Interlaker (ex-Lonely The Brave, Arcane Roots) reveal new single

Interlaker (featuring David Jakes, ex-Lonely The Brave, and Jack Wrench, ex-Arcane Roots), have unveiled their new single 'Ghostride' via Hassle Records

Listen here: https://ffm.to/interlaker_ghostride

Jack Wrench comments: "I already had the musical bare bones of 'Ghostride' floating around in the back of my mind; even before Dave and I started chatting. I never added any vocal melodies to it, nothing seemed to sit right. I actually remember thinking at the time, "someone like Dave would have something for this", which is pretty amusing in hindsight.

"When
Dave and I first approached the idea of writing together, this was the very first idea I thought of sending his way. I remember receiving the chorus melody from him mere hours later, and it's nearly identical to what you hear on the record. I love that melody so much and the lyrics moved me deeply. With the chorus in the bag, I knew exactly how the rest of the track needed to go. We finished writing that song within a couple of days and it still stands as one of my favourites."

Interlaker will be making their live debut at London's Omeara on 17th December. Purchase tickets from: https://ffm.link/interlaker-omeara

Jakes was the commanding voice behind the Lonely The Brave sound. A master of melody, his lyrical talents enthralled audiences across Europe from supporting Neil Young in Belgium, to arenas with Biffy Clyro, to the main stage at Reading and Leeds festival.

Jakes has always been uncomfortable with being the centre of attention; when playing live he would stand at the back of the stage, side on, barely saying a word to the audience between songs. A total juxtaposition to the anthemic tunes he wrote - songs that felt like they could move mountains.

As Lonely The Brave grew in reputation and audience, so did Jakes' discomfort with attention and adoration. He left the band in March 2018.

Fast forward five years and Jakes is back with Interlaker, a new musical project, with a new musical partner, Jack Wrench of Arcane RootsWrench, a skilled drummer, but also a multi-instrumentalist, became the perfect partner for Jakes

Jakes says: Jack and I got chatting about doing some music over Instagram in the spring of 2022. I'd seen Jack, a couple to times, playing with Arcane Roots, so I knew what an amazing drummer he was. It was when he started to send over fully instrumental pieces that he'd done - drums, guitar, bass and all - that I realised we could be onto a really good thing. It certainly wouldn't be for everyone - putting together music without being in the same room together (me in Cambridge and Jack in Brighton) but it worked out really well for the two of us. Around a year later we had 12 tracks ready to go and began the process of beginning to make a record...”

Available on 15th December will be Interlaker's debut release, their 12'' single complete with the band's first four tracks. A must-have for early die-hard fans of this very new, very special band.

'Shame' resonates deeply with the raw and emotional journey of vocalist Oli Duncanson. Since openly revealing his true identity, the singer has faced a challenging path towards societal acceptance, a struggle that profoundly influences the lyrics of this powerful song.

THECITYISOURS, through this single, have not only created a poignant and emotionally charged song, but made a bold statement about acceptance, identity, and the struggles faced by the LGBTQ+ community. 'Shame' stands as a beacon of hope and resilience, encouraging listeners to embrace their true selves and to fight against societal norms that seek to define and restrict. It’s a powerful reminder that, even in the darkest of times, one can find the strength to push through and that, in the end, being true to oneself is the most important victory of all.

Personal statement from vocalist Oli Duncanson (vocals):

"'Shame' was written about the feeling of not being able to accept your sexuality; an aspect of yourself that can't be changed, and how it makes you feel that you don't belong anywhere. It affects every way in which you navigate through life and won't leave you until you come to terms and embrace it."

THECITYISOURS are a four-piece pop metal band from London who have quickly garnered attention and growing support for peers, industry and fans alike, with their high-octane live show and the success of their second album. Coma (2021) smashed into the Top 5 iTunes Metal Charts with several singles appearing in editorial playlists with the likes of Amazon MusicDeezer and Spotify (including two covers on New Core and Metal UK) supporting the band.

