Groundbreaking Indonesian trio Voice Of Baceprot release new single 'The Enemy of Earth is You'

Groundbreaking Indonesian trio Voice Of Baceprot have released their new single 'The Enemy of Earth is You'.

Stream: https://li.sten.to/the-enemy-of-earth-is-you

2016. The year when natural disasters wreaked havoc across Indonesia. A staggering 1,985 events struck the nation - among them, the flash floods that swept the region of Garut in West Java.

Born and raised in a corner of Garut, Voice Of Baceprot received the shock of their lives. 'The Enemy of Earth is You' is their result: it encapsulates their anxiety after witnessing just how catastrophic the disasters are, and expresses the band's broken hearts and agony.

In the word's of VOB's vocalist Marsya"It is a song that summarises our loathing towards anyone who becomes an enemy of the Earth. On the flip side, the single reminds us not to turn into one of them."

Realising the severity of the damage, VOB have increasingly campaigned for climate change initiatives. As a result, the group have aligned the single release with the Music Declares Emergency initiative. This joins over 6,600 musicians and music industry professionals to use music as a means of raising public awareness about climate issues and the protection of life on Earth.

With their NO MUSIC ON A DEAD PLANET campaign, Music Declares Emergency have garnered support from artists including Billie Eilish, Arcade Fire, The 1975, Imogen Heap, Fatboy Slim, Major Lazer, and Tom Morello

'The Enemy of Earth is You' will also be included in Voice Of Baceprot's upcoming debut album Retas, which is set to drop in July 2023.

There are few groups as powerful and potent as Indonesian rock trio Voice of Baceprot (pronounced ‘bah-che-prot’, often abbreviated as VOB).

Forming in Garut, West Java, in 2014 while still at school, the band – Marsya (vocals/guitar), Widi (bass) and Sitti (drums) named their band after the Sundanese word for ‘noisy’: a true representation of their style of music.

The band are already celebrated across the globe for their indomitable attitude and power of representation.

One of the most exciting musical voices from Southeast Asia, VOB began to turn heads with early viral covers of Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Slipknot, and Metallica, garnering attention from local and international media, as well as endorsements and praise from Tom Morello and Flea.

Besides their obvious prodigious musical talent, it was also the unique and contradictory combination of heavy rock and their wearing of the hijab that have caught the eye of many.

The group have overcome many obstacles in their still-young career, not least facing opposition from conservative Muslims in their home country, and stereotyping elsewhere due to their hijab-wearing on stage.

In the words of Marsya: "Wearing a hijab should not be a barrier to the group's pursuit of its dream of being heavy metal stars... I think gender equality should be supported because I feel I am still exploring my creativity, while at the same time, not diminishing my obligations as a Muslim woman".

Themes of empowerment and celebration run throughout Voice Of Baceprot's work. Their previously-released single, the monumental ‘(NOT) PUBLIC PROPERTY’ was released in conjunction with UK Government to collect donations for victims of sexual violence and abuse.

The anthemic single 'PMS', short for perempuan merdeka seutuhnya ("completely independent women"), celebrates women who are breaking stereotypes and boundaries in all forms.

The origin of 'PMS' is from VOB’s own background, when the band members still lived in their village in rural Indonesia. A conservative community, there are few career options for women after school - by choosing a career in music, Voice Of Baceprot have been marked by some as an anomaly or rebel in their community. 'PMS' is then a solidarity call for all women who face the same problems but march on regardless, to keep doing what they love.

This fearless and fearsome approach has already cemented VOB’s position as a hugely exciting prospect – and noticed by key media players globally, including The New York Times, The Guardian, NME, Metal Hammer, Kerrang!, and many more across USA, Europe, and beyond.

In summer 2022 VOB performed at Wacken Open Air 2022 to over 5,000 fans, and have collectively garnered close to ten million views and streams of their music across all platforms.

German doom metallers Moor release title track/video 'Heavy Heart' (Blood Blast Distribution / Believe Digital)

Hamburg doom quintet Moor have unveiled their heart-wrenching album title track and video which is taken from debut album Heavy Heart, released today, 17th May via Believe Digital.

