitarists, Hedvig Mollestad. All three members of the band have long been fans of Mollestad and her music, and the fact that she is on their record is a dream come true.

The band themselves say they feel that the chemistry and songwriting on this record, to a greater extent, allows them to really own the rock language that they flirted with on Earthbound, and it feels like a worthy sequel to a record that has since become very important in the band’s history. It’s hard not to agree with that.

Since Kanaan released their fourth album Earthbound on Jansen Records in November 2021, they’ve also managed to release the 27-minute long single 'Beyond' and the session album Diversions vol. 1 – Softly through Sunshine. There are no days off in the calendars of Eskild Myrvoll, Ingvald André Vassbø and Ask Vatn Strøm

Doomgaze quartet Sugar Horse announce tour and new label

The ever-mercurial, boundary-pushing UK rock quartet Sugar Horse have announced their own new label home of Fat Dracula Records, and will be on tour in May.

Dates:

May 2: Cardiff, Clwb Ifor Bach
May 4: Bristol, Dareshack
May 5: Kingston, Fighting Cocks
May 6: Birmingham, Asylum II

Tickets: https://li.sten.to/shmaytour

Sugar Horse are riding high following the release of their storied collaborative EP Waterloo Teeth, which features members of Heriot, Conjurer, IDLES, Biffy Clyro, and many more.

A lot of people take the name Sugar Horse to be a drug reference - perhaps fitting for a band that sound like the last moments of a three-day binge. Darting wildly between dark/light, pain/bliss, sacred/profane, Sugar Horse are unpredictable and unrestrained.

Formed in what is now considered to be the utopian dreamscape of 2015, the band grew slowly at first. Far from fully formed, but steadily gaining limbs, heads and vital organs. Finally, 2019’s DRUJ followed swiftly by 2020’s DRUGS saw them hit on a relentless stride of eclectic releases that simultaneously confused and entranced audiences.

2021 saw the band encamp in a former Lutheran church to record their debut album, The Live Long After, releasing it via Brighton’s own Small Pond Records. Publications such as The Quietus describing the record as “shift[ing] dispositions fluidly, taking elements of extreme aggression alongside floaty Post-Metal” and Echoes & Dust calling it “a monumental achievement”. The album took every disparate element that Sugar Horse previously employed and amplified them, while juxtaposing each next to each other, with genuinely unpredictable and exciting consequences.

2022 saw no relent from the band’s fast pace release schedule, as they put out an anthemic shoegaze single in 'Pictures Of Dogs Having Sex', followed swiftly by the Waterloo Teeth EP. A release that paired Sugar Horse’s terrifying eclecticism with guest appearances from twelve other artists in just four short(ish) songs. Each artist coming from a different area of the modern British music scene, whether that be world conquering post-punk bass lines from IDLESAdam Devonshire, heavy titans Conjurer and Pupil Slicer’s throat crippling wails, or a shredding guitar solo from Biffy Clyro/Oceansize axe wielder Mike Vennart. The EP packs in an album’s worth of genre mutilating twists and turns into just 25 minutes of music.

About Fat Dracula Records:

Alas, 2023 saw the demise of the universally adored Small Pond Records. Such is life in the indie music sphere. Being insatiable control freaks, akin to tyrannical European royal families, Sugar Horse decided to seize the means of production with the help of fellow commie bastard, Small Pond founder Vlad Mateikov.

…And so
Fat Dracula Records was born. A vehicle for the band to release their own music, on their own terms. So join the insurgency and give us your hard earned money.

Shell Beach release cover of Hungarian hit 'Olyan Szépek Voltunk'

Hungarian experimental quintet Shell Beach have unveiled a cover of 90s hit single ‘Olyan Szépek Voltunk’ (We Were So Beautiful) by Tamás Somló (Omega, Locomotiv GT) - father of guitarist Pali Somló. The track is taken from the band's new album Solar Flare, released last month via Wild Thing Records.

Filmed on 35mm film, the video directed by Sébastien Praznoczy has a beautiful cinematic narrative. Watch here: https://youtu.be/pSdRXe6Erlc

Purchase / stream new album Solar Flare here: https://ffm.to/shellbeach_solarflare

Vocalist / guitarist Pali Somló comments: "I had the idea for the song about ten years ago. I had a favourite acoustic guitar at my father's place, and when I went over, I always played it. Once I was curled up on the couch strumming the chords of Deftones' Be 'Quite And Drive' when I heard the harmony of 'We Were So Beautiful'. From then on, the idea that we could do the song in our own style floated around in my head for years. In the meantime, unfortunately, my father passed away, and the band and I started working on Solar Flare. That's when it made sense to do this track.

"We have never sung in Hungarian, and I am not the lead singer of the band, but we made an exception in the case of 'We Were So Beautiful'. I love this track, it brings back so many beautiful memories and it's a chilling experience every time I play it. I think it became a highlight of the record."

Director Sébastien Praznoczy comments: "I was very moved when Pali told me that he had covered one of his father's songs. Although Tamás and Pali lived in different musical worlds, this track still nicely connects their relationship to music. With the fact that the song got a punkier, more hardcore sound, it only conveys the emotions even more strongly. Coming up with the concept of the clip was a long process, we wrote at least three different scenarios before we decided on the version shot on 35 mm. I always felt that love clips were clichéd, so I wanted to show that love is also friendship. Wrestling is a good allegory for this: it is not clear what is between the parties, there is also passion and love, the two guys develop together, even if life sometimes takes them in different directions.

