An epic achievement, Truth... is, in signature Sugar Horse style, one single long song: a meditation and exploration of everything the note A has to offer.

Sugar Horse comment on the new single:  "This section kind of feels like stepping into the eye of a particularly lengthy storm. It’s a short reprieve where we break everything down before climbing back up that staircase again. Lyrically it describes the catharsis of art. You can take in any pain, hurt and bullshit from day to day like, then use it to generate something positive and beautiful. There’s something I find unbelievably beautiful in that kind of genesis. It’s probably the closest I come to any kind of religious thought. You take hell and turn it into heaven."

Telling the story of Truth Or Consequences, New Mexico, the band state: "It’s frequently been difficult for us, as a band, to limit ourselves to “normal” pop song lengths and structures….as evidenced in pretty much all of our releases to date. From time to time we feel the need to loose the ropes that bind us and let our Long & Tedious flag fly freely. Truth Or Consequences, New Mexico is the result of said untethering.

"We’ve always found the idea of exploring a single note over long stretches of time interesting and this song is that idea taken to an extreme logical conclusion. It’s an exploration of the note A in all its possible variations."

Sugar Horse have recently toured with post-rock luminaries 65daysofstatic across Europe, as well as dates with Pianos Become The Teeth, Liturgy, Chat Pile and an appearance at ArcTanGent festival.

A lot of people take the name Sugar Horse to be a drug reference - perhaps fitting for a band that sound like the last moments of a three-day binge. Darting wildly between dark/light, pain/bliss, sacred/profane, Sugar Horse are unpredictable and unrestrained.

Formed in what is now considered to be the utopian dreamscape of 2015, the band grew slowly at first. Far from fully formed, but steadily gaining limbs, heads and vital organs. Finally, 2019’s DRUJ followed swiftly by 2020’s DRUGS saw them hit on a relentless stride of eclectic releases that simultaneously confused and entranced audiences.

2021 saw the band encamp in a former Lutheran church to record their debut album, The Live Long After, releasing it via Brighton’s own Small Pond Records. Publications such as The Quietus describing the record as “shift[ing] dispositions fluidly, taking elements of extreme aggression alongside floaty Post-Metal” and Echoes & Dust calling it “a monumental achievement”. The album took every disparate element that Sugar Horse previously employed and amplified them, while juxtaposing each next to each other, with genuinely unpredictable and exciting consequences.

2022 saw no relent from the band’s fast paced release schedule, as they put out an anthemic shoegaze single in 'Pictures Of Dogs Having Sex', followed swiftly by their collaborative Waterloo Teeth EP. A release that paired Sugar Horse’s terrifying eclecticism with guest appearances from twelve other artists in just four short(ish) songs. Each artist coming from a different area of the modern British music scene, whether that be world conquering post-punk bass lines from IDLES’ Adam Devonshire, heavy titans Conjurer and Pupil Slicer’s throat crippling wails, or a shredding guitar solo from Biffy Clyro/Oceansize axe wielder Mike Vennart. The EP packs in an album’s worth of genre mutilating twists and turns into just 25 minutes of music.

The new song from Lord Of The Lost’s upcoming first full covers album Weapons Of Mass Seduction, out 29th December 2023, features a guest appearance from rising singer-songwriter Anica Russo, who also took part in Germany’s Eurovision Song Contest 2023 preliminary round Unser Lied für Liverpool (EN: Our Song for Liverpool) alongside Lord Of The Lost . Representing Germany at the ESC finals in May 2023 brought Lord Of The Lost to the attention of mainstream media across Europe (with features from BILD, The Sun, BBC among others), exposing their artistic universe to much wider audiences, and was one of the main highlights of the band’s most successful year to date - together with the late 2022 release Blood & Glitter, which charted at #1 (Official German Album Charts). 

Vocalist Chris Harms on '(I Just) Died In Your Arms': "When we heard Anica's great voice for the first time in the run-up to the German Eurovision preliminary round, we immediately wanted to do a duet with her. Anica was our clear favorite and we are very happy about it, and we are very happy to have realized this wish in our ESC year!"