Watch the video for 'Heavy Heart' here: https://youtu.be/r-dBC-qMAYA

Stream the single and order Heavy Heart here: https://moor.bfan.link/breath-like-nails

Vocalist Ercüment Kasalar commented on 'Heavy Heart': "The day is finally here, you can listen to Heavy Heart in its entirety everywhere! We can’t thank you enough for the support we have received over the last few months and can assure you that this Heavy Heart will keep beating strong!"

The colossal sound of Heavy Heart, Moor's first album, is created in a vulnerable place. Loud and scratchy, desolate and intimidating, full of despair and an intimate, almost overpowering sense of yearning. And slow, draggingly slow like the shuffling step of death. "I love to move in atmospheric walls of sound, to sink into them and become one with them," band founder Ercüment Kasalar explains his preference for doom. "I can't do that in fast music, it's just too hectic for my relaxed mindset."

Heavy Heart was written and recorded by the original line-up featuring singer and guitarist Kasalar, guitarists Ben Laging and David Kaiser, bassist Christian Smukal and drummer Chad Popple. All of them have earned their spurs in other bands or projects and have appeared with Tephra, Sport, The Ocean, Gorge Trio or rha

Moor's sound is closer to Omega Massif or Neurosis than to Sabbath stoner clones, regurgitated and dragged into the light from deep within, that primal place where you only go when you really have to. And Moor had to, within weeks of recording, two band members were diagnosed with cancer – Ben Laging and Christian Smukal. Tragically in 2022, co-founder and bassist Smukal lost his battle, tearing a huge gap in the band's structure. Heavy Heart is his farewell letter, his mournful legacy.

"For me, it's a gift to be a part of Christian's last recordings," says guitarist David Kaiser. "The sessions together before we went into the studio were very inspiring." Kasalar adds, "Everything we did during that time, all the strokes of fate we went through together formed this heavy heart, and it will keep beating." In the current line-up, bassist Ralph Ulrich (Kavrila) as well as drummer Elinor Lüdde (Corecass) complete a band that operates where it really hurts.

There was never any question of not continuing the band. Because it was Christian's wish, as Ben Laging emphasises. And now we all can hear this Heavy Heart, this gnarling, this hurting, this serious album serving as the last memory of an old friend and companion but at the same time the beginning of something new, something big.

Heavy Heart is neither overly brutal nor transfiguredly beautiful. It's an album akin to this alluring, cruel experiment called life. It can be tough, certainly not for cowards. Instead, it's for people who face life and who know how to savour it despite all of its heaviness. Catharsis through pain. This is Moor

Lord Of The Lost release new video 'The Curtain Falls'

Following a terrific performance in front of 200 million live viewers at the Eurovision Song Contest grand final this weekend, Lord Of The Lost are back to their "normal" lives, gearing up for 10 shows with Iron Maiden, major festival appearances and sold-out headline shows on their schedule. The band are thrilled to release a new video for the song 'The Curtain Falls', celebrating the best highlights of the past year - including sold-out club shows, the stadium tour with Iron Maiden and countless other standout moments.

Watch the video for 'The Curtain Falls' here: https://youtu.be/Dxw6T4-2xPQ

The single 'The Curtain Falls' was released last Friday 12th May, as part of the Earbook and Digital Deluxe version of the #1-charting album, Blood & Glitter. The new version includes six new studio tracks, great featured artists, singles released physically for the first time and alternate versions of the album tracks from Blood & Glitter.

Vocalist Chris Harms says: "'The Curtain Falls' was written the day after I bought Steve Harris' signature model E-bass. Last year's tour with Iron Maiden burned itself into our hearts in such a way that we wanted to give back some of that energy. We put that energy into 'The Curtain Falls'. So this song will be our opening song for all Iron Maiden and festival shows this summer. We just came back from the ESC, where we had the time of our lives, and are looking forward to an unforgettable live summer."

The band comment on Eurovision Song Contest“Thank you, everyone, for this amazing experience! We loved every second of it! So, we‘re going back to our old lives now and we are looking forward to a most amazing festival summer, many sold-out shows and a second tour with Iron Maiden!

"Thanks to all of the other artists that we‘ve met on the road to Eurovision - you all deserve all the success and the love, and may all your dreams come true!

"And last but not least, thanks to EVERYONE on our team: you have helped us to make our dream of Eurovision become reality.

"We leave Liverpool tomorrow, knowing that we couldn‘t possibly have put more effort, time and love into the undertaking of participating here! And now the big question remains: who will Germany send next year to break the curse?

