This Friday, 9th February, tAKiDA, one of Sweden’s largest and most successful rock bands, will finally reveal their massive ninth studio album, The agony flame (Napalm Records). In anticipation of the upcoming release, the quintet have unveiled their brand-new fourth single, 'On the line'. The track presents fast-paced melody and intense vocals - building a highly-infectious hymn alongside its official music video.

The single arrives on the heels of tAKiDA’s recent announcement of their 2024 Smoke & Mirrors Tour, including an extended run through several major cities in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Supported by Those Damn Crows, the tour kicks off in Germany on 2nd April.

Tickets are on-sale now.

Ever since their start in 1999 and breaking into the scene with their first studio album, Make You Breathe (2006), tAKiDA has become one of Sweden’s largest rock bands, garnering mind-blowing success in their home country with six platinum singles (one of them 4x platinum), three platinum albums and five #1 albums. In 2023, tAKiDA’s recent singles, cut from the upcoming album The agony flame, have exceeded the already extremely well-accomplished band’s previous international radio chart success, with 'The loneliest hour' hitting #1 on German Rock Airplay Charts, and 'Third strike' added to daily rotation at Antyradio - Poland’s biggest and most important rock radio channel. In summer 2023, tAKiDA conquered the mainstage of the legendary Wacken Open Air, performing in front of twenty thousand people. With the release of The agony flame in 2024, tAKiDA will not only celebrate 25 years of band history, but surpass their current success without the shadow of a doubt.

The agony flame embodies the distinctive, unmistakable tAKiDA sound, rich with infectious, huge choruses. On the new album, listeners get to witness some of singer Robert Pettersson’s strongest vocal performances to date.

Over the course of tAKiDA’s fruitful career, the band has regularly topped radio airplay charts, and their star doesn’t show any signs of dimming! The first track released from The agony flame, 'The loneliest hour', became the band’s biggest radio success to date by going straight to #1 on the German Rock Radio Airplay Charts after its release as a standalone single in summer 2023. In trademark tAKiDA manner, songs like 'Your blood awaits you', 'Third strike' and 'On the line' are loaded with emotion and unlimited hit potential.

More than two decades after the band’s formation, tAKiDA’s new offering makes it crystal clear that the unit’s pop-infused rock is still relevant today.

tAKiDA on The agony flame: The agony flame is our “now or never”-album and you’re free to interpret that however you want. Hope you’ll like it.”

Post-metal quartet El Moono stream new single 'The Charm'

Alternative Brightonian quartet El Moono have unveiled their new single 'The Charm', from their forthcoming debut album, The Waking Sun, to be released 10th May via Lockjaw Records

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/3K3boBhsKNI

Stream here: https://elmoono.lnk.to/TheCharm

Pre-orders for The Waking Sun coming soon.

The band comment: "A live snake, a twisted tarot reading and mythological metaphors - 'The Charm' is the most melodic song we’ve released to date. This song was written about domestic abuse within a broken household, referring to the abuser as a hypnotic snake - the dark themes are contrasted by the atmospheric, psychedelic production and as close to pop as our choruses get."

El Moono have announced three warm-up shows with a full UK tour to be announced.

Dates are as follows:

Feb 29: Cardiff The Moon
Mar 01: Nottingham Chameleon
Mar 02: Luton Castle

The long-awaited debut marks an exciting turn for El Moono toward the darker and more abrasive - a more mature release from a band already marked for greatness.

The Waking Sun follows El Moono's highly-regarded 2022 Temple Corrupted EP (released via Lockjaw Records). Previous tours alongside Black PeaksHaggard Cat, St Pierre Snake Invasion, and Press to MECO elevated El Moono within the new British underground, and the EP release garnered notable praise from Metal Hammer, Kerrang! and Guitar World. With influences of rock, hardcore, metal and grunge, the band's off-kilter and oftentimes mind-bending riffs, emotive songs and expressive lyricism combine to create a sound that’s difficult to pigeonhole.

