UK metal quartet HERIOT announce Architects shows

Jul 30: PL Warsaw Progresja Summer Stage (w/ ArchitectsImminence)
Aug 02: HU Budapest Budapest Park (w/ ArchitectsSleep Token)

The band then toured Profound Morality on their debut, sold-out, headline run across the UK: another highlight in an already-busy 2023 for the band. In February HERIOT toured with Rolo Tomassi, including their first dates in Europe. HERIOT then supported Lamb of God in March, and Thy Art Is Murder in April.

Globally critically-acclaimed, HERIOT have performed to packed tents at Download Festival, 2000trees, BloodstockArcTanGent, gathering a legion of fans in the process.

Vocalist/guitarist Debbie Gough comments on 'Demure': "'Demure' depicts the conflict of remaining integral in a world overwhelmed by scrutiny. It sheds light on the loss of being an individual while attempting the unattainable pursuit of neutrality. This is the first new music released since our debut EP, Profound Morality, and opens a new era for HERIOT which we are very excited to begin!’

HERIOT then went on to tour with Zeal & Ardor and Boston Manor, displaying a range few new bands can emulate. Fully-focused and with a razor-sharp edge, the awe-inspiring double-vocal attack of Jake Packer and Debbie Gough is all-conquering; the titanic support of Erhan Alman (guitar) and Julian Gage (drums) rock-solid.

HERIOT have deservedly been grabbing attention with all four pairs of hands, weaponising metallic sludge and hardcore, unholy levels of distortion, speed and gut-punching talent. Elements of NailsKnocked LooseCode Orange, and Vein.fm combine and collide to exhilarating effect, to create a new sound that is truly groundbreaking, fully worthy of the notice the band are achieving.

In their short recent history HERIOT have caught the attention of Metal Hammer, Rock Sound, Brooklyn Vegan, Kerrang!, Revolver, and Knotfest, among many others, "one of the most promising young bands in modern metalcore", and "probably the best new metal band in Britain".

Profound Morality is out now via Church Road Records, available here: https://bfan.link/profound-morality

HERIOT are:

Jake Packer - Vocals/Bass

Californian sludge metallers Armed For Apocalypse announce UK tour with Hundred Year Old Man

With many claiming Ritual Violence as 2022's heaviest album, Californian sludge metal crew Armed For Apocalypse return to the United Kingdom to unleash their blasts of relentless fury.

The band will tour across July with Hundred Year Old Man, alongside Codespeaker and Void of Light.

Dates:

Jul 01 Newark Showground, UK Tech-Fest [tickets]
Jul 04 Edinburgh Bannerman's [tickets]
Jul 06 Sheffield Corporation [tickets]
Jul 07 Bournemouth Bear Cave [tickets]
Jul 08 London Boston Music Rooms [tickets]
Jul 09 Manchester Star & Garter [tickets]

Order their last album: https://armedforapocalypse.lnk.to/RitualViolence

New album Ritual Violence is an uncompromising aural onslaught and sees the band at their most aggressive. Both a product and expression of their never-die attitude, it’s the album Armed for Apocalypse always wanted to make, with the engineer they wanted to make it, Kurt Ballou, God City (Converge, High On Fire, Every Time I Die) and the label they wanted to partner with, Candlelight Records. Featuring guest appearances from Andreas Kisser (Sepultura) on track 'Foredoomed' and Trevor Phipps (Unearth) on 'Suffer For A Living', it is Armed for Apocalypse refined to its purest form: 0 percent frills, 100 percent heavy riffs.

Forming in California in the aughts, Armed for Apocalypse quickly released 2009’s Defeat (Ironclad Recordings). That’s where they laid out their mission statement: we are going to tune low, play riffs, and make heavy metal that makes you bang your fucking head. Real amps turned up, real drums hit hard, no bullshit. 2013’s The Road Will End (Ironclad) complicated their thesis, the band experimenting with new structures and incorporating a broader sonic palette. But member changes and new life directions led to a challenging five years before their next release, 2018’s Palm Reader EP. Now, in 2022, they return more focused than ever with their most potent and unwavering album to date. Ritual Violence is eleven tracks of bludgeoning skullf*ckery;  a record from a band who are confident in who they are, and what they want to do. And who won’t let anything get in the way of that. Not the years. Not the heartache. Not an industry that devalues its creators. Nothing.

Armed for Apocalypse has never done it the easy way. But on this latest record is a statement and a promise: they will do it their way.

Voyager are flying high following their synthsational appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, where they placed #9 in the Grand Final and winning their semi-final outright.

The band performed their incredible song 'Promise', which you can watch here: https://youtu.be/agG7ShZGfJM. Winning accolades worldwide, the single has since charted, hitting the Spotify viral charts, and catapulting Voyager to national and international fame.