"Chris, Pi, Klaas, Gared & Nik”

When conjuring the concept of Blood & Glitter, the band were inspired by the eponymous work of legendary music photographer Mick Rock, known for taking a large majority of the most famous photos of musicians in the 70s glam rock era. Lord Of The Lost visually immerse themselves in the lifestyle of that era and combine it with the new wave and pop sound of the 80s, building on their own familiar dark metal foundation. The result: a glamorous party with critical and direct messages.

Baltimore-based nu-punk quartet Cherie Amour have shared a gripping acoustic version of 'Love's Not Your Thing', which originally appeared on their sweeping 2022 debut album Spiritual Ascension (Rude / Equal Vision Records).

Cherie Amour have built hype throughout the year with a series of singles that have garnered them acclaim from fans and critics alike. 'Losing Control', 'Sin City', 'Letting Go', and 'Love's Not Your Thing' gave fans a taste of the creative diversity that shines brightly on their debut full-length, paired with official music videos that introduced the distinct personality and style of the group.

Their latest acoustic offering captures the same lightning-in-a-bottle song writing and caustic attitude that made the original version of the track special, while deconstructing the song to emphasize lead singer Trey Miller's powerful vocals and earnest lyrics.

The band will join Ryan Oakes and LAYTO on the North American 'Wake Up' tour starting 14th May in Phoenix, AZ.

Stream/purchase Spiritual Ascension here: https://cherieamour.lnk.to/SpiritualAscension

Spiritual Ascension is a creative tour de force that effortlessly explores the sonic landscape of punk rock, pop-punk, electronic-tinged pop and hip-hop. All 11 songs are absolutely dripping with attitude, and each serves as a statement on the band's versatile songwriting ability. The album boasts a colossal amount of production value, courtesy of longtime producer Alan Day (Four Year Strong). Spiritual Ascension takes listeners on a rollercoaster ride punctuated by pulsating, club-friendly grooves, moments of metallic fury, stage-dive anthems and a heartfelt lyrical sensibility throughout. The band have a fearless creativity they aren't afraid to flex -  Spiritual Ascension is proof that Cherie Amour are amongst the bright rising stars in alternative music.

The band comment on their debut album:

Spiritual Ascension feels like it picks up where [previous release] Internal Discussions left off. Since the release of our first EP we’ve all gone through huge life changes not only musically, but in our personal lives too. We’ve grown a lot as people and as musicians and we really felt that while writing this record. We dive deeper into our heavier side as well as our RnB and hip-hop side. When you listen to this record we hope it brings you peace of mind that we’re all trying to find our place in this world, and no matter what you’re going through you will always have the people around you."

About UK Tech-Fest:

Following the huge success of the first UK Tech-Fest selling out in 2012, the festival went outdoors in 2013 hosting headliners Scar Symmetry, Veil Of Maya and TesseracT. 2014 saw UK Tech-Fest move to the prestigious Newark Showground hosting Sikth's second show after their reunion, and the following year UK Tech-Fest 2015 hosted an exclusive UK appearance from Decapitated. UK Tech-Fest 2016 - The Fifth Anniversary - was a milestone in this festival's career, by far their biggest and best edition to date hosting Animals As Leaders and exclusive appearances from Between The Buried And Me and Protest The Hero. UK Tech-Fest 2017 had its heaviest line-up to date, 2018 had its largest ever attendance and in 2019 solidified its reputation as the UK's most forward-thinking metal festival. 2022 saw the festival's triumphant return after the COVID19 pandemic, headlined by Scar Symmetry, The Ocean and God is an Astronaut, confirming UK Tech-Fest as one of the most important events in the UK calendar.

Sicksense stream new single / video 'Feed Them To The Wolves'

Nu-metal rising stars Sicksense, featuring Killer V (Vicky Psarakis formerly of The Agonist) and Rob The Ripper (Robby J. Fonts of Stuck Mojo), have release new single 'Feed Them To The Wolves' along with another brilliantly entertaining music video. This is the second single taken from their new EP Fools Tomorrow, set for release on 11th June.

Watch the video for 'Feed Them To The Wolves' here: https://youtu.be/Na0od-ah66k

Stream the single and pre-order Fools Tomorrow here: https://soundescapeagency.com/sicksense/foolstomorrow

Killer V comments on the single: "'Feed Them To The Wolves' is a multifaceted song. The lyrics were written collaboratively between Rob and I, which led to that beautiful contrast.