Battlesnake have already set tongues ablaze in the Australian scene - a seven-piece vortex emerging from the depths of the underworld. With a powerful sound that can best be described as the genetically-engineered cyborg super-child of Queen, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, and Judas Priest, the band have quickly gained a reputation for their high-impact live performance and epic, theatrical songwriting.

Battlesnake released their debut EP in 2020, a powerful 6-track release entitled Myths and Legends from Gorbag's Domain. Their first full-length, self-titled, followed in 2023 - exploding them into the wider Australian consciousness. Recently the band have supported titans KISS on their End of The World Tour, The Smashing Pumpkins and Jane’s Addiction on the The World Is a Vampire tour.

Lord Of The Lost release video for 'The Future of a Past Life' feat. Marcus Bischoff of Heaven Shall Burn

Lord Of The Lost have unveiled an official music video for their song, 'The Future of a Past Life' featuring Marcus Bischoff from German metalcore legends Heaven Shall Burn. The video features Bischoff performing alongside Lord Of The Lost and closes the highly successful and eventful Blood & Glitter era with a bang. The contrast between the Heaven Shall Burn singer's growls and LOTL vocalist Chris Harms' clean vocals runs through the song and is impressively staged in the high-quality performance video.

Last weekend, Lord Of The Lost performed on the 70000 Tons of Metal cruise in the US, and this autumn, they will return to the US and Canada for their first tour there in over a decade. Until then, the band will keep busy with a packed summer of festivals including Download Festival (main stage), and their fast-selling “15 Years of Lord of The Lost” European tour, starting in Nuremberg next month.

The release of Blood & Glitter marked the start of the most successful year in the history of Lord Of The Lost to date.

Entering the Official German Album Charts at #1, winning the German ESC preliminary round through live audience voting on national TV, performing in front of 200 million viewers at the big Eurovision Song Contest final in Liverpool, their second tour as special guests of Iron Maiden, big festival shows such as the 'Deadliner' slot on the Wacken main stage and an almost completely sold-out headline tour were just some of the highlights.

Over the course of the year, the band made good on their resolution and released a music video for every single song, some of which could not be more different stylistically - and thus represent a band that has never shied away from crossing and expanding boundaries. With the grand finale and music video with Heaven Shall Burn’s Marcus Bischoff, the Blood & Glitter chapter is closed.

Canadian rockers Royal Tusk release new single 'Hated'

Photo Credit: Kidpixel & Travis Nesbit

Canadian rock trio Royal Tusk have released new single 'Hated', taken from their third full-length album, Altruistic, due 23rd February via MNRK Music Group. They have also released an accompanying documentary, Do No Wrong: The Making of Altruistic.

Stream here: https://royal-tusk.ffm.to/hated

Royal Tusk bottle raw feelings of alienation into a clarion call on 'Hated'. The soaring melody resounds with undeniable honesty underlined by fret-burning lead licks.

“It was written from the point-of-view of someone who is labeled unredeemable,” said frontman, Daniel Carriere. “It doesn’t campaign for this person’s innocence, but it poses a question. If our world can’t believe an individual can change, it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy. Change is a running theme for this body of work. I think people can and do change. It’s the hardest thing, yet it’s possible.”

Pre-order / pre-save Altruistic here: https://royal-tusk.ffm.to/altruistic

Spending nearly a year writing throughout the pandemic, the trio eventually hunkered down in Alberta’s Audio Department recording studio where they self-produced Altruistic. In the midst of the process, Carriere wound up in the throes of a year-long battle to get healthy after suffering from a blood clot in his lung. He lost over 20lbs and could barely speak.

Sandy [bassist] and Quinn [guitarist] helped me through the entire experience,” Carriere said. “These songs were written prior to this life-changing event, but they still tell a story of struggle, suffering, uncertainty, courage, and watching your back. It’s bizarre how that happened. When I think of them now, they definitely illustrate what we all went through.”

With an unwavering determination, the band faced highs and lows that pushed them to the brink, including an almost career-ending illness that threatened to shatter their dreams. Throughout their trials and tribulations of friendships, brotherhood and tenacity prevail. In the documentary, witness the raw emotion, sweat, and imaginative determination as they pour their hearts and souls into creating what is undeniably one of the most powerful rock albums of the decade.

