The Hellacopters release video for new single 'Stay With You'

Swedish high-energy rock 'n' roll legends THE HELLACOPTERS are very pleased to reveal a brand new single called 'Stay With You' via Nuclear Blast Records, the first new original Hellacopters song since the release of their triumphant, chart-topping comeback album, Eyes Of Oblivion, in April 2022.

Unsurprisingly, 'Stay With You' picks up exactly where the band left off two years ago. It's a no-bullshit action rock stunner that cuts right to the chase and yet again the band has delivered a stylish music video to be released alongside, which was directed and edited by Emil Klinta.

Nicke Andersson (guitars & vocals) commented:
"We’re in the middle of recording our new full-length album which has no date of release just yet. In the meantime we’re very excited about the release of our new single 'Stay With You'. It was originally intended to be included on the upcoming LP but we decided to do a Beatles and release it as stand alone track with a B-side. 'Stay With You' is a straight up minor key rocker and it’s backed with our interpretation of The Cure’s 'Fire In Cairo'. We hope you dig."

'Stay With You' is out today on all streaming platforms.

The song will also be available as a limited 7'' single via Lightning Records. The B-side contains a cover version of 'Fire In Cairo' by THE CURE.

Pre-orders are live NOW at www.lightningrecords.se

THE HELLACOPTERS released their eighth studio album titled Eyes Of Oblivion on April 1st, 2022. It marked the first full-length since the release of their temporary farewell record Head Off in 2008, and was met with massive acclaim from fans and media alike. Charting at #1 in Sweden, #3 in Germany, #6 in Finland, the band celebrated a triumphant return culminating in a show with the mighty Iron Maiden in Gothenburg in July 2022, and gigs with Ghost in Germany in June 2023. In February 2024 their beloved classic album Grande Rock was rereleased on physical formats, featuring a re-worked companion piece with additional guitar, piano and vocal tracks called Grande Rock Revisited.

Brutal metallic sludge outfit Mastiff conspire with industrial noise dealers Tayne on 'Trapped Inside The Void'

“If their last album sounded like it wanted to crawl into the corner and die, Deprecipice wants to kill you as swiftly & efficiently as it can.” - Metal Hammer

“...these are songs for when you’re at the end of your rope; when hopeless lyrics and vicious fight riffs make more sense than therapy or promises of better days..." Decibel

After the resounding success of their highly praised album Deprecipice, the fierce sludgecore band Mastiff have enlisted the help of the Dublin-born, London-based industrial group Tayne to elevate the intensity to new heights on their latest remix release, 'Trapped Inside The Void'. Picture a dark and gritty fusion of a HM-2 guitar pedal, pulsating synths, and rapid-fire drumming reminiscent of Al Jourgensen's signature style, creating a sonic landscape that pushes the boundaries of heaviness and innovation.

Watch the visualiser for 'Trapped Inside The Void' here: https://youtu.be/F8EJ_7-uHag

Order Deprecipice here: https://mastiff.ffm.to/deprecipice.OYD

Comments Mastiff, “We didn’t think it possible that anyone could make Mastiff sound even more abrasive and obnoxious, but it turns out Tayne is even more irresponsible with human hearing than we are!”

The evocative title 'Trapped Inside The Void' was inspired by Mastiff's partnership with the esteemed Nottingham brewery, Black Iris. This collaboration resulted in a robust and flavourful 7.2% NEIPA, brewed with a primary infusion of Citra Cryo hops and enhanced with subsequent dry hop additions of Cashmere and Mosaic Cryo. Check out the beer here.

Adds Tayne, Mastiff are the purveyors of disgusting music so trying to make them sound heavier was never going to be achievable. We decided to go with a new Beta sequence on this one, we kicked up the “4d3d3d3” and added some “hat wobble” to the track. We are stoked with the results. Hopefully it’s something that people will listen to and say…'now Tayne I can get into'."

From their inception amidst the bleak backdrop of Kingston-upon-Hull in 2013, Mastiff has been unwaveringly dedicated to the pursuit of intensity. The five-piece band seamlessly melds elements of extreme metal, sludge, and hardcore to craft ferociously brutal sonic experiences. Their relentless commitment to innovation ensures that their music remains dynamic, unfiltered, and teeming with raw emotion.

