Post-doom artist The Devil's Trade announces new album, streams single

Acclaimed post-doom artist The Devil's Trade has today announced his new album Nincs Szennyezetlen Szép, to be released 7th November via Pelagic Records. In celebration of the news, the first single from the album, the haunting 'Weltschmerz' has also been unveiled.

The Devil's Trade comment on 'Weltschmerz': "'The word 'weltschmerz' is much more than just ‘world-pain’ - it is a mood of weariness, sadness, or melancholy about life, rooted in an acute awareness of the world's evil and suffering. It can be understood as a deep sadness about the insufficiency or cruelty of the world and the gap between ideal expectations and harsh realities. It signifies a sorrow one might feel and accept as part of life, carrying elements of pessimism and a melancholic view about existence and the human condition.

"The song is about all the sacrifices to evolve to a better person to be able to provide a more loving, safer and healthier home but at the same time the world outside has already been hopeless."

Dávid Makó began The Devil’s Trade in 2014. His early solo work, often performed with only an acoustic guitar or banjo, quickly garnered attention for its emotional depth and stark beauty. Drawing on Appalachian folk, dark Americana, and Hungarian folk traditions, Makó's music has been praised for its haunting vocals, minimalist arrangements, and profound emotional honesty. Recently, and especially in this new release, elements of post-metal and doom have taken Makó's sound into new, exciting territory, whilst retaining his unique intimacy.

Nincs Szennyezetlen Szép, translated as “there is no uncontaminated beauty”, is a record forged in grief and the unflinching confession. Fans of The Devil’s Trade will immediately recognise Makó’s signature elements: the deep, rugged baritone, the uncanny ability to transmit raw emotion and melodies drenched in melancholia. With his fifth studio album however, Makó reclaims the heaviness of his early years, pushing his sound into new, atmospheric territory.Nincs Szennyezetlen Szép is much darker and heavier and more complex than anything I have done”, says Makó.

Working within a larger, more dynamic canvas, Makó's confessional power is met with metal-wrought anguish, reborn as an intimate, haunting journey toward authenticity. Nincs Szennyezetlen Szép is an elegy to his late mother. “Between the death of my mother and the birth of my son we only had two weeks" explains Makó, and this complexity of emotion is felt in every beat and breath of the album. Survival, suffering, isolation, the endless human turmoil that hangs over our shared and personal grief. All this is expressed defiantly, through a voice that is devastatingly vulnerable and resilient.

While The Devil’s Trade remains a deeply personal, largely self-driven project, Nincs Szennyezetlen Szép also reflects the input of key collaborators. "Just like with (previous album) Vidékek vannak idebenn, my old friend Gaspar Binder helped me write and record the drums and I wrote and played everything else. Szabolcs Szűcs, our local legend engineered the album and my best friend Márton Szabó helped us as a producer, or I love to use the term: musical conscience. This time I dared to ask another friend of mine, Nikita Kampard (Der Weg Einer Freiheit) to be the mastering engineer and it makes me so grateful that he said yes", states Makó.

Nincs Szennyezetlen Szép is not an easy listen, nor was it meant to be. It is a sincerely painful document of mourning and the myriad of emotions that grip us, from bitter rage to catatonic sadness. It is a testament to the resilience found in surviving and continuing through all, a reminder that "there is no uncontaminated beauty".

Downswing sign to MNRK Heavy and announce new album

New York metallers Downswing have signed to MNRK Heavy and announced their forthcoming album, And Everything Was Dark, set for release on 24th October.

The band have also shared the video for lead single 'For What It’s Worth' (feat. Travis Moseley of Colorblind), a bleak and unflinching outpouring of betrayal, confusion and emotional fallout.

Vocalist Harrison Seanor comments, “As a collective going into the studio, we knew that ‘For What It's Worth’ was a heavy favorite. Right from the opening riff, it just has that energy, that drive. It's hard not to bang your head."

For nearly a decade Downswing have steadily evolved into a powerhouse of modern metal and groove. The band’s current incarnation emphasises soaring choruses, thunderous breakdowns, atmospheric depth and emotional intensity.