Not content to rest, they will release their mighty new album Fearless In Love - their eighth - on 14th July via Season of Mist. Pre-order here: https://listen.voyagerau.com/fearlessinlove

Voyager - comprised of Daniel “Danny” Estrin (vocals/keyboards), Simone Dow (guitars), Scott Kay (guitars), Alex Canion (bass) and Ashley Doodkorte (drums) - have been creating music together for over a decade. Fearless In Love pairs sweeping vocals with emotive lyrics, inspired by the grit and glam of 80's and 90's film.

This cohort of dynamic talents and personalities initially came together twelve years ago. Since then, they’ve unleashed a string of fan favourite albums - V [2014], Ghost Mile [2017], and Colours in the Sun [2019]—in addition to sharing stages with the likes of Deftones, Leprous, Devin Townsend, Opeth, and Poppy to name a few.

As much as you can rely on the Earth’s elliptical orbit, you can depend on Voyager to consistently evolve. The band’s interplanetary balance of virtuosic pyrotechnics and skyscraping radio-ready hooks morphs at the speed of sound from one era to the next. In bursts of bright light, luminous keys, neon guitar wizardry, and stratosphere-shaking rhythms, they elevate hard rock to another realm. The group blast off on a signature hybrid of prog, rock, and metal possibly best described as the musical equivalent of Guardians of the Galaxy - truly out of this world.

Voyager are:

Danny Estrin (Vocals, Keytar)
A keytar wielding, songwriting powerhouse who is a lawyer by day and a rockstar by night. Not only is Danny an award-winning lawyer, but his multilingual abilities are an asset to Voyager’s live shows all around the world, allowing the band to connect on a deeper level with their international audience, mesmerised by his ‘80s vocal timbre.

Simone Dow (Guitars)
A firecracker of a guitarist whose chronic pain condition only drives her further to succeed. An advocate of migraine awareness, the 7-string guitarist shreds and brings an energy to the stage unmatched by anyone else in the scene.

Scott Kay (Guitars)
Scott’s technical proficiency and energy perfectly compliment his sister in shred, syncopating their efforts on stage and providing a twin attack on guitars. Scott’s philosophical approach to music shines through in his performance, executing a deep and meaningful energy to every live show.

Alex Canion (Bass)
The face of bass, and a killer vocalist to boot. Alex is a force of nature and connects with all his peers on stage in a way that brings a dynamic that is hard to rival in any band. Providing epic moments in the songs alongside a rhythmic foundation, Alex’s personality brings an eccentric and expressive outpour to Voyager’s shows.

Ash Doodkorte (Drums)
The most bombastic drummer you’ll ever see. Leading the charge with impact and momentum, Ash’s drumming is indefatigable. Not only is he a master of his craft, but he also specialises in another craft topic, beer.

Los Angeles, California's Nekrogoblikon are melodic hard rock pranksters who deploy gnarly death metal earworms filled with crafty hooks, claw-pumping choruses, lightning-fast riffs, and over the top, EDM-style keyboard flourishes. With their ostentatious goblin hypeman John Goblikon, the band takes cues from hyperbolic horror-metal enthusiasts like GWAR, Finntroll, and Dethklok, while maintaining an affable, self-referential sense of humour. The group's early outings, like 2007's Goblin Island, were largely low-fidelity affairs, but by the early 2010s, Nekrogoblikon were operating at a far higher technical level, and employing a rotating cast of talented players.

Founded in 2006, Nekrogoblikon self-produced their debut album, the relatively lo-fi Goblin Island, in a basement. The LP was released in 2007, and an expanded line-up was quickly assembled to help flesh out the fledgling group's audacious live shows. The more technically proficient Stench arrived in 2011, and included the single 'No One Survives' — the video written and directed by Brandon Dermer (Panic At The Disco, Every Time I Die, Diplo, Dillon Francis) became a viral hit, and landed the band festival slots at Download Festival in the UK and Rock Im Park/Rock Am Ring in Germany. The Power EP was issued the following year, and in 2014 the band joined Limp Bizkit on the Kerrang! Tour. In 2015 they released the concept LP Heavy Meta via their own Mystery Box label, and in 2018, Nekrogoblikon issued their fourth studio long-player, Welcome to Bonkers, which was followed by extensive touring including performing on the entirety of the final cross-country Vans Warped Tour and Summer Slaughter. In between touring stints, the band (along with Brandon Dermer and writer/actor Dave Rispoli) released three seasons of RIGHT NOW, a comedic talk show starring band mascot John Goblikon. The series features a wide array of high profile guests including comedian Bobby Lee, The Used, Keith Buckley from Every Time I Die, Wes Borland from Limp Bizkit, and Joe Trohman from Fall Out Boy

Lord Of The Lost release lyric video for 'noituLOVEr'

Roughly three weeks after their great experience at the Eurovision Song Contest, LORD OF THE LOST have since returned to their "normal" life. Following their first festivals and concerts after the event, they are now on tour with the mighty Iron Maiden across Europe. In addition, there will be multiple headline and festival shows, as well as concerts with Powerwolf and Amon Amarth, and their very own LORDFEST festival in Hamburg.

