Irish thrash metal legends Gama Bomb reveal new single/video 'Rusted Gold'

Irish thrash metal legends Gama Bomb have today shared their new single and music video, the rollicking 'Rusted Gold'.

'Rusted Gold' is the second track to be taken from Gama Bomb's forthcoming eighth album BATS, due for release on 10th November (Prosthetic). 'Rusted Gold's accompanying music video directed by Kiran Acharya, features the band playing live at a series of festival appearances including Hellfest, Pitfest and Japanese Assault Fest.

Pre-order BATS here: https://lnk.to/GamaBomb

Of the new single, Gama Bomb vocalist Philly Byrne comments: "'Rusted Gold' is a Thin Lizzy-style metal epic - it’s a western too, which I think Philip Lynott would approve of.

"I’m fascinated by the role of Irish people in the American frontier times: their story is sometimes overlooked, or reduced to a caricature. So this song is about an Irish cowboy, a refugee from the famine, who’s out for revenge on all the people who treated him as a second-class citizen. When you see how Irish people and culture were treated during the Brexit referendum, I think this is still a relevant story."

From the tombs of Egypt to the faded glamour of old Hollywood, Philly, Domo, John, Joe and James (Vader and Decapitated) lead us through new sonic landscapes and all manner of novel adventures on BATSBATS is an album that could only be borne from Gama Bomb; they have embraced their inner absurdities, they’ve taken a trust fall into each other's arms, relying on the idiosyncratic glue that has bound them together over the last 21 years to propel them forwards. BATS is the first Gama Bomb album to be entirely produced, mixed and mastered by guitarist Domo Dixon; utilising the remote recording skills picked up during various lockdowns over the past few years, recording for BATS was approached with a deliberately self-sufficient attitude.

Whilst the lyrical content veers into various different directions, the album is tied together with a 1960s-inspired aesthetic as demonstrated via the BATS artwork - serving as a visual tribute to the iconic design trends and pop culture of the 60s. The art was created by the legendary Graham Humphreys, the artist behind iconic posters for A Nightmare on Elm StreetEvil Dead and What We Do In The Shadows, now in his fourth collaboration with Gama Bomb.

John Roche (guitars) comments: “The accompanying artwork and inlay by the lovely Rory McGuigan are based on 1960s exploitation movies in the vein of Russ Meyer and other directors who didn't want to put their name on their films.” Longtime GAMA BOMB fan and accomplished painter, Kirsty Clark, takes the starring role on the album artwork - welcoming you into the entirely fictional BATS cinematic universe.

Sonically, Gama Bomb manage to stay true to their distinctive thrash sound, honed to perfection over two decades at the frontline of headbanging and fist-pumping. There are nods to heavy metal titans such as Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, there’s even a sliver of Bad Brains-esque punk attitude, and more familiar influences such as Tankard and Sodom are still evident. But if you think Gama Bomb are serving up something run of the mill then you’ve clearly not accounted for the guest appearance by Irish musician Gavin Kerins or a star-turn from hip hop pioneer The Egyptian Lover who raps on - naturally - 'Egyptron'.

In the newest offering from the alternative rockers, listeners are taken on a poignant journey through the highs and lows of chasing after one’s dreams. The new single magnificently intertwines melodic grace with profound lyrics that lay bare the soul.

'Carried Away' eloquently expresses the dichotomy of time – a force that both propels dreams forward and serves as a reminder of the hurdles that yet lay ahead. Each note, each lyric, invites listeners into a world where passion meets obstacle, and dreams are both a source of inspiration and a wellspring of tumultuous emotions. In the haunting refrains of 'Carried Away', blacktoothed provide not just a melody, but an empathetic voice to the silent struggles that echo in the hearts of dreamers worldwide.

Guitarist Mathilde comments: "Ladies and gentlemen, whilst listening to our latest release, let yourself get carried away by the highest note ever to come out of the vocal chords of a male person at Sawdust Recordings, according to our dear producer Christoph Wieczorek. Damn, Henni was hitting that G on the last chorus note like a pro!”

Produced by Annisokay guitarist Cristoph Wieczorek and Julian Breucker at Sawdust Recordings studio, Blacktoothed's latest album JULI saw them hone their true musical style.