“This is the first time it feels like we’re doing exactly what we want,” says vocalist Harrison Seanor, who joined the band in 2020. “We’re not chasing any specific trend or scene. We’re Downswing.”

Created with a focus on clarity and impact, And Everything Was Dark builds on the sonic foundation of their earlier work while venturing boldly into new territory. Gargantuan riffs and crushing breakdowns intertwine with massive hooks, layered textures and lyrics that resonate deeper than ever before.

'For What It’s Worth' is a bleak outburst of betrayal, confusion and emotional fallout. 'Too Little Too Late' and 'Glass House' explore the record’s central themes: what it means to lose someone you love, the toll of addiction and self-destruction and the slow, painful process of letting go.

“Every song on this record has real meaning,” Seanor says. “There are songs about people we’ve lost, about people we’ve watched spiral, about trying to forgive people who hurt you. It’s personal, but I think people will relate to it in their own way.”

Formed in 2016, Downswing quickly made waves with their unique blend of metallic hardcore aggression and groove-driven heaviness. Early releases such as the Dark Side of the Mind EP (2017) and Good Intentions (2020) cultivated a dedicated underground following and earned the band a reputation for high-intensity performances. 2022 brought the critically acclaimed New Lows EP with their most recent release, Let This Life Devour You EP, arriving in 2024.

Downswing saw And Everything Was Dark as an opportunity to create the kind of record they wanted to hear, without compromise.  “We focused a lot more on structure and storytelling this time around,” Seanor explains. “Before, things might have been more chaotic or riff-driven, but now we’re thinking about flow, dynamics, and what makes a song feel big and memorable. There’s no filler here. Every song has a purpose.”

Downswing will be hitting the road across the USA this September, opening for He Is Legend in celebration of the 20th anniversary of their Suck Out the Poison album. Whether playing to packed hometown crowds or making new converts on the road, Downswing are committed to growth, expression and authenticity. They’ve weathered hardships, lineup changes, personal losses and shifting trends and emerged more confident than ever in who they are.

Downswing aren't just evolving. They’ve arrived.

Pupil Slicer announce new album; drop new single and video

UK mathcore dissonants Pupil Slicer return this autumn with a record that drags them further into the shadows. Their upcoming full-length, Fleshwork, is a brutal reawakening, sharpened, unflinching and ready to push their extremity into new, more harrowing territory. The album will be released on 7th November via Prosthetic Records.

The third single from the album, title track 'Fleshwork'lands with suffocating weight. Accompanied by a stark, cinematic video directed by longtime collaborator David Gregory, the single unravels a narrative that stretches across the album’s visual accompaniments, drawing listeners deeper into the record’s bleak thematic core.

Watch the video for 'Fleshwork' here: https://youtu.be/ZD260l2fBuM

Pre-order Fleshwork here: https://pupilslicer.ffm.to/fleshworkalbum

The band comment: “‘Fleshwork’ as a track originally started as experimentation into more industrial and groove-oriented writing that we found really worked well in the practice space. Since road testing this song, we’ve found it hits like a brick wall live and really works in that setting so we believe it’s a great starting point for this new era. Lyrically, this song encompasses a lot of the themes of the album, dealing with manipulation, death, and total eradication of one’s own humanity to further a cause you don’t believe in and perpetuate a cycle of killing. The music video was directed by our good friend David Gregory who we are excited to be collaborating with again. The narrative in the video spans across all of the upcoming singles for this release, to tell a story that depicts the tonal and thematic elements of our album through a cinematic eye.”

During the pandemic, Pupil Slicer offered up their debut album, Mirrors, a gnashing, feral affair that thrust them into the spotlight thanks to their discordant, angular DIY efforts. Sophomore album, Blossom, put more emphasis on songwriting and slicker production values as the Pupil Slicer show truly hit the road. Fleshwork deftly combines the best bits of their previous releases, retaining the hook-laden song structures yet refusing to compromise on the acerbic energy that lured eager fans in from the very beginning.