THECITYISOURS have become a upcoming staple on UK and EU festival line-ups, with appearances at Camden RocksMacmillan FestBurn It DownHolloween, a fly in appearance at High 5 Festival in Sweden, and a headline set in the Doghouse Tent at the revered Download Festival to a 4000+ audience of festival-goers. After a sold-out album release show at The Underworld in London, 2022 saw THECITYISOURS break out into the European scene, with a full-length tour across the mainland. Swedish rock trio The Gems (ex-Thundermother) stream emotional fourth single 'Undiscovered Paths'

Emerging Swedish rock band The Gems have unveiled their new single, the emotional 'Undiscovered Paths', taken from their upcoming debut album, Phoenix, out 26th January 2024 via Napalm Records.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/aHHMLaHWUp4

Pre-order Phoenix here: https://lnk.to/THEGEMS-Phoenix/napalmrecords

With their previous band, Thundermother, the members of The Gems stormed the Official German Album Charts (reaching #6 with their last two albums) and commanded international stages - electrifying crowds at renowned rock festivals like WackenSweden Rock, and Alcatraz, while supporting legendary acts such as the Scorpions

Now, the new trio distance themselves from their past. Having proven their exceptional potential straight from the release of their very first standalone single, 'Like A Phoenix', in summer 2023 (#2 German Rock Radio Airplay Charts), The Gems have already been approached by many important festivals and concert agencies for 2024 bookings. With the release of their debut album, The Gems are ready to take over the rock scene.

The Gems comment on 'Undiscovered Paths': "This song differs from the other songs on our album. It's a more vulnerable track, very melancholic, yet hopeful. A deeper knowing that it's all going to be fine, when you feel that you are at a crossroad and everything feels unclear. This is our reminder that there's always a light at the end of the tunnel. This is by far the most modern rock sounding track of our album and we love it!"

Captivating, chanting intro track 'Aurora' allows vocalist Guernica Mancini's distinctive, strong and bluesy vocals shine, and sets the scene before the catchy rock’n’roll anthem 'Queens' roars as a celebration of feminine power. Standing up for oneself, fighting back and rising above are some of the main lyrical themes of Phoenix, which 'Send Me To The Wolves' is an outstanding example of. The song’s storyline champions overcoming and not giving in to oppressors, before 'Domino' takes The Gems’ grooviness to the level of legendary classic rock bands of the 70s. With emotional tracks like 'Undiscovered Paths' and 'Fruits Of My Labor', The Gems bring significant depth and variety to the album, distancing themselves from their history. Stunning interlude 'Maria's Song', featuring violinist Maria Jern, fades into the touching ballad 'Ease Your Pain' - giving extra space to the exceptional guitar work of Mona 'Demona' Lindgren. Following track 'Running' shines as a surefire future hit with more impressive guitar work and Emlee Johansson’s hard hitting drums, before the beautifully stripped down acoustic version of 'Like A Phoenix' - backed with acoustic guitar by producer Johan Randén - wraps up The Gems’ debut album. Phoenix was mastered by Plec Johannsons (Soilwork, Hank von Hell, Firewind) and its artwork was created by ex-Thundermother member Giorgia Carteri (Soilwork, The Nightflight Orchestra).

It is clear that the seasoned musicians of The Gems won’t settle in the shadows of their prior successes. With their fresh, convincing debut offering, The Gems take a stand and leave the past behind. Make no mistake - with PhoenixThe Gems will conquer the international rock scene in a heartbeat.

Phoenix will be available in the following formats:

Shrapnel release new single 'In Gravity' featuring Scott Kennedy (Bleed From Within)

UK thrash metallers Shrapnel have released their blazing new single, 'In Gravity', which features Scott Kennedy (Bleed From Within) via Candlelight Records.

Watch the video for ‘In Gravity’ here: https://youtu.be/Cf6O3Pm2o3k

Stream the single: https://shrapnel.lnk.to/InGravitySingle

Commenting on the new single: "'In Gravity' marks the launch of a new chapter for Shrapnel. We've channelled every bit of suffering, devastation, and emotion that we've experienced in recent years, and created the most hard-hitting and urgent song we've ever written. Never have we been so confident about our own material.

"With Jens Bogren producing and Scott Kennedy from Bleed From Within on guest vocals, it’s been hard to keep our excitement under wraps. They’ve helped us raise the bar higher than ever and made 'In Gravity' a definitive statement that we are only looking forward. We can’t wait for everyone to join us on this next stage of our journey."

Born from a period of pain, tragedy, isolation, yet hope for the future, 'In Gravity' emerges as an uplifting and crushingly precise statement about where Shrapnel are currently, with a taste of what to expect from the band in 2024. A cathartic exercising of demons, this is not a track that dwells on the past or leans on well-worn tropes, but looks excitedly forward.