Signing to MNRK Heavy three years ago, Mastiff’s commitment to blunt-force aggression remains untempered. Their 2021 album, Leave Me The Ashes Of The Earth, was described by Blabbermouth’s Dom Lawson as a “horrifying slab of disgust” and “a sustained scream in the face of uncontrollable madness”. Now comes its long-anticipated follow-up: Deprecipice – an album that, somehow, smacks even harder than anything this band have unchained before, produced by longtime collaborator Joe Clayton (Wallowing, Ithaca, Tuskar) at Manchester’s No Studio. The beguiling artwork that runs throughout the album is by Paul Phillips at the award winning True Spilt Milk Designs, another long time collaborator with the band.

Unlike so many of their extreme metal peers right now, though, Mastiff didn’t source this rejuvenated savagery from the anxieties and frustrations of the COVID-19 pandemic. As the lockdowns ended and real life started to resume in 2021 and 2022, Hodge and Lee noticed the spirits of the world around them lifting. Feelings of trauma and isolation were beginning to enter people’s rear-view mirrors – and it was an overcoming that the duo couldn’t relate to. Lee was mourning the loss of his mother, while Hodge realised he was still grieving over the death of his five-day-old son, Isaac, in 2010.

As earnest as it is ferocious, with DeprecipiceMastiff have made a magnum opus that bleeds with genuine pain.

Australian dual bass prog trio The Omnific release new single 'Will-O'-The-Wisp'

The world’s most prominent bass-driven instrumental rock act, Australia’s The Omnific, return with their second album, The Law Of Augmenting Returns, an audacious and magnificent triumph - to be released on 7th June 2024 via Wild Thing Records

The trio have just released their brand new face-melting track 'Will-O'-The-Wisp':

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/2eNLM7zSPy0
Pre-Order/Pre-Save here: ffm.to/lawofaugmentingreturns

The band’s most progressive song to date, ‘Will-O'-The-Wisp’, is a beautiful labyrinth of grandiose proportions. An epic tale of many chapters, the song dances through bone-crushing riffs, memorable choruses, and eerie dreamlike sequences. The group are joined by the magical talents of Rohan Sharma (keyboards/programming, I Built The Sky) and Joshua Verco (double bass), forming a barrage of power and force. Additionally, Pranav Roy lends his trombone skills in subtle areas, adding a newfound edge to this monumental track. The Melbourne trio also experimented with a Fender Bass VI guitar for the strumming sections, and a vintage Madeira.

Bassist Toby Peterson-Stewart elaborates, “This song features quite a different sonic sound, when it comes to what we have done in the past, introducing many themes that we haven’t completely explored. This is the first Omnific song to feature a “Guitar”, the Fender Bass VI. It required 6 hands for us to fathom recording a guitar on one of our songs!

The mythical music video was realised by the acclaimed duo of Jamie McVicker and Declan Blackall (Plini) [The Omnific - ‘Phat Mackerel’, ‘Base Camp’]. Their most expansive feature yet, building an entire visual world made up of dozens of unique virtual environments. McVicker comments, “When the boys first showed us ‘Will-O'-The-Wisp’, we were instantly transported to distant realms, with galloping chorus licks and orb-pondering atmosphere twisting through a near-8-minute runtime leaving us with only one choice. This was a story of wizards three, and The Omnific they would be.” The music video maps a classical fantasy epic, in sync with its sprawling musical arrangement. A darker aesthetic eventuated, inspired by the immersive world of the ‘Lord of the Rings' film series, and the mystical peaks of Skyrim from ‘The Elder Scrolls V’.

The Omnific will be trailblazing their way through Europe & the UK, heading on their first ever summer festival run, alongside their most extensive array of headline shows in Europe to date. They’ll be making highly anticipated debut appearances at festivals; RADAR (UK), Vagos (PT), Brutal Assault (CZ), Arctangent (UK), and Fekete Zaj (HU). Led by their two other-worldly intertwining bassists, Matt Fack & Toby Peterson-Stewart, and backed by flamboyant drummer Jerome Lematua, The Bass Boys will be bringing a full tank of charisma, showmanship, and unbelievable technical performances from down under.