My inspiration and emotional connection to it came from my own life as a musician. Being in this industry, there's this constant feeling that what you're doing is never enough. From the music you're creating to the content and interactions you have with others over social media, you're often left feeling drained and your efforts unappreciated. In current times, people always crave more and some fans develop these parasocial relationships in their minds that come with a strong sense of entitlement. You do one thing they don't like; you're criticized, you say one thing they don't like; you're crucified, you create music that's different from what they're used to; you're abandoned.

"All these things can cripple you emotionally and make you feel like a puppet to your audience, as you're always trying to appease them. However, the strings are imaginary. At the end of the day what you choose to do should be your own decision. As long as you're able to connect with and impact some people's lives positively, what you're doing is enough. Opening your arms to the world is a scary feeling, but every beautiful thing that comes with it is ultimately worth it."

Outliers never stick to the script. Instead, they constantly and consistently surprise. As such, Sicksense bob and weave past any and all boundaries, flipping convention upside down and fusing heavy metal, hip-hop, and alternative like never before. Extreme screams puncture nimbly rapped verses, tempering a male-and-female call-and-response and giving the metal game a truly “new” sound. Unpredictability drives the quintet—Vicky “Killer V” [vocals, keys], Rob The Ripper [vocals], Breakdown Bran [guitar], Spot-On Sam/SOS [bass], and The Trve Cody Taylor [drums]. After piling up hundreds of thousands of streams and views independently with their debut EP Kings Today, the group present their scorching signature style on second EP Fools Tomorrow

On the new EP, Killer V continues: "The songs across ‘Fools Tomorrow’ deal with a lot of introspection and how we as individuals fit into this crazy world of ours. We take a raw, open and honest approach with this EP and the music and stories take you on an emotional rollercoaster. We hope you enjoy being on this ride with us."

Sicksense have also announced two EP release headline shows at Turbo Haus in Montreal, Canada, on the 9th and 10th of June. Get tickets here: https://soundescapeagency.com/sicksense/events

notverynicecream is another staggering release from one of the UK's most inventive and unusual bands. Eclectic, irreverent, titanically heavy and saturated throughout with a signature sense of British whimsy, the album will only see Phoxjaw's star rising further.

Written in various states of lockdown, notverynicecream is a glimpse into Phoxjaw's future mindset. A sugar-sweet sense of abandon covers darker feelings of loneliness, depression, and isolation. Where the band's debut album, Royal Swan, was a record of nationally-expressed extroversion, notverynicecream is Phoxjaw's declaration of introversion. Nihilism, nostalgia and suffering served in a sugary cone; progressive, punishing sonics glossed over with lustrous hyper-pop influences.

notverynicecream follows a busy period for the Bristolian oddballs - the group made their debut Download appearance in 2022, performed two magnificent sets at 2000trees, and have shortly returned from a sell-out tour with Norwegian deathpop group Blood Command, as well as their debut performance at Germany's Reeperbahn Festival.

Death Metallers Creeping Death release new single/video 'The Common Breed'

Texas death metal outfit Creeping Death have released their new single, 'The Common Breed' with an accompanying video. The track is the second single to be taken from their long-awaited full-length, Boundless Domain, which is set for release on 16th June via MNRK Heavy

Watch the video for 'The Common Breed' here: https://youtu.be/LqXR5uvvrlE

Pre-order the album Boundless Domain here: https://creepingdeath.ffm.to/boundlessdomain

Creeping Death are on a quick and furious ascent from the underground. The death metal crew have repeatedly delivered a relentless bludgeoning summoned from the furthest reaches of the genre's past, present, and future. A triumphant celebration of the style itself, the Lone Star State fivesome whip up gruesome riffage and Southern grooves with an improbable cathartic glee.

As Revolver Magazine observed, Creeping Death "assemble hulking riffs, screaming guitar solos, and ghastly vocal lows, and play them with the urgent momentum of a sterling hardcore band." The band's formula hits perfection with the brilliant Boundless Domain, a sophomore slice of spectacular weight, girth, and might. Produced by Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz (As I Lay Dying, The Acacia Strain, Underoath), Boundless Domain is a certified ripper, top to bottom.

