Alt-rock outfit The Fever Kings release single 'Ain't Gonna Say A Word'

The Fever Kings' debut single 'Drown', released 7th April, served as an introduction for this brand new band to the UK alternative rock scene. The track has most notably received support from Primordial RadioTotal Rock RadioThe Moshville Times and Distorted Sound so far. Second single 'Resist' followed on 12th May, and was further supported by some of the aforementioned outlets.

On 'Ain't Gonna Say A Word', the band comment: "This song is about the dreams you have as a child, and how we are often directed away from that path to instead get a "normal" job and contribute towards society in the standard way.

"We are all individual and people should be allowed to express themselves, but we are often discouraged from doing things, such as following the arts.

"The song is about being rebellious towards anything that is trying to steer you away from doing what you love, so that you're able to follow your passion and really make your dreams come true - or at least do a damn good job at trying!"

Hailing from the North East of England, alternative rock four-piece The Fever Kings were born out of the brutal COVID lockdowns, and the burning desire that JackChrisAlex and Thomas felt to get back to music after long months of social hibernation. Since January 2022, the band have been writing music to serve the soul, carrying influences from Foo FightersBiffy ClyroJimmy Eat World and Lifehouse through their tasteful sense of melody, and their incredibly dynamic energy.

With just a handful of shows under their belt, the quartet have seen a phenomenal response to their music. After selling out their debut live performance, The Fever Kings have truly created a buzz around the North East. 2023 will see the band releasing their first singles and touring the UK in support.

Stream/purchase 'Get That Done' here: https://arisingempire.com/anygivenday

Guitarist/producer Andy Posdziech comments:

"'Get That Done' is more than a song - it's our anthem, echoing our unity, determination, and hunger for greatness. From our very first show, it has been our battle cry, propelling us forward on every stage and journey. It reminds us that we have the power to overcome any obstacle, to leave our mark upon the world, and to ignite the fire within others. Together, we are an unstoppable force! So, let the world hear our anthem and join us as we rise to GET THAT DONE."

Formed in 2012, Any Given Day ignited interest with their 2014 debut My Longest Way Home (Official German Album Charts: #28). They continued to prove they were more than just an internet phenomenon with 2016’s Everlasting (Official German Album Charts: #14). The band went on to share stages of every size with the likes of CalibanBury TomorrowTrivium, and Suicide Silence, receiving euphoric reactions and rapidly growing their fanbase.

On their 2019 full-length Overpower (Official German Album Charts: #19), Any Given Day perfected their unique blend of unruly brutality, compelling melodies and unbelievable catchiness. Surrounded by the great musicianship of his fellow band mates, one-of-a-kind vocalist Dennis Diehl handles both growls and clean vocals, putting many others to shame with his distinct, epic vocal lines. The album is packed with pummelling, in-your-face modern metal and epic arcs of suspense, all wrapped up in an uplifting message.

Swedish metallers Shining return with self-titled 11th studio album

Reigning as one of the most controversial and musically brilliant bands in extreme metal, iconic Swedish metal band Shining has always matchlessly mastered the tightrope act between the edges of genius and madness. Loved and feared alike since breaking into the scene in the late 90s, mainman Niklas Kvarforth is now ready to release his most recent masterpiece of depressive bleakness and never ending misery that reflects his musical genius and eccentric nature with every tune. The self-titled eleventh studio album and Napalm Records debut will be released on 15 September 2023.

Check out the single 'Allt För Döden’ here: https://youtu.be/FeENVJJcX3w

Pre-order Shining here: https://napalmrecords.com/shining

The new offering proves Shining as even darker and more brutal than before – a downward journey in stereo that will drown the world in a mesmerising, inescapable darkness. Kvarforth roots his main musical influences in black metal, but does not stick to a single genre alone. Shining incomparably combines influences from various far-reaching genres such as classical music, jazz and progressive rock, conjuring grim moods, aching wounds and deep emptiness.

Along with unveiling the new studio album comes the torturing, intense first single, 'Allt För Döden'. The song turns Kvarforth’s inner demons, pain and desperation inside out once more, while delivering a stylistic variety that showcases how Shining never fails in surprising their devotees. Embodying provocation since the band’s very beginnings, it’s no surprise that 'Allt För Döden' is underlined by an official video full of blood, violence and destruction.

Comments Niklas Kvarforth on the new single: 'Allt För Döden’ is a lengthy homage to death that will possess your soul during the very first spin!”

The sinister, lurking album opener 'Avsändare Okänd' counts as one of the most vicious and brutal songs in the band’s history. Next track 'Snart Är Dem Alla Borta' starts with a hauntingly mellow intro before progressing into aggression. The first single and homage to Death, 'Allt För Döden', is a well-designed nightmare cut from the pitch-black horrors of Shining, and according to the band, is drenched in an instantly recognisable sound that has been perfected over the last three decades, and that has become their trademark today. Fourth track 'Fidelis Ad Mortem' showcases progressive rock influences that are present on several tracks featured on Shining. Instrumental piano piece 'Åttahundratjugocalms the atmosphere down, before closing track 'Den Permanenta Sömnen Kallar' shakes the listener by instantly kicking off in black metal style from its first seconds.