Rising UK alt-metal unit Defences stream new single 'Gold In The Dark'

Previous single 'The Curse' struck the blueprint for Defences' new direction, and 'Gold In The Dark' is where it was solidified. Serving as a direct continuation of the story told in its predecessor, 'Gold In The Dark' recounts the first steps in self-acceptance. Being at peace with your inner darkness first requires you to embrace it, to really shine a light into the parts of you that you choose to hide.

"I started reading, researching and practising the concept of shadow work during the lockdown years," comments singer Cherry Duesbury. "I realised there were parts of myself I was actively ignoring and pushing down, and it was contributing to why I was feeling so stunted, unhappy in myself and who I was in various ways. Coming across this concept and reading about the psychology behind it - which I've always been fascinated by and studied in school for a while - was really eye-opening and inspiring for me. These are some of my favourite lyrics I've ever written! And the ideas in this song sparked so much inspiration for this era of our band and the themes we explored, lyrically, musically and visually."

On the video, the band comment: "This is one of our favourite video shoots to date! We found an amazing derelict school out in Hereford where they run ghost tours. Once we got there and realised just how beautiful the building was, we decided it would be better to shoot each member in a different room rather than all bunch up in a room. This resulted in a huge amount of negative space in all of these shots, with huge rooms stretching behind as we’re performing, ending up this amazing eerie vibe. It felt a little bit like being in The Shining or The Haunting of Hill House!

"We also wanted to tie the newly established '
Shadow Cherry' to this location, so we showed her room from where she influences the world, resulting in the puppet strings effect seen in the video. This was great, but a lot of hard work to achieve! We had 2 metre-long metal poles with the other end of the ropes attached to them, so just know that any time you see one of us on screen with these ropes around us, all of the other members are just off-camera sweating buckets trying to keep them up!"

A proven hit on the live circuit, Defences have numerous U.K. tours with multiple sell-out headline shows under their belts, as well as festival appearances including Download, Takedown, Turbulence and Burn It Down. With soon-to-be-announced new material, live shows and the support of their strong fan community cultivated in their #TheHeart fan page, 2024 promises to be a big year for the quintet.

PAIN release new video for 'Don't Wake The Dead'

Industrial metal project PAIN have celebrated the release of their new album I Am (17th May, Nuclear Blast Records) with their new music video for 'Don’t Wake The Dead'.

Filled with anthems like 'Don’t Wake The Dead' and the hit single 'Party In My Head', alongside atmospheric tracks such as 'I Am' and 'Fair Game,' the album seamlessly blends uplifting catchiness with introspective moments, marking Peter Tägtgren's most personal and boldest work to date.

'Don't Wake The Dead' - written by Peter's son Sebastian Tägtgren can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/Ldil4-b0K64

Peter Tägtgren comments:
"The first time Seb showed me the song I was blown away, from the beginning to the end, so dark, yet so beautiful. After I heard the song I had a panic attack: "How do I sing on this? And what?"

Stream/Order I Am here: https://pain.bfan.link/i-am

It's 2021 and a pandemic is strangling the world - and no one seems to be having fun. Seemingly tireless music freak Peter Tägtgren couldn't care less as he hits the jackpot with - pardon the harsh language – a fucking catchy... well, party anthem. We are of course talking about the song ‘Party in My Head’ by Tägtgren's synth-infused metal project PAIN.

"I don't really know what it is about ‘Party in My Head’ that made - still makes - people go crazy for it... But what I do know for sure is that the song has already been enjoyed millions and millions of times. The numbers are pretty crazy! Of course, PAIN is no stranger to writing danceable and catchy, albeit metallic shit... It's always been in the DNA of this project. But let's face it: if the world really needs 'party anthems' from a cynical geezer like me, something's seriously wrong"Peter laughs.

Our beloved planet may be screwed, but there still doesn't seem to be much wrong in PAIN's world as 2024 ticks fast on the calendar. There simply can't be, because PAIN's eagerly awaited new studio album I Am is now here - yes, after eight years of devoted waiting.