This iteration of Pupil Slicer ushers in new talent in the form of bass player, Luke Booth, whose contributions rounded out the writing process neatly. This rejuvenated lineup sought to retain the melodic elements of Blossom whilst simultaneously pushing their sonic boundaries to the extreme. The result is a more organic sound, energised by incandescent fury that embraces imperfections as a sign of life. Recording and mixing took place in early 2025 at Nø Studio in Manchester with producer Joe Clayton at the helm. Grant Berry handled mastering.

Describing Fleshwork as “conceptual” but specifically not a concept album, Pupil Slicer lean into creating an all-encompassing industrial hellscape; a perfect setting to explore the societal machinations that dehumanise and devalue the poor, disabled, queer and people of colour for political and financial gain. Drawing on personal experience, vocalist and guitarist Kate Davies details the disconnect and discomfort of navigating this life, and the substantial human day-to-day cost of doing so.

Over the course of the nine songs unfolding, the imagery of the oppressive machinery falls away to leave behind only the personal, human elements. What starts as the smallest of sparks roars into a chthonic inferno, demonstrating the impact of and on one solitary human as the weight of subjection turns to ash. Fleshwork serves as a cathartic conduit for those who are “othered” by a society distinctly lacking in empathy, as Pupil Slicer champion their own brand of “trans inclusive radical hatred".

Whilst the band continues to draw influence from the likes of Nine Inch Nails and Oathbreaker, as well as lyrical and tonal inspiration from film, anime and video games (specifically Chainsaw Man, Mouthwashing and NieR among others), on Fleshwork they’ve created a monster entirely of their own design. This beast could only have been formed by the minds and bodies of those who have already walked the treacherous, dystopian path that they are now illuminating for others.

The band comment: Fleshworkis a deconstruction of what it means to be human, the penchant for personal and society-wide self-destruction and systemic cruelty that seems all but guaranteed to rear its head as long as humans exist. It’s more grounded and emotionally charged than our previous work, with a stronger emphasis on the failings of our world to look after those who need it the most and our own ability to look after ourselves. How much pain can you inflict on yourself and others before you cease to be human? There is no limit; all of the worst things to happen to the human race have been caused by its own members.Fleshwork's new image ofPupil Slicer is one that's frayed around the edges, incinerated and burned to the ground; a survivor in a wasteland of loss and decay.”

This era ofPupil Slicer isn’t just a continuation: it’s a rupture, a scream from the margins, a refusal to be palatable, and it’s exactly what heavy music needs right now.

Finnish instrumental duo NYOS reveal second new single 'Superstar'

NYOS, the lauded Finnish instrumental duo, have unveiled their new single 'Superstar', the second from forthcoming record Growl (10th October, via Pelagic Records).

Watch the video for the new single, 'Superstar', here: https://youtu.be/ks8OsQvIsn0

Pre-order Growl here: https://orcd.co/nyos-growl

NYOS comment on 'Superstar': "'Superstar' was the working title for the record for a long time (before Growl took over and felt way more fitting) - but it became attached to this song regardless, and we're excited to release this one as the 2nd single from the album. This one came out super fast during a really fun rehearsal/writing session (during which 4 out of the 9 songs from the record basically came out fully formed all at once) and just instantly felt like a late summer single, so things just worked out perfect - we took a band holiday to Vietnam instead of doing a spring tour this year, and filmed some footage with the idea that it could be the material for our friend Pietu to manipulate into a music video for the song - he absolutely nailed it and we're thrilled to finally be able to share it... hope you all enjoy it!"

Videographer Pietu Arvola adds: "NYOS’ lads went to Vietnam and provided me with a treasure trove of weird videos depicting things like roosters, ladies dancing outside, a Pomeranian taking a nap and a tiny crab chilling out on a spoon. After making some oddball editing and processing the videos with glitchy machines and CRT TVs, the material ended up fitting the kooky atmosphere and rhythms of 'Superstar' perfectly."

Comprised of guitarist Tom Brooke and drummer Tuomas Kainulainen, NYOS are known for their immersive and often physically demanding live shows. The duo create massive sonic worlds using Brooke’s labyrinthine loops and atmospheric layering alongside Kainulainen’s kinetic drumming, in music that is rhythmic, raw, and eclectic.

