Bears in Trees are aficionados of life. If there’s one thing the four-piece has become synonymous with, it’s wholesome, warm and humorous serotonin-boosting melodies. ‘Things That Look Like Mistakes’ is quintessential Bears in Trees; it is awash with positivity, and acts as an anecdotal ode to the minute but joyful moments that we often brush aside in our hectic human existence. “It’s easy to fall for cynicism, become burnt out searching for answers that aren’t there, or become overwhelmed by existence,” says vocalist/bassist Iain. “This song is about slowing down, stepping back, and reconnecting with the small moments of joy in your life. dancing in your socks with a glass of wine. Going to concerts. Really listening to nature’s stirring. It may not be a permanent solution to feeling a lack of meaning in life, but remembering to embody those moments of peace is important.”

The upcoming album, How to Build an Ocean: Instructions, is a project doused in personal conflict, but simultaneously a love letter to the normal and how beauty can be found in just being. Charged with references to literature, philosophy and film, as well as first hand experiences, the band explore thoughts of what it means to find purpose when everything feels purposeless, all whilst ultimately instructing themselves to find “small joys in the face of cosmic indifference.” Produced by George Perks (Enter Shikari, The Doves, You Me At Six), How to Build an Ocean: Instructions marks an exciting new development for Bears in Trees, being the first album they’ve recorded with the help of consultants outside of the band themselves, having previously relied on drummer George’s expertise, who outside of the band, works as an engineer at Subfrantic Studios

Tenderness, triumph, and a totally unashamed feeling of enjoying the ride whilst they're on it, How to Build an Ocean: Instructions is their definitive statement. Though no matter how far this record takes them, the most important thing is that they are together and doing what they love. Because when all is said and done, that's the connection that will last a lifetime. "We started the band because we loved hanging out with our friends and wanted to make stupid music together," Iain concludes. "That's always been the reason, and it hasn't changed. All we want to do is make what we do as honest and authentic as possible. That's what it means to be in the Bears in Trees business."

The record started to take its early form as far back as November 2022, when the band were still reeling from the release of their 2021 full-length and everybody else smiled back. That explains why it feels like the most mature and marinated version of Bears in Trees. There was honesty in the songwriting selection process; there’s a different depth than in past offerings. It embraces that Bears in Trees isn't the same as it was at the beginning of their journey, that pressure, debate and dispute are necessary to move forward.

The artwork is a testimonial to the band’s hometown of Croydon, marking places they've existed across their adolescence and into adulthood, such as Lloyd Park, a location reminiscent of turning 18 and being obsessed with Monster Energy, to Floor 13, an abandoned floor in a car park where they used to hang out as kids. "For us, Croydon is all about the history you feel when you're going to work or to the studio every day, and you're getting the same bus you got to school," guitarist Nick ponders. "You're seeing all of these places from your past. We are surrounded by our memories no matter what." They had returned to the town after an extended period on the road, including a support slot in the UK with You Me At Six and a trek across the US. Though appreciative of how their borough had shaped them, it was difficult not to feel like they had taken a step backwards. Watching friends move whilst remaining in the same location they did as teenagers proved challenging to adapt to. From that feeling, came inspiration for the record.

Connoisseurs of the digital age, the band built their reputation themselves from scratch, foregoing the traditional media routes and climbing the social media ropes. They obtained millions of likes on TikTok and engaged with their fanbase proactively on Discord and Patreon, before ever dipping their toes in the music industry support pool. This impressive knowledge of navigating internet culture, paired with their vivacious, comedic charm, and easy listening and bright bops have earned them a passionate and loyal following of  ‘sandboxes’ (the allocated fanbase name), saw them sell out London’s Electric Ballroom and play alongside artists such as Pale Waves, NOAHFINNCE, Waterparks, The Maine and Lovejoy, as well as scoring festival slots at Slam Dunk, 2000trees, Community and many more.

The Home Team release video for addictive new single 'Brag'

Seattle quartet The Home Team are back with the latest slice of what they like to call "heavy pop" - their new single ‘Brag’, out now via Thriller Records, radiates confidence. The track is accompanied by a new music video, that suitably showcases the band's beaming, comedic personalities.