Niklas Kvarforth on the new album:
“This is our self-titled, eleventh studio album, and it is drenched in an instantly recognisable sound which has been perfected over the last three decades, and that, today, has become the trademark of the band."

Shining is a hauntingly captivating and skilful album that features a unique metal sound in true Shining manner, serving the very best of black metal creatively combined with several other influences. The band has sparked a fiery interest with all of their previous offerings, and it is certain that their ruthless upcoming album will exceed all expectations.

Niklas Kvarforth – Vocals
Charles Hedger – Guitar
Nicolas Barker – Drums
Peter Huss – Guitar
Alex Friberg – Bass

Nov 02: Norwich Voodoo Daddys

Tickets are on sale at 9am BST on Friday 16th June, available here: https://www.wearesaintagnes.com/

Vocalist / multi-instrumentalist Kitty A. Austen comments:

"This record was created whilst I was in a deeply emotional and chaotic place. The devastating lows and the euphoric highs, the rage, the grief, the sadness: it’s all in there. The songs were made to be shared, made to be screamed together, and we can’t wait to do that with you on this tour. We’re bringing the most intense, most personal, rage-fuelled and joy-filled show of our lives. And it’s going to kick the f*ck off. See you at the front."

Saint Agnes recently released a video for their new single 'Outsider', the third taste of their upcoming album Bloodsuckers. 'Outsider' was premiered on BBC Radio 1's Introducing Rock last month, with Alyx Holcombe stating: "a band that I think just sounds like the future of rock music ... I'm so excited about them."

Check out the video for 'Outsider' here: https://youtu.be/CQJYbxm_ANs

Stream the single and pre-order Bloodsuckers here: https://SntAgnes.lnk.to/BLOODSUCKERSPR

Saint Agnes are also making big waves in the gaming world, with the release of Dead Island 2 in April. The game, which features the Saint Agnes song 'And They All Fall Down', has sold over two million copies.

Hailing from the UK, Saint Agnes are all about honest lyrics, intense vocal performances, plus rage-fuelled music intended to give a voice to those closer to the fringe than the centre.

As much gang as band, Saint Agnes seek to empower those who’ve been battered and bruised yet refuse to lie down, and it’s a thread that runs deep within Bloodsuckers – SA’s first album for Spinefarm, the follow-up to 2019’s Welcome To Silvertown, issued on the band’s own label.

In addition to … SilvertownSaint Agnes have released a number of singles, videos and EPs, embarked on headline tours in both the UK and Europe, and appeared at a host of festivals, including Download, 2000trees, Isle of Wight and Kendal Calling.

One thing’s for sure, it’s got nothing to do with rule-books or playing it safe…

From the title track (also lead single / video) onwards, Bloodsuckers is a genre-jumping body of work, taking in elements of metal, punk, industrial and grunge, without being bound by any specific style; the 11 tracks here come straight from the source, largely self-produced and mixed (NIN collaborator Sean Beavan lends his mixing and production skills to ‘Follow You’), and this self-contained approach provides an extra emotional weight throughout, with doom trap provocateur and Kerrang! cover artist Mimi Barks further fuelling the chaos on the short, sharp shock that is ‘Body Bag’.

Created in the months following the unexpected and untimely death of Kitty’s mother, Bloodsuckers explores a number of themes, including mental illness, pent-up rage, undying love and, of course, grief; from the trash-metal howl into the night that is ‘Bloodsuckers’ right through to broken ballad, ‘This Is Not The End’, a poignant reflection of Kitty’s still-raw emotions, this is a call to outsiders everywhere…

Concludes Kitty: “Creating this album gave me a reason to get to my feet at a time when I really wasn’t sure if I could. I’ve tried to put everything I’ve been feeling into it, all the pain, the rage, the grief, even the unexpected moments of beauty and belief. I hope it makes you feel less alone. I hope it makes you feel bigger, badder and stronger. We might be damaged but that doesn’t mean we’re worthless. This is a record for the defeated, the crushed. We might be broken but that doesn’t mean we’re not whole. Bloodsuckers forever, Saint Agnes forever.”

Groundbreaking Indonesian trio Voice Of Baceprot announce debut album Retas, release new single

Groundbreaking Indonesian trio Voice Of Baceprot have announced their seismic debut album, Retas, to be released 13th July via 12WIRED

Coinciding with the news, the band have also revealed their anti-war anthem, 'What's the Holy (Nobel) Today?'.

Stream here: https://li.sten.to/whats-the-holy-nobel-today

Voice Of Baceprot (VOB)'s music is a powerful reflection of the issues close to their hearts. The Indonesian rock trio do not shy away from tackling the difficult topics that weigh on their minds, whether based on personal experiences or events they have experienced, witnessed, or read about. Their music speaks volumes about the world we live in and the struggles we all face.

The band’s latest single, 'What's the Holy (Nobel) Today?', was born from the deep concerns that vocalist/guitarist Marsya, bassist Widi, and drummer Sitti harbour regarding the numerous wars ravaging the world, capturing headlines and tearing apart the lives of countless innocent people.

