Vocalist Tom Weaver comments:

"'Puncture Wounds to Heaven' centres around the themes of apathy and the guilt that can arise as a result. The “coming up for air” sensation as you briefly snap out of a depressive episode, and survey how life has progressed around you. This is a core theme that carries throughout the new record, and musically the dichotomy between the smooth verses and the chaotic middle 8 really demonstrated that in a visceral way for us."

The new single is the first glimpse of the band's third album, in the words of Tom"vocally (and musically) the most ambitious we've ever been, but still feels quintessentially Casey."

The new single follows a joyous return for the quintet in 2023, including seven huge shows in the UK and Germany, and the limited release of their 7'' Atone/Great Grief (Hassle Records). Casey will also shortly be supporting Funeral For A Friend with Dashboard Confessional at London's Roundhouse, 15th October.

Casey, at its core, was grounded in the notion that music is a labour of love. Without expectation of success, without desire to attain stardom, just a shared yearning to create music - and when this no longer rang true Casey stayed true to themselves, and stepped away.

In late 2018, when Casey announced they were bringing the band to a close, it felt like a premature demise. Their first two LPs - 2016 Love Is Not Enough and 2018’s Where I Go When I Am Sleeping – had firmly established the Welsh five-piece as one of the most exciting bands in Britain’s alternative scene.

Now, years later, the band have returned - bigger and better than ever before. Casey don't just replicate the feelings that inspire them - they embody them.

Swiss psych trio Dirty Sound Magnet share new single 'Lonely Bird' with stop-motion music video & announce UK tour

Shimmering psychedelic rock trio Dirty Sound Magnet have shared their new single 'Lonely Bird', the third from their upcoming fourth LP, Dreaming In Dystopia (20th October, Wild Thing Records).

Watch the stop-motion video for 'Lonely Bird' here: https://youtu.be/lAnUBCgYiqY

In the words of the band, everything in the music video "is handmade and done 100% DIY over the course of three months." Although demanding a painstaking production process, from crocheting the puppets, scenery, and props, to actually animating each and every frame, the result is an utterly spellbinding visual treat that keeps the track’s fantastical symbolism faithfully intact.

As Dirty Sound Magnet, longtime friends and band members Stavros Dzodzos (guitar, vocals), Marco Mottolini (bass, backing vocals), and Maxime Cosandey (drums, backing vocals) have developed a reputation as one of Europe’s hardest working bands, releasing four records (one live and three studio albums) and performing over 650 mesmerising live shows throughout Europe, UK, and Mexico since their inception in 2016.

The band have recently announced new UK dates, as following:

Nov 01: Hull, The Adelphi

Nov 02: Edinburgh, Bannermans

Nov 03: Glasgow, Audio

Nov 04: Blackpool, Bootleg Social

Nov 05: Newcastle, Anarchy Brew

Nov 08: Nottingham, Ye Olde Salutation Inn

Nov 09: Birmingham, Asylum2

Nov 10: London, The Water Rats

Nov 11: Bristol, Mr Wolfs

Nov 12: Swindon, The Victoria

Even with the onset of a global pandemic, Dirty Sound Magnet remained steadfast on maintaining their reputation of tireless artistic output, going as far as to work on two records simultaneously. One of those was 2022’s DSM III, which the band cites as a means to “release their wild energy during lockdown”. The other album is what eventually became the upcoming Dreaming In Dystopia, with each of its tracks connected by a common thread of being showcases of Dirty Sound Magnet’s most deeply emotional and personal examples of songcraft and lyrics to date. The band worked closely in the rehearsal room and started producing this next, more expansive album right after the completion of DSM-III. One of the first songs recorded during this approximately two-year process was this latest single, 'Lonely Bird', whose concoction of psychedelic, folk, and progressive rock textures would eventually provide the thematic and stylistic blueprint for the album as a whole.

“All of our previous albums have tender moments but the band is known for its high energy and explosiveness,” says Stavros Dzodzos. “We always loved rock bands that were able to produce albums where the focus was on the songwriting and the emotion rather than on the energy. Think albums like Rubber Soul, Stand Up, Led Zeppelin III, or Strange Days. These are the types of records that were always close to not only my heart but for the rest of the band’s as well.”

Through and through, 'Lonely Bird' plays the part of a proper prog ballad, framing the breakup narrative at its core around the symbolism of two birds parting ways and changing of the seasons. This instillation of metaphor imparts the track with greater thematic nuance, with its nature-related analogy allowing for Dirty Sound Magnet to explore this subject matter across a whole spectrum of emotions, depicted in the dreamy twang of reverb-washed guitars, swells of proggy keys accentuating the track’s most harmonious moments and Dzodzos’ yearnful vocals that serve as the emotional anchor of 'Lonely Bird'.