Since their formation in 2014, NYOS have carved out a distinctive place within Europe’s experimental and post-rock scenes, characterised by their relentless energy, polyrhythmic complexity, and hypnotic layering.

While still rooted in their signature loop-based approach, Growl is “more ambitious with song soundscapes and compositions”, says guitarist Tom Brooke, naturally embracing a denser, more textured sound with greater attention to atmosphere and tension.

Throughout their discography, NYOS have shown an emotional and tonal shift toward ambiguity — a willingness to dwell in dissonance or delay resolution in favour of sustained tension or tranquil drift. These dramatic shifts can be felt throughout the album, in which the listener is escorted from vibrance to intensity, offering a contrast not in energy, but in clarity.

“We often have a vibe or some ideas we wanna try out”, comments Brooke. “The songs though basically come from jamming - we'll jam stuff and I record the jams, and then kinda backwards shape them into songs which we then re-record! So often the final structures will be set when doing the first guitar/loop recordings, but the ideas are always all there.”

The result is a dynamic and emotionally complex record that feels like a mature synthesis of everything that had come before. There is a joy in the interplay of Growl, even when the music veers into abrasive terrain.

Growl is our longest record to date, and when producing it, we were very conscious to make sure it is an album that holds the listener”, states Brooke.

Throughout Growl, NYOS remain unmistakably themselves: their hallmark technical precision and sonic inventiveness are ever-present. Harnessing a vast dynamic range, the Finnish two-piece blend moments of fragile minimalism with visceral, precise, and emotionally immersive sound. “I think sonically it has all the characteristics of some of our works, but I think that we both feel like this record is the first time we've ever truly managed to capture everything we want”, says Brooke, “all the angles/emotions/vibes came out just as we hoped/imagined.”

As eclectic and exciting as ever, NYOS are a band in continuous motion, unafraid to challenge themselves and their listeners with ever-expanding sonic vocabularies. Growl is an album that is both coherent and seamless in its movement, walking a tightrope between meticulous structure and explosive energy.

In their time NYOS have performed hundreds of shows across the globe, including with Zeal & Ardor, Esben & The Witch and The Comet Is Coming.

Icelandic prog rock torchbearers THE VINTAGE CARAVAN stream single 'Crossroads'

After joining forces with OPETH’s Mikael Åkerfeldt on their previous single 'Philosopher', Icelandic retro-fuelled prog rock trio THE VINTAGE CARAVAN have released new single 'Crossroads', taken from their forthcoming studio album, Portals, due out on 26th September 2025 via Napalm Records.  The track showcases THE VINTAGE CARAVAN's signature fusion of classic hard rock, blues, and psychedelia, with a thunderous blend of 70s-inspired riffs and modern energy.

Bassist Alexander Örn Númason commented: "We are very happy to present to you our new single 'Crossroads'! The song, which is a slight departure from our previous work, almost ended up on our album Monuments. Ultimately we felt like the time wasn’t right but fast forward a few years, we had a few playthroughs and finally we felt like we were able to do the song justice.

"This album is very much about trying out new styles and techniques and this was the perfect fit for this diverse catalog of songs. At this point in our career we feel like we can really try completely new things and just allow songs to be what they are without having to adhere to a certain style and I think it really shows with this album.

"Lyrically the song was written when I was at a certain crossroads in my life. It reflects on that through the lens of being lost in a forest at nighttime and your mind racing at every sound and sight. The cherry on top for this song were the guest vocals from Icelandic powerhouse singer Eyþór Ingi, who happened to be in Porto at the time.

"We sincerely hope you enjoy and thanks for listening!"