"The previous record Coming Home came out in 2016 - and of course there was a tour after that. In 2019, I released an album called F & M with Rammstein singer Till Lindemann, a project I left in 2020. In 2021, it was time for my death metal band Hypocrisy to get active with a new album Worship - and of course we toured again. If that wasn't enough, let's add that there was a studio album with Joe Lynn Turner in 2022... In other words: the last eight years have passed in the blink of an eye"Peter sighs.

"After all this, it was the perfect time for PAIN to go full force again. I felt excited to say the least. Needless to say, the success of ‘Party in My Head’ gave the album process an explosive start!"

Let's get one thing straight: the powerful-sounding I Am is truly a versatile - if not the most versatile - musical missile in PAIN's rich discography. The new songs go everywhere with heavy industrial riffs, haunting melancholic vibes and groove-filled rhythms - without forgetting surprises, of course.

"There's no boundaries with PAIN. I just get an interesting idea for a song and along the way it can turn into anything. Sometimes I also like to deliberately surprise people by following an exciting musical path where unexpected things happen"Peter describes.

"If I had one big goal this time, it was to add more intensity and edge to the songs. Coming Home turned out great, but looking back now, I was maybe a little too deep into my 'David Bowie worship' with the orchestral stuff and the acoustic guitars. This time around, I definitely wanted more tempo, aggressiveness and an industrial atmosphere. Going back towards the old times of PAIN? Maybe a bit..."

I Am is also more of a family affair than ever before. My son Sebastian - also a PAIN drummer - wrote the music of ‘Revolution’ and ‘Don't Wake the Dead’. These absorbing songs add width to an already versatile album. All in all, completing I Am required a lot of composing, writing, thinking, experimenting, doing and re-doing. It was a long and sometimes challenging process, but never painful!"

Speaking of surprises... What song will give fans the biggest wow effect this time?

"It must be ‘Go With the Flow’. I dare to insist that when it starts rolling, even the deep connoisseurs of PAIN music are wondering what the heck is going on here. I would say it's my 'Depeche Mode in the 80s' song'", Peter laughs.

"Lyrically, ‘Go With the Flow’ represents a slightly brighter moment in the darkness. I always tend to think that everything is going to hell, but with this song I tell myself, 'come on dude, let things be for once and go with the flow'."

There may be these rare rays of light from the beacon, but darkness still prevails.

"The album's title track starts with the line 'there's no hope in the valley of death'. And if I look at the lyrics, I could dig up a lot other examples of similar sinister moods. But hey, a sarcastic guy like me and such gloomy times we live in... Are you expecting some sunny faces here? Well, sunny or not, PAIN is going to be busy for the foreseeable future. There will be a lot of touring to support the record. Summer festivals, extensive tours here and there and more", Peter says.

"And what about the future anyway? Ask me again in eight years and there have been a few studio albums from different bands, a lot of gigs and something else. Yes, I am what "I Am"..."

This powerful anthem of resistance, infused with intense lyrics and pulsating rhythms, is a relentless call to action. The track opens with a bold challenge to the status quo, intensifying into a declaration of unstoppable energy and change. Accompanied by a dynamic music video that captures the essence of rebellion, the song and its visuals stimulate the senses, portraying the urgency and chaos of revolution.

In 2023, amidst significant lineup changes that led to the departure of several original members, founding vocalist Adam Woodford took the reins. Determined to turn adversity into opportunity, Woodford revitalised Polar by bringing on new members Stefan Whiting (bass), Bruno Consani (guitar), Simon Richardson (guitar), and Max Flohr (drums). This fresh lineup has injected new energy and perspective into the band, further amplifying the defiant and transformative message of 'We Won't Sleep'!

Since their formation in 2009, Polar have carved out a distinctive niche with their intense, chaotic sound and electrifying live performances. Over the past 15 years, they have built a solid reputation, establishing themselves as a powerful presence in the music scene.