Dzodzos explains: “I think that a rock band needs some maturity to explore more intimate feelings and atmospheres, but you also need some maturity as a human being to be able to express feelings authentically. With the three of us having been performing, writing, and recording music together for as long as we have, being able to convey these elements on Dreaming In Dystopia as a whole came very naturally to us, with 'Lonely Bird' being a key milestone in the creative process. From then on out, we knew we were working on the album we have always dreamed of making.”

TesseracT crash land with cinematic new single 'Legion'

Ahead of the worldwide release of their career-defining new album War Of Being (Friday 15th September, Kscope), UK prog-metal luminaries TesseracT have unveiled their stunning new single 'Legion'.

Watch the magnificent cinematic experience here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHZXTmPnMso

Pre-order the album here: https://tesseractkscope.lnk.to/warofbeing

‘Legion’ is proof that despite being able to create songs larger than life, TesseracT ensure that the human element of a genre so often devoid of emotion remains strong. Musically it showcases the versatility and ability of Daniel Tompkins’ effortless range and power.

Regarding the track, Daniel Tompkins had the following to say: "Conceptually, 'Legion' sets the scene by introducing "Fear" and its various cunning forms." Says Tompkins"Fear binds and restricts us from unlocking truth and obscures the paths that lay ahead in a deliberate attempt to skew our vision.  From the perspective of our two main characters (Ex and El), 'Legion' sees Fear tearing the fabric of their lives apart, as they experience their world crumble whilst dealing with the chaos and confusion surrounding them. The music video focuses on Ex's experience of the same chaos, taking hold of the spaceship The Dream as it crashes on 'The Strangeland' - the introduction to the story of the War Of Being."

The video, directed by Richard Oakes (Dark Fable Media) depicts the opening scene for the concept behind the War Of Being, written by Amos WilliamsEx (played by Dan Tompkins) gives an intense and emotional performance as things start to go wrong aboard The Dream, before crashing on ‘The Strangeland’.

TesseracT marked their return with their statement of intent that was the 11 minute ‘War Of Being’, a world tour announcement and the unveiling of the world’s first ever VR concept album experience in ‘The Grey’ bringing fans directly into the world of ‘The Strangeland’. Now, the band now plot their course for the heart on the emotive ‘Legion’ as we hurtle towards the release of their magnificent fifth album.

Fans can download and play the War Of Being game here:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2475790/War_Of_Being

War Of Being was recorded at Middle Farm Studios in the United Kingdom with Peter Miles (Architects/Sylosis/Dodie) co-producing with the band alongside Katherine Marsh of Choir Noir (Bring Me The Horizon / Architects / b). Assisting with additional programming and production, the band were joined by Randy Slaugh (Periphery, Architects, Devin Townsend). With additional engineering by Forrester Savell (Karnivool). The artwork, which features characters ‘Ex’ and ‘El’ was created in collaboration between AI and human as a means to extend the concept into its presentation.

Alongside the brand new album the band will be embarking on a worldwide tour that will begin in 2023 running through to 2024, performing shows throughout the US, EU, UK, Asia and Australia with support from Intervals, Unprocessed, Alluvial and The Callous Daoboys.

END share video for the title track from upcoming new album The Sin of Human Frailty

END - guitarist Will Putney, vocalist Brendan Murphy, guitarist Gregory Thomas, bassist Jay Pepito, and drummer Matt Guglielmo - will release their second album The Sin of Human Frailty on 27th October via Closed Casket Activities

Today the band share the album's title track. Watch it here: https://youtu.be/KGM20HyljEA

Pre-order The Sin of Human Frailty here: https://closedcasketactivities.com/collections/end

"As one of the first songs written for this record, 'The Sin of Human Frailty' acts as natural progression from the last LP," the band state. "It's very grounded in the elements that compose END's identity. The new album takes a much more varied path than previous releases, but it felt right to maintain core songs like this to keep us connected to the influences we were born from."

Check out the video to previous single 'Gaping Wounds of Earth' here: https://youtu.be/cDGbUFs_vpI

Formed in 2017, END's From the Unforgiving Arms of God EP spawned the fan-favourite 'Necessary Death,' and led to them signing with label Closed Casket Activities. Highlighted by 'Covet Not' and 'Absence', the band bulldosed the senses with their 2020 full-length debut, Splinters From an Ever-Changing FaceBrooklyn Vegan hailed 'Pariah' as "an absolutely filthy dose of modern metalcore," and Kerrang! went as far as to describe their debut LP as "catharsis fed through a distortion pedal and shaped into a dense, destructive wrecking ball." Perhaps, Invisible Oranges put it best: "These gentlemen have come together to summon a fury seldom heard on any album from the realms of hardcore, grind, and black metal…"

In 2023, the members congregated once again to write and record what would become this sophomore release.