Portals is another testament to THE VINTAGE CARAVAN’s endlessly creative, modern take on the psychedelic retro rock sound, cementing the band’s leading position in the scene. The band’s previous studio album, Monuments, hit #21 on the German charts, marking a milestone in their evolution, and the new offering – which also features a stunning guest performance by Opeth’s Mikael Åkerfeldt on the soulful album opener 'Philosopher' – continues to solidify THE VINTAGE CARAVAN’s reputation as torchbearers of contemporary classic rock. Aside from their critically acclaimed releases, the band’s electrifying live performances have mesmerized audiences at major festivals such as Wacken Open Air and Hellfest, as well as on international tours both as headliners and as support for the likes of progressive metal giants Opeth. THE VINTAGE CARAVAN will be celebrating the release of Portals with extensive headline tours in mainland Europe and the UK, announced for autumn 2025.

Ukrainian blackened death metal force 1914 announce new album and unveil first single/video

Ukrainian blackened death/doom metal unit 1914 return with unrelenting power on their fourth studio album, Viribus Unitis, out 14th November via Napalm Records

Alongside the album announcement, the band have revealed their first single, '1916 (The Südtirol Offensive)', a despairing blackened doom anthem of defiance.

Watch the video for '1916 (The Südtirol Offensive)' here: https://youtu.be/n-QDGBnCqoQ

Pre-order Viribus Unitis here: http://lnk.to/1914-ViribusUnitis/napalmrecords

Viribus Unitis, which is Latin for 'With United Forces', is more than just the personal motto of Franz Joseph I, the former emperor of the Austro-Hungarian Empire - this title directly speaks to 1914's resilience through war, loss, and upheaval; a powerful symbol of survival and solidarity. The new album builds on the band’s acclaimed conceptual approach, reaching new emotional depths and musical intensity.

Continuing their chronicle of World War I, 1914 shift their focus from the raw portrayal of death and destruction, to exploring themes of camaraderie, endurance and the emotional landscapes of those who endured the horrors of trench warfare. While previous releases like The Blind Leading the Blind (2018) and Where Fear and Weapons Meet (2021) centred on the futility and finality of war, Viribus Unitis exemplifies the interpersonal bonds forged under fire and the strength of those warriors who made it home: broken, changed, yet still alive.

The first single to be taken from the album, '1916 (The Südtirol Offensive)', is a despairing blackened doom anthem of defiance, recounting the brutal Battle of Asiago in grim, poetic detail. With thunderous riffs and crushing walls of sound, 1914 make the Austro-Hungarian attack on Italy tangible, bringing another piece of history to life through sound, relentlessly and uncompromisingly.

k.u.k. Galizisches IR Nr.15, Gefreiter, Ditmar Kumarberg about '1916 (The Südtirol Offensive)':
“From May 15 to June 10, 1916, the Italian Front saw one of its most intense clashes: the Battle of Asiago, also known as the Trentino Offensive. The Austro-Hungarian army launched a massive surprise attack, hoping to crush Italian forces and break into the Venetian plains. Nearly 200 battalions and 2000 guns, including 280 heavy artillery pieces, were amassed in Trentino. The Italians, caught off guard, were pushed back – but held the line with fierce resistance. The combined toll of 230,000 casualties on both sides underscores the staggering human cost of the campaign. A brutal reminder of the mountain warfare that defined this front.”

Musically, 1914 remain true to their identity, a brutal mixture of blackened death metal, slow-burning doom, and ambient war soundscapes. This time, however, their sound gains a broader dynamic range, with soaring melodic leads, orchestral textures, and haunting clean vocals that provide dramatic contrast to the crushing heaviness.

1914 about Viribus Unitis: "Viribus Unitis is about shared strength and the idea that true power lies in unity. Alone, one may fall, together, we can prevail and achieve our goals: Defeat the enemy, escape captivity, survive and return to your family. We return with a new story. A story of life and military valor of a soldier who encountered the Great War in his native city of Lviv and went through it all. Side by side, with joint efforts of Ukrainians, Poles, Hungarians, Slovenes, Czechs, Slovaks, Jews, Croats, Bosniaks, Germans – all the peoples who made up the vast Austro-Hungarian Empire. Empires did not count people – they threw them into meat grinders where survival was only possible through unity. By helping one another. By sacrificing yourself for the sake of your loved ones and comrades.

