'My Matricidal' is a theatrical collision of aggressive guitars, ritualistic percussion, haunting cinematic soundscape, soaring vocal performances, and a relentless series of sonic blows that steadily escalate toward a towering climax. The result is a dark, emotionally charged composition that expands the band's signature blend of hard rock, metal, and provocative storytelling.

Regarding the new release, Lilith comments, "The themes explored in ‘My Matricidal’ are not really about betrayal. They are about recognition. There comes a moment in every person's life when something they believed, trusted, or accepted can no longer withstand reality. Most people spend their energy focusing on the deception itself, but I think the more important question is what happens after the truth becomes impossible to ignore. Some people retreat into anger or denial. Others choose to learn from it and move forward with greater clarity. The release arrives at a pivotal moment in Dogma's continued growth. During the first half of 2026, the band completed its largest European and Latin American touring cycle to date, performing for thousands of fans across both continents. Every European headlining show sold out, including appearances in London, Manchester, Wolverhampton, Bristol, Eindhoven, Hamburg, and Munich.

The momentum continues this summer as Dogma return to Europe for appearances at major festivals including Copenhell, Basinfire, Tuska, Rockharz, Rock Imperium, and Resurrection Fest, alongside a special headlining performance in Istanbul.

Daniel Tompkins explains: "'Phantom' explores the fight against the darker forces that live both within and around us. It’s about being haunted by destructive impulses, temptation, and the feeling of losing control to something that seems impossible to escape. Within the wider story of the album, it represents a descent into chaos - the moment where the
protagonist is forced to confront the parts of himself he’s tried to suppress, only to realise that the battle may already be consuming him. Themes of conflict, self-destruction, and overwhelming power run throughout the song, creating a sense of inevitable collapse as everything begins to burn around him.

"The idea behind 'Phantom' was to capture that feeling of being at war with yourself - when your own thoughts and desires become the enemy. There’s this constant tension between resisting and surrendering, and the song lives in that space. It’s 
aggressive, chaotic, and ultimately about facing the consequences of forces you can no longer control."

Musically, the album develops the atmosphere of Daniel Tompkins’ earlier solo work into darker, more reflective territory. Paul’s spacious arrangements, electronic textures and powerful guitar work sit alongside intimate, close-mic vocals, creating a strong sense of immediacy without sacrificing the dynamic scope associated with Tompkins’ progressive background and work with TesseracT. The pacing is restrained and deliberate with interludes and recurring motifs reinforcing the feeling of a continuous psychological arc.

The decision to release the record under the name Prince of Failure reflects the collaborative identity of the project and separates it from Tompkins’ previous roles. It allows the work to exist on its own terms, without reference to past expectations. The Prince of Failure now stands as an official creative partnership between Tompkins and Ortiz, a shared vision with long-term intent.

Colombian crossover heavyweights Poison The Preacher have unveiled their explosive new single, 'Things I Want', featuring guest vocals from Jem Siow of Australian hardcore sensation Speed. Never ones to be confined by genre boundaries, Poison The Preacher have spent the last several years forging a sound that fuses thrash, hardcore, death metal and Latin-infused aggression into something uniquely their own. Emerging from Bogotá's vibrant underground scene, the quartet have rapidly established themselves as one of South America's most exciting heavy exports, and Things I Want sees them pushing far beyond straightforward crossover worship into territory that is both deeply personal and sonically devastating.

Accompanied by a video celebrating their hometown, 'Things I Want' serves as both a declaration of intent and a tribute to the city that shaped them.

"The title track is a love letter to Bogotá," explains the band. "We wanted the video to capture all its chaos and all its glory, the things that have made us love it and hate it in equal measure. Everything we've experienced, from our best moments to our worst, happened in this city, and we wanted people to take a piece of where we come from with them."

Mixed and mastered by Charles Toshio (Sunami, Big Boy, Spy, Gulch), the EP captures Poison The Preacher at their most ambitious and uncompromising. The new single is further elevated by a guest appearance from Jem Siow, a collaboration born from the band's recent tour dates with Speed across Latin America and a friendship forged on the road.