"Part of the goal was to do things our way," states Putney. "We didn't want to lean on our influences too heavily, whether it's in terms of production, guitar tone, arrangement, or other elements. We were like, 'Let's just make a record that sounds like END.' I feel like there's more of an identity to the band than there has ever been on this record."

The final result is a unique blend of HM2-driven grind and metallic hardcore crossover with moments of industrial chaos over ten tracks. Featuring guest vocal appearances by J.R. Hayes (Pig Destroyer), Debbie Gough (Heriot), and Dylan Walker (Full of Hell), this Graphic Nature Audio recording clocks in over 30 minutes of unhinged aggression and grind. Produced and engineered by Will Putney and featuring the art of Alex Eckman-Lawn, this release pushes the complexity of END both sonically and visually. Vinyl comes packaged in a ten panel die-cut jacket, pressed on deluxe coloured vinyl and with a digital download code.

END will embark on a U.S. tour with Full of Hell in the autumn.

Firmly established as an innovative force in in the progressive music world, and lauded for their unique approach that transcends genre barriers, ‘Thrash’ is one of the most extreme tracks Unprocessed have created. Beautifully melodic, intensely brutal, technically jaw-dropping and packed with hooks - it’s truly mesmerising and unlike anything else.

The band comment: “‘Thrash’ is the ultimate composite of everything Unprocessed has ever created, ranging from the styles of our tracks ‘Covenant’ to ‘Gold’, while adding brand new never explored elements to our style. This new direction could be described as “Futuristic Thrash Metal” and will hopefully create a moment for modern guitar playing and the innovation of new playing styles. With vocal hooks reminiscent of bands like Linkin Park, ‘Thrash’ lyrically deals with the odd effects of a fever dream and its twist on reality of the person experiencing it.”

‘Thrash’ is the first single taken from the upcoming album, ... and everything in between is, a bold and complex record pushing the boundaries of technical musicianship, song construction, sonic production and more. Inspired by the emotions conjured from life experiences, Unprocessed have channelled their raw visceral power through their musical talent to create this special record. Never before could one have considered a band being likened to artists as extreme as The Dillinger Escape PlanPolyphia and Bring Be The Horizon, yet Unprocessed have done it. This is “Futuristic Thrash Metal”.

On ... and everything in between,  the band are: “Taking all influences and combining them into an ultimate evolution of everything Unprocessed has ever been, while still adding a new flavour and style to the mix. Epic riffs with intricate licks and mind-bending rhythms, brutal breakdowns, epic guitar solos and big and catchy choruses.

...and everything in between can quite literally be described as everything in between the extremes of life. Dealing with anger, sorrow, nostalgia, love and fear the album reflects on the different shades of a personality that everyone is made out of (e.g. there is evil in everyone). “

Be ready for a whole host of surprises on ...and everything in between, including a special guest appearance from recent tour mates Tim Henson and Scott LePage of Polyphia.

Having toured the world numerous times, sharing stages with the likes of PolyphiaSpiritbox and many more, Unprocessed have established themselves as one of the most exciting live acts today. This album will take Unprocessed on their first consecutive cycle of headline tours through Europe and the USA. Unprocessed have also been announced as support to TesseracT on their upcoming EU & UK Tour in Jan/Feb 2024 with Callous Daoboys opening.

Australian breakthrough heavy act Future Static announce debut album and stream single / video

One of Australia’s most talked about breakthrough heavy acts, Melbourne quintet Future Static are thrilled to unveil their highly anticipated full-length debut album, Liminality, out 24th November 2023 via Wild Thing Records. Alongside Liminality, the band have revealed the emotionally charged, hard hitting anthem 'Roach Queen', and its accompanying eye-catching music video, taken from the forthcoming record.

Watch the video to 'Roach Queen' here: https://youtu.be/E98IOdcnB-Y

Pre-order and pre-save Liminality here: https://ffm.to/futurestaticliminality

To coincide, the group’s first ever international jaunt to Europe and the UK kicks off this weekend, including dates with The Omnific (AU), plus appearances at legendary German festivals Reeperbahn and Euroblast. Following taking the Australian live circuit by storm, and the recent supercharged metal reimagining of ‘Gasolina’, the release of Liminality marks the next step in the band’s hugely promising career.

Singer Amariah Cook proclaims: “We’re so proud to finally release our first full-length album, which we’ve been tirelessly working on and teasing to crowds for the past two years. Everything about this album came from the heart and soul of the band. The best way to describe it? It is the physical representation of friendship, teamwork, and our unconditional love for music”. The album was produced, mixed, and mastered by Christopher Vernon (WindwakerThe Beautiful Monument). Artwork was helmed by guitarist Jack Smith, with Liminality portraying the space between materialising and deteriorating in serene nothingness."