"This is a story of being blinded by war and the grandeur of the empire, of the heat of battle, realisation and acceptance of reality, awakening, changing values, captivity, and liberation. It is a story of unbreakable will to live and hope amidst a terrifying and bloody war. It is a story of a new little life that changes all the rules and forces one to see the familiar from a different perspective. It is a story of love. It is a story of loss and death. Viribus Unitis is when pain, death, loss, loneliness and fear encircle you. But you’re still unbroken!"

One of the album’s highlights is a collaboration with Aaron Stainthorpe of My Dying Bride and High Parasite on '1918 Pt. 3: ADE (A Duty to Escape)', whose mournful voice adds a solemn, almost liturgical quality to this elegy of grief and brotherhood on the front lines. Viribus Unitis deepens 1914’s commitment to historical authenticity, both lyrically and conceptually. Told through real events and personal accounts of a Ukrainian soldier in the K.u.K. Army, the album traces a timeline from 1914 to 1919, painting a grim journey through the war’s rise, climax, and hollow aftermath. From the brooding opener 'War In' to the bleak closer 'War Out (The End?)', each track captures a moment in time: the brutal '1914 (The Siege of Przemyśl)', the frostbitten '1915 (Zwinin Ridge)', the crushing Alpine combat of '1916 (Südtirol Offensive)', and the madness of '1918 Pt. 2: POW (Prisoner of War)' featuring Christopher Scott of Precious Death. The album ends with '1919 (The Home Where I Died)'featuring Rome’s Jerome Reuter, a haunting portrait of a soldier who survived the war, but not its shadow. This emotional song deals with the soldier's will to live and his family values, seeing him escape from captivity to finally return home to embrace his wife and daughter. 1914 fuse blackened death metal, doom, and atmospheric textures with dramatic flourishes and guest vocals, creating their most dynamic and emotionally resonant record to date.

"'Lost In Blue' is a much more introspective and personal song, reminiscent of our debut album," comments band leader Tymon Kruidenier. "I prefer not to divulge too much about my lyrics; I’d rather let the listener form their own interpretation. So, staying true to that, I’ll leave the meaning open-ended and instead focus on the music. The musical embryo for this song actually came from Robin, specifically the alternating C major to B major progression. I built the rest of the song around that idea. For the instrumental section, I wanted to try something we hadn’t done before: a dual bass/guitar solo. In line with the song’s lyrical theme, I envisioned the bass and guitar parts dancing around each other, creating a sense of entanglement and interplay. It ultimately didn’t end up sounding much like a traditional solo, but I love how it turned out regardless."

On Right Here, Right NowOur Oceans unveil a brighter, more exhilarating sonic landscape while maintaining the evocative emotional depth that has become their hallmark. Inspired by the "bright quality of the now," the band from the Netherlands crafts a richly layered musical journey filled with lush harmonies and uplifting atmospheres. The album captures the vibrancy of the present moment, blending intricate musicianship with an infectious sense of optimism.

"I’m incredibly proud of our previous album, but it’s a bit of a bitter pill to swallow," continues singer and guitarist Tymon Kruidenier"This time around, I also felt the need to return to the creative philosophy behind the first Our Oceans album: simply letting things flow. Instead of steering the process or clinging to preconceived ideas of what the music should be, I wanted to trust in an open and unrestricted creative approach, allowing the songs to take shape naturally. It all started with the chorus for what became the album’s first track, 'Golden Rain'. From there, everything came together in what felt like one effortless flow state that lasted for a month or two. I think this resulted in a collection of songs that feel balanced and cohesive, yet diverse and playful."

German pop-punk troupe Indecent Behavior and UK emo pop-punkers Air Drawn Dagger drop joint single

German pop-punk rising stars Indecent Behavior and their British emo pop-punk label mates Air Drawn Dagger are releasing a joint single today, entitled 'Give Me Everything'.

After performing at Rock am Ring, Rock im Park and touring with Neck Deep, Zebrahead and the DonotsIndecent Behavior have their fourth studio album, SICK, in the pipeline, due for release on 26th September. Air Drawn Dagger released their debut album 'A Guide For Apparitions' in April, produced by Neil Kennedy (Creeper, Boston Manor), recently toured with Halocene and Crushed By Waves, and performed at Glastonbury Festival.