The Germans have also released the official lyric video for 'noituLOVEr'. The song, influenced by the new wave and synth pop sound of the 80s, was released shortly before the Eurovision Song Contest as part of the Earbook and Digital Deluxe Edition of the band’s #1-charting album, Blood & Glitter. Shortly after the release, Blood & Glitter entered the Official German Album Charts again at #2.

Chris Harms (vocalist/frontman) says:

"Lyric videos are not really our thing at all. But for a song like 'noituLoVEr', or 'LOVE Revolution' as it is pronounced, where the lyrics are undeniably the most important thing, a lyric video was the only thing that made sense. 'LOVE Revolution' is a song for all those who, even nowadays, still feel like they don't quite fit in, in the prefabricated open puzzle pieces that our society leaves for us. Such as me. It's equally a song for all those who are responsible for this problem. As long as any diversity in love is not as natural and accepted as breathing, it is important to stand up for the uniqueness of it – and to release songs like these."

Drift Away share video for 'Where The Air Stands Still'

Portland, OR-based heavy-hitters Drift Away have shared a music video for their track 'Where The Air Stands Still'. This is a video-only release; the song will hit streaming services on 16th June as the band unveil their highly-anticipated debut EP Chapter 1: Misery

Watch 'Where The Air Stands Still': https://youtu.be/_pcg9XY0WQ8

Pre-Order Chapter 1: Miseryhttps://driftawayband.bigcartel.com

'Where The Air Stands Still' follows the previously released singles 'Haunted' and 'Never Really Here', both of which will feature on the EP. The two videos were released via BVTV, one of the most watched rock music channels on YouTube, giving the band a huge platform for their debut releases.

Vocalist Ernell Pearson comments: "'Where The Air Stands Still' is about grieving the loss of a loved one, how we choose to handle that grief when someone we care about deeply is taken from us, and how one can easily feel like they failed this person when they were still alive. When my siblings and I were mostly teenagers, we lost our oldest brother and it gave way for a massive chasm to take hold of our family, especially so for my younger sisters who were very close to him. When someone you love passes away, you have to build a better relationship with death in order for you to continue on without feeling like you could have or should have done more to prevent it from happening.

"All these years later, I’m a dad now. I wrote this song from a place of wanting to always do right by my daughter because that relationship with death has taught me that I could lose her at any moment. This song is a reminder of how my family felt back then and a way for me to tell myself to keep holding her close. I hope it can be a reminder for others as well."

Originally called Oracle, American metalcore band Drift Away started in 2017 as a lunch on the north side of Portland, Oregon between five friends, years separated after their previous band called it a day. Vocalist Ernell Pearson, guitarist Bryce Kreklow, guitarist Daniel Grigg, bassist Taylor Barrett, and drummer Travis Morlan decided it was too early for them to give up on the full-length’s worth of music they had written before. The band quickly set to work on rewriting. Soon after, Grigg left the band and the group continued on as a quartet. The following year saw the band release their debut single 'Haunted' as a BVTV exclusive, quickly garnering over 15,000 views and 5,000+ listeners in a matter of a few days.

As the four-piece came closer to playing live shows, the global COVID-19 pandemic quickly became much more than just a news headline and suddenly, the band had to change trajectory. Their second single 'Never Really Here' was released in September 2021 through BVTV and soon after, bassist Barrett parted ways with the band. The following year saw the band release a cover of Linkin Park’s 'Papercut' as the remaining members completed production on their first album and quickly after, bassist Jesus “Jag” Galeana was added to the line-up.

2023 came around the corner, and the newly reformed quartet have since played two nearly sold-out shows and are now setting to release their next single 'Where The Air Stands Still' off of their debut EP Chapter 1: Misery.

Swedish extreme metal quintet The Hate Project announce new EP; stream title track

Sweden’s The Hate Project have today announced their new EP, Blessed With Malevolence, to be released 7th July via Seek & Strike.