Drawing on Shrapnel's ever-deepening well of experience and influence, 'In Gravity' marks a band at the height of their songwriting prowess. Whether dealing in extremity and complexity, Gojira-inspired bludgeoning heaviness, or a newly emerging sense of modern melodic maturity, Shrapnel are able to weave their sonic palette in new, genre-defying directions.

Formed in 2009, Shrapnel have been on a campaign of destruction ever since. From the blistering underground E.P No Saviours through to their critically acclaimed 2020 release, Palace For The Insane, the band have grown from strength to strength with no intention of slowing down.

UK black metal standouts The Infernal Sea release new single 'Lord Abhorrent'

UK black metal standouts The Infernal Sea have released their second single, 'Lord Abhorrent', taken from their forthcoming fourth studio album. Hellfenlic will be released on 26th January 2024 via Candlelight Records.

Check out ‘Lord Abhorrent’ here: https://youtu.be/hZSB9UPfLZU
Stream / pre-save Hellfenlic here: https://TheInfernalSea.lnk.to/Hellfenlic

Comments The Infernal Sea on the new single, "'Lord Abhorrent' is the opening track from our forthcoming album Hellfenlic, a brutal opus that hits hard from the offset, setting the macabre tone for what follows on the album. It encapsulates all the key elements of The Infernal Sea's signature sound and rams them down your throat."

The Infernal Sea have been a plague on this Earth since 2011, composing fierce and terrifying black metal from the Fenlands of England, conjuring compelling tales of English & European history throughout the Medieval period.

Over the course of several releases, The Infernal Sea have established themselves as black metal wraiths, identifiable only as shadowy figures exemplified by plague doctor inspired masks and shrouds. New album Hellfenlic, which is an Old English translation meaning 'a Fen of hell', is eight tracks of seethingly raw, black n roll infused rage and follows their three highly-acclaimed studio albums, Negotium Crucis (2020), The Great Mortality (2016) and Call Of The Augur (2012).

Hailing from the East of England, an area of bleak, flat, desolation that echoes throughout their music, much of The Infernal Sea's storytelling draws from this area. New album Hellfenlic, centres around the brutal persecution of men and women by the most infamous Witchfinder General, Matthew Hopkins who was most active throughout the East Anglian area. It tells of his obsession, his religious fervour, his brutality, and ultimately his downfall.

With first single 'Bastard of the East', the band delved deep inside the notion of how incredibly delusional Matthew Hopkins, the Witchfinder General was. Hopkins was a brutal, sadistic murderer, who strongly believed that he was carrying out God’s work and extracted false confessions out of many fearful innocent women, during a time of great paranoia within the Church. Watch the video for 'Bastard of the East' here

Follow-up single, 'Lord Abhorrent', looks at how Matthew Hopkins’ methods of interrogation were unjust and inhumane. Comments the band, "Matthew Hopkins was led to believe that an attempt on the King’s life was to be made by something otherworldly and distinctly evil. The Church was afraid that the Devil himself would ascend from Hell and take control of the throne. Their hope was that the faith of Hopkins, the Church and the common Christian folk would expel this evil presence. Corrupted souls were given the ultimatum of finding peace with God, or an endless suffering in the eternal flames of Hell. Justice was unfair and biased, with the alleged perpetrator condemned without fair trial."

Forthcoming release Hellfenlic was engineered by James Burke at the Noise Cabin with mixing and mastering completed by Tom Dring at The Arch Recording Studio and cover art by Khaos Diktator Design.

The Infernal Sea have continued to elevate their live performances with a terrifying and captivating ritualistic stage show, enthralling audiences wherever they may roam. This has included performances at key UK festivals such as Bloodstock Festival, Incineration Festival, Damnation Festival, A Night of Salvation, Reaper Fest, Cosmic Void as well as a whole host of key support slots to bands such as Anaal Nathrakh, 1349, Taake, Napalm Death, Akercocke, Nargaroth, Primordial, Hellripper, Tsjuder, Mork, Rotting Christ, Hulder, Strigoi, Abigail Williams, Arch Enemy and many more.

The Infernal Sea continue to impress crowds with their visceral headline shows, including a string of recent sold-out performances in 2023.