“In 2017, we started to engage in deeper and more serious discussions with [VOB’s counselling teacher] Abah Erza as he touched upon more significant issues,” Marsya reminisces.

"One of the most gut-wrenching topics that drained us emotionally was the horrors of war. Abah pointed out that the biggest casualties from such wars were always civilians, mostly women and children," Marsya continues.

"You can read what the single is really about between the lines. We want to express our experience of being trapped in a ‘war’, which involves us being bullied on social media. Some would attack us with such intense fury through negative comments, even though we have never shown aggression towards anyone,” Sitti adds.

'What’s the Holy (Nobel) Today?' is mixed by Tue Madsen (MeshuggahSuicide Silence, etc) and mastered by Howie Weinberg (NirvanaSmashing Pumpkins, etc).

There are few groups as powerful and potent as Indonesian rock trio Voice of Baceprot (pronounced ‘bah-che-prot’, often abbreviated as VOB).

Forming in Garut, West Java, in 2014 while still at school, the band – Marsya (vocals/guitar), Widi (bass) and Sitti (drums) named their band after the Sundanese word for ‘noisy’: a true representation of their style of music.

The band are already celebrated across the globe for their indomitable attitude and power of representation.

One of the most exciting musical voices from Southeast Asia, VOB began to turn heads with early viral covers of Rage Against The MachineRed Hot Chili PeppersSlipknot, and Metallica, garnering attention from local and international media, as well as endorsements and praise from Tom Morello and Flea.

Besides their obvious prodigious musical talent, it was also the unique and contradictory combination of heavy rock and their wearing of the hijab that have caught the eye of many.

The group have overcome many obstacles in their still-young career, not least facing opposition from conservative Muslims in their home country, and stereotyping elsewhere due to their hijab-wearing on stage.

In the words of Marsya: "Wearing a hijab should not be a barrier to the group's pursuit of its dream of being heavy metal stars... I think gender equality should be supported because I feel I am still exploring my creativity, while at the same time, not diminishing my obligations as a Muslim woman".

Themes of empowerment, defiance, and celebration run throughout Voice Of Baceprot's work, themes heard throughout the debut album Retas

The anthemic single 'PMS', short for perempuan merdeka seutuhnya ("completely independent women"), celebrates women who are breaking stereotypes and boundaries in all forms.

The origin of 'PMS' is from VOB’s own background, when the band members still lived in their village in rural Indonesia. A conservative community, there are few career options for women after school - by choosing a career in music, Voice Of Baceprot have been marked by some as an anomaly or rebel in their community. 'PMS' is then a solidarity call for all women who face the same problems but march on regardless, to keep doing what they love.

This fearless and fearsome approach has already cemented VOB’s position as a hugely exciting prospect – and noticed by key media players globally, including The New York TimesThe GuardianNMEMetal HammerKerrang!, and many more across USA, Europe, and beyond.

In summer 2022 VOB performed at Wacken Open Air 2022 to over 5,000 fans, have recently announced their debut US tour, and have collectively garnered close to ten million views and streams of their music across all platforms.

Sugar Horse are riding high following the release of their storied collaborative EP Waterloo Teeth, which features members of HeriotConjurerIDLESBiffy Clyro, and many more.

A lot of people take the name Sugar Horse to be a drug reference - perhaps fitting for a band that sound like the last moments of a three-day binge. Darting wildly between dark/light, pain/bliss, sacred/profane, Sugar Horse are unpredictable and unrestrained.

Formed in what is now considered to be the utopian dreamscape of 2015, the band grew slowly at first. Far from fully formed, but steadily gaining limbs, heads and vital organs. Finally, 2019’s DRUJ followed swiftly by 2020’s DRUGS saw them hit on a relentless stride of eclectic releases that simultaneously confused and entranced audiences.

2021 saw the band encamp in a former Lutheran church to record their debut album, The Live Long After, releasing it via Brighton’s own Small Pond Records. Publications such as The Quietus describing the record as “shift[ing] dispositions fluidly, taking elements of extreme aggression alongside floaty Post-Metal” and Echoes & Dust calling it “a monumental achievement”. The album took every disparate element that Sugar Horse previously employed and amplified them, while juxtaposing each next to each other, with genuinely unpredictable and exciting consequences.

2022 saw no relent from the band’s fast pace release schedule, as they put out an anthemic shoegaze single in 'Pictures Of Dogs Having Sex', followed swiftly by the Waterloo Teeth EP. A release that paired Sugar Horse’s terrifying eclecticism with guest appearances from twelve other artists in just four short(ish) songs. Each artist coming from a different area of the modern British music scene, whether that be world conquering post-punk bass lines from IDLES’ Adam Devonshire, heavy titans Conjurer and Pupil Slicer’s throat crippling wails, or a shredding guitar solo from Biffy Clyro/Oceansize axe wielder Mike Vennart. The EP packs in an album’s worth of genre mutilating twists and turns into just 25 minutes of music.
