To further tease their forthcoming new album, It’s Inside You, due 7th June via Relapse Records, CANDY have unveiled their latest single, 'You Will Never Get Me' featuring Justice Tripp of Angel Du$t and Trapped Under Ice. 'You Will Never Get Me' follows the recently shared single 'Love Like Snow' featuring MIRSY and mmph, which arrived with the cheeky and eerie video directed by CANDY’s Michael Quick, and lead single 'eXistenZ,' which Stereogum described as ”brief but packed with as much chaos as possible” and The FADER stated, “the jewel at the bottom of the 81-second bone cruncher is, essentially, ‘follow your dreams.’”

To celebrate the release of It’s Inside You, CANDY will be performing a record release show at Salty’s Beach Bar in Lake Como, New Jersey on 6th July with Everybody Gets Hurt, Division of Mind, Final Resting Place, Sector, and Last Man Out. It’s Inside You expands upon CANDY’s lauded brand of metal-warping, digitally-coated hardcore across 12 tracks produced by Quick along with Uniform’s Ben Greenberg and mixed by Kurt Ballou at God City Studios (NAILS, High on Fire, The Armed). It’s Inside You is a manifesto of kinship and inner strength. The album serpentines its way through the dark and bright corners of the human psyche. While nihilism and the pains of the modern world still exist on the album, It’s Inside You sees the band turn toward tenderness more than ever before. It’s Inside You creates an energising and empowering atmosphere, in which seeking connections with oneself and with others is central. While constructing the album, CANDY opened up and invited collaborators  — like Aaron Melnick (Integrity), Justice Tripp (Angel Du$t, Trapped Under Ice), David Gagliardi (Trash Talk), MIRSY (Fleshwater’s Marisa Shriar) and mmph (Sae Heum Han) — who all helped enrich and further define the band’s already distinctive energy. 

It's Inside You follows CANDY's sophomore album Heaven Is Here, which arrived in 2022 and was described by The FADER as “hardcore that sounds like a nuclear meltdown” and includes the tracks 'Human Condition Above Human Opinion,' 'Transcend To Wet' and 'World of Shit.' In 2018, CANDY released their debut album Good To Feel, which includes the standout tracks 'Good To Feel' and 'Lust For Destruction.' In 2019, the band released the standalone singles 'Super-Stare' and 'Win Free Love' and acted as the distinct bridge between Good To Feel and Heaven Is Here.

Formed in 2018, Black Lakes successfully crowdfunded the production and release of their 2022 critically acclaimed debut album For All We’ve Left Behind. Produced by Romesh Dodangoda, the album achieved several notable accolades, including ‘Album Of The Year’ by four different media outlets.
 
The singles from For All We’ve Left Behind enjoyed extensive airplay across national radio, including BBC Radio, Kerrang! Radio and Planet Rock Radio. The album was further bolstered by features in Fireworks, Power Play and Emerging Rock Bands Magazine.

Portugal’s Downfall Of Mankind are a modern metal powerhouse that incorporates a myriad of eclectic influences to create a propulsive metallic beast. Their brand new track, 'Purgatory,' perfectly showcases the new, unique dynamics added into their song-writing, which results in an aggressive, yet memorable banger. This song also marks the start of the band’s new partnership with Seek and Strike, leading into the release of their new, full-length album, Purgatory, which is set for a 14th June release.

Downfall Of Mankind commented: "Excitement isn’t enough to describe how big signing this deal was for us. The fact that our work is seen and recognized by Seek & Strike is a huge step in our career. Their roster is nothing short of incredible and we were very interested from the way they approached us and set goals. They really put the right mindset into what we want to achieve and we as a band feel extremely supported.

"We felt that 'Purgatory' was a perfect introduction to the new album, due to the fact that it features most of the new elements added to our sound (clean vocals, more melody, hooks, etc), while keeping the same brutality and rawness that our fans are accustomed to hearing. This song is about paranoia. How the voices inside your head won’t stop and how it consumes you from the inside in a very brutal way. You will find that the main theme of this album, lyrics wise, is all connected to aspects of the overall human psyche. It’s something that all of us are interested in and I believe the lyrics were written perfectly to translate that. The video’s theme is based around frenetic energy and how people harness/handle it. 

"We already consider our music very interesting and diverse, but we wanted to push ourselves even more this time. That’s how it should be. We are all very creative and have wide varieties of influences. The writing process of this new record also had a very strong influence from Matthew Heafy, bringing different elements to the table, such as incorporating different instruments from around the world. It really brought a different essence into this record and we couldn't be more excited for the world to hear it.

“Our sound is always evolving and we strive to keep it diverse and exciting. We have groove, lots of melody, heavy breakdowns, gnarly vocals, complex song structures, orchestral sections, etc. What sets us apart from the rest is the fact that we are able to take that bevy of influences and make it absolutely beautiful and unique, without being overwhelming. There’s a moment for everything, so it’s not an amalgamation of things. Think of it as a 10K puzzle. Scrambled it might not make sense, but when you assemble everything and see the picture as it is intended, it’s just amazing and satisfying. We’re not reinventing the genre, but we certainly think we offer something different and our sound will resonate across the world!"

The band comment: "'Marionettes' is about being someone’s puppet, understanding their obsessive need to control while dealing with the affects. The track is about discovering these flaws in somebody and dealing with the monotony and fatigue that comes with it, while empathising with those that are not willing to think about others. Through the walls of Hammond organs, synths and guitars re-amped through a Leslie rotary cabinet, listen out for the beer kegs being hit by a baseball bat in the riffs."

The Waking Sun was recorded at Middle Farm Studios with Sam Conevey. El Moono recently unveiled the album at a special session at Dolby Screening Room, London, where its 360-degree spatial Dolby Atmos mix delivered depth, clarity, and sonic details unheard of elsewhere. 