Check out the video for 'Brag' here: https://youtu.be/CkRA2LRdApc

Stream 'Brag' here: https://orcd.co/tht-brag

“Having a newfound sense of confidence in our art, 'Brag' came at a time when we were heavily challenged in the way that we write music, and it’s almost a means of convincing ourselves that we’re still on the right track,” shares vocalist Brian Butcher. “We know that the only way we’ll ever be able to bring our vision to fruition is to have confidence in it, no matter what the obstacle.

“After countless songs written about doubting myself, I decided to finally write one about trusting myself,” continues Butcher. “It has taken way too long to get to this point for me, since every time I ever felt like I wanted to believe in myself, it just felt like I was beginning to be arrogant. That’s the last thing I want to be. So instead, I decided to embrace the idea and write this facetious piece about what it’s like to be in the position that I’m in now with our music. By no means do I think our previous or current works are prolific enough to warrant that level of arrogance, but I did think it’d be fun to pretend! Hopefully the inherent sarcasm translates, since sprinkled throughout the song are little quips related to the ego that I feel like I see musicians carry with them all the time.”

Melding pop-punk and metal influences with stylings of R&B, pop and funk into their heavy-pop sound has rewarded The Home Team with an ever-growing dedicated and passionate fanbase. The four-piece have already shared stages with bands such as Don Broco, The UsedReal Friends and Honey Revenge.

The Home Team have more new music in the works for this year.

German metallers Words Of Farewell reveal new single 'Stories To Forget'

German metallers Words Of Farewell have released their new single / video 'Stories To Forget' via Seek & Strike.

Watch the video for 'Stories To Forget' here: https://youtu.be/f_Qu7nASaeQ

One of their most explosive and gripping tracks yet - the crushing essence of 'Stories To Forget' sets the tone for the band’s new EP which drops 29th March. The song was co-produced with Sebastian Sendon (Bleed From Within, Periphery), taking the band to a new level.

This is modern melodic death metal at its very finest.

Words Of Farewell state: "What sets this EP apart from the last two is the musical bandwidth we’ve managed to put into these five songs. It feels much more versatile and we’re proud that we’ve achieved that within just those few songs. Lyrically, the song tries to encapsulate the feeling of how creative writing can be a therapeutic tool for the mind. Writing down feelings about ailments, but also about other more positive states of mind can be helpful to get a burden off one’s chest.

"Whoever wants to know what modern melodic death metal sounds like – this is us. Six passionate musicians each from very different backgrounds coming together to deliver music from the brain as much as it is from the heart. If you are fed up with bands who say they’re melodic death metal, but lack the melodies or such who say they are death metal, but lack the death metal. Well, we always try to deliver on both fronts.

"In a world where content is mass produced and just thrown out onto the digital marketplace to see what sticks, we still retain our original mission statement of only releasing music that is written from the heart without compromise and to the best of our abilities, resulting in a listening and live experience that we hope delivers quality instead of quantity. We hope that people can feel the love and hard work that goes into our music and the passion that we feel for it which we want to share with everyone."

On an album of metamorphosis forged by loss, frustration, betrayal and near defeat, 'Deadman’s Trigger' warns of mutually assured destruction when pushed to the breaking point, until the melodic chorus arrives like salvation. The charged-up banger strobes with bold sonic swagger as one of the album’s hardest-hitting tracks.

On Higher Power, Stapp is “primed for a big decade, sounding just as powerful as he did at half his age with a sense of newfound heaviness resting beneath his iconic voice” (Loudwire). It features stand-out performances by Dorothy, guitar god Yiannis Papadopoulos, and a co-writing appearance by multi-Grammy winning songwriter and musician Steve McEwan. The album was produced by Marti Frederiksen and Scott Stevens and follows Stapp’s 2019 The Space Between the Shadows, which debuted at #3 on the US Current Rock Albums chart, the US Current Hard Music Albums chart, and the UK Official Rock & Metal Chart.