That refusal to stay in one lane has become central to the band’s identity. Poison The Preacher’s sound crashes together pit-starting hardcore grooves, razorwire thrash riffs, death metal violence and moments of unexpected melody and atmosphere, music designed equally for hardcore kids and metalheads. “This is metal made for hardcore kids, but this is also hardcore made for metal-heads,” says Carrera. “With this new release, those lines between genres have blurred more and more.”

While Things I Want hits with all the violence fans have come to expect, its thematic focus digs far deeper. Inspired by obsession, ambition and unattainable dreams, the EP’s striking artwork features a mutilated Daruma doll, traditionally a Japanese symbol of perseverance and fulfilled goals, with one eye violently torn away.

“The EP talks about broken dreams, toxic purposes, things that you would give your entire life to, but they may never become true,” Carrera explains. “It’s a testament to obsession and ambition, in both a good and a bad way. It’s okay to have a purpose, to have a dream that you want with all your heart, but you can’t let it consume you and destroy your life.”

That emotional honesty arrives at a pivotal moment for the band. Their 2025 debut album Vs The World earned widespread praise across the metal press for its explosive collision of crossover thrash, hardcore and Colombian musical identity, with critics highlighting the band’s ferocity, musicianship and refusal to sound like anyone else. Publications including Metal Hammer, Distorted Sound, Metal Temple and Dead Rhetoric praised the band’s ability to merge old-school crossover intensity with modern heaviness and distinctly Latin American influences, while their live reputation has continued to grow through shows alongside acts including Suffocation, Agnostic Front, In Flames and Overkill.

Now, with Things I Want, Poison The Preacher are preparing to take that momentum worldwide. The band will spend July touring across Europe, including appearances at both Wacken Open Air and Obscene Extreme Festival, landmark moments for a band becoming one of Colombia’s most vital heavy exports.

“It’s a huge achievement for us to be the first Colombian band to be directly booked by Wacken Open Air and Obscene Extreme,” says Carrera. “The live show is the most important part for us. The energy is different, it’s going to make you love us or love us even more.”

It’s impossible to overstate the influence that Quicksand have on the hardcore scene. Formed in New York City in 1990 out of the ashes of Gorilla Biscuits, Youth of Today, Burn and Bold, the band took the aggression of hardcore and added a more groove-driven crunch to it, unintentionally inventing the genre known today as post-hardcore. After releasing two major-label masterpieces in the Nineties — 1993’s Slip and 1995’s Manic Compression — the band split up at the peak of their powers, only to reunite in 2012 and release Interiors and Distant Populations.

Inspired by a quote from scientist Carl Sagan, Bring On The Psychics, Quicksand’s first album in five years, sees guitarist/vocalist Walter Schreifels examining his past through his present reality. “For this album, I was going back to a lot of my earlier influences about ‘break down the walls’ or ‘start today,’” he explains. “Regardless of whether you're into hardcore or youth crew, they're really cool records because they're speaking to the time and providing possible paths to a better future … with mosh parts. That’s the energy that I wanted to bring to this.” 

From the hook-driven heaviness of the opener 'Get To It' to the shoegaze splendour of 'Crystallize', the band cover a lot of sonic ground on Bring On The Psychics, but it always sounds like Quicksand. Its technical virtuosity is on full display here as well, from bassist Sergio Vega’s locked-in bass grooves on 'Cool Guy' to Alan Cage’s dynamic drumming on the album’s title track. The band also stretched out, musically, on the album as evidenced by the breezy ballad 'Days You Run To', a song that might even surprise longtime fans. “To me, that is the kind of thing that Fugazi would do on their more chill kind of tunes,” Schreifels says of the laidback feel of the aforementioned track. “It's nice to have something that was more expansive to show the Pink Floyd side of Quicksand.” 

That aspect of the band has never been a secret; anyone who has seen the band’s psychedelic light show can attest to that consciousness-expanding vibe. Bring On The Psychics just sees the band encapsulating their creative vision in a fully, more integrated manner. 

“I'm really psyched to play these songs live,” Schreifels summarises. “I feel really fortunate to still be playing music with these guys and be able to take it to different places.”