Australian quintet Future Static share prog-tinged new single 'The Hourglass'

Melbourne five-piece Future Static share ‘The Hourglass’, the next single taken from their highly-anticipated debut album, Liminality, out 24th November, 2023 via Wild Thing Records.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/4a6KwesDcZg

Pre-order / pre-save Liminality here: https://ffm.to/futurestaticliminality

From a bird’s eye view, ‘The Hourglass’ is a grand showcase of the layers of prog influence that are imbued in the core of Future Static’s DNA. Opening with thunderous drum fills before transitioning into a double whammy of chugging down-tuned guitars and visceral screams, the track proceeds to weave incredible riffs, an impactful chorus, and an airy, emotional ambiance into one powerful package. Originally titled ‘Ruin//Reclaim’, ‘The Hourglass’ gradually shifts from being marked by “destructive” energy before embracing a lighter sound after the bridge, with the remainder of the track’s lyrical flow attaching itself to the harmonious instrumental.

Vocalist Amariah Cook commented: "I decided to lean on the metaphor: ‘digging yourself into a hole’ for this song. I wanted to describe what it feels like when you say something situationally agitating or hurtful and, instead of just letting it pass, you try to fix it with more unnecessary and misinterpreted words. Jack's working title, 'RUIN/RECLAIM', adheres well to the energy of the music, and I really wanted to flow together vocally with that concept. The verses, mostly written by myself, talk about this in a generalised manner, compiling various situations caused by this cyclical behaviour. Kira masterfully wrote the chorus lyrics and melody, where she describes a particular situation where that ‘verbal vomiting’ was induced.”

The single’s music video, directed by the returning Colin Jeffs, leans into the “digging yourself into a hole” metaphor with its storyline and visuals, depicting the turn of phrase in the context of digging one's own grave. Spliced between footage of the story’s characters (depicted by Future Static’s Amariah Cook (lead vocals) and Kira Neil (bass/backing vocals), are shots of the titular hourglass, looming ominously as the sand within persistently pours downward.

The unveiling of this latest track follows the conclusion of the band’s first-ever international tour, supporting instrumental prog virtuosos and fellow label-mates and Aussies, The Omnific, across Europe and the UK.

An innate fusion of metalcore, progressive metal, alternative rock, and pop sensibilities, Liminality is exemplified by its profound singles; visceral cut 'Roach Queen', the effervescent 'Plated Gold' - featuring guest vocals from Sean Harmanis of Make Them Suffer, and acclaimed earlier singles 'Waves' and 'Venenosa'. Liminality also highlights the group’s breathtaking lead vocal tandem, with bassist Kira Neil showcasing her vocal talents and magical chemistry alongside the electrifying Melbourne born, Barcelona raised front-woman Amariah Cook; underlined on the progressive labyrinth 'The Hourglass' and alt-pop-core sensation 'Chemical Lobotomy'.

Liminality represents residing in a state of limbo and emptiness, a fitting title for an album written during the extreme Melbourne lockdowns; depicting the band’s emotional state of the time. The band was no stranger to the effects of limbo, be that a writing process in pandemic-induced isolation, or the two-year-long gauntlet of in-demand domestic touring that followed, including major festivals and supporting acts such as prog metal superstars Jinjer (UA) and Eurovision alumni Voyager (AU), prior to releasing a full album. The record evolved into their most collaborative work to date, with all members’ unique musical voices present in a cohesive, yet diverse artistic statement. Using the incessant layers of soaring lead guitars, crunching riffs and dynamic cleans, trailed over by unique and stacked vocal melodies that Future Static are renowned for, the record ebbs and flows through a combination of different genre inspirations and themes.

Scott Stapp announces new album & releases lyric video for new single 'What I Deserve'

Grammy winning, platinum-certified artist Scott Stapp has announced his fourth solo album Higher Power, due for release on 15th March 2024 via Napalm Records. A ten-track triumph, Higher Power turns Stapp's experiences on the razor’s edge into an acknowledgement of grace. The upcoming record will be released ahead of the iconic frontman's return to the stage with Creed for the first time in ten years.

When hard-hitting single 'Higher Power' debuted in August, Loudwire stated that Stapp is “primed for a big decade, sounding just as powerful as he did at half his age with a sense of newfound heaviness resting beneath his iconic voice.” Now, mid-tempo anthem 'What I Deserve' (out today) addresses the inherent duality within relationships and smoulders with the blistering yet delicate guitar work of multi-award winning guitar great, Yiannis Papadopoulos.

Check out the lyric video for 'What I Deserve' here: https://youtu.be/vq7Y0ICM8EQ

Pre-order Higher Power here: https://lnk.to/SCOTTSTAPP-HigherPower/napalmrecords

Stapp says: “We all want back what we give.‘What I Deserve’ is about two people understanding who they are individually and coming to a place where they can express exactly what they each want, need, and deserve. The duality in the song is that both sides are expressing the same thing and coming to an understanding of the faults of the other. This song pleads both guilty and innocent with Yiannis’ guitar solo being the voice that articulates a chaotic search for deliverance and the epic release of passionate closure.”