The extreme metal powerhouse have also released their vicious, new track, 'Blessed With Malevolence', perfectly showcasing their dynamic songwriting style. This song goes straight for the jugular with it’s uncompromising aggression and unrivalled heaviness; you can watch it here: https://youtu.be/FGDMkDT-_bM

Stream here: https://orcd.co/thpblessed

The Hate Project state: "Our new song, 'Blessed with Malevolence,' is a straight-forward, aggressive song with a lot of things happening. However, it all melts together perfectly and makes for a great title track. The song depicts the darkest parts of humanity and just a dark part of our minds at the time when the EP was created.

"Lyrically, I (Anton - Vocalist) needed to be in the right state of mind to bring this track to life. I already knew beforehand what message I wanted to present, which was the dark sides of mankind. The parts we rarely talk about, because it either scares us or we simply don't understand it, as everyone has a different reality. I have seen misery and channeled it into this track.

"This EP was made with a lot more cooperation between the two guitarists than the previous one, enabling a broader and different feel/sound than before. We have also developed our sound further, while still maintaining our core sound. This time with a more polished, yet aggressive mix.

"We think that our sound is easy to recognize with our dark and ambient feel, mixed with brutal breakdowns and heavy riffs. Combining all the good ingredients of death-core in our own unique way."

A truly brooding release, Blessed With Malevolence depicts the darkest parts of humanity, detailing various bandmembers' battles with addiction. Listen out, for example, to the title-track: on the surface a straightforwardly aggressive song, but dig a little deeper you hear plenty of satisfyingly disparate elements.

A true development of the Swede's sounds, Blessed With Malevolence presents a more polished and aggressive mix. Make no mistake, this is all the best ingredients of deathcore punching through hard.

Walls rise from the ashes with new EP Endeavour of Adaptation

Metallic hardcore outfit Walls have unveiled their new EP Endeavour of Adaptation. To mark the release, the Antwerp-based group have shared a striking music video for new single 'Visions', directed by James K. Barbosa.

Watch 'Visions': https://youtu.be/A1onvc6D9sk

Stream Endeavour of Adaptationhttps://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/walls3/endeavor-of-adaptation

'Visions' follows the crushing 'Bad Tongues' and 'Quicksand', both released earlier this year. Endeavour of Adaptation celebrates the band's return from a six-year hiatus.

The band comment: "'Visions' is about overcoming our deepest fears, about pushing through with everything you've got even though the path you need to walk is unknown or frightening. We don't control the things that will happen to us, we're exposed to what the universe expects and has written out for us. Eventually, we all come to an end. But we all need to hold on to our own courage to keep fighting for what we believe in and how we want to live our life."

On their reformation, drummer Michiel Baert adds: "While we were very proud of the music we made with Walls and the release of our first EP Cult Of The Weary, it was time for an indefinite hiatus. Almost four years later, myself and some other guys wanted to play some heavy music again, and bit by bit, members of the old Walls came together again. So we decided to pick up were we left off and give our band a new meaning.

"Unfortunately, a pandemic crossed the world and we were stuck for a couple of more years. Progress was slow, the pandemic kept going and we were dying to get back on stage and show the world what we were working on. It was a frustrating time for us, as I'm sure it was for all other bands as well.
Walls luckily got through it, we stayed strong, encouraged each other and we are glad we did.

"Our new music still has the same old
Walls vibe that we and fans are familiar with: heavy chaotic hardcore. But now, with some influences from newer hardcore and metalcore bands that are touring the world right now, Walls has become something new. Something that fits right in! While Walls has had the pleasure of welcoming a new vocalist with this new EP, we are sure that it will still sound as Walls, just the way we want it. So, here we are. After six years, we are back with our second EP Endeavour Of Adaptation and we can't wait to get on stage and show the world what Walls is capable of."

Rising from the ashes with the help of members from Primal Truth, Fatal Move and Titans, Walls re-emerge as a band who describe themselves as “in restless pursuit of hope and meaning”, utilising everything from gnashing riffs and driving grooves to soaring melodies, in order to not only re-establish their former fan base, but expand it exponentially as well.

In a time where in all aspects of one’s life it is overwhelmingly easy to be negative, Walls strive to spark positivity and light with their eclectic combination of metal, hardcore, post-punk and nu-metal. While their studio recordings capture their precise approach to songwriting and genre-based alchemy, their deep-seated drive to play for the masses and spread their music to any ear within striking distance bleeds through into every aspect of the band’s existence. With a strong release plan already in place for their sophomore EP Endeavour Of Adaptation - and a second EP in the works to follow post-haste - Walls are as dedicated to their following as they are to creating inspiring and uplifting yet chaotic, noisy and primal music. Before 2023 is done, the world will not only have experienced Walls in their fullest, but they will understand what a unifying and powerful entity this band can truly be.