It's a story of passion, triumph over adversity, and the creation of a musical tour de force that will redefine your perception of rock 'n' roll and the human spirit.

Royal Tusk have already released three singles from this record including, 'All My Life', featuring vulnerable verses giving way to a riff-boosted refrain with words of encouragement, then there's 'Head Up', Carriere’s emotionally charged vocal delivery with a head-nodding guitar groove while, 'Relegate' stands out as a different kind of love song. Carriere says, “It’s about slipping away and losing your ground in a relationship like you can’t hold on.”

The Alberta trio consists of Daniel Carriere (vocals), Quinn Cyrankiewicz (guitar), and Sandy MacKinnon (bass). They fuse hypnotic hooks to hard-hitting riffs, offset by untethered rhythms and undeniably honest lyrics.

In 2014, the band buzzed out of Edmonton with the Mountain EP. They evolved across releases such as DealBreaker (2017) and Tusk II (2018) which Billboard proclaimed “The LP steps beyond what fans heard on DealBreaker”. Among many standouts in their catalogue, 'Curse The Weather' generated 10.4 million+ Spotify streams, followed by 'Aftermath' with 6.8 million Spotify streams. Royal Tusk have toured with Pop Evil, Monster Truck, Slash and Big Wreck, and performed on the 2020 ShipRocked Cruise with Beartooth, Halestorm, and Alter Bridge to name a few. One moment they’ll serve up an earthquake barrage of distortion, only to incite a bold stadium-size singalong in the next breath.

Finnish metallers Split Iris sign to Seek & Strike; reveal new single

Finnish modern metal outfit Split Iris have released new single 'Purge', the band's first release through their new label Seek & Strike. The quintet are quickly rising from the underground metal scene with their propulsive blend of djent and modern metal brilliance - look forward to a full-length effort dropping this summer.

Watch 'Purge' here: https://youtu.be/azSI3iHRwjM

Stream 'Purge' here: https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/splitiris/purge

Aleksi (vocals) states: "We're thrilled to finally let our fans know that we've signed a deal with Seek & Strike! We're sure that with their help as our label we'll be able to reach our goals and grow Split Iris to reach its true potential. Seek & Strike was among the very top choices we had in mind when we were looking for a label. Already by looking at their roster and seeing how active and hard working they are with their bands, we realised we'd fit right in. We knew that with their help we'd be able to reach just the right audiences that really appreciate what we have to offer, and that with their support we could grow to our true potential. Therefore, we can't be thankful enough for them trusting us and our art by letting us join their ranks. To say that we're extremely excited is an understatement. We can't wait to see what's to come with Seek & Strike having our backs!

"The song, ‘Purge,' arouses a bittersweet mixture of feelings, such as empowerment, anxiety and an almost childish-like excitement in the face of disaster. The underlying theme is hubris as a trait of the human race and how it blinds us from seeing our limits and our lack of control. Even in the face of total obliteration, there is still trust that everything can be fixed in the snap of a finger and this trust in our omnipotence in fact hinders us from taking action to prevent the disaster to come. The storyteller thus vows to purge the world of all things wrong and correct the course by setting everything right, at the same time knowing in the back of their head that the road ahead is nowhere near as easy or simple as it seems. The problem may in fact even be the storyteller themselves."

Split Iris are a Finnish progressive metalcore band combining elements of djent and many other styles of modern metal, resulting in a freshly unique mixture as their distinctive sound. The ambiences and massive soundscapes in the arrangements bring depth to the dark and driving down-tuned riffs, through which the mesmerising and catchy vocal melodies soar pristinely.

The quintet are based in Rauma, Finland and were formed in 2020. They are releasing their debut album in 2024 and will perform new songs live from the upcoming album. Relevant themes in the band’s music include self-acceptance and psychic resources. The down-tuned riffs and huge soundscapes inspire the listener to experience strong emotions, through which they can find spiritual strength in themselves and their surroundings.