El Moono will embark on a headline tour in support of The Waking Sun.

The Waking Sun marks an exciting turn for El Moono toward the darker and more abrasive - a more mature release from a band already marked for greatness.

US brutalists WASTE have unveiled their new single / video 'Wither', another beast of a track taken from their new EP, In Bloom, out today via Seek & Strike.

WASTE are the embodiment of sheer brutality, as they continuously churn out tracks that are full of heaviness and intensity. However, make no mistake, because this is not your typical deathcore band, as they incorporate more dynamics into their song-writing, which offers up a unique vision and uncompromising sound. The In Bloom EP was produced by Bodysnatcher’s Chris Whited of 1776 Recordings. 

WASTE state: "Our new single, ‘Wither,' was written out of pure anger towards a society that uses people as assets for their own personal goals without putting into account the real human lives. People are left behind in the gutter of feeling like their life is only useful if profitable to others until they are discarded along with all the memories and relationships made along the way. The video for ‘Wither' really wasn't intended to be super high production or anything fancy. We just wanted to visualize the energy that comes with the song."

On the new EP, the band continue: "With these new songs, we wanted to tell a story that shined light on our collective lives and experiences. We touch on things like mental health and general hardships, but we also address certain topics that we take issue with. It's no question that the world has gone through some truly crazy, even traumatizing events over the past few years and this EP tells a story of our perspective during this time. 

“Our new track, ‘Worthless,' is the first single to be released from this collection of new songs. We actually chose this to take the lead as the first single because we feel it's really the culmination of what all of these new songs bring to the table. The music video, while simple, we feel represents the chaos and frenetic energy that the song puts out.

"Something that every member of this band feels strongly about is that we don't want to try to sound like a carbon copy of any other band in our genre. We simply bring many different elements of metal that we all enjoy and create a sound that utilizes a little bit of everything, but again our aim is not to take directly from a certified band. We'll always be trying new things and with that comes something that all our listeners can find enjoyment in. We don't stick to one specific genre, or style of metal. Each song is an attempt to deliver a new experience. We strive to create a full experience for our listeners. Whether they see us live or they are just listening to us. We want to leave them feeling like they just watched a movie or just listened to the soundtrack to one. We want to invoke an emotional reaction within our listener. With it be anger or happiness, sadness or excitement. Our music is made to take the individual through their own journey. 

"There are plenty of things about this new collection of music that we are proud of, but there are most definitely a few that really showcase aspects about all these tracks. The first one being the vocal performance of this record. Jeremy came at each one of these songs with a vengeance and delivered an absolutely incredible display showcasing the range of his vocal abilities. Every single member will say the first thing that stands out are the vocals. Instrumentally, we also pushed ourselves above and beyond to create something truly dynamic, overly aggressive and unique. 

“However, arguably and most importantly, is the production side. We, once again, worked with our good friend, Chris Whited of 1776 Recordings/Bodysnatcher drummer, for this recording. Chris has always been consistent and an absolute pleasure to work with, but this time around we can tell he took a certain different angle with this record, which resulted in the best sounding mix he's ever done. Every detail was given the time it required to make it sound the way it needed. From the drum mix to the tones, vocals and the extra production side of things, everything that was done was done with purpose. We’re stoked for you all to hear it and thanks for the support.”

Richard Henshall comments: "I road-tested an early iteration of 'Yang' at a Strandberg clinic I did with Plini a couple of years ago. For me, it’s the rhythm that drives this track along, which is a theme that reoccurs throughout all three EPs. I decided to name this track after my cat Yang as he passed away when I was writing it. He would often perch himself on my shoulder during writing sessions and nod his approval when I hit a good chord so it seemed fitting!"

During 2020 Henshall started work on his Mu collection, a trilogy of EPs that explore his love for jazz-infused, intricate instrumental music. The EPs will be released throughout 2024 and promise to be some of his most richly textured, adventurous music to date. Richard is joined by drummer Lang Zhao and saxophonist Adam Carillio, while he handles guitar, bass & keyboard duties.

Richard Henshall is a composer, guitarist and keyboardist hailing from London, England. He is acclaimed for his work as founding member of progressive metal juggernaut Haken, as well as his endeavours as a solo artist. Henshall has been named as Music Radar’s no. 11 'best prog guitarist’ and in Guitar World’s ‘top 15 best prog rock guitarist’. 

In 2014, Henshall joined forces with Between the Buried and Me’s Dan Briggs and formed Nova Collective. Together they wrote the critically acclaimed ‘The Further Side’, which draws influences from the likes of Chick Corea and Mahavishnu Orchestra. In 2017, Henshall, alongside his Haken bandmates, featured in Mike Portnoy’s Shattered Fortress performing the songs of Dream Theater for a year of very special shows around the world.

In 2019, Henshall completed work on his ambitious debut solo album, entitled The Cocoon, which features Jordan Rudess as well as host of other guests. The music ranges from dense polyrhythmic passages to delicate minimalistic interludes and features Henshall’s trademark guitar and keyboard playing throughout along with his debut performance as a lead vocalist. Prog Radar described it as “a truly impressive release and one that shows Richard at the height of his creative powers.”

On the video, frontperson Marisa comments: "The story in this video is a nostalgic look back at myself as a young child, and those feelings of being an outcast and not fitting in, and how that started to change through the process of me discovering music and alternative culture. I imagined how proud that younger version of myself would be if she could see me now, embracing who I am and fronting a band, and doing all the things I used to imagine and dream about when I was little. This personal story is a really good representation of what the song is about, which is accepting and celebrating your weirdness by being true to who you are."