Moscow born, Czech Republic raised and Brighton-based artist Aiko (pronounced eye-ko) has launched her bid to represent Czech Republic in the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest with her single 'Pedestal'.

'Pedestal'  is taken from her second album Fortune's child released earlier this year to huge acclaim. Scottish post-punk quartet Tijuana Bibles have released a video for their new single 'Slip Into The Leather'. The track is taken from their long-awaited debut album Free Milk, due for release on 8th December via Button Up Records.

In the band's own words, the narrative of the video is "Boris Johnson: Cheese and Wine Party for One."

"‘Slip into the Leather’ is about consumerism, selling sex, keeping up with the Jones’s. Kicking against all of that! "They tell you to pray to keep you on your knees…" alludes to religious and political systems being used to create hierarchy, to maintain control for the powers that be. However, more and more these people are being exposed for the crooks they really are. And we’re here for the downfall with jelly and ice cream!"

Tijuana Bibles' debut album Free Milk arrives in a disjointed nation, a backdrop of war, protest, strikes and political confusion. That sense of purpose, anger and energy permeates every word and note.

Modern Britain, in the current political climate, stands at the abyss and this album is the soundtrack to it. Free Milk resonates with searing guitars and post-punk angst, a primal commentary in a dystopian society. It is the perfect album for now. It has all the ingredients; disquiet, defiance and a haunting visceral energy.

“This album is a love letter to the power of community and a celebration of resistance,” says vocalist Tony Costello. No one is going to argue with him.

The songs are volatile, snarling, subversive and provocative. As it should be, lyrically there’s cynicism and dismay and in times like these, we need albums like this.

Tijuana Bibles, with Tony Costello on vocals, his brother Danny Costello on bass, James Brannigan on guitar and Mikey Dornan on drums are sonic conjurers. The album's title track burns with the same disdain as ‘Ghost Town’ by The Specials, it’s honed from the same seam as Johnny Rotten and PIL. Opening track ‘Stateless’ is a call to arms, exploding from the same petrol-soaked rag as Idles or Bob Vylan. Free Milk ebbs and flows, it hooks and it punches, like a Buckfast-infused Nick Cave pub-fighting with King Gizzard, as Arctic Monkeys' evil cousins sneer from the corner table. It’s an album of controlled chaos, a sonic riot.

This is suburban desolation blues.

Seattle quartet The Home Team are back with the latest slice of what they like to call "heavy pop" - their new single ‘Loud’, out now via Thriller Records. The track, which is accompanied by a fittingly fun music video, also coincides with the band’s UK tour supporting The Used, alongside label mates Honey Revenge.

"Beyond the obviously sexual subject matter of the song, 'Loud' is about finding your confidence in giving 110% to things that may be outside of your immediate comfort zone," states frontman Brian Butcher.

"Sonically, ‘Loud’ gets into territories that we’ve always wanted to explore as artists, specifically in accessing a lot of groove and style, rather than just excessive energy. We wanted to take a pop approach to a song and rock-ify it, as opposed to the other way around (which we’ve found is a lot more common). 

“We had help from Skyler and Tyler Acord (Issues, Twenty-One Pilots, lophiile) on this song, and they did a fantastic job helping us realise our vision. It’s definitely a bit of a curveball genre-wise for us, which is why we wanted to release it before any other singles from our new album. There will be more familiar sounding songs as well, but we feel like 'Loud' is such a statement for how we want to write music going forward, and we feel so strongly about it, that it would be a shame not to lead with it. Being adventurous with new music can be nerve-wracking considering we don’t know if current fans will embrace it, but we hope that the people see our vision like we do and enjoy bumping the song."

Melding pop-punk and metal influences with stylings of R&B, pop and funk into their heavy-pop sound has rewarded The Home Team with an ever-growing dedicated and passionate fan base. POWERWOLF honour the 75th birthday of the Prince of Darkness himself, Ozzy Osbourne, by releasing a cover of one of the Black Sabbath vocalist’s most famous solo tracks, 'Bark At The Moon'. The title-track of Ozzy’s celebrated 1983 album, Bark At The Moon, is an immortal classic, and the Wolves’ cover of the song is performed in true POWERWOLF style while fully respecting the original version.