"The video also features Robert Adamek, who was a very close friend of both me and the members of the band, and who died tragically shortly after filming. I already cut the clip in such a way that I found out overnight that Robert was no longer there. This affected the whole process and gave the music a new meaning. We dedicate this clip to his memory."

Shell Beach have announced a number of UK shows, including a headliner in London.

Dates:

PLAIINS tackle consumerism and intensity with punk anthem 'Chelsea Smile'

Fiery multinational rock trio PLAIINS are back with new single 'Chelsea Smile', a hard-hitting punk anthem about consumerism and identity.

Watch the visualiser to 'Chelsea Smile' here: https://youtu.be/ltS1HX-hanE

Stream here: https://linktr.ee/plaiinsband

Vocalist / guitarist Chris Reardon tackles this topic in the form of a Bonnie and Clyde story, depicting images of a Sin City-esque scene. He comments "'Chelsea Smile' is a hard hitting catchy punk anthem with elements of old school hardcore, indie rock and a psychedelic narrated bridge section. The song has a gloomy, foggy and fierce feeling with a sense of sarcasm and dark humour, driving ever forward with reckless momentum. The story starts with the protagonist committing credit card fraud buying an expensive car to feel adequate and also please his partner’s wishes. As the story progresses and escalates to  bank robbery the story takes a turn for the worse when the protagonist then mutilates his partner. The song gives you a sense of being inside the mind of a deranged, almost schizophrenic person as he goes about doing these things with a strange sense of coolness".

This follows previous single ''POLIDICKS', a fun yet serious attack on the establishment. Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/hA8i6nJyHfY

Founded in 2021 PLAIINS is an in-your-face rock band that pull influences from punk, alternative rock, indie and metal that have quickly grown to prominence on the underground circuit with their infectious hooks, hard hitting lyrics and huge sound.

Chris Reardon from the UK / Hong Kong (vocals / guitars), Tal Pinhas from Israel (bass / guitars) and David “Dizzy” Suhlrie from Germany (drums) have a chemistry that concocts songs with power, aggression, big riffs and infectious hooks, that captivate audiences with their uniqueness. Lyrically the band confronts issues in politics, inequality, heartbreak, and mental health, inspired by their diverse range of cultural perspectives.

Since the release of their first single 'The Wolf' in April 2022, PLAIINS have been consistently added to some of the world’s biggest playlists on Spotify including All New Rock, All New Punk, Fresh Finds Rock and Alternarock. PLAIINS were quickly added to BBC Introducing’s new favourites with frequent airplay and their single 'C-A-P-I-T-A-L' released in December 2022, gained ‘Track Of The Week’. The band's previous single continue their momentum with radio play across UK, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Canada.

2022 saw the band hit the live circuit, with a highlight supporting Press Club, playing in Berlin to a sold out crowd. 2023 promises to be a big year for PLAIINS with more new music and touring on the horizon. More news soon.

El Moono have released a cover of the song 'Eastman' by UK rock quartet InTechnicolour, taken from InTechnicolour's upcoming album Midnight Heavyweight Remixed. A collection of unique takes on songs from their recent album Midnight Heavyweight, the album features remixes and covers by Jamie Lenman, CLT DRP, Skin Failure and more.

El Moono's Zac Jackson comments: "Having been a fan of InTechnicolour for years, even before starting El Moono, it was an absolute honour to work with them. Structuring a cover of their wonderful closing track was an amazing experience to record and we hope we gave this track the justice it deserves."

InTechnicolour's Tobie Anderson commented: "'Eastman' is one of the most personal tunes on the album. It just fell into place with both myself writing the lyrics and Dave when he wrote the guitar parts. It’s about anxiety and mental health, but more specifically the worry that if my mental health goes south, will those that love me still be there for me. It deals with fears of abandonment and fears of loneliness. But most of all it talks about the struggles of worry on top of worry and how that might affect the relationships that mean the most to me."

The single follows the powerfully immersive version of 'Corner Of Time In The World' by Sugar Horse, and Jamie Lenman's excellent cover of 'The Wave', both of which appear on Midnight Heavyweight Remixed

Also appearing on Midnight Heavyweight Remixed are Bully Lunn, Lambrini Girls, Frauds and God Alone, full track list is below.

Hailing from Brighton, InTechnicolour are a riffy, groovy, rock band with a knack for creating a colourful song or two. Formed in 2015 through a want to play loud music through slightly broken amps, the basis of the band was created.

InTechnicolour are an inventive four-piece comprised of technically gifted musicians, cutting loose and playing music that’s about as far removed from their day jobs as it’s possible to get – and they are doing it better than a good portion of their contemporaries. Landing somewhere between the slack desert-groove of Kyuss and Karma To Burn, the band combine deeply satisfying riffs with a dynamic vocal style, which calls to mind the sounds of Baroness, Alice In Chains and Soundgarden.

InTechnicolour have previously toured across the UK and Europe with the likes of Physics House Band, Black Peaks, Town Portal, Bitch Falcon and Haggard Cat.
