Swedish metal veterans EVERGREY have released a new version of their #1 streamed track 'Call Out The Dark'.

The new single is taken from the band’s upcoming anniversary album, From Dark Discoveries to Heartless Portraits, a celebration of 30 years of Gothenburg’s finest export of darkness, due for release this Friday, 15th December, via Napalm Records.

The original version of 'Call Out The Dark' was released on EVERGREY’s highly acclaimed 2022 album, A Heartless Portrait (The Orphean Testament), which entered charts worldwide at #3 in Sweden (Metal), #7 in Finland, #12 in Germany and ranked #5 on the Top New Artist Albums charts in the United States. The new, beautifully stripped-down version of the song comes with a fitting official video.

Jonas Ekdahl states: "I love how Tom and Rikard manage to take these songs and transform them into something unique and different than its original form and sound. If you manage to remove all the production elements within a song and strip everything down to its essence, and still feel that it holds up and sounds good – you know it’s a good song! That’s exactly what they have done with these piano/vocal versions in my opinion. This version of ’Call Out The Dark’ delivers slightly darker vibe and the lyrics stand out and reach you even more than on the original version."

When Clémentine Delauney, Anna Brunner, Marina La Torraca and Amanda Somerville came together to form EXIT EDEN, topped by the release of their first album, Rhapsodies in Black, in summer 2017, it became immediately clear that this combination would be both powerful and magical. Progressive groove metal juggernaut Jinjer and death metal legends Obituary will embark on a massive tour across the UK and Europe in autumn 2024 as special guests for metal icons Sepultura on their Celebrating Life Through Death – European Farewell Tour 2024, together with Jesus Piece. This genius line-up delivers heavy sounds from various genres of metal: old school burners from Sepultura and Obituary to new school bangers from Jinjer and Jesus Piece, all coming together to celebrate the end of an era and making it an unmissable tour.

The award-winning, genre-busting RADAR Festival has announced its first headliner for the 2024 edition.

Held at Manchester's O2 Victoria Warehouse on 26-28th July, RADAR Festival 2024 will see synth royalty The Midnight headline the Friday night. They're joined across the weekend by electrojazz duo Sungazer, RADAR alumni Humanity's Last Breath, death pop phenomenons Blood Command, new UK rock quartet unpeople, and industrial newcomers Tribe Of Ghosts. 

They join, among others, the previously-announced Dirty Loops, Plini, Oxymorrons - all gearing up to make RADAR 2024 a landmark event in England's North West.

RADAR Festival 2023 was a smash success, with Friday headliners Sleep Token joining Periphery (Sunday) and Igorrr (Saturday) among a host of the best from the UK progressive underground and globally. RADAR pride themselves on providing a first home for the best international artists - previous years have seen Dirty Loops' (2022) and The Callous Daoboys' (2023) first UK shows. 
 

RADAR capped their intensely impressive 2022 by winning the Best New Festival Award at the UK Festival Awards on 6th December in Manchester.

They have now been nominated for Best Small Festival and Best Metropolitan Festival at 2023's UK Festival Awards.

With their mixture of international talent and confirmed homegrown success, RADAR Festival has already positioned themselves as a champion of forward-thinking guitar-led progressive music. Interlaker (featuring David Jakes, ex-Lonely The Brave, and Jack Wrench, ex-Arcane Roots), have unveiled their new single 'Ghostride' via Hassle Records.

Jack Wrench comments: "I already had the musical bare bones of 'Ghostride' floating around in the back of my mind; even before Dave and I started chatting. I never added any vocal melodies to it, nothing seemed to sit right. I actually remember thinking at the time, "someone like Dave would have something for this", which is pretty amusing in hindsight.

"When Dave and I first approached the idea of writing together, this was the very first idea I thought of sending his way. I remember receiving the chorus melody from him mere hours later, and it's nearly identical to what you hear on the record. I love that melody so much and the lyrics moved me deeply. With the chorus in the bag, I knew exactly how the rest of the track needed to go. We finished writing that song within a couple of days and it still stands as one of my favourites."

Jakes was the commanding voice behind the Lonely The Brave sound. A master of melody, his lyrical talents enthralled audiences across Europe from supporting Neil Young in Belgium, to arenas with Biffy Clyro, to the main stage at Reading and Leeds festival.

Jakes has always been uncomfortable with being the centre of attention; when playing live he would stand at the back of the stage, side on, barely saying a word to the audience between songs. A total juxtaposition to the anthemic tunes he wrote - songs that felt like they could move mountains.

As Lonely The Brave grew in reputation and audience, so did Jakes' discomfort with attention and adoration. He left the band in March 2018. 

Fast forward five years and Jakes is back with Interlaker, a new musical project, with a new musical partner, Jack Wrench of Arcane Roots. Wrench, a skilled drummer, but also a multi-instrumentalist, became the perfect partner for Jakes. 

Jakes says: “Jack and I got chatting about doing some music over Instagram in the spring of 2022. I'd seen Jack, a couple to times, playing with Arcane Roots, so I knew what an amazing drummer he was. It was when he started to send over fully instrumental pieces that he'd done - drums, guitar, bass and all - that I realised we could be onto a really good thing. It certainly wouldn't be for everyone - putting together music without being in the same room together (me in Cambridge and Jack in Brighton) but it worked out really well for the two of us. Around a year later we had 12 tracks ready to go and began the process of beginning to make a record...”

Available on 15th December will be Interlaker's debut release, their 12'' single complete with the band's first four tracks. A must-have for early die-hard fans of this very new, very special band.