"The new single 'Give Me Everything' is for all those who want to break free from a toxic relationship – confidently and looking forward," says Indecent Behavior singer Henrik Bergmann. "People are different – what is completely normal for one person can mean the exact opposite for another. When two fundamentally different personalities come together in a relationship, it often gets complicated – sometimes even painful. 'Give Me Everything' is a liberating blow. The song is about the moment when you realise: 'I don't want this anymore – I'm worth more than this and I won't let myself be manipulated any longer. It's not about settling scores with anger, but consciously drawing a line under things – without resentment, but with a clear view of the future. Maisie from Air Drawn Dagger brings a second perspective to the song. Because even if at first glance it seems as if there is a clear 'guilty' person, it is often simply a question of fundamentally different views on life and on each other."

In November, the two bands will also be performing together on stage, as Air Drawn Dagger will be accompanying Indecent Behavior on their SICK tour through Germany from 20 to 28 November. Let's go!

We live in a world full of impressions. What seems like an ocean full of possibilities to some is incredibly overwhelming, oppressive and unfair to others. There is no escape from the mass of unfiltered information that rains down on us every day. No light at the end of the dark news tunnel. No clear way out of the labyrinth of options, which instead of freedom only brings excessive demands. SICK was created precisely from these thoughts and is an album for everyone for whom it sometimes just gets too much. Who feel like they are living in a world that they simply don't understand. For all people who are looking for a place where they can feel understood and comfortable.

Swiss metal powerhouse Burning Witches release single / video 'Soul Eater'

Swiss heavy metal powerhouse Burning Witches have unleashed their brand new single, 'Soul Eater', taken from their upcoming album, Inquisition, out this Friday, 22nd August via Napalm Records.

The all-female force blends classic heavy metal with the raw intensity of ’80s thrash, as 'Soul Eater' delivers a relentless assault of pounding drums, razor-sharp riffs and soaring vocals, all anchored by an unforgettable chorus.

"This is the sound of Burning Witches, which represents our soul, mood and ravenous character in the love of Heavy Metal," the band comment. "Fast, heavy, screamy  - just how we like it! So play it as loud as you can, metalheads!"

On their sixth studio offering, the band return with a darker, more thunderous brew - diving headfirst into the themes of medieval persecution, religious oppression, and the unbreakable spirit of resistance. Featuring 12 brand-new tracks, the album marks a bold new era: forged in the flames of power/heavy metal, sharpened by anthemic songwriting and epic instrumentation.

Catch the band in the UK on the following dates:

23.01.26  London - The Dome UK
24.01.26  Birmingham - The Asylum  UK
25.01.26  Manchester - Academy 3 UK

When Burning Witches take the stage, the world trembles beneath their firestorm of heavy metal might! Following the classic heavy metal tones of their previous record, The Dark Tower (2023), Inquisition delivers tight production and an unrelenting onslaught of burning riffs, crushing drums, and vocal sorcery, driven by producers Damir Eskic (Destruction) and V.O. Pulver (Little Creek Studio, Pro-Pain, Destruction), and shaped by the songwriting of founding guitarist Romana Kalkuhl.

With Inquisition, Burning Witches unleash their most focused and ferocious album yet, honoring classic heavy metal roots while diving into darker, more powerful territory. From mystical ballads to breakneck shred-fests, the album channels both the sacred and profane, the melodic and the menacing - a testament to a band unafraid to evolve, fight, and enchant.

"As we celebrate our 10 Year Anniversary in 2025, I am very happy as well to announce our sixth album with pride and satisfaction. I am extremely happy to start the next chapter of our metal journey with my girls. The album Inquisition is for those of you who are into legends like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Slayer. Full of power, melodies, double bass drums, heavy riffs and speedy guitar solos, Inquisition is not only our style and lifestyle, it's our life! From the beginning to the end, it's the best of us,” Romana Kalkuhl comments.

"We and our label Napalm Records are a huge supporter of vinyl records, so with passion and joy we chose some great editions to add to your collectables. Now it’s your time to pick your Inquisition!"