New single 'Roach Queen' weaves together bouncing, pitch-shifted riffs, pummelling breakdowns, reverb-drenched ambiance, and an anthemic, catharsis-imbued chorus into a tapestry of grotesque brilliance. At the centre of it all is Amariah’s versatile performance that spans ominous spoken word, guttural roars, tortured shrieks, and soaring sung hooks. The impact of Amariah’s contributions here is elevated further considering the fact that the track derives its meaning and lyrics from a repressed episode in the vocalist’s youth.

“'Roach Queen' talks about a traumatic experience I had as a child in the first apartment my family and I lived in when we moved to Barcelona”Amariah recalls. “The place was infested by cockroaches, and for a long while, I was having nightmares where they would climb into my mouth while I slept, possibly causing a more severe illness to materialise at the time.”

The 'Roach Queen' music video, filmed and directed by the master Colin Jeffs (Make Them Suffer, Alpha Wolf), is heavily attached to the story Amariah portrays lyrically. However, Amariah wanted to add how that experience (and any of the darker experiences she may have lived in her past) is what has made her so powerful and independent now, hence choosing a ‘Queen’ as her character.

“The name 'Roach Queen' felt fitting to me”, explains Amariah. “It came instantly, along with the lyrics, as the song has overtones of a developed independence and strength that eventuated from this experience.” Amariah continues, “Colin absolutely nailed the execution, utilising horror aesthetics and the authoritative figure of the ‘Queen’ as a representation of overcoming personal demons and trauma.”

An innate fusion of metalcore, progressive metal, alternative rock, and pop sensibilities, Liminality is exemplified by its profound singles; visceral cut 'Roach Queen', the effervescent 'Plated Gold' - featuring guest vocals from Sean Harmanis of Make Them Suffer, and acclaimed earlier singles 'Waves' and 'Venenosa'. Liminality also highlights the group’s breathtaking lead vocal tandem, with bassist Kira Neil showcasing her vocal talents and magical chemistry alongside the electrifying Melbourne born, Barcelona raised front-woman Amariah Cook; underlined on the progressive labyrinth 'The Hourglass' and alt-pop-core sensation 'Chemical Lobotomy'.

Liminality represents residing in a state of limbo and emptiness, a fitting title for an album written during the extreme Melbourne lockdowns; depicting the band’s emotional state of the time. The band was no stranger to the effects of limbo, be that a writing process in pandemic-induced isolation, or the two-year-long gauntlet of in-demand domestic touring that followed, including major festivals and supporting acts such as prog metal superstars Jinjer (UA) and Eurovision alumni Voyager (AU), prior to releasing a full album. The record evolved into their most collaborative work to date, with all members’ unique musical voices present in a cohesive, yet diverse artistic statement. Using the incessant layers of soaring lead guitars, crunching riffs and dynamic cleans, trailed over by unique and stacked vocal melodies that Future Static are renowned for, the record ebbs and flows through a combination of different genre inspirations and themes.

German hard rockers Wucan sign with Long Branch Records; UK tour in October

Up-and-coming German hard rock band Wucan have announced their signing with German label Long Branch Records (SPV).

The Dresden quartet recently entered the German album charts for the first time in their career with their last album Heretic Tongue, followed by impressive performances at numerous European festivals.

The band will head to the UK for the first time next month, with shows in London, Glasgow, and Newcastle.

Dates as follows:

Oct 07: London, The Black Heart (tickets)
Oct 08: Glasgow, Audio (tickets)
Oct 09: Newcastle, Trillians Rock Bar (tickets)

Long Branch Records label manager Manuel Schönfeld comments: "With Wucan we expand our artist roster with a highly motivated and promising group that knows how to win you over, especially live. Wucan innovatively merge the most diverse rock genres and combine a legendary sound with today's time."

Wucan manager Karl Walterbach adds: "With Long Branch Records SPVWucan has now found a label partner that is perfectly positioned internationally. This allows us to make optimal use of the global networks of our booking agent MAD Tourbooking/Berlin. The first result will be a small UK tour in October 2023. We are looking forward to the upcoming cooperation."

Wucan break up ossified genre conventions. They develop something new with creativity on the basis of a rock tradition that has its origins in the late 1960s - and yet the band deliver something far beyond an Anglo-American musical heritage, leaning into the rock history of East Germany. Who after all remembers East German hard rockers like BabylonBerluc or Blitzz? It is these names that Wucan pay homage to, and with bandleader Francis Tobolsky, deliver one of the best new spirits in the German rock scene.