This rejuvenated lineup has not only taken centre stage at Resurrection Festival but has also completed tours across Europe and the UK. Together, they have produced Polar's 6th studio album with Jack Murphy at Crystal Sound Studios, exploring the theme of change's destructive power. This album is considered by the band as their most impactful work to date. With renewed positivity and unyielding determination, Polar has reached new heights of strength and shows no signs of stopping.

Wake Up The Wicked – the highly anticipated successor to the extremely successful previous studio album, Call Of The Wild (2021) – will be released just in time for the award-winning band’s first ever full North American tour, starting in August 2024, followed by their biggest European headline tour to date, the Wolfsnächte 2024. Wake Up The Wicked is once again produced by the outstanding Joost van den Broek at Sandlane Recording Facilities and marks a new benchmark and undisputed career highlight for the band. The new album is hard, surprising and full of variety. While staying true to their established, loved sound, POWERWOLF go one step further and showcase a different facet of their deft musical and technical skills. This is evident, for example, on the outstanding single '1589', which is based on a true story from the 16th Century.

20 years after their formation in 2004, POWERWOLF are expanding their repertoire with the highest quality and adding many future live hits to their extraordinary discography. Wake Up The Wicked is yet another statement cementing the status of the band as a leading force in the world of heavy metal.

Future Palace release video for brand new single 'The Echoes of Disparity'

German trio Future Palace have released a video for their brand new single 'The Echoes of Disparity', out now via Arising Empire. The track is taken from the band's upcoming album Distortion which will be released on 6th September.

'The Echoes of Disparity', featuring a standout collaboration with Charlie Rolfe from As Everything Unfolds, makes a strong statement regarding societal pressure and control over women's bodies. Maria showcases an impressive vocal range, transitioning between powerful shouts and crystal-clear vocals, adding depth and emotion to the song's important message.

The world is a firework of overstimulation, and Future Palace have dedicated their upcoming album Distortion, to this feeling of overwhelm. On the new record, the band delves into the nearly oppressive mass of mental illnesses and societal problems, creating music that, fittingly, delivers more hooks than ever before, shifting seamlessly from the quietest depths to the loftiest heights. While their previous album, Run, leaned toward musical extremes, Distortion is the ultimate culmination of all the tones Future Palace have absorbed on their Europe-wide journey as one of the most exciting acts in alternative guitar music.

Future Palace's music has always explored internal struggles, and Distortion is the brutal climax of this approach. The album title, derived from the psychological term cognitive distortion, reflects a world where changing perceptions trap individuals in recurring pitfalls. Distortion addresses various mental illnesses and personal struggles, from ADHD to depression to narcissism. The band's third album is a powerful force of emotions, cycles, and cries of desperation, overwhelming listeners with its intensity.

The band's creativity shines as they tackle demanding topics with fresh perspectives. On Distortion, they build on their previous work by incorporating new elements, like orchestral interjections in 'The Echoes of Disparity', which combines brutal screams and chant-like passages to convey psychological struggle. 'Panic Paralysis' features a massive vocal motif with an arabesque touch, while 'They Take What They Want' dives into emotional depths, blending raw metalcore with gentle vocal passages and massive choirs.

Despite the album's emotional intensity, Distortion was created amid excessive demands. Produced by Julian Breucker and Christoph Wieczorek, known for their work with Annisokay, Beyond the Black, and Smash Into Pieces, the recording process was grueling. Singer Maria Lessing recorded the album with a root infection and after wisdom tooth surgery, adding stress but enhancing the songs' authenticity. Guitarist Manuel Kohlert notes that the album reflects the band's experience as a heavy touring band, capturing the feelings of being on the road and contemplating their existence.

Despite its challenges, Distortion carries a piece of hope. 'Decarabia' tells a bittersweet story about a depressed couple, while 'The Echoes of Disparity', featuring Charlie Rolfe of As Everything Unfolds, is militantly rebellious, addressing abuse of power and the oppression of women. Lessing emphasizes the importance of female support to convey the song's message loudly.

The album features the most powerful metalcore breakdowns meeting trembling darkwave beats, anthemic emocore refrains à la Bad Omens contrasted with sacred choirs, and the coldness of industrial clashing with the powerful emotionality of Sleep Token, making Distortion an album like a manifesto.