Higher Power follows 2019’s The Space Between the Shadows, which debuted at #3 on the US Current Rock Albums chart, the US Current Hard Music Albums chart, and the UK Official Rock and Metal Chart, among countless other top chart positions.

On an album that traverses themes of loss, frustration, betrayal and near defeat, Higher Power features stand-out performances by hard rock queen Dorothy on a deeply raw duet and, throughout the album, Papadopoulos’ guitar leads and solos are such invaluable contributions that he is credited as a featured artist on three tracks. There is also a co-writing appearance by multi-Grammy Award winning songwriter and musician Steve McEwan on Higher Power, which was produced by Marti Frederiksen and Scott Stevens, with co-production by Stapp

Stapp explains: Higher Power was born out of never ending consequences with triggered, yet naïve defiance. It's the realities and realizations of being human in this experiment we call life - holding onto hope in the dark waiting for the light.”

Throughout the early 2000s, Creed broke airplay records, sold out arenas, earned countless Billboard Music Awards and American Music Awards, and a Grammy for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group. As a solo artist, Stapp has released the Platinum-certified The Great Divide (2005), Proof of Life (2013) which featured his first solo #1, “Slow Suicide,” and 2019’s The Space Between The Shadows. Texan death-thrashers I AM release arcade-inspired video for 'Infernal Panther'

Texan brutal death thrashers I AM today unleash a delightfully retro, eight-bit arcade game inspired video for 'Infernal Panther.' The track is taken from the band's latest album Eternal Steel, released last year via MNRK Heavy. The video, edited by Hunter Lenoir and featuring art by Kevin Stevens and Anita Karas, includes a cameo appearance by Cannibal Corpse’s George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher at the 2:51 mark.

 Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/ciA67am6BrI

The band comment: "'Infernal Panther' is one of our favorite songs off the record, so we’re stoked to bring some life to it with a fun video. Now we get to rip this song live for y’all this month. See y’all out there, freaks."

Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Randy Leboeuf (Kublai Khan, Sentinels, The Acacia Strain)Eternal Steel, the quintet’s debut for MNRK Heavy, combines the onslaught of the band’s well-received Hard 2 Kill (2018) with the primal bite of Life Through Torment (2017) into a singular statement of intent.

Purchase Eternal Steel on CD, cassette and vinyl here: http://iam-eternalsteel.com/

I AM have earned a reputation for devastation in the live environment, converting doubters and curious onlookers alike into diehard believers with sweat and determination. And across the two most recent records, they established themselves as a band who never writes the same song twice.

“You won’t mistake one track for another,” Reyes assures. “Not in a way that sounds scattered or disorganized. It’s just that we have a range within our sound. We exercise free rein creatively.”

The death n’ roll groove of Obituary, the street-smart violence of Cro-Mags, it all coalesces into something fresh, exciting, and distinctly I AM. Hearkening to the past of classic metal with a hard shove forward into the future, these guys transcend genre limitations with a sound built to last.

Enterprise Earth announce new album and unveil first single featuring Ben Duerr of Shadow Of Intent

Enterprise Earth have made their triumphant return with the announcement of their forthcoming new album, Death: An Anthology, stacked with features from some of deathcore's finest including but not limited to, Matt Heafy (Trivium), Darius Tehrani (Spite), and Wes Hauch (Alluvial). The upcoming full-length will be released on 2nd February via MNRK Heavy.

In celebration of the news, the band has unleashed their apocalyptic new single 'King of Ruination' featuring Ben Duerr from Shadow of Intent along with the hauntingly brutal official music video directed by Nick Chance.

The band commented: "'King of Ruination' ushers in the new era of Enterprise Earth, a violent and punishing force of groove-centric metal. This is merely a glimpse of what we have in store for you all on Death: An Anthology, thank you for listening."

Vocalist Travis Worland also commented: "Coming from a heinously religious upbringing and background, death has been at the forefront of my mind since childhood. Going to Hell, going to Heaven, going nowhere at all, being stuck between two polar opposite eternities. So, I wrote about it. From all manner of perspectives. The death of self, the death of someone or something important to you, the death of a relationship, the death of individuality, fantastical stories of what awaits us when we die. Death takes many forms and can be spoken of in so many different lights. This is my story of death and dying. This is Death: An Anthology."

Death: An Anthology will also be available in "Black Ice" and "Inferno" vinyl formats exclusive to the band (available here), as well as "Ghostly" and "Copper Nugget" vinyl formats through the MNRK Heavy Shop at the link here.
