US punks Filth Is Eternal have released their powerful new single 'Cherish', ahead of their sublime new album Find Out (29th September, MNRK Heavy).

'Cherish' implores listeners to believe in themselves and their creativity. Frontperson Lis Di Angelo tells: “I wanted to mash two of my favourite things together, Black Box Theater and Lynchian Style, and marry that with something I overheard a stranger say that has occupied space in the back of my mind for years: ‘This is all a dream, and you will spend the entirety of your existence at the centre of a push-pull event, somewhere between owning this dream and this dream owning you.’”

The key to the new Filth is Eternal sound is the deep-rooted attention to songwriting. Exploding with fresh ideas, heavy on hooks, and clandestine melody, Find Out is a clear breakout release for FIE, not to mention a future staple for heavy music fans worldwide. Using the talents of producer Paul Fig (Slipknot, AFI, Alice In Chains) while recording at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 and Dave’s Room, Find Out adds just enough spit polish in production to conjure the masses but still retains the dirt and grime necessary to remain congruous to the sound and fury within. 

At the core of Filth is Eternal is the instrumental trio of Brian McClelland (guitar), Rahsaan Davis (bass), and Emily Salisbury (drums), who lean into bone-crushing death metal and crust riffage, precision-machined grind, and nitro-fuelled punk to create the nihilistic and galloping armoured vehicle that is FIE. When hard-pressed about specific bands and styles, the band avoids individual names in favour of movements, yet it’s clear that the darker, more complex side of hardcore is probably the most direct influence. Names ranging from Converge to Cursed may be the most prevalent while others such as Trap Them, Alice in Chains, Stockholm-style death metal, and even The Distillers come to mind for additional inspiration, melody, and tactical songwriting purposes. 

Vocalist / lyricist Lis Di Angelo’s approach is rooted in grunge and extreme music; their visceral delivery sits comfortably on the fulcrum between raspy hardcore vocals and cogent melodicism, allowing a range of emotional depth and dynamics. In the worlds the band currently occupies, the dichotomy is refreshing and oddly original, adding a subtle melodic twist to the nihilistic footstomp.

On Find Out, each track is its own pipe bomb ready to ignite on the unsuspecting public, creating a sense of urgency and relating the band’s explosive message to an unabating soundtrack of punk-inflected ferocity. German slamming death metallers Necrotted have released atheir new single 'Artificial Truth'. The track is taken from their crushing fifth album Imperium, out now via Reaper Entertainment.

The band comment on 'Artificial Truth': "The lyrics of the song deal with diseases of our modern information society such as 'alternative facts', and how quite a few people can be controlled and influenced by such lies."

New album Imperium marks another milestone in the band’s history. Another concept album, the LP develops the elaborate storyline of its predecessor with great detail. Necrotted continue to tread experimental musical paths; their proven recipe of melodic guitar riffs, thundering blast beats and oppressive slams is combined with immersing black metal elements. Written mostly in English, the lyrics also contain passages in the German native language, which are performed with banefully deep growls and strident screams. 

The band add: "We're extremely happy to announce that in September 2023 - just in time for our 15th band anniversary - our fifth studio album will see the light of day. The new long-player will bear the name 'Imperium' and will be released via our label Reaper Entertainment. Already today, we'd like to present you the cover artwork and the tracklist of the upcoming album. Fast, brutal, slamming, with a distinct message in their music: Necrotted from southern Germany are a bearer of hope for modern death metal. 

Founded in 2008, the band from Abtsgmünd (Baden-Wuerttemberg) boast four full-length albums Anchors Apart (2012), Utopia 2.0 (2014), Worldwide Warfare (2017) and Operation: Mental Castration (2021), as well as two EPs Kingdom Of Hades (2010) and Die For Something Worthwhile (2019). The quintet have also earned a reputation as a ferocious live act, with extensive international touring alongside I Declare War, Hackneyed, Cytotoxin, Acranius, Osiah, Parasite Inc, and supported many big names including Hatebreed, Kataklysm, Heaven Shall Burn, Dying Fetus and Obituary.

Guitarist Tyler Fritzel comments: "'Tenshi' is quite a different sound sonically than what we have ever explored in previous releases. It started out with myself sending Jennings a chord progression which he basically took, didn't use, and instead wrote something entirely different haha. I love that he did that because it developed into a whole new sound that I wasn’t expecting at all. As it develops more and gets through the intro it really takes a shape of its own that sounds reminiscent of some of the Animals as Leaders stuff around the Joy of Motion days."

Myth of I are an instrumental progressive metal band based out of Boston, MA, USA. They strive to bring innovation to the progressive music world. Admitting to a wide range of influences, the band aim to give a unique cosmic twist to the ordered chaos they consistently produce. Think Tosin Abasi, Joe Hisaishi and a cat walk into a particle accelerator. You may want to call the resulting aural mayhem "angry jazz" or even "technical support metal".

Instead, it's a story of a young professional woman dealing with the very real horrible society norms, unjust working environments and the emotional toll of it all. I chose 'We’re All Fallen,’ as the first single mainly because it's more approachable to a wider audience.

"Since our debut album release in 2021, we have been really busy touring in the UK and EU and, alongside our busiest touring year in 2022, we had written and demoed more than fifty songs. We spent a long time selecting and arranging our songs and feel that they are not just our best to date, but also the ones that show our development as a band. We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved. BED OF NAILS is based around the theme of love. The good, the bad and everything in between that emotion. We had an amazing time in the studio recording it with Romesh. He has helped us to create the exact sound we were aiming for and we believe that we have achieved exactly what we had imagined the album to be. 

"'LOOK UP' is a proper driving track. It’s feel good central. The song is about loving someone but being aware of the consequences of doing so. The lyrics are metaphorical and could be interpreted in different ways, like looking forward to the future or being optimistic. The track has a more classical rock feel, a finger picked guitar riff, a driving bassline and huge drums!"

Florence Black have performed at some of Europe’s biggest festivals this summer, including Hellfest, Resurrection and Sweden Rock Festival. The band will conclude 2023 with an appearance at Planet Rockstock.

Aiko comments on the new single: 

"'Pedestal' was the first song where I allowed myself to truly express the emotions of anger and it was the song to kickstart the rock direction of the album. We worked on the song together with Brighton-based producer Steven Ansell, with whom we have been working for a long time. The song is built on distorted, rockier guitars and drums, combined with a shouty vocal.
 
"The song talks about negative emotions and situations that a person experiences towards the end of a relationship - when a person keeps apologising to you, but nothing changes, you just keep hearing a lot of empty words. At some point, everything falls into place and you realise that it's time to put yourself first and make yourself the priority. It's a process and it can take a while before one learns to be nice to themselves."

Aiko and her band will embark on a tour in support of the new album, with additional dates added. Get ready to witness her electrifying performances as she brings the energy of Fortune's child to life on stage.

That everything will be good. Some people might be born lucky, some might create the luckiness for themselves. Nevertheless, ever since I was a child, I believed that I’m very fortunate!”