In the wake of the passing of local heroes Riley Gale of Power Trip and Wade Allison of Iron Age, the band - guitarist Trey Pemberton, singer Reese Alavi, bassist Eric "Rico" Mejia, drummer Lincoln Mullins, and guitarist A.J. Ross, found themselves digging back into some of their metallic hardcore favourites. "We made it a point to bring in more influences from hardcore bands we came up loving, especially Texas hardcore," Pemberton explains. "There's a lot of Mammoth Grinder, Iron Age, and Power Trip influence. Having Riley and Wade pass so close to one another left a huge hole in the scene. We all went on a kick of listening to the Texas stuff for a while, and it definitely seeped into our writing."

Boundless Domain boasts future death metal classics like the super heavy, fast, and groovy 'Intestinal Wrap,' which features George 'Corpsegrinder' Fisher of Cannibal Corpse. 'Vitrified Earth' showcases Creeping Death's increasing skills at song-craft, most evident with the cadence and phrasing of Alavi's vocals while never neglecting the sick riffs. Toward the album's end, there's even a bit of a spaced-out atmosphere, with guitar effects, harmonies, and heady time signatures.

About Creeping Death
Originally hailing from Denton, Texas, and now situated in the greater Dallas-Fort Worth area, Creeping Death summon a vibrant sound that is somehow both familiar and fresh. Their initial outburst, 2016's three-song Sacrament Of Death, introduced them to death and thrash metal audiences, followed two years later by the Specter Of War EP. By the time they unleashed 2019's Wretched Illusions album, Kerrang! hailed Creeping Death as "an underground juggernaut" that "channels all the raddest aspects of metal without getting shoehorned into any clichés." 2021's The Edge Of Existence EP further demonstrated the power, fury, and revelry at the heart of their identity.

Tours with High On Fire, The Acacia Strain, Rotting Out, Terror, and The Warriors spread the Creeping Death message. Crowds succumbed to the group's combination of endlessly catchy riffage, precise percussion, and storytelling lyrics. Early 2023 saw Creeping Death travel overseas to the UK and Europe with Revocation and Goatwhore. A US trek supporting Carcass, Municipal Waste, and Sacred Reich is on the books. The journey kicks off on 31st March in Santa Ana, California and winds its way through two dozen cities, closing on April 30th in Los Angeles, California.

Thrashcore band Tortured Demon release new single 'Global Threat'

Few bands can claim to have played a festival set so hard that the stage broke. Fewer still can claim to have done so when still barely teens.

Then again, Manchester-based thrashcore band Tortured Demon are already onto something special.

The band today celebrate the release of their huge new single, 'Global Threat', taken from their forthcoming new album Rise Of The Lifeless, released 2nd June.

Aged between 17-22, the group have already opened for Evile and Xentrix in 2022, and, at Bloodstock 2021, such was their performance, the Jagermeister Stage fell down around them.

Drawing the largest crowd ever seen on that stage, Tortured Demon have since been invited back to perform at Bloodstock 2023, where surely they wouldn’t be able to repeat the feat.

Releasing their debut in 2021, recorded when all bandmembers were still at school, Tortured Demon have moved up a gear with their new record, Rise Of The Lifeless.

Rise Of The Lifeless will be self-released by the band worldwide, except for Japan, where they’ve already inked a deal with Spiritual Beast/Universal Music Japan. Tortured Demon’s debut – In Desperation’s Grip – was DiskUnion (Tokyo’s leading record store)’s best-selling international metal record on release week. Again, no mean feat for a band so young.

Suffice to say, the quartet have been hammering their way through the UK Metal Scene. Their line-up consists of brothers Jacob (Vocals and Guitar, 17) and Joe Parkinson (Drums, 19), joined by Billy Houigan (Lead Guitar, 19) and Sean Xavier (Bass and Backing Vocals, 23) completing the ground-shaking quartet. Combining Thrash riffs and Hardcore breakdowns with technical drums, all whilst maintaining a strong focus on quality songwriting, Tortured Demon bring a fresh yet classic sound to the UK scene.

Over the last 6 months Tortured Demon have been writing and recording their second album Rise Of The Lifeless with producer David Radahd-Jones, whilst playing select shows. Tortured Demon have built a loyal live following nationwide thanks to their high-octane live show, and will surely make this year their own.