Enterprise Earth release new single / video 'Blood and Teeth'

Enterprise Earth have released their highly-anticipated new album Death: An Anthology (via MNRK Heavy). In celebration of the news, the band shared their intensely brutal yet deeply poignant latest offering 'Blood and Teeth' along with the accompanying music video.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/LLpJhhsrXKc

Buy Death: An Anthology here: https://enterprise-earth.ffm.to/deathananthology

Speaking about 'Blood and Teeth', the band shared:

"'Blood and Teeth' lays out a gut-wrenching story of poisonous attachment, a cycle of self-harm and submission to the tragic realization of how much pain one can put themselves through for the sake of another’s admiration. Musically, this is the most elaborate song on Death: An Anthology.

"Moving through a clean piano intro, to blazing leads over a catchy groove, to death metal riffage, to a catchy metalcore adjacent chorus, to a dare we say sexy bridge, only to unleash the filthiest breakdown of the album at the end. The video is a direct visual representation of this and we hope it evokes an emotional response similar to the ones felt in its production."

When asked about the album, guitarist, backing vocalist, and producer Gabe Mangold commented:

"I consider Death: An Anthology to be our most expressive, intense, diverse, and finest work that Enterprise Earth has ever achieved so far and I hope I can say that with every body of music that we release. This album was SO much fun to create from every facet and while there are many peaks of brutality and valleys of melodic expressiveness, I hope the listener experiences the same emotions while listening that we did while creating: sheer enjoyment, empowerment, unity, catharsis, and so much more. Drown in Abyss, let it take us."

Prior to today, the band have previously released  'King of Ruination' with special guest Ben Duerr from Shadow of Intent and most recently, 'The Reaper's Servant' featuring Darius Tehrani of Spite and 'Casket Of Rust'.

More than anything else, we share death in common. This universal eventuality unites us. In an evolutionary sense, it effectively ensures our equality. No matter who you are, you will die. Enterprise Earth explore death from a different perspective altogether. Rather than turn away from it, the U.S. quartet—Gabe Mangold [guitar, backing vocals, production], Brandon Zackey [drums], Travis Worland [vocals], and Dakota Johnson [bass]—face it head-on with their fifth full-length offering, Death: An Anthology. Against an apocalyptic soundtrack of battering ram double bass drums, gut-punching guitars, and disarmingly dynamic vocals, the group present their most immersive and inimitable vision yet.

“The album is tied together by the overarching concept of death,” Travis states. “It’s easy to think of death as a separation of consciousness from the body, but we’re delving into the death of self, individuality, and relationships—whether romantic or platonic. Dying takes many forms. I grew up extremely religious, so death has always been on my mind. In any religion, the afterlife is the umbrella for all of your beliefs. I tend to think of death from a more philosophical standpoint these days.”

The band have always incited mosh pits and thought in equal measure. Since emerging during 2014, Enterprise Earth have logged two back-to-back debuts in the Top 10 of the Billboard Heatseekers Albums Chart, while Loudwire cited Luciferous among the “50 Best Metal Albums of 2019.” Hysteria Mag heralded 2022’s The Chosen as “a veritable masterclass in experimentation and reinvention that shows a highly skilled band transcending its roots and making steps to become leaders of a field still being created,” while Metal Injection summed it up as “a strong statement.” Plus having toured with the likes of Thy Art Is Murder, Dying Fetus, Chelsea Grin, Fit For An Autopsy, Fallujah, Within Destruction, and more.

With Gabe once again in the producer’s chair, the musicians holed up in a Lake Tahoe cabin for nine days where they penned the bulk of Death: An Anthology. It marked the first time this line-up wrote together (and in-person) as well as with Travis on vocal duties.

“We fed off one another’s energy,” recalls Gabe. “These songs felt cohesive because of that. We all had a hand in the composition.”

In the end, death may be inevitable, but you can rely on Enterprise Earth for a release in the meantime.

“We wanted to make an album that feels like who we are as a collective,” the band agreed. “On the one hand, we hope you have fun listening to it. On the other, just know, ‘Death is real and it comes for us all’. One day, we won’t be here anymore. While we’re alive, we want to enjoy it.”
